Right Prisoner, Wrong Prison
(Spoilers for Defenders of Berk and Race to the Edge.) Here's something that has upset me for a while with what happened between Berk and Berserker Island: Dagur went to Outcast Island's prison. This is never actually addressed, but I don't think it's fair. I'll explain why.
The main thing is that Dagur broke no law with Alvin. He broke it with Berk by going against the peace treaty their tribes shared. So, they should have been the ones to arrest him for that. Sending him to Outcast Island is comparable to someone breaking a lease with an apartment and getting fined by a grocery store. It doesn't make sense because that store has no jurisdiction here. If Alvin and Dagur also had a treaty, then fine, it would make sense, but there is no legal backing to support Alvin taking him prisoner.
Next, it's Alvin of all people. The Viking who goes by "The Treacherous" as his moniker. I sure hope that's not warranted...oh wait, it is. According to Gobber (I think, or Stoick) in Alvin's first episode, he has been Berk's enemy for 20 years. Wow. That is a lot of time to essentially be a violent criminal. Hiccup himself has even referred to him as a "Murderous barbarian." Wow again. Clearly, they know he is evil and has been their foe for a couple decades. So, what right does he have to act as anyone's jailer? The last time he was one, it was when he trapped Hiccup. I get it that he changed, but did he? Now, if I go into RTTE, I would feel more confident in saying that he did. Alvin coming to Berk to help out after Stoick got injured was genuinely kind of him. He didn't have to do that. However, as of DoB, he didn't do anything that great. Yes, Alvin helped stop Dagur, but it benefited him too. It wasn't altruistic. Alvin lost his island and was practically on the lam at that point. The options were: stay in protective custody on Berk or stop Dagur and get your island back. Of course he chose the latter. That's not enough to make me think he's an amazing person. He just didn't want to lose his home and have it stay lost. So, the murderous barbarian of 20 years is able to become someone's jailer. I don't even think Dagur is 20-years-old yet, so Alvin very likely could have been villaining (let's pretend this is a word) for longer than the Berserker's been alive.
What makes this worse is the actual relationship between Dagur and Alvin. Hypothetically, if they'd both agreed to work together and then Dagur just decided to lie, I would support Alvin's decision. It would be messed up to do that, but this isn't what happened. Or at least not entirely. From Hiccup's perspective it is and I think this is what led to the imprisonment. Hiccup goes to Outcast Island and sees the two Vikings shaking hands. The next time he sees them, they're fighting and Dagur has the Skrill. Hiccup probably assumes that Dagur betrayed Alvin and then tried to kill him, which would be a fair assumption, but it doesn't make this true. Both parties were planning to betray one another, but an argument could be made that Dagur was lying. Alvin said that he'd learn what he could about the Skrill, then kill Dagur and his men. I believe that. Dagur said he'd use Alvin to get the Skrill, then kill him and his men. I don't believe that. Why? Because Dagur went and got the Skrill...then left.
Dagur didn't even need to make an agreement with Alvin if he wanted to kill him. He has an armada of 50k Vikings. Alvin has probably a hundred men. He's a strong Viking, but he's not "I can kill fifty thousand attackers" strong. So, Dagur could have immediately come and attacked as soon as he saw the Skrill was in his possession. Instead, he agreed to work together (even though he didn't plan on doing it for long). Again, after this, he left. What was stopping him from using the Skrill to attack Alvin and his people then? It wouldn't make sense to return home only to go right back, so the idea of that being his plan seems unlikely. I don't think he was going to attack. He said he would (just like he let everyone think he killed Oswald). Dagur was a new, young chief with problems. They didn't have faith in him, but if he seemed dangerous and scary, even if they lacked trust, they could have fear. That was enough for him at the time. If he's let his people believe he'd do something so violent as patricide, I can believe he'd let them think he'd kill Alvin. Yet, when the time could have come, Dagur took the peaceful route, which is precisely why Hiccup would believe that he didn't. It's surprising that he did, so it's more likely to believe he was the one attacking.
Alvin was actually the one to initiate the fight. Dagur was on his way back home, but Alvin tracked him down and said he'd "Cut [him] to pieces." That sounds like a death threat to me. At this point, Dagur using the Skrill is self-defense. He does try to kill Alvin, but he's still Dagur and is still going to be a violent person. It's not helping that he was attacked first. So, this is the bad blood between the two of them. Somehow, Alvin gets to be the one who was actually going to kill Dagur and also the one who is in charge of him in prison. That is some cruel fate.
