There was a comment in one of the articles about drivers not liking the driver introductions saying 'it will only be at the big races' and actually that kind of reveals part of the problem with F1 today...
They're all 'big' races, they all give the same points (except sprint weekends), they all have 20 drivers there, 10 teams taking part, they all have an equal outcome in the championship standing, so why are F1 trying to create a tier system between them. (Rhetorical question... The answer is money)
And more to the point, if there were 'big races', from a fan perspective at least, Miami wouldn't be one of them. Only the second year, relatively poorly attended (I know they announced record attendance but last year sold out and this year had empty stands so the math ain't quite mathing), and not exactly the best racing on track. Instead F1 is trying to re-engineer the 'prestige' of these races to suit their highest bidders.
It'll be interesting which other races they try this at. My bet would be everything in a US friendly time zone plus Qatar and Abu Dhabi (although I wouldn't put it past Silverstone trying to replicate it too) but we'll see i guess...

About this blog, life and other overrated bullshit (German dadrunter)
Thank you for wasting your time by following shitty musicblogs like this and grabbing dirty badmade music you don´t want to listen anymore tommorrow and never again. I do the same. Sometimes. Now here comes the surprising “i am getting older and have 20 new children and police says i should stop my drugabuse a bit because it makes me buying sexy nuclear weapons in the street instead of looking for a job, wanking and bring the trash out to the spam folder” line. Done. Another: I am talking like an average Americanised middleclass idiot yet, now. Shit. Lets stop this. But how? Uhm... don´t know. Some other ideas and preferences:
1. I posted too much average or overrated bullshit here the last time. This time shall be over now. Quantity is also overrated. You know the big names of the game, yet, now. If not, skroll the blogarchieve and just listen to the 1300 audios I´ve posted, then you will know. Or ask an expert.
2. I want to make (ad) stickers for this blog in June. If you´re interested, just write a mail to horrorrrgrrrl at web dot de (guess there is not so much interest so I can send you a package with some stickers for free if you give your postal adress, but I don´t promise for free, but that the first 10 people will get a free package, that would be yet 22% of my followers [incl. bots and other strange beeings with sexual explicit material blogs following this blog]). In worst case I will tell you “sorry, give cash or stay stickerless.”
3. Speedcore becomes fashion. Its obvious. Look at all these suckers now uploading shitty fuckshit with commercial mellowlines and sexy photos and japanese sweet trendmanga shit and how much clicks some sets have on Youtube and that DJs do speedcoresets at Red Bull sponsored DJ-Competitions and so on. All these “MTV speedcore fashionshow” jokes are lapsed.
You needn´t be a culture philosopher to see that it was very probable this will happen. Anyhow, relax, sit down and enjoy watching how (underground) history repeats, watch hysterical, young people selling their souls for nothing, watch fucked up old people selling their souls and names for a little peace of the shitty pink cake, watch how another subculture will go down, it hadn´t that much to offer and “speedcore against racism” didn´t include “against sexism”, “against dumbism” and/or “against staying a drugged narrow-minded asshole all life long”. This was always obvious. +You are not the hardest, sickest and most respected undergroundperson in the world anymore, if you wear a “speedcore-something” T-Shirt now. And if you wear it on your marriage, you will stay a fucked up fool. Yet because marrying is for fucking pussies and you can´t conceal this. Marriage is in general conservative bullshit and an important column of a fucked up repressive system that eats your soul as the sellout of subcultures, cultural appropriatation, ignoring sexism and other forms of hierachy in one´s (sub-)culture and Red Bull DJ-Contests are. And so on. (Much to say, nothing to add).
