Hold up, HOLD UP.
What if the chain was in a really heated battle with a bunch of enemies, they aren't letting the reader even five meters away, so the reader is just watching, you know?
But then the reader just sees a Link was about to get attacked, shit.
So the reader ran headfirst in the middle of the battlefield, not paying attention to any of the Links' yells at them to retreat, no, they are way too focused in saving one of them.
The Link looks at them in confusion until the reader pushed them away, and then they got hit in the head by an enemy, losing consciousness.
They had sacrificed themselves. They pushed that Link away a split second before he was supposed to be hit in the head, but no.
The reader took the blow.
*Angst city
Angst city
ANGST CITY!!
No but for real, imagine the things that could happen after the hit. I mean, Reader could fall into a coma, get seriously hurt from the hit, get amnesia and NOT remember anything about the Chain or their adventure with them!
Could you imagine if Reader actually got comfortable with the Chain and finally accepted their yandere tendencies and began to love them back only to develop amnesia and the Chain has to start back at square one?!?!
Like… I gotta make a little snippet for this now I swear.
Also I hope you don’t mind, I know you’ve kinda lost interest in LU but I really like you ask ideas so I’m still going to answer them. I hope that’s okay Chrom!*
Tumblr media
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
Wind could only stare down in shock, the person he viewed as his older sibling, someone he would give his life for, was laying at his feet unresponsive with a bleeding wound on their head that just kept getting more and more red as the green grass was dyed a more brownish and rusted copper color.
He wanted to throw up.
He was used to fights, contrary to the chain’s forgetfulness. He had gotten wounds and injuries of his own that he alone had to patch up on his journey to save his own home.
But he was 12 and this was different.
This time he hadn’t been the one to get hurt, instead he had to watch someone dear to him be struck down.
It felt like when he had watched Aryll be taken away that day long ago, but even worse because Aryll was alive and…
He couldn’t even bear the thought of it.
He just continued to stare down at your crumbled form in shock.
The others quickly took note of what had happened, all with ranging emotions at the forefront of their minds.
But one thing was similar.
They were pissed and they wanted revenge.
All hell broke loose on the battlefield.
Time’s hands itched, reaching instinctively to the ominous mask on his hip. Why shouldn’t he let the Deity out to enact vengeance upon those who had dared to hurt one he held so dear.
Warriors cut through the monsters with a brutal finesse and he did so efficiently and effortlessly, making his way across the battlefield with a cold and hard gaze that any soldier would have in a war. He didn’t care if the monsters would have a slow, agonizing death. Only that they would be incapacitated and that they would die.
Four split without a second thought, if the chain didn’t already know about his ability and of the colors then they did now. The four colors working together to take down the onslaught of monsters more quickly, each with their own style. Needless to say Blue was the most brutal and impulsive out of the colors, not caring a thought about any injury he may have or did sustain during his rampage.
Hyrule and Legend didn’t waste a second and we’re next to your body and Wind as everything went down. Hyrule worked on checking out the head injury and using any and all healing items along with his own magic to help stop the bleeding and heal the wound.
Legend, meanwhile, was the defense. He had his sword at the ready on his hip while his fire rod was in his hand, ready to go full on scorched earth at any monster that even thought to try and get close.
Wild , Twilight, and Sky teamed up. Wild would use his Sheikah slate abilities to freeze the monsters in time, allowing Sky and Twilight to wail on the monster before they moved onto the next. Meanwhile, Wild continued to shoot down more monsters with his bow and assortment of arrows, he even used up many of his ancient arrows to get rid of them quicker.
With all of their combined efforts the hoard didn’t last even a whole two minutes. And when everything was said and done, the rest chain converged on where you lay; either talking to Hyrule about your condition or checking in on Wind.
The days after the attack are spent in an inn, under Time’s order. It doesn’t matter if Hyrule healed everything up, you’re resting and being pampered and that’s final.
Wind stays next to your side like a leech, not leaving you alone even for a second. Well really they all do, but Wind does NOT leave you alone. You guys are roomies now too, doesn’t matter if there isn’t a second bed in your inn room. He’s either gonna sleep in the same bed or (if the others tell him he can’t due to your injuries) he’s dragging his mattress from his room to yours.

You had been following up with the Linked universe comic for quite some time, you liked the Links' designs, the story, and everything it has to offer.
Stayed ever since the first part came out, you knew a lot about these characters even if you haven't played their game yet.
So what do you feel when you've woken up to a different world and meet the chain hours later?
Happiness of course! You get to meet the Links whose story in the comic you've been following since day one! You've got a lot of questions! But first, befriend them! Why would they tell you shit when they know you, right?
Oh wait that's too much.. Hahah.. Your curiosity is finally satiated, but at what cost?
They won't let you go.
oooooh!! Interesting!
Reader finding themselves in a new world and just going: Welp, guess this is my life now…. Oh neat people that look familiar…. Wait
But honestly I can fully see this connecting to you other ask and I might just combine them because now I got some thoughts in mind about an isekaid reader who knows about the games/Linked Universe comics but also knows they can't just outright fan over the Chain or spout off their many questions right off the bat.
Tumblr media
So adding this ask in to this post as well then!
Okay so my first thought when reading these both was what if, on top of all of this, Reader didn't meet the Chain at first and realize where they were from seeing them, but like what if they saw Beedle or another prominent character in the Zelda franchise and THAT'S how they realized.
Then having rational thoughts, Reader knew they couldn't exactly go roaming about given how dangerous some of the Zelda games can be, especially for a modern Reader who wouldn't know how to use half the weapons available to them (especially if they got dropped in Hyrule's or Wild's world).
So Reader takes up a job and lands a place to stay, just trying to keep on getting by while figuring out what the heck happened and constantly hoping they'd get to see the Link of the world they got dropped into since they do be a simp.
