I hope they release a concert version of the whole album post touring.I feel like some songs sound even better live than recorded.Like their performance of caroline in manila day 2
Omg PLEASE YESSS. Or maybe like an “at their very best” album. With all the songs from Being Funny (minus human too cuz I don’t think they’ve done that?) plus some greatest hits. Like The Birthday Party from Australia, “Ugh” (dear god Matty gets so into it when he sings it these days and he’s vocals have improved so much since 2016 I need a live version of ugh plZzzz) and obviously robbers, sex, somebody else, etc. like just ones they’ve performed at select venues and some staples. I’d sell my soul for that.

5 Essential Tips in Choosing the Best Caterers
Tumblr media
Hosting an event requires effort and dedication, especially when choosing the right food to serve. You are fortunate if you hire the best caterers in California to make your celebrations not only memorable but hassle-free.
During these significant events it is essential to ensure the quality and presentation of the dishes on the table. The passion of the chefs and the staff in serving delicious dishes is also a must.
So if you are looking for these qualities then hiring a catering company that provides high-quality culinary services is your best option.
But how do you hire the right caterers with the right qualities? How do you plan the perfect menu? And how do you throw traditional Filipino events such as weddings, anniversaries, and birthday parties like the ones back at home?
Well, consider these tips when choosing the best caterers. Read on and make sure to gain good insights!
#1. Check for Reviews and References
Seeking out good reviews is a good way to start looking for the perfect caterer, as this gives you a definite idea of their food, quality, and service.
Make sure to spend some time reading customer feedback through online sources such as official websites, business listings and social media platforms. This will help you decide whether to continue with their catering services.
You may also inquire about recommendations and experiences from family, friends, or previous clients. Their reviews can be considered as reliable sources since you will likely have a similar experience to theirs.
#2. Schedule a Menu Tasting
Even if a caterer is highly recommended and serves appealing food, it is still a good idea to read the menu and try out the dishes before hiring them.
Catering businesses like Manila Food Mart, a Turo-Turo restaurant in California, provide a vast catering menu of Filipino cuisine that you must definitely enjoy with your guests. Rest assured that you have plenty of dishes to choose from like your favorite kare-kare, caldereta and bopis! Choose as well those celebration noodles, the all-time Pinoy favorite pancit canton and pancit palabok.
Schedule a menu tasting and request various samples to determine the flavor, quality, and presentation. Taking the time to savor the food allows you to choose and create the perfect menu for your event.
Additionally, this gives you the opportunity to find out if the caterers are well-versed in their products and services. You can try by asking about the ingredients used as well as how they prepare the dishes. If a caterer is unable to answer these questions, then that is considered a red flag. Opt to hire only those who understand real tasty food like Manila Food Mart!
#3. Expertise with Events
Another tip for choosing the right caterer is the ability to accommodate your specific type of event. Find one that is willing to meet your expectations by discussing the style, theme, and size of your venue.
Moreover, it is important that the caterer’s specialty matches your event. If for instance you decide to host a classic Filipino birthday party, make sure to hire Manila Food Mart with their catering services that include serving traditional Pinoy dishes for authentic Filipino celebration.
Other than providing delicious meals on the table, every caterer must reflect the formality of an event through their services. So do not hesitate to share how you want to celebrate these momentous days and see if your chosen caterer has any experience with this kind of event.
#4. Provides Menu Flexibility
Your chosen caterer may have certain recommendations and specialties they are known for, but the ability to go beyond their standard menu options is also important.
High-quality catering services must be willing to make changes or adjust the menu according to your preferences, especially if you are expecting guests with allergies or dietary restrictions.
At Manila Food Mart, you can choose from a variety of chicken, pork, beef, and seafood dishes to suit different tastes. So if you have guests allergic to seafood, you can try vegetable-based recipes like ampalaya con tofu (sautéed bitter gourd with tofu) or tortang talong (eggplant omelet).
Dishes with your choice of meat are also available for catering, such as afritada, a Filipino chicken or pork stew cooked in a tomato-based sauce with potatoes, carrots, and bell peppers.
Consider informing caterers of your menu options and requirements ahead of time to avoid inconveniences and ensure that your guests will enjoy the food throughout the event.
#5. Excellent Customer Service
Choosing a catering business that serves delicious food is the safest option for planning a successful event. But if your caterer is not open to any of your ideas, you may want to reconsider.
Make sure to hire caterers who treat you as valued customers by listening to your suggestions and helping you plan your event at every step of the way.
Catering services such as Manila Food Mart offer the best Filipino dishes in Orange County and have accommodating staff filled with enthusiasm and hospitality.
Allow your guests to enjoy both the food and the occasion by choosing a catering company you most feel comfortable with and whose work you respect.
The Takeaway
The search for the best caterer doesn’t have to be difficult as long as you keep these essential tips in mind. With the key ingredients of unique flavors, excellent service, and a quality dining experience, you are bound to find the perfect caterer.
Located in Lake Forest, Orange County, California, Manila Food Mart is here for you to relive and recreate the nostalgic feeling of joyous gatherings and special events by serving the most tasty, delicious Filipino dishes.

The Island Has You Covered This Rainy Season With Their New Menu
The rainy season usually puts a damper on our plans. Al fresco dining has mostly been the sought-after setup during the pandemic, but when the rainy months arrive, how can we enjoy these outdoor experiences? Don’t worry, because The Island has got us covered with their fully tented al fresco dining venue as well as a new Dinner Menu that promises comfort food and nostalgia with their new take on Filipino dishes.
You can find The Island at The Palace Manila complex in Uptown Bonifacio, right beside the Uptown Mall on 9th Avenue corner 32nd Street in Bonifacio Global City. It is one of the country’s biggest outdoor restaurants and is open from Thursday to Sunday from 6:00pm to late in the evening. Head out to The Island with your officemates after a long workweek or go on a night out with your friends for a night of good food and awesome drinks.