Ways to deal with that:
- Get your piece of cake! Make a facebookaccount that contains “speedcore” or shitty folders on Soundcloud, connect it with stuff or events you want to sell or design longboards with shitty skullframed speedcorelogos (don´t forget to add a weapon!) and add 20000 users whos name contains also “speedcore” and/or ”hakkuh”, “noisekick”, “komprex” or “terror”. If you want more clicks on SC, make some “Early speedcore” sets containing the obvious tracks of DOA, Amiga shock force and so on.
- Go Extratone and tell everyone (really everyone) that you are still harder than em all and that you listened to speedcore long time ago. But now its to slow for you. Maybe some will pay attention and suck your genital for this extra hardness. Extratone is part of the game, but some hillbillies & noobs will always think its not. Buy extratone stocks instead of speedcore stocks. Wear an Extratone shirt at your boyfriends marriage. Thats cute.
- Ignore the trend. Well these people at the bar of your party sure aren´t hippsters or just stupid little teenies who try to look hard, its totally cool underground people who know what the shit is like, they will share love with you, they will support you and add fancy filters before uploading the photos of your drugged dancemoves on instagramm they´ll share with thousands of nice looking bots and people, The scene was always full of assholes and fuckheads, so where is the difference? Lets talk about this in some years, again.
- Quit with music! Do sports, get religious or study creative customer based speedcore management on your local university after having saved enough money and done all the other shit, enhancement drugs are healthier than partydrugs some people say.
- Fight the trend! Come to the next party with a baseballbat and destroy all cars and people with Noisekick, Komprex, P.O.S. (Where would you draw the line?) or “Terror Worldwide” T-Shirts or logos, sell ratpoison-interlarded speed and pills (the “true people” are used that, they wont die, only the posers will die!), start pogo each 5 minutes or each Cannibal Corpse-Sample (same), hack accounts of all people using masks, tits and other bullshit in their profiles to “gain” anything, the only thing they gain is death!!!! Make some “dos and don´ts videos, texts and vlogs about prohibited and non prohibited artists, samples, tracknames, logo contents and colours you may wear on a party or on your avatar and look for some sheeps who will obey to all you will preach them. Your sect is the only way to keep the true spirit alive!
-Cry! If this doesn´t help, kill yourself! All our lives, values and identities were based on the power of true speedcore (speedcore will never die, life begins with speedcore and so on...), so how can you deal with the fact that all you believed in and lived for is now rotting away to an average piece of shit? Speedcore was so clean once (you could eat from the dancefloor), it was so beautiful once, so strong and cool and making life worthful, but now they will soon sell shirts with a gameboy that has the word “speedcore”written instead of “Tetris” on the frame on H&M, Zalando and Pimkies, also for kids in 152 and 164, Satan will not help you because he´s the new manager of H&M men´s world, so all you believed in is ridiculous now. You could believe in yourself, but you are just a slave to the rhythm and rhythm is a dancer and your master is now a servant, thank god there´s enough other authorities and illusions left to believe in. Not? Hm...
If you need a better solution call the police or ambulance. My good humour has also gone during the last time.
4. Nothing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also los:
So, fertig.