Lo and behold one day while working they come across the group as you had put it and their mind implodes as they come to the startling realization that not only are they in the Zelda world but in the LINKED UNIVERSE COMIC WORLD!!
cue internal fanning and simping galore!
Like for example let's say Reader got dropped into Wild's Hyrule, met Beedle who brought them to one of the Stables and they then cut a deal with the stable owner that if they let them stay there and gave them meals, they'd work for the stable association doing whatever whilst doing odd jobs for travelers to make money on the side.
Then one day whilst airing out the bedding and the sheets they catch sight of a very familiar looking man with long blonde hair pulled into a long pony tail wearing a striking blue shirt and was also followed around by a shorter blonde ALSO wearing a familiar blue shirt.
.....and Reader just happens to overhear their names which were Wild and Wind....
So of course, Reader, upon realizing what's going on and who they are, tries to subtly get closer to the group because they are simping so hard right now, but they also try to be respectful and maintain their distance (as hard as it is) since they don't want to make the more cautious members of the group too suspicious of them.
Already too late since the stable owner and Beedle was telling the Chain about the mysterious worker they gained/person they found who had no background and was dressed in odd clothes and always seemed to hum strange songs that no one's heard of before.
So the Chain start trying to get closer to Reader to, trying to find out where they're from and what their story is while also keeping their respectful distance because they don't want to tip them off into being suspicious about them.
As the days pass and Reader and the Chain end up spending more time together and getting closer and closer, the truth comes out/one of the group realizes that Reader isn't from this world, isn't from ANY of their Hyrules.
But now there's a problem, because if they had known this before getting close to Reader they surely would have easily helped them find their way back home.
However now?
Now when they've gotten so close, shared laughs and stories, stayed up late with Reader around the stable campfire and spoke about deep topics, when they've had Reader comfort them and wake them from some of their nightmares without alerting the other patrons or godforbid the other members of the chain...
Well, they no longer feel the urge to be heroic and help Reader get home.
They just feel a selfish desire to keep Reader with them, to keep those bouts of laugher, fun times, and intimacy all to themselves and to never let it go.
*but no really I kinda wanna write a little one shot about this now*

No wait this is actually quite hilarious.
What if instead of the reader meeting the chain like the usual, like the chain stumbling infront of a portal and see the reader getting pulled out from the said portal or the chain stumbling across an unconscious reader or something.
What if the reader, after getting sucked into a portal and having a little breakdown because, they don't know where they are.. what kind of isekai bull**** is this and such, yes, they know Linked universe, they've read the comic and they've seen the games, probably have also played the games, and the reader is walking through a town and something, and only then do they meet the chain.
BUT, Wild asks the reader if they could take a picture of him or something like that, don't know if the sheikah slate could actually do that but if they don't then lets pretend it does.
And let me tell you, the way the reader pictured them is.. interesting.
They knelt to the ground, they suggested poses, they've done different angles, no they aren't even done just yet.
They walked behind some objects like a plant and used that to add in beauty, they used the damn leaves and it was blurred infront of the picture in the corner.
They tip-toed, they slightly tilted the camera.
The other members of the chain that was doing something else was now watching in interest, and all pictures were different and unique from the others, but they all have one thing in common.
They were all beautiful and was done with effort, effort is an understatement though.
And they even told Wild this after taking the pictures while they checked his reaction as he slides through the pictures:
"So, are these good? I'm willing to retake it if you don't like it"
Okay but like imagine…..
A photographer Reader
But one who will do ANYTHING for that one good photo.
I’m talking leaning off a cliff side, holding onto the safety railing with one hand.
Hanging down haphazardly from a tree branch just to get that one amazing shot of the forest scenery.
Jumping into a lake no questions asked because they liked the way the sun was shining off the water, but they wanted to be closer to the surface of the water. No second thoughts at all as to what might’ve been in the water.
Like they think for one photo that fire would really add to the aesthetic, maybe for lighting or something? And so they just go “aight start a fire my dudes, go wild. We’ll figure out how to put it out when the times comes.”
But this idea is so cute honestly and it can be seen in both ways (non-yandere chain and a yandere chain).
And I know in Wind's era he did get a camera and I believe in the BOTW Champions Ballad DLC there was a photographer in it, so the major thing that surprises the Chain is that Reader knows how to work Wild's Sheikah Slate (since it's like a phone. And you're right! The Sheikah Slate does take pictures!)
So, like as soon as Reader is just like oh sure and takes the sheikah slate and uses it to take pictures, I could just imagine Wild beginning to explain how to use it and he has the camera function pulled up and Reader just holds up a hand like "It's a touch screen my dude, I got this."
And then yeah, Reader's suggesting poses and pointing at different places like: "Could you go over there, the lightings better. Oh! and lean against there, yeah! Now look off to the side a little bit and smile but don't make it forced. Just, like, smile like you're seeing your best friend. Perfect!"
And of course, as you said, other members of the Chain take notice of this and how Reader seems to be able to use the sheikah slate without ANY guidance; they get curious now and start to come over.
Then Reader just ropes them into the picture too: "Oh you guys are friends? Cool, stand next to him, you're in this picture now too."
Like Reader trying to play it off that they know them because of the games and the Linked Universe comics, but it's too late: the Chain are already interested in Reader.
So, the pictures get done and the Chain is looking over the photos Reader just took in awe of how good and professional they look, and they just have to ask Reader questions; they've got so many (especially Wild and Wind since they've used cameras before).
They're all asking Reader how they knew how to do this, how they knew where and how to pose. But most importantly the more wary members of the Chain are wanting to know just how Reader knew how to use the sheikah slate (aka Time, Legend, Warriors).
