Hi everybody i wanted share an ice dance free program of the Czech ice dancers 🇨🇿 Katerina Mrazkova and Daniel Mrazek and guess what's the theme of their free dance? Swan Lake act 3.. at last weekend ISU world championships 2023-2024 skate america . Source YouTube
they're back this week for Euros🥳 he'd been skating with a fractured vertebra and didn't know it 😱
Growing up, the Taschlers were inspired by the ice dance teams they saw in high-level competitions.
“For me, it was Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. I had their book, I had their pictures under my bed,” Taschler said. “I was always thinking: I want to be like Scott. Then I realized it’s not really the way, that I have to be myself: Filip Taschler. But it’s always amazing to watch them.
At the last Olympics [2022 Winter Olympics], it was amazing to be there and see all the top level [ice dancers]. You could see the details–which, in ice dance, count a lot. There’s a lot of inspiration, or examples we can look up to.”
“For me also, it was Tessa and Scott. And Madison Hubbell,” Taschlerova added.
their coach, Matteo Zanni:
The Taschlers are known for their skating skills, power, and speed on the ice. Reigning Junior World champions Katerina Mrazkova and Daniel Mrazek, who also train with Zanni, share these qualities.
“For sure, we work that side,” Zanni said. “I think today, the skating side is a bit lost in ice dance. In the natural evolution of the sport, I think we need to bring back those strong skills in skating. We need both the artistic side and great skating. This is our significance. When someone has great speed on the ice, and can provide skills, and not just dancing–which remains the base of the sport–I believe that the skating will attract people [viewers].
says he likes some of the rule changes, but:
Zanni, like fellow ice dance coachMarie-France Dubreuil, is not a big fan of the new choreo rhythm sequence element. He offered a frank assessment of it.
“On one side, it’s good that we are looking for new ideas. But, to be honest, I don’t see anything good aesthetically in this choreo element,” Zanni said. “There is not any artistic side, or anything interesting with this part [element] that is lasting a while, but doesn’t bring anything special to the music or the performance. I prefer the choreo step, because it gives more freedom to create something interesting and suitable for each team. On the other hand, there is the pattern dance with key points. I don’t like this halfway [element] that pretends to be creative, but is not, and you’re still having some limitations.
Today was the final day of Four Nationals, the combined national championships of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland.
In the Men's event, Adam Hagara (SVK) and Vladimir Samoilov (POL) won their third straight national title. Georgii Reshtenko (CZE) won his first national title. Aleksandr Vlasenko (HUN) won his second national title.
In the Women's event, Ekaterina Kurakova (POL) won her sixth national title. Vanesa Selmekova (SVK) and Regina Schermann (HUN) won their first national title. Barbora Vrankova (CZE) won her second national title.
In the Pairs events, all three teams won national titles.
In Ice Dance, Katarina Mrazkova / Daniel Mrazek (CZE), Maria Pucherova / Nikita Lysak (SVK), and Oliva Oliver / Filip Bojanowski (POL) won their first national titles. Mariia Ignateva / Danijil Leoyidovics Szemko (HUN) won their third national title.
On the Junior level, in Pairs, both teams won national titles.
On the Junior level, in Ice Dance, Eliska Zakova / Filip Mencl (CZE) and Villo Mira Szilagyi / Istvan Jaracs (HUN) won national titles.
Thoughts: these two are so fun. And Nao’s look is everything. She always kills it out there.
Nguyen/Nguyen(VIE)
Thoughts: it is so cool to see more countries getting into ice dance. The lights gave this red tint to Minh Quang’s hair, very fun.
Mrazkova/Mrazek(CZE)
Thoughts: I liked Daniel’s outfit better. Katerina was trying too hard to match the tango theme.
Hauer/Starr(USA)
Thoughts: I know I watched these two once at nationals. Jenna is amazing. Ben, his curls are a little wild but he has pretty eyes.
Straub/Straub(AUT)
Thoughts: Anita’s dress was one of those where it looks like there is a necklace sewn into the print, and the back of the dress is gorgeous too. This isn’t the first time one of Anita’s outfits impressed me either.
Pidgaina/Koval(UKR)
Thoughts: the size difference between these two is unsettling. And that stumble from Iyrna. I know she didn’t fall but I thought she was going to.