It was a rainy Friday evening when we went to The Island but we really just wanted to relax and enjoy the evening after a very tiring week. It was still quite early in the evening so thankfully there weren’t any long lines yet. Reservations are highly encouraged but walk-ins will also be accommodated depending on availability.
Patrons will enjoy dining with friends and family in this very colorful and huge outdoor establishment. No need to worry about the rain because the place is fully covered from the rain clouds, so you can still enjoy the cool breeze and the trendy ambiance even during the rainy season.
There are several dining areas to choose from at The Island, each with its own quaint charms. You can choose a table near the bar if you are hungry and want some quick orders.
This area is best suited for big groups but there are also some cozy dining spots on the side for more intimate dates.
If you are coming here for post-dinner drinks, then the sofas and tables at the center of The Island should be the spot for you and your friends. This is also closer to the DJ booth so you can dance and party the night away.
The Island also offers a couple of private VIP rooms for exclusive events like birthday parties, graduation parties, corporate activities, or any other celebration you can think of.
These rooms can accommodate bigger groups and come with their own bars as well.
Come early because The Island has its Happy Hour promotions from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Take advantage of their Buy 1 Take 1 offers with shots starting at only P80. You can also order some cocktails like Darla’s Fizz (P320), a creamy concoction made with gin, strawberry, soy milk, and egg white. There's also the Legends of the Hidden Temple (P320) which is a Yes, Please classic. This comes with a mix of bourbon, green mango, tamarind, and lime as a twist to the classic whisky sour.
On the other hand, you can also go for some healthier beverages like the Lemon Yakult Shake (P150) or fruit shakes like the Watermelon Shake (P150).
But the main reason I am here is to try The Island’s brand new menu. The Palace Manila’s Head Chef Ron Cruz pays tribute to our Filipino heritage and created a delectable lineup of local Filipino dishes. These will give you a taste of home with dishes that our moms and lolas would cook for the family.
We ordered the Cheesy Baked Oysters (P390) for our starters. These yummy oysters are baked with quickmelt cheese and garlic miso butter. Each piece was topped with generous amounts of cheese so I really enjoyed eating them.
Since everyone was drinking, we also tried the Crispy Drunken Shrimp (P520) so even the shrimp could get in the action. These white shrimp are deep-fried with hibe, fried onions, and spiced vinegar to create a tasty bite-sized appetizer.
We were quite curious about the Mussels and Oyster Sisig (P620) so we had to try it for ourselves. Instead of the usual pork sisig, this is a healthier seafood version which comes with calamansi soy, cream, onion, and chili.
Of course, we couldn’t have a proper Filipino dinner without rice, so we chose to get the indulgent Aligue Rice (P240). One order is good for up to three persons, but this is just right for my husband and me. The aligue rice is cooked with aligue butter and topped with onion frites to complete the dish.
The Ginger Garlic Crispy Tilapia (P470) is a crispy fried tilapia cooked with ginger garlic oil and served with patis sweet chili and salted egg tartare. It’s a good companion to our meaty main course which we are eager to dive into.
We couldn’t wait to get our hands on the Sizzling Short Ribs (P965). This big sizzling plate comes with big cuts of short ribs doused in truffle gravy and served with french beans, roasted garlic, and shiitake confit. It’s honestly good for up to three persons so we really enjoyed having this all to ourselves.
Groups and barkadas can also order their Boodle Feast which is good for 5 to 6 people. For our dessert, we went for the Mango Graham Wafer Meringue (P310) with its mango chutney and graham streusel topped with whipped cream.
The Island at The Palace is still one of the most popular nightlife destinations here in the city. Whether you are coming here after long hours at the office, or meeting up with your friends and college mates, The Island’s new menu and Happy Hour promotions will keep you all talking and partying all the way up to the late evening. See you at The Island!

Birth Day
I suppose it was understandable when I was seven, maybe forgivable when I was a self-involved cliché of a teen. But at 32, I’ve come to find—through the help of stoicism—that being entitled to a day is a delusion worth shattering. I had to learn first hand, on my 26th birthday, that the world doesn’t owe me anything just because it’s my birthday.
Tumblr media
This whole story took place on January 18, 2015, the first birthday I was to spend with Dylan. Earlier on, it had been destined to be an unforgettable day, made extra special by Pope Francis’ visit to the Philippines, which the two of us, despite our considerable reservations about the Catholic Church, decided to take part in. The Pope was scheduled to tour Manila and later hold Mass at the Quirino Grandstand. The date fell on a Sunday.
I had been so determined to make a day of it, that I even convinced my family, who’d be coming from Los Baños, to join me and Dylan. I proposed we grab dinner when it was all over. In the end, we all agreed that this was to be my birthday celebration.
From our F. B. Harrison apartment, Dylan and I braved the streets of Manila to catch a glimpse of the progressive Pope. We left once I got a text from my family that they were on their way. Soon enough it became clear that reaching the venue would be a challenge. It was hard enough we had to do it on foot, but of course we had to deal with the crowd. Prior to that day, I had only seen such large gatherings on television. We had the most grueling time getting through the dense throng, squeezing past countless elbows and knees, breathing each other’s air (possibly a death wish in today’s context), trying to outsmart everyone in finding the perfect spot in which to encounter the Pope, who was at this point still going around, peripatetic in his mobile. And the rain, oh, the rain didn’t help either. These were to be the most disgustingly profound hours of my life.