Cue Reader going through a mental crisis of "Oh shizz, I f'ed up. RED ALERT RED ALERT!!" Because the Chain aren't going to drop that question and they won't be letting Reader go until it gets answered (they especially won't be letting Reader just leave if they were in a different era than Wild's).
Course Reader would have to spill the beans then and explain how it was like a phone to them ("I mean it's like a touch screen, like my phone..." "What's a touch screen?" "WHAT'S A PHONE!?!") and eventually it gets out that Reader also came from the portal and that they weren't from there (Now does Reader explain the games and the comics? NO, these boys do NOT need another mental crisis on a Monday).
So, once the boys hear that, Reader's adopted into the Chain (Did they get a choice? No. You come through portal: you join the Chain. Them's the rules). And hey since Reader is going to be traveling with the Chain, then why not ask them to take pictures from time to time. Or why not begin to ask them about their world/era.
One thing leads to another over the course of the time that Reader travels with the Chain; the Chain just fall for Reader. It was just a matter of time really.
But Reader best hope to find a way home before the Chain fall too hard and refuse to let them leave.
*(Also just want to say, I could see this tying into the cosplayer au: Cosplayers know how to take good photos.)

Being a student is already hard, having to sit in between painfully boring classes, having to listen and answer a bunch of assignments where most of the topics won't even matter and you doubt that you'll even use the other half of what you learned in the entirety of your time here on earth as a student.
It just so happened to be that tomorrow was a large test, you'd be better off dead or forgotten should you miss or fail the said test, this test is so damn important you swear you'll commit suicide if you fail.
But then, as if the god has heard your cries of help, you had woken up to a new world but even then..
THE TEST. WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT?! YOU MISSED. THE. TEST.
You look around, your bag! It's next to you! Your textbooks, notes, and all of that is there, it wasn't damaged or anything like that, AND YOU'RE STILL IN YOUR PAJAMAS AND FOR F***S SAKE YOU MISSED THE TEST.
And then you meet the chain, the chain who you have became close to and..
You suppose it's better to deal with their.. Yandere side if it means you won't have to deal with the test or any classes at all.
I feel this so much right now, you've got no idea. I've got finals coming up so I would GLADLY choose to deal with some yandere heroes than any of my college finals.
But honestly student reader just saying the most random shit out of nowhere that they’ve had to learn in school:
Reader: Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
Any Link: …. Okay???
Said Link internally: what the fuck is a mitochondria and do I have to fight it?!
——————
Reader: you know in 1942 Columbus sailed the ocean blue
Reader: BUT NOT TO FUCKING AMERICA, THE STUPID BASTARD!! IDIOT! HATE THAT MAN, HE’S SUCH A-
Any Link writing this down: okay…. Kill Columbus… get married… and settle down happily
——————-
Or like Wind or Wild look through Reader’s things and find all their textbooks and their notes, cue them asking Reader about it:
Wild: So what are all these books about? They’ve got weird pictures in them and-
Reader instantly recognizing their advanced algebra textbook, slaps it out of Wild’s hands: hell…. Pure Hell, you sweet summer child.
*Edit: I also may add more to this, I’m just feeling real tired and drained rn while up at work so my brain ain’t computing as it usually would*

The reader, genuinely confused as to why the other Links aren't in any romantic relationship with anybody : Say, what's your type, anyway?
Yandere Link : You.
Reader : I - what?..
Oh Chrom this had me chuckling.
The Links just outright saying that they like Reader; just put right out there in the open. No way for it to be misinterpreted.
And poor Reader’s just stunned. Like “Hmmmmm-scuse me WHAT!?”
But I think it’d be even funnier with just a COMPLETELY oblivious Reader.
Like imagine the Links keep telling Reader about this person they’re in love with (they’re trying to hint to Reader that the person in question IS them) and just:
————————————————————————
Reader: Oh well why don’t you just practice your confession to them on me! Work up the courage y’know!
Any Link: O-Oh! Sure why not I guess.
Link, taking in a deep breath cause he was NOT prepared for this:
[Name], throughout our time together I have come to realize something.
You are the light of my life, the very reason that I live. Without you I would not have the strength, nor want, to continue to breathe.
Should the world be overtaken by darkness I would fear nothing for you would be by my side. I feel that I have known and loved you for eons; through the rise and fall of kingdoms.
I would do anything for you. If you would have me beg, I will grovel and kiss the ground you walk. Ask me to die, and I will. There is no measure of my love for you, it is as vast as the sky above us. Please, just be mine and mine alone; accept my love and love me in return, that is all I ask.
Reader, at a loss for words:….
Reader, smiling widely: Wow Link!! Zelda/another love interest would be a fool to say no!! Now just go to then and tell them the exact same thing you just told me!
Link, gaping at Reader like a fish out of water:
Link gaining his bearings, voice cracking: O-h Gr-eat! Yeah…. Yeah I’ll go do that….
————————————————————————
Just Link pouring his heart out to Reader and telling them if his undying love for them.
And Reader just gives him a thumbs up like “Coolio my dude!”
You and I both know that said Link would be CRYING internally that night.

Hear me out on this one Mit.
So the reader is a really professional baker you know? They make pastries, and all of that stuff, cakes.
So imagine they just ask when all of the Links' birthday is, and basically weeks later they ask them their favorite flavor for a cake, if they haven't already asked them already, they ask them those in private, ofcourse.
And then a Link just wakes up one day to a box beside them, there is a letter on top and a miniature paper cake.
They open the box and the cake looked exactly like the miniature paper cake on top.
..
That's adorable.
..
I feel like this would make the Links fall even.. deeper.
Oh gosh that's adorable.