Even looking at the actual time in prison makes it bad too. How long was the sentence? It's never stated. It's probably never stated because Alvin was never going to release him. I think Heather later says that she'll bring Dagur back to Outcast Island so that he can spend the rest of his days rotting in a cell. That's what was planned for him. It frustrates me how little is discussed about his time there. Why does he have a haircut? Why does he have that gnarly scar??? That is by far the most gruesome scar of any other character. They all have one over their eyebrows or dragon claw marks (or lava burns later).
Tumblr media
I have spent an unhealthy amount of time looking at Dagur's scar because I wanted to understand how this even happened. Just check this thing out. It's not something that could be done in a simple slash. The longest one is from the temple to the chin, there's one around the cheekbone, over the eye, and the last one is sort of under the eye and down. If it was a blade, it would have had to have been made with 4 slices and I've also heard the theory that it was a whip. Ow to either. I don't buy that Dagur would do this to himself. He was way too cocky to self-mutilate. Maybe hair is a status symbol for Vikings of the Archipelago, so Alvin chopped that off and then gave him that scar. A horribly sad headcanon which I've seen many writers have (that I share) is that he was assaulted in prison as well. It's probably true. We see him in a cell on his own, but that could've been after he killed his cellmates. I also wouldn't put it past the guards. Either way, I think it's a bad case of Dagur being the youngest and smallest person there around a lot of touch-starved Vikings. As good of a fighter as he is, this could have happened because he was outnumbered, maybe he had on restraints at the time, or the guards even could have threatened to go after his Berserkers if he fought back.
Admittedly, this part is speculation. We don't know if that happened. Realistically, it probably would have, though, and you can look at him to see that he has not really been sleeping these past 3 years. I don't think there's another character with bags under their eyes like this Berserker. Plus, the one time we see him sleeping, he wakes up like it was some horrible nightmare. I'll concede again that the reason behind this is up for theorizing. What we do know is that he went in, got that scar, and broke out. Only, I think it's a shame that he was put there to begin with. If he had gone to Berk's prison like they sent Alvin to in Cast Out, maybe he wouldn't have gotten so bad. Dagur became noticeably more violent and evil after breaking out of prison than he was before going in. Afterwards, he killed just for the sake of killing. I remember him getting annoyed with Savage for not knowing that they were going to kill the merchants after taking their weapons instead of just paying for them. That Dagur would have killed Alvin to take the Skrill, no questions asked. So, it really is pretty sad that someone who already wasn't necessarily okay to begin with was turned into so much more of a threat. Maybe Dagur would have been able to turn over a new leaf sooner and start fresh if he'd stayed on Berk. What we got was basically a representation of mentally ill people being arrested and not getting better because they're forgotten about and further traumatized by the experiences of prison instead of actually receiving the therapies needed to help them. I suppose that I should get off the soapbox now. If anyone's interested in these ideas being in a story, I wrote one called Rehabilitation on AO3 and Fanfiction.net. Hope you enjoy if you check it out!

Daggers & Daffodils Chap.27
Dagur x Reader
Heads
You stood looking up at Dagur, who was eerily serious. Now painfully aware of how alone you were with Heather now gone. Taking his hand off your mouth he grabbed both of your shoulders, turning you around to face the door, "Open it".
Slowly you opened the door, to be met with an assault of bouquets, laid about the room. "I didn't know if your favorites changed so I got the old ones, but I figured I would splurge a little". "Umm-", "Do you like it?" he pressed, walking the two of you inside.
"I know you and I got into a little.... couples quarrel. And your brother stole you away before we could make up, buuuut, we're here now" he said, uncomfortably chipper. "You understand I ran away, right? It's important to me that you can comprehend that" Dagur's expression lost some of its intensity, a mask over what you would assume was irritation and annoyance. "I do" his arm wrapped around you pushing the both of you in, closing the door, "It's only natural that you wouldn't wat to see me after our first argument".
"First?" Dagur continued to push you forward ignoring your relentless sarcasm. "You should have seen the look on Heather's face when I told her we were engaged" he laughed, "She was all like; You tried to kill her! Didn't she throw you in prison?!".
"It works out perfectly don't you think? You always wanted a sister, and I've always wanted a brother". You drag a hand down your face, frustrated, "Dagur, we've done this, had this conversation, countless times. I am not going to marry you". Dagur sat on the bed with a huff looking at you "And I've told you not to say that unless you mean it" Odin's beard, he was thick. How many times were you going to have to drill it into him that unless he were to make some serious changes, namely, stop trying to kill your brother, you were never going to marry him.
Wait, no. No, you were never going to, no ifs and or buts. You have no idea why your brain kept holding out hope for him. He certainly didn't deserve it. Not after everything he did to Berk, dragons, and your friends. "Couples are supposed to have rough patches. What matters is that we make it through them".