There were at least two reasons why my family—Pa, Ma, Marky, and Thea—weren’t able to join me and Dylan that day. For one, the crowds intimidated them. From a distance, it was just a sea of people on the streets. The view was even more overwhelming when seen from the LRT station. My family despised crowds, but I had hoped they’d make an exception for the Pope! And yes, because it’s my birthday, for me. Another reason, and perhaps what contributed the most to my disappointment, was that communication lines were jammed. Literally, the City of Manila had cut off phone reception as a safety measure. Because of this, my family had no way to contact me or Dylan, no way to find out where we were exactly, no way to be advised that they needed raincoats because umbrellas were not allowed, and no way to inform me that they had changed their minds about the whole day.
It was only when Dylan and I were out of the rain and sitting at our nice table in Makan Makan, Manila Ocean Park that I’d learn about my family getting as far as Quirino Avenue before deciding to retreat. They were also not going to share a meal with us at this nice restaurant because they were, in fact, already back home. I was stunned. Little did I know that when Dylan and I were singing Our Father with the mighty congregation, my family was watching the whole thing on our TV, roofed and dry.
I felt the flush of disappointment spread through me as my mother explained herself on the other line. Though she sounded equally disappointed at how things went, when she greeted me a happy birthday, I could only focus on how it all felt sucky. I remember feeling my feet, stinky and wrinkled in my rain-soaked socks. Dylan and I would’ve gone back to our apartment except we were starving and Manila Ocean Park was just right where we ended our rainy pilgrimage. Once I told him my family wasn’t coming, he ordered pad thai and laksa for just us two.
I put the phone down, frowned, and began to express my sentiments. Looking at Manila Bay through the glass walls, I articulated how disappointed I was, how I felt that my family didn’t really try, that they seem to have missed the point of the day—my birthday—and therefore didn’t try harder to come to me, to celebrate me. I must have gone in circles, as I tend to do when I act up. And I must’ve sounded exceedingly annoying, too, because the way Dylan castigated me right there, as soon as I finished saying my piece, even as the waiter meekly placed a large bowl of steaming laksa between us, was so intense and so surprising that it took me a few moments to realize that he was actually angry.
We’ve only been together six months at this point, and seeing him defend my family and—in the same breath—point out my entitlement was a strange sight and a debilitating experience to sit through. Caught off guard, I let my intangible ego take a beating and my tangible body, wet and worn out, release the tears. Once it started, it was hard to stop. I cried as I shakily brought a spoonful of soup to my mouth. I cried as I curled the noodles with my fork. I cried as I sipped water from my glass. I spat a few futile rebuttals. And when those were debunked, I concentrated back on my feelings. I never thought anyone could be chastised in this manner on their birthday, after seeing the Pope in the flesh, and after successfully squeezing through a throng of Filipino Catholics—all through a cold and steady January downpour.
Over the next few years, I would go back to that day and remember how I felt. But I also would mostly review my speech and behavior. I tried to look at the whole day from a stranger’s perspective, a mental exercise which has enabled me to question the way I’ve been taught about birthdays, and wonder where I could’ve picked up that sense of entitlement. Where had I learned to make other people sacrifice their comfort and do things they weren’t really up to just for me, because it was “my day”? Come to think of it, most birthday parties and weddings demand something from their guests—from wearing tacky, expensive, and uncomfortable clothes to requesting cold, hard cash as presents. So many of what we unquestioningly design and do breed such dangerous entitlement. Why had I felt that that was acceptable behavior?
In my internalized disappointment, I had forgotten all the other things that were beautiful about that day. I focused on what didn’t happen instead of what actually did, on what the circumstances should have offered me instead of what it so generously did, which were nothing short of magical: seeing Pope Francis (the Vicar of Christ!) up close, the electrifying singing and chanting, and the romantic dinner overlooking Manila Bay, paid for by Dylan’s credit card. I had focused on what I thought I deserved and should’ve gotten, insisting that I was entitled to them, no matter what the cost. And each time I revisited what transpired that day, I’d be more and more convinced that, though Dylan was harsh, he was also right.
Dylan would apologize a couple of years later, about the way he did what he did. This, after I expressed to him how that day scarred me. I accepted his apology, but quickly explained how it was, in retrospect, a good and necessary thing. I had needed shaking and, more than anything, someone who’d exorcise the brat out of me. It’s clear to me now that the only way I would’ve listened to reason was to have been dressed down, wet and hungry, on the day I had deemed for so long was mine.
Today, I have a completely new philosophy for and way of celebrating January 18th. Since 2016, I’ve deliberately associated my birthday with my mother, who really did most of the heavy lifting. I vowed that celebrating my birth should mean celebrating her and all the things she went through to bring me into this world. What I now do—which is what I did this year—is wait for 2:01 PM to strike (the exact time I was born), and spend the entire minute holding my mother in a tight embrace, thanking her for the life and nourishment she unselfishly gave, for choosing to carry me for as long as she did.
As for Dylan and I, well, we’ve since gone back to Makan Makan every year. We grew to highly regard their laksa, which we’d always order and consume to the last drop. This year, without meaning to, we ended up making vegan laksa for my birthday dinner at home. And except for Dylan’s cooking and that 2:01 PM hug, I’d say my birthday was pretty uneventful, modest, and every bit happy.

Have you made any life altering decisions lately? I didn’t 100% have a hand in making the decision, but my promotion’s been fast-tracked from senior associate to manager in just, like, 6 days. Effective immediately. Essentially stuff came up and management needed someone to step up to the plate, and that was me. They did ask my thoughts on it and gave me the chance to step back, but I’m just genuninely hungry for the experience so I didn’t hesitate in taking it. Here’s hoping it goes well!
Are you planning on leaving home soon? No plans for the next two weeks. My mom and sister have Covid and I probably have it too, so I’m not gonna go about spreading it when we’re back to getting 25,000 cases a day.
Do you go to college? if so, what course are you doing? I went to college; already graduated in 2020. I took up journalism.
