This is an assumption. But why do you think JK bought his property in Itaewon out of all places ? And now building a mansion there which means that will be his main house he decides to settle. I've seen all korean stars buying their homes to love with their family in more decent and high end areas like Gagnam, Hannam etc. No one really buys property in itaewon with an aim to settle there with family as it's like the party spot of SK. Itaewon is known for clubs, brothels, parties, drugs and prostitution, most only go there to party, have one night stands or do illegal activities. Someone visiting Itaewon often is eye brow raising enough so building a whole mansion there is sus af isn't it ?

We’ve seen and been outraged by sasaengs and their stalking of members and called them out at times. We’ve literally seen Jungkook on live entering his apartment and being annoyed with sasaengs loitering outside of his building, he has even said in that same live that he knows people knows where he lives and posted online.

Put yourselves in their shoes, who wants millions knowing your full address and being able to turn up unannounced? Because they’re fans of your music, of your image? I’m gonna leave that there.

I will say in regards to Itaewon, I’m not Korean, I don’t have a Korean father, a Korean brother, a Korean bff who works at Hybe, nothing. I do have a friend who went on a program, studied there and lived there for years but that’s it. I don’t know anything about Itaewon apart from the Halloween tragedy and a K-Drama. So guess what I did, yup you guessed it, I GOGGLED💪

Actor Song Joong-Ki and his British wife, who was pregnant at the time, moved to his Itaewon mansion along with her family from the UK. They welcomed a baby girl in 2023.

Chaebols like those belonging to the Samsung family also have homes in Itaewon

Doing my googles, Itaewon is known as ‘a multi-cultural commercial area located in Seoul, South Korea. It is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Seoul, known for its nightlife and trendy restaurants.’ ‘Seoul's International District’.

I know some other places that sound like the above.. London…New York…Paris…

I wonder where the prostitution, drugs and one night stands come into it for people who wanna buy or build houses in those cities?

Jungkook is currently a 26 year old multimillionaire, who is a member of one of the biggest groups in not just South Korea, but the world, so I guess he’ll have lots to do when he’s not working his ass off with his intense more than full time job. Settling somewhere with family…I’m sure he’ll take Bam into consideration in his plans, wherever it may be.

Sounds like Itaewon is a cool, diverse, inclusive place, full of sites & attractions, shops and good food. If a 26+ year old man that’s been working and in the public eye since 13/14 wanted to build a home there, Itaewon sounds like a great place and a good investment.

I’d love to visit there, if I ever had the time AND money 🥲

Tag 40. 12.08.2023

Nokdujeon, Gimbap und Fishcakes. Heute war ein ereignisvoller Tag angesagt. Nachdem wir Brot beim Bäcker holten und einen Kaffee tranken schlenderten wir durch die Einkaufsstraßen in Myeongdong. Wir gingen in die Nike-Läden und liefen ins Apple Store, wo wir uns den Angestellten austauschten. Daraufhin ging’s zum Deoksugang Palast, wo wir die verschiedenen kaiserlichen Häuser beäugten und die gepflegten Gärten bewunderten. Draußen warteten wir vergeblich auf den Wechsel der Garde, anscheinend fand die tägliche Zeremonie heute später statt.

Anschließend liefen wir entlang der Sejong-daero-Straße Richtung Gyeongbokgung Palast. Auf dem Weg fanden im niesenden Regen etliche Demonstrationen statt, irgendwie alle mit dem Koreakrieg oder Japan verbunden. Auch hielten wir an einem Denkmal des 2022 Itaewon Disasters, wo 153 Menschen bei einer Panikmache in einem engen Seouler Gässchen ihr Leben verloren. Frustrierend.

Daraufhin entdeckten wir das Bukchon Hanok Viertel, wo niedliche Gaststätten und Tante Emma Läden sich auf einem Hang abwechselten. Hier aßen wir in einem Imbiss Frittiertes, scharfe Reisrollen und Fishcake-Spieße. Wir schlenderten dann entlang der Seosulla-Gil (neben des Jongmyo-Schreins), wo sich Studenten in etlichen Cafés auffanden und an einem regnerischen Samstag trafen, Richtung Gwangjang Markt angesagt. Hier probierten wir Gimbap (koreanisches Sushi), Nokdujeon (bohnenbasierte Pfannkuchen) und koreanisches Tartar aus. Köstlich. Der Markt war vollgepackt, v.a. mit Scouts (Pfadfinder) verschiedener Länder, die sich auf einem internationalen Scout-Gipfel in Seoul befanden. Irgendwas lief vorherige Woche mit der Organisation schief, viele Scouts sind also schon wieder nach Hause geflogen, viele sind noch da, alles sehr merkwürdig. Der Gwangjang Markt war trotzdem bereichernd und Schauspiel einer unerwartet leckeren Mahlzeit.

Wir liefen schließlich neben dem tiefgelegten Flusspfad Richtung Hotel. In Myeongdong schauten wir allerdings noch in ein paar Geschäfte rein bevor wir im 7-11 Snacks und Frühstück holten. Morgen gehts nach Bundang und auf den Han-Fluss! Bis dann!

Day 40. August 12, 2023

Nokdujeon, Gimbap, and Fishcakes. Today was expected to be an eventful day. After getting bread from the bakery and having a coffee, we strolled through the shopping streets in Myeongdong. We went into the Nike stores and walked into the Apple Store, where we interacted with the employees. After that, we headed to Deoksugung Palace, where we observed the different imperial houses and admired the well-maintained gardens. Outside, we waited in vain for the changing of the guard; apparently, the daily ceremony was scheduled for later today.