"We are not a couple" Dagur's nostrils flare, "And if you care half as much as you say you do, you'll let me g--". "Let you go? The last time I saw you with them you were stuck against a wall unable to breathe, with no one to help you because they were too distracted by Heather".
"They wouldn't have been distracted if you hadn't destroyed her village" you retorted. "A sibling matter that they had no right to intervene in" Dagur crossed his arms. "She was going to kill you!".
"And why didn't you let her, it would have solved your issue, and you would never have to worry about marrying you again" you couldn't believe that this was his argument. You stopped Heather from killing him because you didn't want her to have to live with killing her brother and only living relative on her conscious, "I did it for her! Not you!".
"Well, she doesn't seem so mad at me now does she?" it was said almost like a jab at you. Oh, you wanted to hit him in the face. "You are the most infuriating, deranged, delusional, man I have ever met". Dagur's smile returned full force at your insult.
Tails
Dagur was ecstatic when he saw you caught by the dragon hunters. First his sister returns to his side and tells him she wants to be a family and rebuild their tribe. Then he finds out that not only you, but your annoying friends fell directly into their trap. It was too good to be true. Dagur had been reeling over the last time you had had spoken. Sure, you had briefly talked on the ship when Heather was trying to kill him, but you were a bit preoccupied with your panic attack.
Gods he wanted to strangle Hiccup for that. He took his heart, world, and very purpose of existence into a battle that very well could have killed her. And chose to prioritize the life of his enemy over his own sister. It didn't matter if her life wasn't immediately or directly being threatened, the fat that he chose to barter with Heather instead of rushing to your side had him steaming.
He was honestly lucky that Heather had chosen to come to him after he had managed to calm down, or he might have done something he would regret. It wasn't her fault; it was in their Berserker nature to seek revenge and act deranged and unhinged. Besides, she didn't end up doing it, a true testament to their sibling bond.
Seeing you outside of that cell talking with his sister- no. Your sister was euphoric. He was finally going to get his ideal family. You had left off on a rather sour note, when Hiccup took you away before you could talk it out. So, he had every intention of doing damage control as quickly as possible.
He had made sure not to hold back any punches, flooding your shared room with your favorite flowers, he knew it wouldn't fix the problem or erase the issue, but it showed that he cared. After all, this was his goal. To be able to work out this little argument in a healthy and normal way. Couples fight all the time, he thought. So, it's good that they learn to work through it now.
He had seen his parents fight when he was younger, and before he met you, he had thought that it was stupid to fall in love if it was all fighting and touching faces, ah how young and naive he was. He had been a gentleman in your argument so far. He hadn't yelled at you when you called him crazy and swore you would never be with him. In fact, he had been considerate enough to give the both of you space and time to cool off. And it was working, Dagur had calmed down and was fully ready to find common ground with you when, Hiccup happened. But never mind that. The past is the past and he was fully ready to make up for it.
"You understand I ran away, right? It's important to me that you can comprehend that" Did it insult him that you thought him so oblivious and blinded by obsession to know to your emotions and feelings? A little.
"It's only natural that you wouldn't wat to see me after our first argument" he led you away from the door, he attempted to get you to sit, but it was clear that you were too worked up. Choosing to sit down and let you follow when you felt like it he let you lead the conversation. Dagur had gotten his chance to let out his frustrations with the situation, and he could imagine that you were stuck stewing over it all. Besides, knowing his temper, it was only a matter of time before he got to that point too.
"Dagur, we've done this, had this conversation, countless times. I am not going to marry you" Dagur held back a wince as he felt a vein somewhere in his body burst. Gods, he hated it when you said that. The very topic that started the argument.  "And I've told you not to say that unless you mean it" he knew you didn't. The first time you had said it was with far more conviction, and each time you did was with less and less.
Dagur watched as your face twisted, irritated and spiteful. Before it began to subside, no doubt our mind either self-directing or reasoning, perhaps both. "Couples are supposed to have rough patches. What matters is that we make it through them".
"We are not a couple" Dagur felt his face twitch. You know what, he didn't have to yell at you to get his point across. He may be known for being deranged, but he's also smart. Why not put it to good use.
"And if you care half as much as you say you do, you'll let me g--". "Let you go? The last time I saw you with them you were stuck against a wall unable to breathe, with no one to help you because they were too distracted by Heather". He almost felt bad as he watched your eyes and widen in shock and embarrassment. Almost.
"They wouldn't have been distracted if you hadn't destroyed her village" there she was, his spitfire. He was hoping that this wouldn't be one-sided, "A sibling matter that they had no right to intervene in".
Your eyes narrowed; he loved it when you got like this. When your eyes were focused on him and only him. Was it healthy, absolutely not. But nothing about him was.