Where is your favourite place to get pizza? My friends and I recently discovered this new restaurant called Sundays that turned out to serve bomb ass pizza. I know it’s too early to tell, but I might as well call it my new favorite place for pizza haha. How is your sense of direction? I’m absolutely terrible at giving and receiving directions. If I had to give directions, I’d rather lead the person to the destination myself.
Have you ever visited a Gaeltacht? I’ve never heard of that.
Do you have any physical traits that are bothering you lately? I’ve started to get acne scars on the right side of my face which by itself are bothersome, but at least they’re barely visible so it’s not something I’m actively stressing about.
What is your relationship status? Single.
Would you consider yourself open-minded? if so, in what ways? Yep; suffice it to say it’s enough to piss off my largely conservative family. My parents have started to lay off on me, but I know I’m still disturbing a portion of my senior relatives.
What is the closest store to you? We have a convenience store at the village clubhouse, but they jack up the prices so much that my family rarely goes there.
How is your life this year compared to this time last year? We’re nine days into 2022 and it’s already so much more peaceful. This time last year I literally still had my ex’s Christmas presents in my room, with me wondering what the fuck I should do with them. These days my biggest problem is just deciding if I should buy more photocards lol.
Do you have any songs currently stuck in your head? I have Blood Sweat & Tears playing on another tab, so that.
Have you made a CV? I’m not that experienced yet to fill up a CV, but I do have my resumé tucked in one of my folders just in case I have to whip it out.
Where is the last place you applied for a job? My current workplace. I applied as an intern, but they called me up for a full-time associate position a couple of months into the internship.
Are there any concert venues where you live? Not in this city. We do have a number of arenas scattered around Metro Manila, but the largest stadium we have is an hour away or so and is outside of the city.
Have you ever drank Abysinthe? Nah. I’m scared of trying it but at the same time I wanna have a sip of it at least once in my life hahaha.
Are you reading any good books at the moment? Nopes.
Which political party do you follow? I try not to be tangled in a particular party since party politics here has been messy...ever since the time we gained independence, I’d say lol. I have politicians I support, but that support is separate from the party they’re associated with.
Would you be able to live the Amish lifestyle? I don’t think so.
Which European city appeals most to you? Bergen and Geneva.
Do you use the tumbledryer much or just hang your clothes on the line? We have a drying rack.
Are there a lot of tourists where you live? No. I’ll usually find tourists in our island provinces, like Boracay. Never in Manila unless they’re executives on business trips haha.
Any plans for your next birthday? I want to go on an out-of-town trip with friends, but I’ll still have to see if that’s feasible. If not, I’ll probably just splurge on an album set or a bunch of photocards.
Do you have to use public transport often? No, I don’t commute.
Have you ever asked someone out on a date? Sure.
Do you suffer from social anxiety often? Not anymore. My job requires me to be extroverted 10 out of 10 times, so I’ve eventually learned how to come out of my shell. I don’t really have a problem approaching people anymore.
What was the most recent overwhelming thing you experienced. My premature promotion.
Whose grave did you last visit? It wasn’t a grave per se, but we last visited my grandpa who’s staying in a columbarium.

Kids in Love - Kygo
It was Thursday on the night of October 25, 2018 when I attended my first concert in the Mall of Asia Arena. I still remember the time when I burst with joy because I saw the announcement that Kygo is having an Asia tour for his album entitled “Kids in Love” for the first time. The event is about to happen during my birthday so I have high hopes that my mom would allow me to attend as a gift even though I’m 16 years old during that time. I showed her the advertisement and asked if I can buy a ticket to attend the event and I even requested if I can go on my own. Thankfully, she allowed me to go with the condition that my older brother will accompany me because I have to travel via commute.
I woke up the day of the event very excited and I started the day by attending the class and after that I went to a barbershop to get a new haircut. The gates will open by 9:00 PM so we started our trip by 6:30 PM. We rode a van routed to Trinoma then we traveled from North Avenue station to Taft Avenue station via Manila Metro Rail Transit System (MRT) and lastly, we rode a jeep bound to SM Mall of Asia. We arrived by 9:30 pm and my brother escorted me until I entered the arena.

Without You - Avicii (Kygo’s Avicii Tribute)
Finally! My long awaited event is about to happen. I can’t contain my joy and excitement during that time. I see a lot of diverse people on every floor. I used the escalator and every floor there are people welcoming us and giving us glow sticks but I didn’t accept it because I’m an environmentalist during that time. Even though it’s my second time to attend an event inside the Mall of Asia area, I had difficulty in finding the area where I belong. It is so huge especially when you are inside because it’s a five-level venue and it can accommodate a seating capacity of 15,000.
By 10PM when the pre-party started and the guests DJs played their set. It’s cold inside and I find myself sitting comfortably and lowkey vibing in the music because I don’t want to spend most of my energy and end up exhausted when Kygo performs his set.
By 10:30 PM when I grabbed a snack because I haven’t had my dinner yet. I went into the Food Alley to find food and as expected, the food was costly. I only bought a soft drink and a hotdog sandwich even though I also wanted a beer inside the typical red and white plastic party cup that time. I didn’t buy it because I thought it was not worth it for it’s cost but now I regret that because I could take the cup with me along with the glow stick as a souvenir for my first concert. After the set of the last guest DJ, I’m lowkey worried because it’s 11PM and I have exams tomorrow and Kygo is not performing yet.

First Time - Kygo
By 12 AM of October 26, 2018 when Kygo started to perform his set. I find myself along with the crowd dancing and singing our favorite music. It’s fascinating and amazing to see such a sight. It had great visuals and Kygo was joined by Justin Jesso and Bonnie McKee in performing some of the songs. Kygo is a good pianist and he even brought a music ensemble with him to join him in performing some instrumental parts of the set even though his genre is Electronic Dance Music (EDM). The concert ended by 2AM and I went home grateful and joyful with a beautiful memory that I will never forget. I really love music and I think many of the best places in the world are concert/music grounds, music festivals, raves, and theaters where you can see your favorite artists performing the music you love.

