The 10th of January 2024 has marked one hundred years since the birth of Eduardo Chillida, one of the most popular and influential Spanish artists from the 20th century. With his roots in the Basque Country, his arms embraced horizons around the world, creating unique settings to bring society together. Chillida Leku Museum opened in year 2000. This is the place where Chillida developed many of his works before it was a museum. We have collaborated with Chillida family, and now Hauser & Wirth, to make this environment, where his work was rooted, the meaningful place to discover his oeuvre. A set of sculptures on the seafront called ‘el Peine del Viento’ (Comb of the Wind) is probably the best-known creation of the San Sebastian-born sculptor Eduardo Chillida; it is certainly one of the most popular places in the city. It consists of three nine-ton pieces of steel anchored into the rocks and lashed by the waves of the Bay of Biscay at the western end of the Bay of La Concha.