"She was going to kill you!" gods you were cute when you were mad, if he had known it would be so much fun to go back and forth with you, he would have escalated it sooner. Besides, what was a more Berserker way of ending a lovers quarrel than venting until you were exhausted. Odin knows you needed it. Stuck on Berk and wherever your little hideout was, unable to so much as raise your voice, too concerned with others. He'd fix that. You would be the perfect Berserker queen. Unafraid of speaking your mind and never forced to hold back any anger you had.
"And why didn't you let her, it would have solved your issue, and you would never have to worry about marrying you again" a bit below the belt considering how torn up you were visibly about constantly having your morals split between him and your 'friends'. "I did it for her! Not you!".
Noble as ever, putting others before yourself. Never allowing yourself to be happy. It was the reason you continued to relent against being with him. Conditioned by your family and friends to prioritize your people, friends, strangers, and even beastly dragons over yourself.
"Well, she doesn't seem so mad at me now does she?" that's when he saw it, your tipping point, you were livid, looking at him with years of pent-up self-loathing, grief, anger, everything. You looked ready to strike him, by the gods he would let you. He loved it when you got determined, especially when it was demanding in some way. Huh, he should probably look into that and make sure it's some sort of psychological defect instead of anything.....else.
"You are the most infuriating, deranged, delusional, man I have ever met". Dagur's smile returned full force at your insult. You snapped, you got an inch from his face and finally said everything you felt about him. "Took you long enough!" Dagur launched up from the bed wrapping you in a bear hug and spinning you around once. Both knocking the anger out of you and replacing it with bewilderment and confusion.
And leaving you to wonder what the hell just happened.

Still working on a title for this - just wrote it spontaneously because if I didn't the ideas would evaporate. I'll probably post a more polished version on AO3 soon. TW for implied references to sexual assault:
When Dagur saw him in the marketplace, his heart stopped. He thought he was going to die. Then a moment later, his heart was racing. He fought for breath, and though he inhaled and exhaled at a rapid speed, he felt like he was suffocating. One moment, he was standing, and then next, he was on the ground, propped up against a stall while his sister spoke gently to him.
Was he alright? What happened? Who was that man?
Dagur couldn't speak. But the look in his eye was enough for Heather to understand. The pain, the shame, it was all clear as day. They'd spoken about this man before.
As soon as realization struck her, Heather was standing, hand on her weapon, knuckles white with fury.
No, Dagur pleaded, uncharacteristically shying away from conflict. He wanted to leave this behind, to forget.
The man was already disappearing into the crowd. He hadn't noticed them and whistled contentedly as he went about his errands. Heather seethed. The monster had ruined her brother's life and had the gall to walk around in the sunlight, enjoying a life he didn't deserve. But her brother's eyes called her back from her rage. He needed her now. The destroyer could wait...for the time being.
Arne was intrigued by the maiden with the raven hair the second their eyes met. The tavern was dark and loud, but through the shadows and above the din, something about her called to him. She didn't shy away from him the way other women and many of the younger men did. Perhaps she wasn't aware of his history, of his former occupation as a prison guard. All the better, he thought. When she approached him, he felt like a wolf being courted by a deer–for she was almost fawn-like, with slender limbs and an innocent face; by the end of the night, he would find that he was sorely mistaken.
By the time they arrived to his quarters, Arne was full of ale, boisterous and slurring. He didn't usually drink so much when looking for someone to take to his bed, but he found the maiden's constant urges to drink irresistible.
A little more? She'd ask with a small smile. Her lashes batted familiar green eyes as she poured him another tankard. Gods, you could beat Aegir at drinking couldn't you?
Hells yes, he thought. Though as he stumbled to his room above the tavern, he wondered if perhaps he'd had a little too much. Though it didn't seem to matter. This one clearly wanted him and wouldn't put up a fight.
When they collapsed onto his bed, the raven-haired maiden told him that she had a surprise for him. Close your eyes, she said softly. He chuckled and did as he was told, savouring the image of those enthralling green eyes. Some thing about them was so familiar...
And it didn't occur to him until it was too late.
By the time he opened his own eyes again to gaze into hers, she'd driven a needle of Speedstinger venom into his neck. She was out of reach as his hands made their last panicked movements in her direction. Then he was frozen still.
Arne, she crooned, head titled to the side, I've heard so much about you.
Arne tried to speak but could only moan. His strangled voice sounded alien to his own ears.
The raven-haired woman loomed over him, holding a knife in her hand. Some small part of him hoped that this was some sort of game: perhaps she was the type who enjoyed pain and pleasure as a pair...but in truth, he knew better.