ti amo nyc! seeing phoenix 3x with feenix friends (jul 5 - 7 2018)
So! 3 days of phoenix with wonderful people in new york (my first time in nyc!), I don’t even know where to begin x.x (Pictures are on IG, video on YT). The Speciale shows are beautiful and incredible, and the boys put so much thought, detail, and love into it all. It was one of the best experiences in my life and it was so fun seeing everyone at the shows!!
under the cut is pretty much a rambling summary of the shows (amazing and adorably decorated), cute moments, and when we met them (ft. my fav convo with branco abt pokemon and witnessing brotherly tension)
💘 @andersfel @funkyphoenixfan @thesunwillshineagain
7/5 | Night 1 💗
the show The show was amazing! It had been 7 months since I had last seen them. We were between Deck and Chris, I settled for the second row (I could have squished to the barrier but it was more comfortable to just be behind a little). That day was super humid and hot, so this show was probably the most sweatiest, but so satisfying. It was such a fun time! We got consolation prizes which is always super great! And countdown for Mads aaaaa (it was her 21st birthday, guess who (Chris ofc) sung to her 😭!!!) It was such a beautiful moment. They played Goodbye Soleil first and she was a bit down, but once it finished, COUNTDOWN happened! She was so happy it was the best reaction (what a complete 180 lol). Telefono was such a tune to hear live, I loved it! They were using the telefono booth instead of the red telephone (after the show you could get a polaroid in the booth for $1, such a cute idea whaaaa!!).
I thought for the Speciale they chose to use different guitars (Chris’s mint green, Branco’s array of guitars (black and red) instead of the og guitars (telecaster and cream bullet), but turns out they just didn’t have their regular guitars in time because their gear was still being held by air france until the 4th show lol.
after the show
thomas After the show, we went outside to wait (we should have wandered the disco afterparty that was happening inside! The boys were hanging out meeting fans). About an hour later, Thomas came outside first wearing a white tee and backpack on. It was a small group outside so he went around to everyone, signing stuff and taking photos, and he hugged everyone too! He was so nice and gentle as usual. He left shortly after because he said it was past his kids bedtime and he had to put them into bed, something sweet like that 😭. Romy was at the show (with we think, Cedric’s daughter?) and they were helping run the merch stand! It was too cute!! They were so sweet. They were also in front of the barrier at some songs on the far right jumping and having such a good time during the show! It was so pure. (And I guess Vee is bffs with Romy now hahaha).
deck Ok next up, Deck came out and was very chatty and goofy. He didn’t go to the afterparty. Vee said something about him being a charmer and he imitated playing a violin to be romantic, oh, he is so precious. Deck was really examining the Rally single I brought to get signed and he was like oh this is very rare and was looking at it, front and back. He was so nice and so cute 💘.
branco (and chris) Branco came out next and was so pretty wearing a koi fish print shirt. He has the best shirts. B was very friendly. Mads brought up the Coco thing (he signed as Coco on her INBLT booklet from the Manila show) and we got to hear him talk about his nickname again, it was so sweet and precious (his nieces call him Coco if you need a refresher). I love hearing him speak in general aaaa (you know me). Gotta say I also loved hearing him yell “Monsieur Mazzalai” at Chris because he was the last one needed to sign Mad’s awesome jacket. Chris made a face at him 😂. I had a few minutes with B and I am v happy he signed his name with the music note doodle! Sadly I didn't have the time to get to Chris bc he had to leave in a separate car (the rest of the boys got into one van, I remember Branco had a whole foods market bag aha). I did get to watch Chris run to the car with his suitcase which was funny and adorable, I love him.
7/6 | Night 2 💗
the show They did long distance call!! Aaah! I was finally at the barrier, right between Thomas and Deck (literally the center can you believe it). The show was amazing as usual and they had balloons that would rain down on us in italian flag colors. It was at this show where a lot of balloons were falling onto the stage so Deck was using his bass and hitting the balloons (og it was so precious). He was having so much fun. I got a Deck wink during the show too aaa 💖 . Also, they played Lovelife with Giorgio Poi which was really cool! The boys had told us yesterday that they had a special planned for tonight, and this was that! And, I got to touch Thomas’s hair lol he was in our section a lot! 💘
after the show
so many faces We stayed for the afterparty because the boys had told us last night to stay and meet them here. It was funny because we were all awkward at the party so we followed them around like children while other people were actually partying.
We saw Sofia!!! She was gorgeous, literally radiating. It was unreal to see her in person. Cosima was with her! We also saw Chris’s girlfriend! Ah they were so cute (they were getting sake, dancing by the DJ, it was adorable). Chris was going around everywhere, drinking a lot of sake and beer lol. I flagged him down once to say hi and he said hello and he pat my back and LEFT 😂. So I had to flag him down again to ask for rally to be signed. It was a bit uncomfortable to follow them around and when there’s a moment/you get the guts to say hi they are either with someone else or with family and you’re just standing there so awkwardly lol. It’s easier to talk to them when they’re outside vs inside with music playing and it being a bit dark. I think we all agreed on this.
branco I also spotted Branco too! I found him near the back by the merch and asked for a photo again. My phone was such a failure that it took a while to get a photo so when it was done he asked if it was okay, twice 😭 (it’s still a bit blurry but I think it’s cute). Sweet bb koala you are so precious 🐨.
7/7 | Night 3 💗
the show We were back at the barrier for the last night (for us), back to the right side between Deck and Chris. We got to hear playground love (waaaaaaah) and tuttifrutti! Playground love was so beautiful og 😭.
