DC x DP Prompt *26*
In one moment everything was good. His parents accepted him as Phantom and were actively reworking their theories. In the next moment he felt like his core was about to shatter in millions of little pieces. His parents, sisters and friends died.
The explosion happened, even though it had been a different day, different circumstances and different reason. They wanted to celebrate his death day, to show him that they cared.
He was in so much agony from losing his fright, that he saw them to late. The Guys in White captured him, before he was even able to transform.
He never got an answer to how they knew he was Phantom, because ecto-scum didn't deserve anything.
Danny didn't know how long he had been there, only that they started to get careless. The GiW wanted to transport him to a new facility, but something happened outside and the Van had to stop.
The agents with him left him alone to deal with what ever had coursed the disturbance and he took his chance.
The door was unlocked.
The door was open.
He bolted.
He wasn't able to use his powers at the moment, because of the bracelet that contained them, but there was enough chaos for him to slip away, even locked into his human form.
After a good distance he looked down on himself. He wasn't wearing anything meant for the streets, just a fully covering medical gown.
So he started to look around the ally and he was lucky. In one of the dumpsters was some kind of costume. It seemed like a Halloween costume, but it was better than nothing.
He looked at it and deemed the Robin Costume a good fit and quickly changed in it. He even found the mask and shoes after some digging!
In his full Robin Costume he hurried to get further away. But luck was never on his good side, so it didn't take long for a rough looking agent to find him.
It only took one small shot out of the agents ecto-gun for Danny to crumble to the floor. And a few seconds later he felt fists and insults hitting him.
And maybe it was the lack of sleep, the loneliness, the pain or a combination of everything. But he knew that the only thing he wanted right now, was his Dad to save him and give him one of his world famous bear hugs.
And even though Danny knew that his Dad was gone, he couldn't hold his cries for his Dad in any longer.
"d-DAD!"
It only took a few seconds before the agent was flying away from him and Danny was lifted in the air, swinging up
"Robin, are you oka-? You are not Robi-. Are you okay chum?"

This post but taking an idea from the wonderful addition given by @depressnt
Tumblr media
Except instead of it being Danny, it's Vlad.
Hear me out.
Vlad has been afflicted with Danny's situation, don't ask how or why he just is. So, unlike Danny, Vlad has figured out how to push his human features so that he looks as normal as he did before he got ferretifed.
Unfortunately, it's not perfect. Any great shock (or anything on that level) would push him right back into animal features, if its great enough he goes full anthro ferret.
Such is how Damian Wayne finds out that there's a reason for Vlad Masters being reclusive (They think its the ferret but its really only a recent thing).
How does this happen?
Danny.
After Damian comes up to question him (he had to get Danny along for this) about the various rumors surrounding Vlad Masters and if he experimented on the ferrets and Danny himself. Danny finds himself gaining an idea.
He vaguely answers Damian's questions. Not enough information to do anything, but enough for Damian to know that something is there, leading to Damian concluding that Danny doesn't answer out of fear.
Either for himself, or his brethren.
So, this leads to Damian thinking that he doesn't have much time, and that he should quickly corner Vlad Masters and make him spill everything. Unfortunately, he gets preoccupied by a ferret in a dress, one of the 'guests'.
The ferret then led him into a corner to talk, and there they spill a sob story (not actually fabricated because they were experimented on prior to the mansion) and how terrible things went on beneath those walls. The ferret doesn't ask him to do anything, but wiping away their tears with a napkin they say they just needed to tell someone without any ties to that man (its kept vague but Damian assumes its Vlad).
That was the tipping point for Damian.
He noticed Vlad Masters leaving, and then started to follow him (Damian gets noticed by one (or all) of his family and they follow him is up to you). Wherever Vlad is going, he certainly seems frustrated.
Then, they enter a room, one armed wall to wall in various packers merchandise and Vlad seems to be looking for something, or someone.
Damian confronts him.