What do you want with me? He tried to say, but the words stuck in the back of his sluggish mouth.
The woman seemed to understand.
I came to give you a little greeting from one of your former inmates.
The hairs on the back of his neck raised.
Dagur the Deranged...I'm sure you remember him?
Arne searched his memories, trying to recall...he'd seen so many...he'd taken so many. Had it been the angry young one with red hair and...yes. Those green eyes. The same ones staring back at him now. All the seduction had faded away. Her hatred brought out the resemblance.
My brother, the woman said through gritted teeth. I know what you did to him. She leaned closer and brought her mouth to his ear. She dragged her blade lightly down his abdomen and ended between his legs. I'm going to make sure you never do it to anyone again.
Arne tried to shake his head, to kick his legs, to scream. Nothing happened.
And honestly Arne, depending on my mood...The woman raised a brow. When I'm finished, there might not be enough of you left to do anything at all.

Okay, random question time! I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I wanted your thoughts on it, if you’d be so willing. If you had control of Dagur’s redemption arc what would you do to change it? How would you make it better or more well deserved or more rocky? Would you give him one at all?
I would have definitely prolonged it. I understand that they didn't have much screen time, and that's why he changed suddenly between seasons. But yeah, I would have made it longer, shown more of it, and had him really feel guilt. I also would include talks about his past intentions and actions. That would be fun. It's the reason I wrote "Tattoo".

I wrote a quick fic which I added to AO3 and now will be adding to here since it's short. So here you go.
Title: Rocking Nostalgia
Pairing: Dagur/Hiccup
Rating: G
Words: 1,094
Summary: some things, no matter how useless they become, can be hard to let go of.
--+--
It was a simple thing really. It was painted to look like cherry wood and creaked with every rock, the paint rubbing off the arm rests from where his arms, elbows, or hands had rested many times in so few years. It was in the way and hardly used now that their two children were grown and in high school. There was no use for it anymore; the kids too old to be rocked to sleep or comforted when sick. It had become a useless commodity and it was time to let it go.
Yet Dagur found it difficult to part with the rocking chair. Many a nights (and day) he had spent sitting in this piece of furniture, lulling his children to sleep; he was surprised there wasn't an imprint of his rear on the cushion. It had a few dings, stickers, and carved names on it and looking at them made Dagur feel sad at the thought of losing this thing. Nostalgic his husband Hiccup would call him, but he didn't care. He loved the rocking chair as it did its' duty well and Dagur felt as if it deserved better than being given away.
He remembered the late nights, rocking colicky or sick babes while singing his favorite songs softly to them. He remembered cuddling his toddlers on the chair when they needed comforting or when he just wanted to hold them, to feel secure in the fact that they were safe in his arms. It had been years since it was properly used other than to be an extra seat when guests came over. Getting rid of it felt wrong.
Dagur stared at the rocking chair with a grimace, barely moving an inch in the last five minutes since Hiccup told him through the bathroom door that the chair would be one of the things to go during their 'spring cleaning'. This thing had seen some stuff; from the crying of infants to the cry of something less appropriate to even mention. It had seen many battles throughout the years, looking a little worse for wear, and Dagur felt the rocking chair deserved a more for holding up for so long after all the abuse. It had not been treated very kindly over the years.
He sat down in it, the familiarity of it striking him hard as flashes of memories rushed through his mind. Hands settled at the end of the arm rests, where most of the paint had rubbed away, and rocked gently back and forth; the stupid chair creaking annoyingly. It made him become misty eyed. Dagur stilled, but did not get up, and rubbed a thumb on the edge of the rest. He couldn't stand the thought of getting rid of it, but what else could they do with it other than sit in it when all the other, much better, seating was taken. Otherwise, it was just an eyesore. An eyesore that Dagur had come to love...
Hiccup descended the stairs, freshly showered and wrapped in a robe, and spotted Dagur in the rocking chair. A soft, knowing smile grew over his lips as he stopped in front of his sad looking husband, crossing his arms over his stomach. "When I said let's get rid of the rocking chair, it was more of a suggestion. We don't have to get rid of it."
Dagur looked up and took a moment to blink in minor surprise, taking in Hiccup's clean shaven face. Now if only the lanky man would grow out his hair a bit more like he used to so he could no longer look like some Disney king side character... and that was not a compliment. "But we don't use it."
"So? It's not like its' taking up that much room or in the way. We could set it out on the deck if you want to," Hiccup shrugged, taking a step closer to rest a hand on Dagur's shoulder. "We may be spring cleaning-"
"-more like summer cleaning."
"But it doesn't mean we have to give everything that we don't use away," the auburn continued as if Dagur hadn't mumbled anything.
