A working definition for Integrative Human-Environmental Research
Integrative Human-Environmental Research:
Incorporates socially equitable participation and strives for co-production of knowledge through methods of observation and analysis centering social-ecological systems and human-Earth dynamics. These methods seek to improve the relationship between societies and their environments, with an understanding of the large-scale impacts of industrialized human activity in the Anthropocene which have transformed the natural and climate landscape, investigating how, in turn, the consequences of these transformations return to the global human system.

Climate change impacts are already hitting us, say Europeans | Environment | The…
The citizens of 4 major European countries think the impacts of #climatechange such as severe #floods and #storms are already affecting them. Overwhelming majorities of people in the #UK, #Germany, #France and #Norway said climate change was at least partly caused by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels. But only a third thought the vast majority of scientists agreed with this, despite about 97% of climate scientists doing so.
Subsidising renewable energy with public money was popular, with 70% support in the UK and Germany, 75% in France, and 87% in Norway. Increasing taxes on fossil fuels was supported in oil- and gas-rich Norway, but opposed two to one in France and Germany. In the UK, people were evenly split over tax hikes for fossil fuels.

How Latitude Affects Temperature Our planet #Earth is enveloped in a cloud of gases called the #atmosphere. #Sun rays must pass through the atmosphere before reaching the earth surface. The atmosphere, reflects some of the sun rays back to space. It absorbs some of the rays and even reflects some of the waves. So, only a fraction of the total #solarEnergy actually makes it through the atmosphere. It is this small fraction that we feel as heat from the sun. The areas close to the centre of the earth receive more heat while the areas close to the poles receive less heat. This is because the rays travel a longer distance in the atmosphere before reaching the poles unlike the equator where it travels only a short distance. This explains why #Africa is generally hotter than #Europe and #NorthAmerica. It also explains why #Russia is colder than Europe. The more you move away from the equator the colder it gets. Perhaps this also explains why #Kenyans are darker than their #Nigerian counterparts. #Kenya is on the equator while #Nigeria is between 4° and 14° from the equator. So Kenya receives more solar heat than Nigeria. Thanks for reading. #geography #Latitude #latitudemusicstudios #latitudeslove #latitude35mm #latitude41 #latitude59 #latitude37 #latitude44photo #latitudehinode #latitudemusic #Latitude13 #latitudenorthproductions #Latitude44 #LatitudeCRS #LatitudeZero #latitude2015 #latitudesportsclub #latituderose #latitude10 #latitudeandlongitude #latitudeandavenue #latitude22n #latitudetattoo #latitudeevents #latitudecabinets #latitude64discs #latitudevida #Latitude15 #Latitude84 #latitudemargaritaville #Climate #ClimateComic #climateseason #climateawareness #climatemafia #climatecafe #climatecouncil #ClimateHope #climatechangetaxgrabscam #climatesign #climateactionnow #climatechangeeffects #climateengineering #climateribbon #ClimateRealityProject #climatexpress #climateguardians #climaterefugees #climateeconomy #climatechangehoax #climatekids #climateonpoint #climaterefugee #climatevegan #climateresearch #climatecontrolledgreenhouse #climateneutral #climaterevolution #climates #climaterealityleadershipcorps #Temperature #TemperatureSensorsMarket #temperat https://www.instagram.com/p/B1L-Xf2hGt9/?igshid=1q2vquln6cpxt

Hello from the Southern tip of South America ! The SouthTRAC campaign is an atmospheric research project lead by German research centres and universities. Its main star is the German High Altitude and Long Range Research Aircraft (HALO). In September and November 2019 it will be located in the city of Río Grande (Tierra del Fuego, Argentina) at the southern tip of South America. In this cold region there were some wind surges during the last days of almost 90 km/h. The project aims to measure meteorological quantities and trace gases in this poorly observed geographical region of the lower and middle atmosphere. The scientific objectives are the study in this region of: the coupling processes at the tropopause, the generation, propagation and dissipation of gravity waves, the impact of the Antarctic vortex on the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere and the biomass burning and biogenic emissions in the upper troposphere. Previous studies have shown that this zone is unique regarding the intensity of gravity waves. The aircraft is equipped with a set of 13 instruments which allow to study the composition and dynamical parameters by in-situ sampling and remote sensing of the atmosphere. The campaign is conducted in two stages taking place in September and November. The HALO measurements are complemented by ground-based measurements (lidar, meteor radar, radiosondes, etc) and measurements onboard a glider operating at El Calafate (Argentina). These activities include participations from groups in Europe, Argentina, Chile and USA. Detailed information can be found at www.pa.op.dlr.de/southtrac, blogs.helmholtz.de/on-tour/category/southtrac, www.ipa.uni-mainz.de/2019/08/23/southtrac-2019, blogs.fz-juelich.de/climateresearch, www.pa.op.dlr.de/southtrac/html/soaring/blog.html and wp.df.uba.ar/atmosfera/blog (Spanish). In the photo you can see HALO and its "nose" which contains the BAHAMAS measurement system for in situ velocity, pressure, temperature, humidity and aircraft position. The 7 Most Interesting Climate Findings of the Year
At Climate Central, we love climate research and there are a baker’s half dozen studies that really piqued their interest this year, from the Atlantic circulation slowdown to the disappearance of the global warming slowdown. While the seven were all fascinating and critical, some also created controversies that are still ongoing

Why did/do climate skeptics get 50% of the story, when they're 5% of the opinion (and it's not because to be fair, media covers both sides)? Well, another of their arguments -- the one about urban heat islands skewing measurements of temp -- has been refuted