He starts spilling everything he knows about Vlad Masters, to each rumor to the 'butlers' and 'guests' and to the story he heard, and he vowed to sent Vlad Masters to justice.
Vlad, for his part, is extremely confused as to why a child of a man he invited for formalities is in front of him talking about him experimenting on ferrets (he hasn't).
Then Danny gets their attention, and they both turn to see him standing by some packers merchandise. Merchandise that is very, very valuable to Vlad. Danny then starts tipping it dangerously off the ledge, causing Vlad to panic and tell him to stop it.
Danny just smirks, and Vlad hisses that he'll skin him (They both know he won't) and Damian sees this as an opportunity to throw a punch and tells Danny to run. They then get into a scuffle, and Vlad proves himself to be more formidable than Damian thought.
But Damian's handled worse.
A minute later, Danny draws their attention again with a smirk, and then kicks the merchandise off the ledge. Vlad lets out a blood curdling scream and then punches Damian with more force than he used prior, throwing him back some and onto the floor with Vlad running over to it.
Thankfully, he manages to catch it, and when Damian gets up he finds something... surprising.
Vlad Masters wasn't human.
Vlad Masters was a giant ferret masquerading as a human. Now, Damian is questioning every piece of information he's acquired and, looking back, was so vague that Damian can't exactly say his conclusion was right or not.
Then Danny just drops down from somewhere onto Vlad Masters, and the human sized ferret didn't seem pleased by his presence, most likely because of what occurred just before then.
Damian, reaches a second conclusion.
He, the demon's heir, son of Taila and Batman, wearer of the mantle of Robin. Has perhaps been lead on a wild goose chase by a ferret.

Master list:   (My content)       (Content made by others for my OC’s)
Makayla clutched the straps of her green backpack tightly, her knuckles turning white as her head darted back and forth at each little sound, her wavy pigtails bouncing up and down as she briskly walked down the back roads of Gotham. Her heart throbbed in her chest, from pain, loss, and the poisoning fear that had begun to make its way into her mind.
Just keep walking.
She thought to herself, fighting back against the bitter tears that had begun to seep from her eyes.
Just one foot after the other. Left right left right; step step step step…
She repeated this on a loop, letting it consume her thoughts, so much so, that she hadn’t noticed the extra sets of footsteps until she was face down in the dirty streets, with strong hands pinning her arms behind her back.
The six-year-old let out a cry of shock as her face connected with the concrete. Tears of fear sprung to eyes, as she laid paralyzed on the wet floor.
“Well lookie here boys!” the man closest to her called out, his voice raw and high pitched.
Makayla could smell the angry juice, the same stuff her mom used to drink, and smell like, whenever she came home late.
“My my, aren’t you a cute one.” He wheezed, his rotten breath filling the girl's nose causing her to let out a shrill scream.
“Aww! “He sarcastically cooed then chuckled. “What do ya got in your little book bag there kiddo?”
He went to go grab the bag, Makayla lashed out, suddenly remembering she had powers.
“No no no no no! Leave me alone!” she screamed, throwing him off her back.
The man tumbled back, his comrades’ eyes were wide in shock, and, as quickly as they could without tripping in their drunken state, the ran out of the ally way.
“You little brat!” The man mumbled angrily, slurring his words. He stumbled back to his feet and sauntered toward her.
Makayla whimpered shrinking back slightly, but still holding her hand up in a fighting stance. She heard two soft thuds behind her. The man froze, with a look of pure terror on his face.
“Shit!” He shouted, stumbling backwards before turning around, going into a drunken sprint.
“Hey!” A voice called out from behind Makayla, causing her to jump before turning around, behind her stood the crime fighting duo of Gotham, Batman and Robin.
“Watch the language!” Robin shouted after the man, before turning to Makayla with an apologetic grin. The six-year-old stumbled back in shock. Her green eyes grew large as she looked up to the caped crusaders.
Her mind immediately flashed back to what Danny had told her about being taken to a Ms. Hanigan. Danny wouldn’t have wanted her to go to a Ms. Hanigan. She didn’t either, all she wanted to do was go home, to Danny.