Honestly, the only thought absolutely plaguing me right now is Reader making a bunch of cake taste testers for Hyrule on his Birthday (Or perhaps days before his birthday) so they could find out his favorite flavor of cake together.
Simply because Reader isn't taking Hyrule's "Oh I'd love anything made by you my dear."
They're finding his favorite flavor goddamnit.
Or with Wild who would be down to eat just about anything they just make a Frankenstein cake (aka an amalgamation of a bunch of different cake flavors put together into a single cake: like different tiers or what not) simply because Wild said he loved every type of cake or he, somewhat like Hyrule, couldn't remember his favorite flavor of cake and thus didn't know what it would be.
But also, dang Reader be sneaky!
Cause like they're setting all this up and yet none of the Links realize it until BAM they wake up to their own little birthday cake. Amazing.
And you KNOW this makes the Chain fall even deeper in love with Reader because they took time out of their day/week to come up with this; bake an actual thing (with love of course) to celebrate said Link.
And let's be honest, for some of the Chain this may be the first true birthday cake they've ever received (or remembered receiving).

I have a wonderful idea. ( i always do, it's the confidence darling. )
Think about this, the reader from the modern world who was a voice actor of one of the Links, one of the Zeldas or any other characters.
Bonus points if the reader's voice is wildly different from the said character that nobody will believe that they are the voice actor of that character until they actually do it.
But then the Yandere Links will ask how they are able to voice them and we'd probably give them an existential crisis if we told them..
"No because it's actually easy to change my voice to [Character], AHEM AHEM.."
*'The reader's voice change to a deep or a more higher pitch
[insert a line on how the character would typically introduce themselves in the actual game/show or how they think that character would introduce themselves]
I said "show" than just game because of Courage.
Of course the Cartoon Link and CDI Link would be there too, their reactions will be hilarious i just know it.
Oh jeez, all the boys would be having existential crises and/or reoccurring trauma depending on who Reader voices.
For example if the Reader voiced any character that members of the chain had been close to that they have a sad past with. Well, hopefully Reader is just nice about it and doesn’t bring it up. (Ahem Navi, Marin, literally ANY of the champions, etc).
However if Reader was one of the Link’s voice actor then I feel like it’d be absolutely hilarious. Reader would say the most outrageous things in their voice and just catch the chain, and the Link, in question off guard.
For example could you just imagine Legend and Reader arguing over something and then Reader just whips out Legend’s voice on him.
Legend: I did NOT say that! I said-
Reader: Oh horseshit! You said, and I quote,-
Reader, clearing their throat, now speaking with Legend’s voice: “The map says we should take the left path, there should be a chest in there somewhere with loot or a key. And because I’m sooooo smart and know everything you should listen to me. Blah blah blah,” And then what happened! The floor starting projectile vomiting tiles at us!
Legend, taken aback: … first of all, how the hell did you just do that and secondly, I DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THE DAM-
————————————————————————
Or Reader having been Time’s voice actor and so they just use that to scare the rest of the chain or make Time laugh.
Like idk if y’all have heard the parody of Fly Me To The Moon, but Reader would DEFINITELY take advantage of Time’s voice to sing that parody.
Time, quietly cleaning his armor:…
Reader, coming from out of nowhere: Hey Time wanna hear a song from my people?
Time, sensing something’s wrong already: Oh, no that’s quite fine [Nam-
Reader: Great! Here is Fuck the Moon!
Time, fighting a grin off his face now listening intently: … you have my attention.
Reader, singing in Time’s voice:
Fly me to the moon.
And let me kick it’s fucking ass.
Let me show it what I learned in my moon jujitsu class
In other words
Catch these hands
In other words
Coward, fight me
Fill my heartless void
And let me see you explode
You are all I ever hated
So please just gooo!
In other words…
Fuck the mooooooooon
In other words..
I hate you!
Reader, out breath: so what’d you think?
Time, discreetly wiping a tear from his eye: Beautiful, absolutely perfect. I’m not even gonna question the voice thing right now.
———————————————————————-
Or like Wild and Wind are getting up to shenanigans and then they just hear Time’s disappointed voice from behind them like:
Wild and Wind getting up to stuff they shouldn’t:
Time’s voice sounding from behind them: And just what do you boys think you’re doing.
Wild and wind: !!!!!
They turn around only to see Reader holding back a grin and struggling to not break their composure.
Wild: Oh goddesses, I thought I was going to die a second time.
Wind: You’re telling me! That was worse then when Grandma and Aryll got mad at me.
————————————————————————
Time of course knows about Reader using his voice to prank the others and is all for it. That man is a prankster through and through and he is living for the chain being on edge not knowing if it’ll be him or Reader they encounter.
————————————————————————
Sad to say I’m not too familiar with the cringe Links but I know for fact that Reader would interrupt one of them with the “Well, excuuuuuuuuuse me Link!” And the Link in turn would just stare in betrayal and awe.
It’d turn into the Spider-Man’s pointing at each meme. Bonus points if Reader dresses up as them when they do it.
Also love the confidence darling, keep it up. 😂

Let's imagine that the reader has some godly amount of rizz.
Like Warriors flirting with them one time, ( He is actually being genuine but the reader takes it as a joke because isn't he always like that ? ) and then the reader flirts back with a really creative pick up line.
I just know that Warriors fell even deeper inlove with them right then and there.
And if the reader does that with the others I'm more than just certain that they're planning on a wedding proposal. ( As if they haven't been at the beginning of their infatuation )
They constantly call him Lover Boy as a little nickname. You can’t convince me otherwise.
Like, the song or meme or whatever where it’s like. “And how do you call your lover boy? I simply say ‘Oh lover boy!’” Like that- that’s what Reader does kay.