"Isn't that exactly the point of 'spring cleaning?' To get rid of all the useless junk we don't use?"
Hiccup narrowed his eyes and raised a brow, amusement morphing across his face. "For a man so upset in getting rid of a chair, you act like it's such a problem to keep it."
Dagur rolled his eyes and stood up from the rocking furniture, chewing the inside of his cheek as he stared down at the simple looking chair. "It deserves better," he voiced an earlier thought quietly.
"... What?"
"A battle hardened chair should not have to suffer as it does. Donate it, it'll just sit in a thrift store for who knows how long and just giving it away to the first responder on a Facebook marketplace post is asking for trouble," Dagur grumbled.
Hiccup looked one comment away from laughing if the twitching of his lips were anything to go by. Oh the dramatics of one Dagur Haddock (yes, he did take his lanky husband's last name. Don't judge). "So why don't we give it to a nursery of some sort? It'll receive plenty of action then. The daycare center a few miles from here could use another rocking chair."
The very idea of having another person sit in his chair with someone else's baby was appalling. But it made more sense than having it sit here in their living room doing nothing; furniture without action had to be excruciating if it were a sentient being. Knowing his husband to be right, Dagur sighed and nodded in reluctant defeat.
"Good. I'll call them and let them know when to receive us." Hiccup leaned down to give the redhead a peck on the lips, escaping towards the kitchen for a cup of coffee no doubt.
Dagur watched the other until Hiccup disappeared around the corner before bowing his head to give the rocking chair an appreciative look, patting the top of the back rest. "You did good buddy, but it seems your journey has just begun."
"Dagur, please stop talking to the chair and help me with the kid's school lunches," Hiccup said, trying and failing to hide the humor from his voice.
Dagur soluted the piece of furniture and if he could have, he would be giving it a medal of honor. "Until we meet again brave soldier." With one last pat, Dagur moved away from the rocking chair.

I love this one <3 and because of that I will answer this question for all pairings (except my Inquisitors, because they are not that far developed yet) even when there is no happy end but you asked me. You should have known 😉!
Aedan/ Ser Gilmore:
Either one or both die at different times in most of my HC, but I have one fuzzy warm happy ending for them 😆.
After being cured from the taint, they both leave the grey wardens and buy a little farm where they work and live together for the rest of their lives. Without anyone knowing who they are.
Dagur/ Natia:
They inherit the throne after the former king dies. I didn't specify much more yet but I guess they will have at least one baby.
Dante/Morrigan:
This Relationship is mostly canon with the difference that he will not leave Kieran and Morrigan but will be with them during Inquisition. Because other Wardens are searching for the cure.
Kahlan/ Leliana:
They are married but only few people know that, Kahlan never left Leliana's side after the fifth blight even if you cannot spot her. She is there. When Leliana becomes Divine, Kahlan becomes her personal bodyguard. When she doesn't become Divine, they go back to Ferelden. I am not sure but Leliana might become Fereldens spymaster.
Linea/ Zevran:
After the blight Linea travels with Zevran, they go to the Free Marches to find her clan, she is enraged when she finds out that they casted Merrill out and left the clan to never return.
She goes to Kirkwall to find Merrill and they refresh their friendship and write letters to one another. Then they go to Antiva to bring revenge to the Crows.
When they are done fighting they finally settle down (she is cured from the taint) in Antiva, get married and starting a Family.
Morgan/ Alistair:
I have too many HC for them, some very bad and some very sweet. Hm.
OK. Fine I pick a sweet one :)
After the fifth blight Morgan becomes Warden Commander and Alistair is ordered by Weißhaupt to leave Ferelden. He disobeyes and stays at Morgans side. after the events in Awakening, Morgan and Alistair disappear for some time. Morgan made Nathaniel Howe Warden Commander before they left. Some years later they were seen together as they were searching for a cure, which they found after the events of trespasser. They both are cured and they also cure every grey warden that comes to them and asks to be freed from the taint. They find a cozy cabin in the countryside where they settle down. A year later their fist child is born and shortly after a second child. On many occasions they were asked to mingle in politics because of their birthrights (royal bastard/high-ranked nobility) but they always refused.
Nava/Cullen:
When this is not a slowburn then i don't know what is! Oh wait, what? Nah I cannot write slowburns, I don't have enough patience for that. But this is more like a woman runs after a man. It sounds worse than it is actually. Their happily ever after is as at the end of Inquisition stated when Cullen romances the Inquisitor with kids of course because I love kids.
Gore/ Anders:
Cry when I'm gone
Sorry, no happy end
Goldie/Fenris:
This is a happy end in a very unconventional way. Both Goldie and Fenris are free spirits need their own space and work. They have a more open relationship. When they meet up they stay together, sometimes for days, weeks, months or even years until one of them goes their own way again.
