I’m so hyped for the next arc now

I was actually coming up with a protective big brother Ranpo: Park Edition that involved Kunikida’s divided attention, but with it on Atsushi instead of Ranpo (when the attention is divided by two littles I feel sad for Dazai, but when it’s divided by three littles, I just feel bad for Kunikida 😥)

I think, that because the ADA have seen lil Ranpo fighting (lamely struggling) with his brothers before, they assumed that was his capacity for aggression when small. Until one fateful day at the park.

Kunikida’s helping Atsushi with the climbing frame (whether it’s to convince him to come down cause he’s too young or cause he’s already fallen off is up to the reader’s interpretation. Dw he was fine, just scared from the fall- he’s a cub, he likes getting into weird places!) while Babyzai’s sitting in the sandpit, watching them sadly, and trying not to feel as desperate for Kida’s attention as he does, when a shadow falls on him, and he looks up and sees another little. Not one he’s ever met before, much older than him but probably younger than Ranpo. Mackerel timidly stares at him, not sure what to do, when the horrible boy raises his fist, which Dazai doesn’t realise is full of sand until it’s been dropped on his head and down his clothes. He sits there trembling, too shocked to even cry, as he watches in terror as this lil sh(can’t curse at littles 😐) picks up another handful of sand to repeat the process. Kunikida’s still with Atsushi, his backs to them. Dazai hasn’t made a peep yet, he’s not coming to the baby’s rescue because he hasn’t SEEN what’s going on.

But Ranpo has.

From across the play area, the second the little first poured sand on his baby brother, Ranpo jumped up and ran towards them, Kunikida turning around just in time to see Ranpo reach the two littles and WALLOPS the boy, who ends up flat on his back from the force. Ranpo put his arms around his sandy baby and shushes him gently as the little otter and the little monster both begin to wail.

Ranpo’s in the possibly the most trouble he’s ever been in, to the point where the arguing between him and Kunikida continues even when he’s big. But big Dazai did stop off at his desk to nonchalantly give him a whole bag of lollipops as a thank you, so he doesn’t regret a thing.