WELCOME TO DAEGU !!
loading dossier on IM DAESEONG —— please be sure to take a look at the checklist before venturing around town.
BASIC STUFF.
FACECLAIM: matthew kim / big matthew (B.M) MUSE’S NAME: im daeseong PRONOUNS: he/him GENDER: cismale AGE: twenty six years old
PERSONALITY.
POSITIVE TRAITS: generous, affectionate, kind-hearted NEGATIVE TRAITS: competitive, impulsive, short-tempered. MUSE AESTHETICS: bloody hands from fighting , takes no shit , constantly has an extra helmet for his motorcycle , a teddy bear disguised as a lion . QUOTE: one step. one punch. one round at a time.
BACKGROUND.
ok so daeseong was born in daegu but moved to los angeles at the age of 3, so he was americanised a LOT,, for the longest time, he spoke english better than korean and it was like that until he returned permanently to korea at the age of 14
they were always back and forth between the two over the years, but he still spent the majority of time in the states
they originally moved to los angeles because of his father’s job – he was a producer for a big network and he got an opportunity in america so they took off !! the network got shut down years and years later and daeseong’s dad was like LOL YEET and moved the fam back to korea !!
baby daeseong was v much full of energy and his parents tried putting him in a number of things – singing wasn’t for him, dancing was alright, but he still couldn’t remember the moves good enough, and instruments just weren’t his thing either – he did play piano, but that was thanks to years and years of practice. but anything else thrown his way wasn’t his thing.
his parents put him into american football to begin with,, and they learned quick enough that dae was also a pretty angry kid so he wasn’t afraid to run hEAD FIRST INTO PEOPLE
and so that’s the thing that got him put into boxing and ofc he thrived there,, he was taught so much and told to calm himself down,, it wasn’t aLL about fighting and he absolutely fell in love with it !! remember i mentioned he was alright at dancing???? that just helped him with his footwork in fighting
talking about falling in love with things, he fell in love with jinae and rory pretty quickly when he met the pair – they always seemed to make him smile, and as a quiet, aggressive kid, it definitely helped him a lot.
so like i said before he returned to korea at 14
he joined another gym there and life took off for lil dae !!! by that point he had been boxing for eight years, and those eight years led up to him attending and fighting in the 2008 beijing olympics – he didn’t win a medal, but he did do well enough where everyone was talking about him and would be keeping their eye on him for the next four years after that to see if he would be competing again
and he did !! he competed in the london 2012 olympics and thats when he brought a medal home for south korea in boxing at the age of 19 !!! he placed second after losing out to the united states,,, but ofc he was a lil happy about them winning bc he considers there a second home
because of the success, he was invited on a few variety shows and created an impression there too – granted that was back in 2012-2013, but he’s not interested in all of that now.. he prefers to let his work speak for himself
after his win, he opened up his own boxing gym so he could start teaching younger people, and those who were less fortunate so they could learn how to properly fight and fight for a sport, rather than anything else. it’s something he’s very proud of, and a place that has grown and grown through the years since late 2013-early 2014
ofc he competed in the 2016 olympics in rio and came home with a bronze medal,,, which BUMMED HIM TF OUT but he still took it as an honour – after that, he just had a few title fights here and there but he did absolutely nothing in 2017 concerning boxing, which had people questioning what was happening with daeseong
he decided to enlist quietly to the military in may 2017 and served with the marines for 21 months. he’ll easily tell anyone that it’s the hardest thing he’s ever done, more so than fighting.
he got out in february of 2019 and instantly jumped back into his gym and into training again
he’s waiting for the right time to schedule a fight,, he knows he isn’t up to his standard that he was once at but he does want to get back into the ring for a legit fight
and it’s something a lot of people are waiting for since his return from the military
even more so, he wants that gold medal from the olympics before its too late,,, but gearing up for 2020 seems TOO SOON and waiting until 2024 is too long so he’s v v v v conflicted
he’s a real sweetheart despite doing something scary lol wants nothing but the best for people, always there to lend a hand, always there to help absolutely anyone around him
INTERVIEW.
1. what do you do for a living?? e.g. student, full time work, part time, etc.
“i’m a professional boxer, who has been fighting for over ten years, representing south korea.”
2. how and where do you see yourself being in 5 years?? e.g. career wise, financially, relationship and connections wise.
“i’d love to win another few titles.. i haven’t had much experience fighting in the heavyweight class considering i finished serving for my country about five months ago. i want to get back into it, so hopefully that’ll happen for me in the next five years. i want to continue with charity work, with helping less fortunate kids get into boxing – it’s not an aggressive sport, it’s more about discipline. and it’ll keep kids busy rather than getting into other trouble. relationship-wise? it’s early days and we haven’t spoken about it.. but i’d love to settle down with my girlfriend, start a family… yeah.”
3. where do you fall on daegu’s societal hierarchy spectrum?? e.g. are you one of the upper class wealthy types or the lower class ‘underground’ type and how has this affected your attitude towards the hierarchy of the town??
“i would be upper-class, but considering i put in a lot of finance into teaching and at my gym, i’m more of a middle class – which i’m completely fine with. everyone should be equal in my opinion and those who are the higher upper class, the elites, need to help those in need.”
4. how do you feel about where you personally fit in the social hierarchy of the town and what are your intentions because of this?? e.g. do you aim to create a more equal, modern system for all citizens or are you quite happy with how the situation stands between the wealthy and the lesser off??
“i’d love to create a more equal society for everyone. everyone should be treated the exact same, and to a standard that everyone can benefit from, no matter what. as much as i want it to happen, i doubt it will.. which is unfortunate. it’s easy to respect and love those no matter what their gender, age, experience, way of life.. everyone needs to help out.”
5. what are your goals and aspirations for the future??
“more fighting, more helping society and the future of daegu – all these kids who need the help, be happy and keep loving those who care and love me.”