Throughout each night during sunskrupt, Branco would take a water break. A massive water break. He would drink water, keep the bottle at his lips and look into the screen, pondering life, then take another long drink of water. It was so long we were laughing and watching him drink water each night 😂 It was such a thing. I was that dork who took photos of this moment hahaha.
After playground love was countdown (when Chris came out, he brought his own guitar instead of picking up the one that was on stage, already tuned I think). Going into countdown, he had to put a capo on the guitar and tune it a bit, which took a very short amount of time but it was still something he had to do, and he was like ah merde! It was really funny and cute to hear him swear on stage since it was dead quiet 😂
cute speciale things I tried their phoenix sake and took a polaroid in the telefono booth! It’s so cute. I also tried their childhood sandwiches on a “DAMN good baguette” (yeah they advertised it like this) and I gotta say, it sure was tasty. I didn’t get to try the gelato. Everything was so cute, they had ti amo balloons and a disco ball. They had a DJ too (I remember seeing Hedlund and Daniel Glass DJ-ing). The super mercato was so cool but I heard it kept breaking. Luckily I was able to get the pins and patches I wanted! (Though I didn’t notice they had a blue ti amo patch until it was too late!) The merch table also had a lot of cool merch and some old stuff from Bankrupt!. The entire vibe of the place was amazing. Every glass surface was graffitied with phoenix ti amo nyc 💘.
after the show
chris and branco (ft. the greatest conversation) The afterparty this night felt a bit more natural for us. Maybe because we knew what to expect, but overall it was just more comfortable. At the party, we saw only Chris wandering around. We spoke to him and got to tell him we were all friends online and he was really surprised (it was cute). He was v thankful for us cheering so much! He was so smiley aaah. Mads finally was able to give him the cutest phoenix doodle she made (literal cutest he found himself and kept pointing to it 😭). I also remember a bit where Vee was talking about Deck’s spider pose and Chris was asking how to do it and then he tried to do it 😂 Chris is the best hahaha
After the venue kicked us out/ the party ended, we went outside and found that Branco was already outside talking to other fans. I was being silly on this last night and was speaking (was I loud?) about how cute he was to my friends and saying dumb things like look at those eyebrows and those cheeks (everything abt him is so cute ok i love this koala) and he stared into my soul 3 times (while talking to another group of fans) 🙈 and I didn’t know what to do im sorry for staring at u B 😭 💀 (you’re so pretty god!!)
Ok once it was our turn to talk to B, we talked to him abt…..pokemon 😂 (I don’t want to say too much but supposedly he has pokemon go and I love pokemon so you can imagine why we went down this path). It was a perfect opportunity since Vee also likes pokemon and her backpack featured the eevee evolutions. He was like ahh pokemon…. We asked him to pick a favorite from the backpack and I think he was confused (it was dark) and he pointed to eevee and named it as pikachu. The way he said it was so cute oh my god. He was like that’s pikachu (he said it twice). We were telling him that’s eevee and then he was saying that he is very old from another time, the shakespearean time. I think Vee then said he’s immortal or a vampire and he didn’t deny it. (idk why) I had to bring up the old cringe photoshoot they did where he looks like a vampire and he was watching and listening to me so intently as I was describing it. Mads saved it and just said it was posted on their IG and he was like ahh. (He probably was like these girls are so weird). Then he said that he knew the pokemon names but in french and so he pointed to vaporeon and said that’s aquali. It was SO CUTE. WOW. I can still hear his voice saying aquali. Literally so precious.
Switching topics, Mads was asking if he saw the super cute doodle she did that she gave to Chris and I think he said he didn’t, but Chris said he showed him? (this part is a little fuzzy for me). Branco said that Chris never lies, called him over and then they were discussing if Chris had shown him/if Branco was present. Chris said that Branco probably forgot, then shortly after they started to speak in french to each other and we felt like shit was going down right in front of us omg (brothers fighting?!). At the end of it Branco opened his mouth without saying anything, then closed it, speechless (or, I thought of a cat showing its teeth lol) it was insane.
Aaaaaa if you made it here thanks for reading 💗 It was such a cool time seeing phoenix with the feenix gang from online! I hope we all get to do it again in the future ✨ You all made this experience so memorable.

Hotels ask gov't to allow 'regulated' MICE, socials under GCQ
#PHnews: Hotels ask gov't to allow 'regulated' MICE, socials under GCQ
MANILA - Hotels are asking the government to allow regulated meetings and some social events under general community quarantine (GCQ) to help the industry survive amid the pandemic.
The concern was raised by the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association (HSMA) during a recent virtual meet with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Congress of the Philippines (TCP).
"Those present in the meeting discussed the hotel's position to be allowed to accept MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions)+socials under GCQ (general community quarantine). This position will greatly assist hotels financially to keep afloat during these challenging times during the pandemic," it said in a statement on Saturday.
The HSMA said the concerned hotels vowed to comply with any proposed measures to ensure a safe experience for all stakeholders.
During said meeting, the hotels also touted their respective stringent health and safety protocols; and meetings and events program designed to adapt to the current health crisis.
"[The program] provides elevated cleanliness and sanitation across entire attendee experience. Ultimately, the goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment for meeting organizers, event planners, and their attendees," it said.
As of Dec. 2020, venues inside hotels in areas under GCQ and not being used as quarantine facilities may accept bookings for workshops, training, seminars, congresses, conferences, conventions, board meetings, colloquia, conclaves, symposia, and consumer trade shows.
Venue capacity is capped at 30 percent.