And honestly this is all just reminding me of how I joke around with my one friend. Like they call me their mistress and we’ll just goof around and “act” and whatnot. All in good fun of course.
But that is what I imagine Reader does with the Chain.
Like someone just comments about how lucky Reader must be to have a man like Warriors (I’m mainly gonna do Warriors cause I’m trying to force myself to get him down more)
And Reader just gives a sly wink to the person whilst saying “Oh you know so. Ain’t that right lover boy.”
Perhaps they even seal the act with a quick peck to the cheek.
And Warriors is just losing it mentally.
Outside he’s trying to remain composed and intact (however anyone can see how red the tips of his ears have gotten), but the poor man’s just gone.
Rip bro.
And yes Reader just asking the boys to do something for them and they just go “Hey (insert Link here) would you be a dear and get that for me?”
Or Reader just likes to play flirt to help pass the time and fill up any silences that occur.
Like Warriors is using his shield to fix his hair or check out some damage he got in a fight. Reader just passes behind him and smoothly goes,
“I wish I was that shield or a mirror so that I could see you every morning.”
Warriors.exe has crashed.
Or like Wild is looking for some type of ingredient for a meals he’s making and he gets jumped by Reader with a:
“Oh sorry bout that, you were just looking like a snack.”
Cue a wink from Reader as they saunter away leaving Wild perplexed about what they meant but also somehow knowing it was a flirt.
Now going back to Warriors I feel like Reader gets into flirting battles with him, not to his knowledge though.
Warriors almost always starts it off by flirting with Reader and Reader, thinking he’s joking around, starts doing it right back at him.
I love the thought of Reader with an ungodly amount of rizz 😂
And so do the Links

Alright, so think about this one.
The Links just seeing the reader so.. Vulnerable.
Like i don't know about you but I've got this really deep regret that I've only ever shared to my uncle, nobody else knows about this regret to me, and everybody has that, you know? Especially the emotional stuff that makes them tear up.
That and put it to the reader, they're for real going to be crying one night when they can't sleep because they just remembered something, they remembered the thing that they did that they deeply regret, they think that nobody could hear them, they think that nobody will be able to see them in such a vulnerable state.
They think that the others would only ever see them in their calmest moments, they think that the Links have never seen them cry, which was true until that night.
And then they refused to tell the Links about it, they'll just wipe their tears off that just kept on leaving their eyes anyway, shrugged it off as them being emotional, and then tried to change the topic as best as they can, but the Links just won't.
Why are they crying? What do they absolutely regret? They are right here, they should confide in them! They should know that whatever they're feeling shouldn't be bottled up.
Just angsty in general.
*I just- oooooof
Yeah, I definitely get what you mean, I'm sure others will too. But yeah, just having those nights where everything was fine before but then you get that one thought, just that one bad thought, and you just end up spiraling and the tears won't stop.
Yeah, I've had those nights before.
So, just a warning then for people who don't like angst. There's gonna be some angst here, not a whole lot but y'know.*
All I'm imagining right now is Reader having a good, nice day with the Chain.
Having fun stirring up trouble with Wind and Wild, even getting Time to help out with some pranks on the rest of the Chain. Sitting by the campfire exchanging stories and having laughs with the Chain.
Then night hits.
And past memories and regrets come with it.
Maybe Reader feels guilty and regrets leaving their home to travel with the Chain (whether they willingly left or didn't doesn't matter, guilt doesn't care about the scenario). Or they had made a mistake in the past that they wish they could fix.
Eventually more regrets and memories start piling up; Reader isn't able to escape to their dreams anymore, sleep eludes them whilst they get eaten up by their past.
Then, as things start building up and just become too much, the tears start.
They try to be quiet, they really do.
Using their blanket, they try to muffle their sobs and gasping breaths. And while this tactic may have worked at home before, it doesn't work with the Chain.
With one person being awake and on watch they're for sure to take notice of Reader's shaking form.
The other members of the Chain wake up to the quiet sniffles and huffs. Of course, they would, having gone through so many dangerous situations they've learned to be light sleepers; to awaken when things in their environment suddenly change.
But Reader doesn't take notice of the sets of eyes on them, too busy still attempting to muffle their sounds.
Perhaps Hyrule or Wild ignites the campfire once more, suddenly illuminating the surroundings and Reader in light.
Or maybe a gentle hand caresses Reader's shoulder, taking care not to startle Reader too much, and Reader turns around to find the Chain crowding around them, concerned looks and sympathetic gazes.
The Chain would try to get Reader to talk to them about what's troubling them; tell Reader that they're always there to talk to and confide in.
But Reader brushes off their concerns and saddened looks with an "I'm fine" whilst they hurriedly wipe at their eyes. "It's nothing, don't worry about it."
However, it's not nothing and the Chain are going to worry about it.
They keep up with their questions.
"Did something happen?"
"Are you hurt?"
"Was it something we said/did?"
"Did someone else make you upset?"
They continue with their comforting.
"It's okay to cry, we're here for you."
"You can tell us anything [Name]."
"It's alright, it's alright."
They bring Reader into gentle hugs, hands creating soothing patterns on Reader's back and arms. Gestures and embraces filled to the brim with enough love that it's practically overbearing, suffocating.
Maybe Reader finally breaks, sobs into the warming embrace of those around them. Talks to the Chain about their worries; alleviates the problems and thoughts clouding their mind.
The Chain are happy that Reader trusted them enough to confide in them at last, they of course tell Reader not to be afraid to cry in front of them and to no bottle up their emotions anymore.
And while Reader's cheeks may still be slightly damp from their tears, they go to bed with a soft smile on their face. Surrounded by the loving embrace of those around them.
Or
It becomes too much.
The Chains embraces and loving words become too overbearing; too suffocating that it sends Reader into a panic; makes them go defensive.