Rotorua and Maori culture
Before I start writing my new entry, I’d like to take the chance to say that everything I write in this blog is of course from my own perspective or it’s things I’ve been told, heard or read about. By this I mean to say that, on the one hand, whichever I explain from my own perspective is subjective and some people might have different opinions. On the other hand, things I’ve been told or have heard might not be true or depict reality. So, by writing this blog, I just mean to speak about the way I, myself, experience and perceive NZ and do not intend to offend anyone by any means. 😊
Back to Rotorua and Maori culture, if I’m not wrong, this city is said to be the place in NZ with the highest percentage of Maori population. A good way of getting to know their culture is to visit Maori villages. Ohinemutu, for instance, is a small one in the centre of Rotorua, which you can visit for free.

Some of the renowned Maori villages are Mitai, Tamaki, Te Puia and Whakarewarewa. They all offer similar tours. I personally just visited the Mitai Village, because I heard it’s the best one and I got tickets for half price by working in Rotorua. :D It was a very interesting experience. I had already been in touch with Maori on Waiheke Island, but being told about/shown their culture and roots at Mitai was amazing!
I visited Mitai with my wwoofer colleagues. We got picked up from the hostel and were taken to the village in a small bus with some other people from the tour. The village was just 10 minutes away. We were all first gathered in a big room, where we had the food buffet later on, and had a welcome speech. The spokesman was very funny and welcomed almost everyone in the room in their different languages. That was impressive! Then we went outdoors in the village itself and were shown how Maori cooked their food traditionally. The method is called “hangi”, which involves the use of heated rocks buried in a pit oven. The hangi meal we had at the end of the tour included: lamb and chicken, potatoes (riwai), sweet potato (kumara), stuffing (bread, mixed herbs, corn, carrots and peas), seafood chowder, chocolate log, pavlova and steamed pudding with custard. It was delicious!! Also, the drinking water we got was taken from the freshwater river that they have in the village. It tasted really nice, even if water doesn’t taste like anything!

Hangi
At the river, we were shown how Maori used to travel in their wakas (canoes). A waka is usually elaborately carved and decorated, consisting of a main hull formed from a single hollowed-out log along with a carved upright head and tailboard. Its main purpose was to river/sea travel with and fish. Maori are said to be expert hunters and fishermen. According to history, Maori are Polynesian descendants. That is, their ancestors, Polynesian peoples, arrived in NZ on canoes from the Pacific Islands and settled in NZ. They lived in tribal groups and hunted and fished.  After centuries of isolation in the country, they developed their own culture, language and mythology.

Waka
Here’s a video of the waka-show:

The most spectacular part of the tour was the performing show. The Mitai tribe showed us traditional singing and dancing (“poi”) and the usage of weaponry. The most renowned dance is “haka”: The haka is a type of ancient Maori war dance traditionally used on the battlefield, as well as when groups came together in peace. Haka are a fierce display of a tribe's pride, strength and unity. Actions include violent foot-stamping, tongue protrusions and rhythmic body slapping to accompany a loud chant. The words of a haka often poetically describe ancestors and events in the tribe's history.
Tumblr media
A poem about haka
Today, haka are still used during Maori ceremonies and celebrations to honour guests and show the importance of the occasion. This includes family events, like birthdays and weddings. The first haka I saw in my life was on youtube, a performance in a Maori wedding. My first thought was like: “wtf?”. It just looks funny and scary at the same time. Them, pulling out their tongues, shouting, their eyeballs popping out…As if they were literally on drugs! But if you perceive it from a cultural perspective, it has a lot of meaning for them. It could be comparable to Spanish flamenco. If you think about it, it’s a similar conception: singing, clapping hands, dancing, and all coming “from the guts”.

