"Yo, what's up?" Dj yelled, almost running the lawnmower into Jessica.
"Hey, hey, what are you doing? You almost just ran me over with that thing." She said, looking at him like he was crazy. She took a deep sigh, crossed her arms over her books, and smiled. "Dj, what do you want?" She said lowly.
"l didn't mean to scare you. My bad." He said, cheesing at her.
"What?" She asked, raising her brow.
"Nun, i just wanted to talk to you." He said, stepping off the mower.
"Talk to me about what? I gotta go to class." She whined.
"l don't know. You going to lunch with me?" He said, smiling down at her.
Don't get Jessica wrong. She thought Dj was a very nice boy and an attractive one at that. But she wasn't looking for a relationship right now. Her focus was school, not men breaking her heart.
"Dj, I tell you almost every day, I'm not looking to be in a relationship." She said, sadly.
"So, what's up with this Grant? What is he, a professional student?" He asked, frowning at her.
Jessica huffed, mirroring his facial expression, "I just tutor him from time to time. There's nothing going on, but Grant is in a six-year law program, and his father's a partner with a Wall Street firm, so when he graduates--" Dj had cut her off
"lt's funny because l didn't take you as the type of girl that was stupid." He said, crossing his arms.
Jessica looked him up and down and looked around her to see who he was talking to.
"Stupid?" She asked, squinting at him.
"Stupid." He repeated. 'Oh, so she did hear that correctly'
She scoffed and walked away.
"Wait, l didn't mean stupid like that. Jess, you know l ain't mean stupid like that. Listen." He said, grabbing her arm, making her turn around, to look at him.
"What?" She said, upset. Because he was wasting her time.
"Look, what I meant was, for you to be so smart, why can't you see he's using you tutoring him, so he can take advantage of you. If he's so smart, like you said, why would he need anyone to tutor him. He is just trying to get at you, like he does every day." He said, frowning down at her.
Jessica looked up at me with a blank stare and lightly smirked at him.
"Well, ain't that what you be doing? Trying to get at me every day?" She asked him.
Dj grabbed her arms and pulled her towards him, "Nah, I'm trying to get to know every prospect of you, more than I already know. If we ever start dating, I'll be dating my friend and someone I care deeply about. Grant just wants you so he can finally tell his friends. He finally got you in his bed." He said, looking in her eyes.
Jessica looked into Dj's eye's and smiled gently at him. She leaned up and kissed his cheek, and started pulling away.
"I got to go. You wanna come over and study later?" She asked.
Dj bit his lip and smiled at her, nodding. Jessica rolled her eyes, walking backward, "Get that look off your face. We are just studying." She said, walking up the hill.
Dj watched her walk away cheesing, getting back onto the lawnmower.