Perhaps they push their way from the Chain with a harsh "I said I'm fine! Just drop it and leave me alone!"
They drag their bed roll away from the group, setting up further away from them next to a nearby tree.
Rolling onto their side they face away from the Chain so that the tears that streak down their cheeks won't be seen.
Not wanting to push Reader away further, the Chain back off; realize that how they went about trying to comfort Reader was wrong.
They won't drop the issue of course, but it's going to be a few days before it's ever brought up again.
They don't want to push Reader too far that they don't come back to them.

If we have a voice actor reader.
Then it is a must to have a cosplay reader.
Imagine if they had like a Link cosplay, or even better, they know how to sew and they just sew a bunch of clothing.
Aww this would be so cute.
The Chain would certainly think so.
Legend would absolutely start making Reader help him out with mending their clothes after battle so he can have more time with them and get closer.
“It just makes the most sense. Better to have two sets of hands on this then just one. We’ll get things done a lot faster.”
The Chain absolutely awes at the fact that they were special enough in Reader’s heart for Reader to dress up as them.
But why make a copy of their attire when Reader can just wear their clothes. I mean they’re right there, Reader just has to ask. They really don’t, Reader is free to just take them whenever they want.
Warriors just wraps his scarf around Reader when they show him their cosplay of him.
“You’ll need this to make it absolutely perfect! It has to be 100% accurate after all my dear. Besides you look quite good in my clothes, you should wear them more often.”
And a Reader who can just make clothes on the fly? Warriors and Wild are in love.
Hyrule definitely puts the idea into Reader’s head of trying to make enchanted clothing. Like ones with fire resistance/cold resistance/etc.
If the Chain’s clothing is starting to show ANY signs of ware they’re running to Reader for help.
Sky trusts Reader and ONLY Reader to mend his sailcloth should it ever take any damage. Anyone else tries to touch it and he’s slapping their hands away whilst glaring heavily.
Every member of the Chain is wanting to know if Reader has a cosplay of them. If so they NEED to see it.
Four secretly wonders if Reader has separate cosplays for each of the colors.
Wild’s making Reader wear every one of his armor sets. And if it looks like they won’t fit, then he’s gonna help them make them.
“It’ll be good for you to have a variety of armor anyway. Now it can be a true cosplay of me!”
Wind makes you refer to him as a “mini-me” when you dress up as him. He also refers to you as “Bigger-me”. He eats that shit up okay, it makes him so happy that his older sibling is down to dress like him and have fun.
As for Twilight, Reader’s activities gives him a sense of home. Just the domesticity of sitting around a campfire whilst Reader sews/knits away.

Among us reader AU.
Alright, let me explain.
The reader is a crewmate and in the spaceship there were only three of them left, one of them is an imposter and the reader and another crewmate was able to figure out who the imposter was, however, the imposter fought back, effectively sabotaging the entire ship before the ship fell, and while the imposter was kicked out, the two crewmates were panicking, the ship landed on a place, however, it wasn't their own world.
The chain found those two crewmates, but only one of them survived the crash, it was the reader, they still had their suit and helmet on and they just got one major injury, nothing that will immediately kill them, unless left out for long, the other crewmate.. it wasn't a sight to behold.
Lots of large wounds, the Cafeteria area was littered with both of their blood, the entire spaceship was covered in dry blood, with cafeteria being the one with the most amount of blood, not to mention the freshest.
Does the chain help them? Yes!
Are they curious as to what happened to the ship and what happened inside the ship? Ofcourse!
Do they not know what that spaceship is because they haven't seen it before? obviously!
Do the chain eventually become yanderes and think that they are the only ones who could protect the reader because they found them in such a state? ...yeah
Are they going to let them go?.. Fuck no!
*Okay so quick warning for others then, this is post is going to have blood and mentions of injuries in it! Nothing too graphic however, but thought I'd give a warning just in case!
Now, this is a very interesting concept! Color me intrigued*
First off, just going to say right off the bat, Time might be a little wary of Among Us Reader.
In short, he's gonna think Reader is an alien (and Reader technically is in this situation as they've crashed on a planet not their own), and we all know about the various interactions Time has had with aliens.
Of course, seeing Reader wounded pushes down his paranoia and his heroic side takes over. Can't just leave a most likely innocent person to die after all.
Seeing the crashed ship and all the wreckage the Chain would no doubt be in disbelief.
Especially after discovering the carnage inside.
After coming across the corpses in the medbay (I personally like to believe that while the game doesn't show it the crewmates cover the bodies respectfully in the medbay) and realizing that that blood was older and less fresh than the blood coming out of the cafeteria the Chain immediately bolt into the big room.
There they think all hope has been lost. It looks to them like there were no survivors.
Until a loud cry of pain sounds out from under a flipped over table and some rubble.
Hurrying over, Hyrule is the first to find the prone and strange outline of a trapped figure.
He doesn't know if they're wearing an outfit of some sort or if that's what they truly look like, but at the current moment he can't help to care.
After calling the rest of the group over to have them help move the rubble and table, the Chain comes to a startling realization whilst looking at the strange figure.
The head piece of their armor, and they assume it must be armor now, has cracked and pieces have broken off revealing the figure behind the mask.
This was an actual person, one who did not look so alien after all.
One who is currently bleeding out from a wound in their side and has a trail of blood running down their face.
Removing the broken helmet entirely the Chain is met with a human looking face, one with rounded ears and stunning features. If it weren't for the current circumstances some would even have blushed at the sight.
Warriors, who was off looking for more survivors, came back to the rest of the Chain with the grim news of the less fortunate figure who had not survived the crash.
But he grows the smallest bit happier when he sees that there was a survivor, even if it was only one out of the whole ship.