This is the haka performance that we saw at Mitai:

Haka are also used to challenge opponents on the sports field. New Zealand sports teams' practice of performing a haka before their international matches has made the haka more widely known around the world. It was during the rugby season this winter (European summer) that I started loving haka! I’m not a fan of rugby or rather of watching sports on TV in general, but I must admit, I always tried to make it to watch the first few minutes of each game just to see the All Blacks (the NZ national rugby union team) perform haka! :D

A feature of the dancing movements that caught my attention was the shaking of the hands. It literally looked like them having Parkinson’s disease – Note: I don’t mean this in an offensive way! This movement is called “wiri” and has to do with Maori’s affinity to nature: To some, the wiri represents the heatwaves that shimmer on a hot day, and to others, it represents the sparkling of the waters as the sun dances across the waves.
A very interesting cultural thing is also the traditional Maori greeting, “hongi”. Hongi is used at traditional meetings among Maori people and on major ceremonies and serves a similar purpose to a formal handshake. It is done by shaking hands and pressing one's nose and forehead, at the same time, to another encounter. While shaking hands, the left hand of each person may be placed on the other's near shoulder. The head is bent, the eyes are lowered or closed, and noses are pressed together either once or twice. Through the exchange of this greeting, one is no longer considered “Manuhiri”, a visitor, but rather “Tangata whenua”, one of the people of the land. The term “Tangata whenua” is one that essentially states that you are to be unified with those performing the hongi with you, by which you are to illustrate your loyalty and appreciation for the land itself.

This greeting was shown to me when I lived on Waiheke Island by a Maori man who used to hang out with us at the hostel I lived at. The pressing of the foreheads together and staring at each other was pretty intimidating. This guy told me, traditionally they do this greeting to feel if you can be trusted in their land. Like I just explained, it’s a way to show respect and trust.
Tattoos are another specific feature of the Maori culture. The concept of Maori tattooing is called “Ta Moko”. Ta Moko was like a history of a person's achievements and represented their status in their tribe. It also served as a reminder to people about their responsibility in life. The different meanings of tattooing were linked to several aspects, such as family (physical lives), prosperity, travel, strength, your career path, etc. For Maori, tattooing was (and for some, still is) a rite of passage, which meant it was highly revered and ritualised. Therefore, it was a huge honour to have Ta Moko. Only people of rank or status were allowed to have, and could afford to have, tattoos. Ta Moko was worn by both men and women. It was applied to the face and buttocks of men, and to the chin, lips and shoulders of women. Since the Maori people consider the head to be the most sacred part of the body, the most popular kind of Maori tattoo was the facial tattoo, which was composed of curved shapes and spiral like patterns. The left side of the face related to the father's history and the right side to the mother's history. The Maori facial tattoo was not only seen as a sign of rank though, but was also used as a kind of identification card. For men, their face tattoo showed their accomplishments, status, position, ancestry and marital status. It is considered highly insulting to be unable to recognise a person’s power and position by his Moko.

The last part of the tour at Mitai was a short walk through the bush in the village. We were shown some glowworms and told about their lives at the villages. A particular thing that I found interesting was the “use” of the silver fern. Silver fern seems to be, at least partly, the emblem of NZ. Apparently, Maori used the silver fern leaves to guide themselves in the bush. Just like Hansel & Gretel leaving bread crumbs to find their way back home, Maori would place silver fern leaves upside down on the way, because their silver colour would reflect at night, so they could orient themselves