Eventually they are getting too old to run around and settle down. They then live in the same house, but both with their own space.

Heck, just imagine them going to school right now.Astrid would be the popular girl, the one who's great in sports, the one who knows all the kids, the one who gets invited to parties, the athletic and strong one, who dreams of being a sports teacher one day,the one who would punch the daylights out of those boys who dared to flirt with her,the one who wouldn't take anything from anyone, she would be the queen bee if the school, every guy would have a crush on her.She would be a disaster at cooking(yaknog is proof of that)and art.But at the end if the day she would still be kind and caring and would never let her reputation make her someone she dosen't want to, if she can help it.She would probably have alot of friends but would worry of all of them are actually for real or not,she would probably ignore Hiccup at first because she had a reputation to keep but when it would come down to doing the right thing or protecting her reputation, you can bet that she would choose the right thing. Those two would still have a lot in common like the fact that they are both pretty smart and sarcastic and pass all of their test with an A or A plus,at least a B,and would always be fighting for the second position since Fishlegs would always be first.Hiccup on the other hand would be the total opposite,he would be that weird guy who always sits at the back of the class, not to talk but to avoid his bullies,he would be super nerdy and would like to spend all his free time in the library or in one of his clubs,he would be the one who loves to donate money to charity. He would be great at cooking and art.He would also be filthy rich, since he would be the mayor's son,but you would never hear him brag about that, instead he would probably get bullied for being such a screw-up and fishbone when his father was such an accomplished man,he would probably have a pretty strained relationship with his dad as well. But he would still be the kind, gentle, sarcastic, sassy, insecure, funny, dorky Hiccup we all know and love.
Just bear with me and imagine,Its their senior year,Snotlout and the twins are picking on him for being such a disappointment to his father,Astrid coming to his aid. Hiccup saying his thanks, offering Astrid coffee as an repayment for her kindness.Astrit telling him that it was the right thing to do and nobody would have just stood and let him be bullied, but she accepted his offer,Hiccup telling that she was wrong and that if anyone else had seen that they would have encouraged Snotlout to continue. This would have probably caused Astrid to be shocked, abd asking Hiccup why he would think in such a way, Hiccup swiftly telling her that it happened on a daily basis. This would probably raise many questions, and by the time they reach the cafe, owned by Dagur the Deranged Astrid is wondering why she hadn't noticed this boy before. She immediately apologizes for not noticing him and Hiccup just shrugging it off with a"Why would you notice a guy like me anyway?".Astrid lightly punching his shoulder and telling him that he seemed like a great guy and he shouldn't be so hard on himself.Hiccup just replying with a sarcastic comment. They keep chatting for a while.Hiccup insisting on walking Astrid home,Astrud giving him her number, telling him to call her later. This causes a new friendship and they both realize that they have many things in common, their sass, sarcasm and stubbornness for example.Astrid falling for this nerdy and dorky guy, while Hiccup always liked Astrid. The school being shocked at the unusual friendship those two have. Some even begin to ship those two.All the bullies backing off once they realize that Astrid is ready to kill anyone who harms Hiccup.Hiccup's relationship with his dad starts to improve and Astrid seems to have a great relationship with Stoick, who is the biggest Huccstrid shipper alive(the man even has a Hiccstrid shirt).Astrid meeting Gobber Hiccup's crazy godfather, who Hiccup seems to have a weird but pretty good relationship with, who also not all subtley asks when they are gonna bang, which causes both of them to blush and tell him they are just friends.Hiccup and Astrid both the biggest fans alive for the movie How to train your dragon.Astrid meets Hiccup's cat Toothless,at first they are both wary of each other but they soon warm up to each other.Hicvup meeting Stormfly Astrid's parrot, and they both immediately like each other, unlike Toothless and Astrid.
Then a fire happens.Hiccup's cat Toothless gets stuck and Hiccup rushes to save him.He success but loses the lost part of his left leg.Astrid finding out and immediately rushing to the hospital.Astrid finding out that Hiccup is unconscious and has list his lower left leg,Astrid crying and realizing that she loves Hiccup. Finally Hiccup wakes up,he's devasted to find out about his left leg. Astrid coming to visit him, punchimg his shoulder, scolding him to her scare her like that again,Hiccup sassing back that go just got up and he has enough injuries and didn't need another one, which instantly lightens up the mood.Astrid keeps visiting him straight from school, bringing her schoolwork along and keeping Hiccup up to date with both the schoolwork and the gossip.Hiccup getting out of the hospital, walking on crutches for a while,he also takes intensive therapy.Astrud getting him through the days when he's feeling hopeless or feeling as if he doesn't deserve to live or he's not a man because he lost his leg.Astrid being there for him, comforting him, being his strength. And Hiccup does the same for her,he gets her though her worst days,he reminds her that she's a wonderful person when she feels insecure. He also reminds Astrid that he will always be there for her making her feeling cared for.The school losing their mind watching those two oblivious people be so blind to each other's feelings, when it's cleared day they belong together.