However, social events like political gatherings, cultural festivities, sporting activities, product launches, birthdays, weddings, Christmas and office parties, pageants, and gala receptions show are still prohibited. (PNA)

Basics
what is your best friend's full name? I’m not saying that on here since she has a very lengthy name and enumerating it here would make her too specific of a subject, but she goes by Angela.
where was he/she born? I have no idea but I’m taking a wild guess and say she was born in the city she currently lives in. Idk, she’s lived there all her life and it makes a lot of sense to think she was also born there.
where does he/she currently live? She lives in a city very near mine, but it’s already a part of Metro Manila so she technically resides in a different region.
who does he/she live with? She lives with her parents, a couple of kasambahay or house help, and her grandfather. Unfortunately her grandma, who I used to see, greet, and spend time with whenever I came over her place, just passed last Sunday.
how many pets do they have? She has two dogs, Hailey and Kennedy; but the family also has an aquarium with like 20-30 fish. Hailey is the only one allowed to walk around the house because Kennedy bites and barks. OH I just remembered they also have a lab but I don’t really get to see it a lot, and I dunno the name either.
what are the names of all of their pets? ^ Already touched on that.
how many vehicles does their family own? They have one family car. She was supposed to get her own so she can start driving herself to school, but I forgot why the plans for that fell through.
when is his/her birthday? September 15.
what colour are his/her eyes? Dark brown.
what colour is his/her hair? Black is the natural color, but she’s recently dyed it a very light brown, almost blonde shade.
how tall is your best friend? She’s a bit taller than me, probably around 5′3″ or 5′4″.
how old is he/she? 21.
how many bedrooms is in their house? Her family continues to live in the house her mom (who had a number of siblings) grew up in so they have a number of bedrooms even though her immediate family is just three people. I can remember seeing four bedrooms, but there could definitely be more.
About Your Relationship
how well do you think you know your best friend, from 0 to 10?  I’d say 8.5. She’s my best friend and I know the deeper stuff about her like her quirks, tendencies, how she’d react to something, etc. but I barely know her favorites.
what's the best moment you've had with him/her? Like I said, she’s my best friend. Honestly every time with her is a blast, and that rings much louder now that I only get to see her once every few months. The most recent most fun I’ve had with her was when we went clubbing at BGC last month til 2 AM. We’ve never really partied together before so that was a great time.
when did you meet? It was the first or second day of the first grade and since our surnames came in alphabetical order we were seated beside each other.
how long have you known him/her? 15 years in 2020.
how long have you been best friends with him/her? We’ve been best friends the same amount of time. It didn’t take long for us to get close.
how much time do you spend with him/her weekly? We don’t see each other weekly anymore as college has made us extremely busy. We do talk on Messenger a lot and I’m really thankful we have a low-maintenance friendship that doesn’t bank on having to physically be with each other all the time.
do you have a song that reminds you of your best friend? Anything by The Maine as they’re her favorite band.
do you keep secrets from each other? I don’t remember ever keeping anything from her. She knows about my secrets *a bit* *JUST A BIT* more than Gab does. If anything the only thing she doesn’t know about me is this blog.
can you be completely honest with him/her? Yes, always. She doesn’t judge and she has never flipped out on me and she’s the first one to reassure when she can tell I’m getting angsty/antsy.
Their Life
what was your best friend's happiest moment? Ooh ya got me. Probably when she and Hans got together, or maybe something related to her parents as she’s incredibly close with them.
what was your best friend's saddest moment? I can’t give you the absolute lowest point she’s had but I know she’s struggling rn with the death of her grandmother. She was also very close with her.
what job does he/she have? She doesn’t have a job for now but she’s studying to be an architect.
is your best friend married, or does he/she want to be? She’s not married but she wants to be, someday.
Does your best friend have children, or does he/she want them? No kids, but she also wants them. I wanna have nieces/nephews by her, too :(
what vehicle does your best friend have? She doesn’t have a car. Her dad drives her to and from school daily which is understandable because she lives incredibly close to UP and it’s no hassle for her dad to drive her.
what is their house like? It’s kinda like an ancestral house in that it’s been owned by several generations before her, so you can definitely see the features of vintage Filipino houses from the stairs and the windows, which they’ve remained unchanged. It’s also pretty spacious because it used to house a lot of people, which makes it a great venue for when they host parties.
Dreams
what does he/she most want to do for a job? She’s studying architecture but recently she’s come to really dislike her course, and she’s confided in me that this was no longer what she wanted to do. I figured it would still be a freshly sensitive topic to ask her what she wants to be now, so I haven’t found that out from her just yet.
where would he/she most like to visit in the world? I think Europe would be a safe guess.
what is their dream car? She had a phase where she was crazy about the Ford Ecosport cos it’s the perfect car for college students like us - not too flashy but not too tiny or lowkey either. I’m not sure if her thoughts have since changed, but yeah that’s the last thing I remember hearing from her.
what do they most want in the world? Happiness and her parents’ happiness.
if you could give your best friend anything in the world, what would it be? Right now, a giant hug.
Their Interests, Hobbies, Likes and Dislikes
what is their favourite food? I honestly have no idea. We rarely get to go on food dates. I don’t know what exactly her favorite food is, but I can say her favorite cuisine is Japanese.
what is his/her favourite colour? OMG I also don’t know. I told you I can’t tell her favorites!!!!!!!!!! :(((( WAH I’m gonna take a guess and say white? I feel bad now :((
what is his/her favourite animal? Ok this one I know - dogs.
what is his/her celebrity crush? I dunno either dude, it’s probably still one of the guys from The Maine. I know she also had a crush on Jamie Campbell Bower and Xavier Samuel at one point.
what is their favourite way to spend a day? Seeing Hans and trying out new and adventurous things with him. One of the last times I saw her she was talking about going to see Hinulugang Taktak with Hans on her BREAK which is pretty insane, considering where we go to school and where Hinulugang Taktak is.
name a few things your best friends dislikes. President Duterte, conflict, her course, stupid people.
what is/was their favourite school subject? Math and all types of it.
what is his/her favourite TV programme? Right now she’s watching Money Heist and Elite. We also share a common love for Friends and she’s the reason I got into it in the first place.
what is his/her favourite movie? I don’t know. :(
what is his/her favourite music? She used to like alternative rock/pop punk/pop rock (All Time Low, The Maine, You Me at Six, The Summer Set, We Are the In Crowd, The Cab, etc) like most teens during those days but now she’s taken a liking to pop, R&B, some indie.
name one of your best friend's favourite musical artists. THE MAINE
name one of your best friend's favourite songs. Maybe the Night by Ben&Ben.