The last curiosity I’d like to highlight is the New Zealand accent, this including both Kiwi and Maori. In comparison to the Aussie accent, the NZ one is clearer. To me, at least, it sounds more British-like. The Aussie accent is a lot more Americanised. Someone told me that the British settlers in NZ came from Kent, therefore it sounds more British. If this is true, I don’t know. How to recognise NZ accent? There’s a distinctive feature that makes it very easy to find out. They swap the sounds: /ɛ/ and /iː/ or /ɪ/. It sounds funny when you get used to it, but till then, you get VERY confused. Why? Because this creates a lot of homophones. For the non-linguists, I’ll give some examples. When NZ people say “bread” /brɛd/, you hear “breed” /briːd/, and so it goes on with: pen/pin, wet/wheat, when/win, etc. AND the funniest one, of course: deck/dick! :D
Here’s a post I’ve seen in some hostels on how to speak NZ-English, which depicts the situation pretty much accurately:

An interesting linguistic feature of the Maori language, in particular, for the Spanish is the vowels. We both share the same exact vowel sounds: a, e, i, o, u, by which it’s easier for us Spanish to pronounce Maori. Also, the “r” sound is similar to the Spanish one.
Again, from the linguistic point of view – I just love this! – Kiwi slang is pretty funny. They use a lot of “bro” (Aussie “mate”), “good on you” (which sounds like “goodonion”), “all good” (Aussie “no worries”), and the best one: “sweet as”, which, of course, sounds like “sweet arse”. The first time someone told me “sweet as” I turned and said: “Excuse me?!”

What is AMERICANIZATION? What does AMERICANIZATION mean? AMERICANIZATION meaning - AMERICANIZATION pronunciation - AMERICANIZATION definition - AMERICANIZATION explanation - How to pronounce AMERICANIZATION? Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under http://ift.tt/yjiNZw license. In countries outside of the United States, Americanization or Americanisation is the influence American culture has on the culture of other countries, such as their popular culture, media, cuisine, technology, business practices, or political techniques. The term has been used since at least 1907. While not necessarily a hostile term, it is most often used by critics in the target country worried about the tendency. Americanization has become more prevalent since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989-91, and especially since the advent of widespread high speed Internet use starting in the mid-2000s. In Europe, in recent years there is growing concern about Americanization through Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple Inc. and Uber, among many other Internet-oriented corporations based in the U.S. European governments have increasingly expressed concern regarding privacy issues, as well as antitrust and taxation issues regarding the new American giants. The Wall Street Journal in 2015 reported "deep concerns in Europe’s highest policy circles about the power of U.S. technology companies." Within the United States, the term Americanization refers to the process of acculturation by immigrants or annexed populations (e.g. the Californios) to American customs and values. Hollywood (the American film and television industry) since the 1920s has dominated most of the world's media markets. It is the chief medium by which people across the globe see American fashions, customs, scenery and way of life. In general, the United States government plays only a facilitating role in the dissemination of films, television, books, journals and so on. However, during the occupation of Germany, Italy and Japan after World War II, the government played a major role in restructuring the media in those countries to eliminate totalitarianism and promote democracy, against communism. In Germany, the American occupation headquarters, Office of Military Government, United States (OMGUS) in 1945 began its own newspaper based in Munich. Die Neue Zeitung was edited by German and Jewish émigrés who fled to the United States before the war. Its mission was to destroy Nazi cultural remnants, and encourage democracy by exposing Germans to how American culture operated. There was great detail on sports, politics, business, Hollywood, and fashions, as well as international affairs. Copies of American-based TV programs are re-broadcast around the world, many of them through American broadcasters and their subsidiaries (such as HBO Asia, CNBC Europe and CNN International). Many of these distributors broadcast mainly American programming on their TV channels. In 2006, a survey of 20 countries by Radio Times found seven American shows in the ten most-watched: CSI: Miami, Lost, Desperate Housewives, The Simpsons, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Without a Trace and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. American films are also extremely popular around the world, often dominating cinemas. Out of the top-50 highest-grossing films of all time, 35 of them were made in the United States, with the top-3 all being American. Often part of the negotiating in free trade agreements between the U.S. and other nations involves screen quotas. One such case is Mexico, which abolished screen quotas following the establishment of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with the U.S. Recently South Korea has agreed to reduce its quota under pressure from the U.S. as part of a free trade deal.