Acting fast Hyrule works to stabilize Reader's wounds, using his magic and having the others bring out their health potions.
Eventually Reader's wounds are all but smaller ones now. And while they may be a pain in the coming days, they'd survive.
Not wanting to stay in the haunting carnage of the ship anymore, the Chain carefully transport Reader to a nearby inn.
Days pass and Reader finally awakens.
However, they don't awaken quite so peacefully.
Instead as Reader bolts up in bed and falls off of it in their stumble to get up they jump scares the Chain, who had fallen asleep that day in the room with Reader waiting for them to wake up.
It takes a lot of calming down and gentle words, outstrechted hands showing open palms to show that they meant no harm, before Reader agrees to hear the Chain out and take a seat back on the bed.
Now things start getting explained.
The Chain tells Reader of how they saw their strange ship crashland and, being worried and curious about what happened, they tell Reader about how the searched the site and eventually stumbled across them.
They don't need to say how everyone else on the ship had died, from Reader's saddened and forlorn look on their face they can tell they already know.
After the Chain explains their side of things, they wait patiently for Reader to hopefully do the same. Give them something that could explain what happened and who they are.
And Reader eventually does, caving in to the fact that they're all alone right now but these strangers are being so kind to them. Something they've sorely missed while being on the ship that had been run rampant with ruin and suspicion of everyone and everything.
Reader explains exactly what happened on the ship. How their crewmates were picked off one by one by a monstrous being that had assumed the form of one of their friends (another small head cannon of mine since it'd be obvious who the imposter was if they assumed a random form of a person that hadn't been there before).
The Chain feels a great sense of pity and horror as Reader explains how everyone was under suspicion, even themselves, as crewmates were picked off and as their oxygen and power supplies were targeted and sabotaged relentlessly by the imposter.
The Chain feel a sense of awe, and strangely pride, as Reader tells the Chain how they along with their fellow crewmate were able to discern who the imposter was and boot them from the ship.
However, that sense of awe and pride turns into a sense of horror as Reader tearfully remarks how it had been too late. The imposter had sabotaged the flight pattern/engine.
Reader and their friend had been unable to fix the sabotaged equipment and so they knew they were going to crash and most likely die. They had accepted their fates and had gathered in the cafeteria one last time.
Reader's harrowing tale and tear speckled lashes make a strong urge rise up within the Chain.
They too have had their dangerous adventures, gone through harrowing hardships and the like. But this was something entirely new.
They felt terrible that Reader had to go through such a thing and they made a mental promise that Reader would never have to go through such an ordeal again.
This event is what sparks the need to protect and their love for Reader.
And it is the days and weeks after, where the Chain helps Reader deal with their survivor's guilt and where they spend time with Reader, that they start to fall even deeper.
You could say it was a matter of fate that Reader survived the crash landing.
To the Chain, this was simply
meant
to
be.

Imagine the reader who is absolutely good at making motivational speeches at any given opportunity using various random words.
They also give love advice too and the yanderes follow them.
"No matter what Link, even if life is truly unfair sometimes, how life just gives you trouble in every step, without life, you wouldn't have met them, you wouldn't have met the person you've been gushing about since forever, life is beautiful sometimes, it's just that you don't see its full beauty when all you're ever focusing on are the negative parts of it, i assure you that beneath that not so wonderful history you have with life, is a wonderful and beautiful one, just because you're going through a hard time doesn't mean that you won't ever be able to move past it, you're wonderful and caring and beautiful Link, they will like you back, i promise."
That's what the reader says.
Listen to me, listen to me. Reader be dense af rn if they’re giving the Yandere’s love advice.
AND I AM HERE FOR IT!
Ugh, if Reader said that to ANY of the yanderes (well not Wind mind you, he do be a child) but they’re sweeping Reader of their feet and proclaiming their marriage for the whole world to hear.
And you KNOW the Links try to drop subtle hints when they ask for live advice.
“What kind of gift would you like?”
“What’s your favorite (thing)?”
“Well, what are some things that you’d do on a first date?”
“How would you want someone to ask to court you?”
Besides that though, Reader giving the best motivational speeches
(haha jokes on you ANY speech reader gives is the best. Reader could say “Fuck ‘em up and don’t die.” And the Chain would be applauding, giving Reader the standing ovation they deserve!)
But anyways, Reader boosts the groups moral and mental health instantly.
Any Link could be severely injured, just hear a speech from Reader and all of a sudden they’re getting up like they’ve just downed 12 red potions.
Hyrule would especially love the motivational speeches Reader gives.
I mean the poor dude has a lot of self-doubt and self-worth issues.
But don’t worry my man, Reader’s got you covered you funky little magic dude you.
Warriors thinks you’d make an amazing general/high ranking officer in the army. You’d be able to rally support and energize/motivate the troops and soldiers.
Though he’d never let you fight, ever.
Time certainly appreciates your speeches when the boys are having a hard time while on the journey.
You’re just able to light up the room like no other.
The Chain also makes it a common thing now in your guys daily routine.

Oh wait HAHAH.
I can't stop imagining that what if the reader is multilingual.
And then i thought about the reader cursing somebody out in like three different languages or more, switching to a different one in each sentence or paragraph.
I mean, they must have pissed the reader off really badly to take this treatment because like --
Reader : *Inhales, *exhales
Reader : Alam mo ba na hindi ka yata minahal ng magulang mo bwiset ka, WALANG GINAGAWA ANG TAO TAPOS IKAW--
It's even better since the reader probably told one of the Links about the languages so he knows, not all of them, what they are saying, especially the curses because he literally had to beg the reader to tell him about it.