“He-he’s not there.” Her voice small as she spoke, tears rolled down her cheeks.
Robin gave Batman a look of uncertainty. He opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted from a sudden wail from the small girl.
“Please, don’t take me to Miss Hanigan!” her light crying turned into heaving sobs.
Robin looked at the child, at a loss for words, a look of helplessness pasted on his face. Batman on the other hand went into action. The dark knight kneeled in front of Makayla, gently placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Makayla, was it?” His voice low and gravely, yet strangely soothing to the young metahuman. She nodded, hyperventilating while constantly wiping her tears away with the back of her hand.
“It seems like you have a lot of power, am I right?” His steady voice inquired.
Makayla sobbed harder, thinking that she was in trouble for having her powers, “I’m s-s-sorry!” she stuttered through her sobs, “I-I was b-bornded with them.”
Batman gave a small nod, “and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
“T-There isn’t?” her voice filled with disbelief.
He shook his head this time, lightly squeezing her shoulder reassuringly, “What you have, it’s a great gift, one that’s also very hard to handle. Now, I could help you, but we first have to make a deal.”
Makayla sniffed, nodded, then shoved her hand into her pocket pulling out two nickels and a quarter. She held her hand out to the Dark Knight, offering him the loose change.
“W-will this be enough?” She questioned.
Robin covered his mouth, suppressing the laughter that was bubbling up, even the Batman himself had to keep from smiling at the child’s innocent little gesture. He shook his head.
“I’m not talking about money Makayla.”
She gave him a confused look, cocking her head to the side, her uneven and messy blonde pigtails swinging slightly. He took a deep breath before speaking, this was going to be harder than her thought.
“I’m going to have to bring you to the police station, but don’t worry!” He said quickly upon seeing that fear had arisen in the girls face once more. “I’m going to make sure that You don’t get placed with a…” He looked to Robin for confirmation, “Ms. Hanigan…?” A nod of approval from the bot wonder. “and you’ll be able to see me and Robin almost every day. We’re going to train you, elp you get control over your powers. Sound like a fair deal?”
Tears still running down her face, Makayla had a look of concentration as she thoughtfully chewed on her bottom lip, before nodding in agreement. Batman sighed in relief and began to stand, but before he could get back to his feet, a pair of small arms had wrapped around his neck and pulled him into a tight hug. Makayla’s tears dampening the Bat’s cape, but he didn’t mind.
“T-t-thank you.” She whispered, her breaths still uneven from crying.
The Knight returned the hug, his large arms enveloping the girl, “You’re welcome.”
A blanket was wrapped around Makayla’s small figure and a small cup of water placed in her hands at the GCPD station. She numbly stared at the cup, the commissioner had given her the whole story, well, most of it. He had left out 99% of the gory details, but it still didn’t change the fact that Danny was gone. Dead. And all she could do was sit there and wait, as the commissioner decided what her fate would be.
A perky lady came bustling through the door, her lips crimson red and fingers perfectly manicured. Her shiny black high heeled shoes clopping down the stone floor , coming to a halt in front of Makayla. The child looked up at the woman who gave her an overly cheerful smile.
“Let’s see here…” The woman’s voice chirped up, flipping some papers around on a clipboard, “We have a Makayla Fray! Am I correct?”
A small nod.
“Wonderful! Now Makayla, I must ask, do you just go by Makayla? Or do you prefer something else?”
Makayla heard Danny’s voice in her mind, his happy carefree tone calling out to her, “Kayli.”
Makayla shook her head, and said in a small voice, “No. It’s Makayla. Just Makayla.”
“Alright Makayla, my name is Rebecca, you’re going to be staying with me until we can figure out where we can pace you- “
The lady, Rebecca kept happily chatting away, but the six-year-old was hardly listening. All she could think about, was the fact that her entire world, her life, had been tipped upside down.
All she could think, was simply, nothing would ever be the same.