Then comes graduation, both of them pass with great marks and are going to the same university. They go to a cliffside after graduation, abd watch the sunset, and in that moment Astrid confesses her feelings and Hiccup tells her he has felt that way for her for a long time.As the sun sets they both kiss and that is how they start dating. They both accomplish their dreams, and end up married, with Hiccup as an engineer and Astrid the sports teacher of Berk High. They gave two kids named Zephyr and Nuffink
That's all.Thank you for taking the time of day to read my useless cliche garbage.I don't even know what possessed me to write this, and I doubt that I will ever know.Anyway thank you to whoever is reading this.

Opening Up
About opening up...Dagur kinda doesn't. (Spoilers ahead)
Tumblr media
This is something I've seen some fans talk about where they say Dagur would reveal personal information easily. I see where they're coming from with this. Looking at Dagur, I'd expect that too. He's outspoken, emotional, unrestrained, etc. He seems like someone who could randomly say, "I had a good cry today," and it wouldn't be anything surprising. HOWEVER, that changes for me when I look at the proof from the show. If Dagur was half as open about things as this would imply, then we wouldn't be forced to speculate so much about his past and the things that have happened to him. In another case of me spending too much time studying Dragons (probably. Still worth it), I tried to collect all the examples of Dagur sharing information. They have something in common. Each time, there's a specific reason. I'll go in chronological order.
In "Enemy of My Enemy," Dagur tells Hiccup how revenge can make you do things you didn't think you were capable. This was an interesting moment of really getting to see how the villain we saw Dagur be wasn't who he always was. It even shocked him how extreme his actions became. This has the potential to be some heavy stuff, but he didn't just outright say it for fun. He said it because he saw Hiccup going down that same path. This isn't, "I can't believe the things I've done and really need someone to talk to." It's, "I see you following in my footsteps and they led me in a terrible direction. I don't want that for you."
It takes Dagur F.O.R.E.V.E.R. to admit he didn't kill Oswald. Even as a good guy, he doesn't say it easily. In "Family on the Edge," he implies that something Heather said out of the sent her adrift, killed their dad, and tried to kill them list wasn't true, but he doesn't just say it. He writes it in the letter, admitting that and how he was worried that the other Berserkers wouldn't follow him otherwise. If he wanted to do it for emotional release reasons, he could've just said the first time or even told her way back when he thought they were on the same side. Rather than that, he puts it in a letter so that her final relative won't be quite as bad as she thinks he is.
In "Searching for Oswald...And Chicken," Dagur has two moments. First, he tells Heather how he's spent most of his life in varying stages of existential crisis. (Just wow for that. Wish we had heard more about it because that is quite the emotional load he nonchalantly dropped) Again, this clearly isn't to get something off his chest because it's not even something he brings up again. He just tells her so that she'll have proof he knows what is meaningless, hopefully getting her to stop throwing herself in harm's way to find Oswald. Later, he tells Hiccup he keeps anger, frustration, and rage to himself. This also isn't to share so much as to prove he can keep secrets and deserves to be trusted with the location of Vanaheim.
Then, we have "In Plain Sight." There, we find out he used to get bullied. He waited until as much of the last moment as possible to tell Fishlegs and Snotlout this. They had already flown from the Edge to Berserker Island and were literally walking down to meet Ansson. So, I don't think it's him wanting to share sensitive information. It's him knowing they're about to be there with the bully and since Ansson doesn't care about playing nice, it's going to be obvious that he used to bully him. This is just softening the blow a little by telling them first. Didn't really help, though, since they still laughed at him being called "Dainty." (Not cool even though I get how weird it would be to hear someone call him that)
Unless I'm mistaken, that's everything. I don't think there's another time when Dagur reveals something personal. Each of these had some deeper purpose. This is why I don't believe Dagur would start speaking about his past traumas without a prompt. Now, I'll say I do enjoy having him talk about this in stories and I support other writers who do. I just believe it takes a little nudge. He's not going to sit down next to someone and talk about his time in jail. He has literally never spoken about his time in jail in the entire show except the first RTTE episode to say that he spent 3 years thinking about Hiccup. So, it actually leaves a lot of room to be creative with what his past even has first, then what situation would get him to spill the beans.