Maine Mendoza and the Generous Fans Going Extra Mile (#Blog Entry 4 of 7)
#EnchantressMaine23 or 3.14 made me a fortunate fan as I finally see Maine personally for the first time. In this blog entry, I would love to dedicate this to the Maine fans who also made feel blessed because of their generosity. For me, they went extra mile just to help another fan as if they treated them as friends or family members.
For Mam Nancy…Since Maine launched her book “Yup, I Am That Girl”, I had a hard time looking for her book in bookstores nearby or even in Metro Manila. I kinda feel whenever I am searching for any item in malls or other establishments, it is out of stock. I want to have Maine’s book because it was her writer side that made me her fan after I read an entry in her blog. Frustration built up on as months passed by since the launching and I still don’t have the book. I resorted to asking in Twitter if they know other bookstores who currently have stocks of Maine’s autobiography. In a day, fans gave me exact branches of different bookstores across Metro Manila, Rizal, and even in Laguna and Bulacan. Majority of their responses is the convenient store located in Broadway Centrum. Another fan of Maine replied she has extra copies and she is willing to give me one. First, a free Microsoft RT surface tablet with detachable keyboard was given to me as a gift by a fan of Maine. Now this, her book for free. I was so touched with the gesture. I sent Mam Nancy a DM that I want to meet her too to see her personally. She agreed. She’s working in Makati and suggested we can have a lunch in a nearby mall. I set the date to March 14. I met her and we lunched out. Mam Nancy, from how I felt she is, is an established woman in her career. The way she talks and her body language too makes it feel she is a supportive and open mom to her child. We talked a lot about Maine in that lunch. We were laughing with the random funny antics of Maine that we remembered. Like me, Maine is the first Pinoy celebrity Mam Nancy fangirled. Before Maine, I’m more inclined to fangirling over athletes, cosplayers, journalists, and writers. For Mam Nancy, her interest is more on books. She even tells me she and her daughter shares the Harry Potter series they have at home. Maine suddenly became the first Pinoy mainstream celebrity we fangirled over. She handed a paper bag to me. I brought out the book and to my surprise, she added a Preview Magazine issue of Maine. I thanked her again for her kindness. I felt my eyes sparkled as I finally have the copy of Maine’s book and a bonus of her magazine. I really like talking to Mam Nancy as if I am one of her favorite nieces. Hahaha! I would love to see her again given the chance.
For the organizers and committee members in #EnchantressMaine23...You have taken care of all the details of the event such as (a) booking the venue, (b) contacting caterers, videographers, photographers, band, technical team, etc., (c) replying to inquiries of the attendees, (d) providing security, (e) arranging schedule from Maine’s hectic commitments through her management, (f) brainstorming for the theme, and (g) checking all the elements in an event such as food, stage, and aesthetics, etc. It is out of your pure love and support for Maine that you are motivated to do these efforts. I know some challenges you have gone through as you are preparing for this event. Let me say it straight out now for those who have questioned your intentions, this is a legit party and not a scam and no guy other people are linking to Maine is invited in this event. I feel so bad and hurt when I read those online because they do not have a single idea as to all the hardwork and effort you poured out in this event. I am proud of everything you have done from start to finish. Even during the party, you are hands-on to whenever someone asks or needs your help. You are a bit anxious as you want to make sure everything will push through according to plans. I remembered all of you have only eaten after almost everyone left to head home. I feel like that’s almost past 10pm. You gave your all for #EnchantressMaine23. Thank you also for allowing fan
All your efforts paid off because for me, Maine truly enjoyed that birthday party thrown for her. She is a princess in that celebration. The only thing I can do to show my gratitude is to write it all down here in my blog entry. Thank you so much again!
For the sponsors…First of all, thank you again to the committee member and fan who sponsored me for that event. If it wasn’t for you, I will never be able to attend that event. After I posted the fervent wish of Singing Angels Quartet, she replied they will contact them. Few minutes after, she sent me a DM and said if I want to come too. As I was still hesitating with the entrance and how I’ll commute late at night, she said she will sponsor me. For commuting after the event, she said she can ask someone who will let me hitchhike until Ortigas. I thanked her for understanding me. That moment I asked permission too if I can do something in the program. She immediately agreed. If you are reading this, thank you again and again for everything in 3.14. I owe it to you. Second, thank you for the sponsors who reached out to the Singing Angels Quartet. Out of the generosity of your heart, you helped them fulfilled their wish to see Maine. Lastly, Oreo and Jester, thanked sponsors at the end of the program but they are all anonymous. Thank you to all of you who extended support for the #EnchantressMaine23, whoever you are.
For the Maine fan group who let me hitchhike…Thank you for letting me hitchhike in your car. I was so lucky that your destination is within an area I am very much familiar and nearer to our home. I enjoyed your company as you share your fangirl moments too with Maine. You were all laughing out loud too as how you formed your fan group. It is touching to see a friendship solidified out of fangirling for Maine.
May God be the One to give back all the generosity and goodness you have done. Thank you again!