Okay, I’m dying to know. But what did Reader say right there?!? I can only assume it’s gonna be funny as all heck. 😂
And we all know Reader is going to take FULL ADVANTAGE of knowing a language that the Chain and others don’t know.
The thing about one of the Link’s knowing what Reader is saying when they curse out a rude person. Brilliant, beautiful, I like it Picasso.
But which of the Links would it be???
I’m pretty sure I read about one of them having the ability to understand any language in their world and I reeeeaaally feel like it was Hyrule.
So maybe he’d understand what Reader says?
But for now let’s assume Hyrule doesn’t have that and Reader does have to teach a determined Link a new language.
Honestly, I feel like Warriors might actually be the one to understand Reader’s language more than the others.
The fact that he had to go through the War of Worlds and also most likely had somewhat of an education would make him more receptive to learning a new language. I just feel like he’d retain it more?
Time would also most likely have an easier time of retaining Reader’s lessons since he had to… remember a lot of things with Majora’s Mask (the man literally had to memorize people’s schedules to live okay).
However, with little brother Wind, who is just a ball of adorable trouble, he would DEFINITELY be begging Reader to teach him swear words in their language.
Reader obliges, not really since they just tell him how to say “I love you”, “You’re my friend”, “The sky is blue” just common things like that.
Time finds out and thinks it’s absolutely hilarious that Wind is just yelling random phrases at monsters that he thinks are swears but he’s really just aggressively saying hello.
But also, as I have heard with people being able to speak two languages, Reader forgetting how to say something to the Links and so they start describing it and then they just switch to their second language mid description. Suddenly the Link who understands Reader’s second language and was still able to listen to them just goes “Oh you mean this _____?”
And reader just blurts out “THAT’S THE BITCH!”
Like stuff like that, would just be funny.
But should the Reader ever get mad at the Chain and just start going at them in their second language? The Links learn a whole new level of fear.
Just the fact that they don’t knew what Reader is saying yet the also know that whatever it is isn’t nice and is most likely Reader cursing.
Then just only being able to go off Reader’s expression and gestures. The fear of the unknown man.
Meanwhile the Link who understands everything is either laughing their ass off to the side or also afraid, because no one wants to see Reader mad.

Alright, hear me out on this one.
So i was thinking, what if the reader still wore their uniform? Like the uniform that they use to go to school? Like a PE uniform or still the normal Monday to Thursday uniform.
And then while they wore their uniform, they still had their ID ( assuming that they have one ) and their bag.
..and I'm silently hoping that none of them would go through-- alright i just jinxed it didn't i.
Hmm I had to think about this one.
Because I for one never had to deal with wearing a uniform when going to school. And I’m assuming since Reader has a school uniform then they probably went to a private school of some kind.
So I’m gonna assume Reader’s uniform is the typical white button down shirt, vest, blazer, and a pair of nice pants, white socks, nice shoes.
And as you said they’d have their student ID (most likely on a lanyard of some kind) and their school bag that definitely has their textbooks, notebooks, laptop in it.
Aka all things that probably aren’t built to really be running around a forest/over land with.
So when the Reader meets the Chain things are probably gonna be a little weird.
Given how Reader is dressed the Chain’s going to be quite curious about Reader. They wouldn’t have seen clothes such as theirs before.
Likewise Reader is thinking they’ve somehow been throw into a Ren fair or something.
Their first meeting would probably go something like:
“What are you wearing?”
“What are you wearing?”
After things get explained and everyone gets over their internal panic (aka mainly Reader, bestie is NOT gonna be sound of mind for a few days while dealing with everything) I feel like Sky and Warriors would be the most understanding of Reader going to school and wearing a uniform.
Y’know since Sky went to the Knight academy and Warriors I’m sure went to some form of a Knight academy too (I’ve really gotta check out a play through of his game). And in then they probably had to deal with wearing the academy uniforms.
Every member of the Chain would find the modern school system really interesting, but many would point out the impracticality of Reader clothes 😂
“How are you supposed to fight or travel great distances in this?”
“You don’t. I’m only supposed to travel the length to my classes and pray to god it doesn’t rip because this shit’s expensive.”
The Chain be baffled. These clothes are expensive!? They aren’t even magical!
And we haven’t even gotten to what’s in Reader’s bag.
Y’all ever seen Lord of The Rings with Gollum and the one ring? His precious? Yeah, that’s Reader with their bag.
Their textbooks? Fricken expensive, Reader isn’t gonna lose them to some stupid pig demon because the dude got a little stabby.
Their laptop? Over Reader’s cold dead body. You know expensive that is? Not to mention all the essays and homework they have on it.
Their notebooks? Those are filled to the brim with notes and things they need to know for upcoming tests. Handwritten notes that Reader has had to scramble to write down because the professors flips through the slides so fast.
Yeah, Reader is gonna go ape shit on ANYONE or ANYTHING that gets near their stuff.
Needles to say if the Chain is curious about anything of Reader’s they’ve got to have Reader’s supervision when looking at things.
Reader is like a hawk with their possessions. If they had to bring their stuff with them, they’re sleeping with that stuff tucked into their arms like they’re cuddling a giant teddy bear.
Their uniform has been neatly put into a separate bag (because let’s be honest, their uniform isn’t made for the Links’s worlds and Reader isn’t going to want to get it dirty or ripped).
Over time Reader would probably trust Legend the most with their stuff. And sad to say, but they’d probably trust Wild and Wind the least.
“I can look after your stuff too [Name]!”
“Wild I just watched you break that sword and shield.”
“I was fighting bokoblins! It was bound to break!”
“It was a new sword and you broke it cause you slipped and smashed it against a rock.”
“… well that one wasn’t technically my fault. Technically it was the rock that broke it.”
“… you broke your shield by shield surfing over a spikey rock that I warned you about.”
“…”