Subsequently, we walked along Sejong-daero Street towards Gyeongbokgung Palace. Along the way, numerous demonstrations took place in the drizzling rain, all somehow connected to the Korean War or Japan. We also stopped at a memorial for the 2022 Itaewon Disaster, where 153 people lost their lives during a panic in a narrow Seoul alley. Frustrating.

Then, we discovered the Bukchon Hanok Village, where charming eateries and small convenience stores alternated on a slope. Here, at a snack stand, we had fried food, spicy rice rolls, and fishcake skewers. We then strolled along Seosulla-Gil (next to Jongmyo Shrine), where students gathered in various cafes on a rainy Saturday, heading towards Gwangjang Market. Here, we tried Gimbap (Korean sushi), Nokdujeon (bean-based pancakes), and Korean tartar. Delicious. The market was packed, especially with scouts from different countries who were attending an international scout jamboree in Seoul. Something went wrong with the organization last week, so many scouts have already flown back home, and many are still there – quite strange. Nevertheless, Gwangjang Market was enriching and a stage for an unexpectedly delicious meal.

Finally, we walked along the low-lying river path towards the hotel. In Myeongdong, we stopped by a few shops before getting snacks and breakfast at 7-11. Tomorrow, we're off to Bundang and the Han River! Until then!

Mức giá Bi Rain - Kim Tae Hee rao bán tòa nhà này được cho là không hợp lý

Cho đến giờ, tầng 1 và tầng 2 của tòa nhà vẫn trống, chưa có khách thuê. Theo Allkpop, Bi Rain - Kim Tae Hee phải trả chi phí khoản vay mua tòa nhà lên đến 200 triệu won (khoảng 3,5 tỷ đồng) mỗi tháng. Hiện tại, vợ chồng 2 ngôi sao đình đám vẫn chưa lên tiếng về thông tin trên.

Vào ngày 30/5, netizen Hàn xôn xao trước thông tin tòa nhà thương mại của Bi Rain và Kim Tae Hee hiện vẫn đang bỏ trống, không có người mua. Được biết, cặp đôi mua tòa nhà vào tháng 6/2021 với giá 92 tỷ won (khoảng hơn 1.600 tỷ đồng). 1 năm sau, họ rao bán tòa nhà với mức giá 140 tỷ won (gần 2.500 tỷ đồng).

Jae Eon’s Self Sabotage

Chekov’s Gun is the dramatic principle that details within a story will contribute to the overall narrative. You might have heard of this before in its simplest form: if there is a gun shown in Act 1, it absolutely must go off in Act 2 or 3. In episode 9 of Nevertheless, we have this scene right at the beginning:

Yes, that scene. Park Jae Eon sees Yang Do Hyeok standing off to the side as he waits outside Na Bi’s apartment to retrieve his stuff. Na Bi doesn’t know Do Hyeok is nearby. Jae Eon makes the calculation in his head and manipulates his way inside Na Bi’s apartment, knowing exactly what it looks like to Do Hyeok. It’s petty revenge for seeing Na Bi and Do Hyeok together on campus from earlier.

This is the gun. And it backfires on Jae Eon big time. Throughout the entire episode, his acts of sincerity towards Na Bi seem genuine and heartfelt, yet his action in that one scene undermines anything he attempts. It doesn’t work; to his mounting frustration, Na Bi and Do Hyeok continue to talk and meet as if nothing happened.

(We know that’s not the case as seen from Do Hyeok’s alone time but I’ll talk about that later in this post.)

It’s a ticking time bomb and it goes off at last in the rain scene. Nothing is working for him. He is desperate not to lose Na Bi. And he goes off in a drunken rage on Na Bi after she returns home on that fateful rainy night.

And he loses her. The gun goes off. Everything sincere he did turns rotten in Na Bi’s eyes after he reveals his actions. Actions have consequences, always rippling forward and affecting change in moments not yet experienced. He ruined his chances because of his petty cruelty towards Do Hyeok in the beginning. His sincerity only extended towards Na Bi and it was only to get her attention once more.

Jae Eon lost. Not so much to Do Hyeok, as he lost to Na Bi, who cares about him deeply. He underestimated her feelings towards Do Hyeok, assuming, like so many other viewers, that he was an an irritating distraction that refused to go away.

He can’t fathom why Do Hyeok still seems to like Na Bi after seeing them enter her apartment together. Is he really that incredible a person? What makes him so special?

Well, let’s talk about it.

Do Hyeok’s Crisis Playbook

We see from Do Hyeok’s time alone after his initial visit to Seoul that he is taking it pretty hard; I can’t really blame him, considering what he saw that night. His struggle is open, honest, and raw; like Na Bi, it affects him to the point that he can’t focus on his work (anyone seem to notice that Jae Eon’s work never seems to be affected by his feelings?).

It’s jealousy and insecurity eating away at him. Just like Jae Eon. He’s also desperate not to lose Na Bi but doesn’t want to do anything untoward or overboard because he’s afraid of ruining their friendship. Once again, his consideration is for Na Bi and how she feels, but he cannot ignore what he saw and how he feels about it.

So, what is our favorite Potato Boy to do? Park Jae Eon already made his move by staging that whole scene of him and Na Bi going into her apartment together. How does Do Hyeok fight back? What’s his playbook in this time of crisis?

He doesn’t fight back. And that’s how he stays in the game. Do Hyeok is not a player like Jae Eon; there isn’t a manipulative or deceptive bone in his body. Do Hyeok does what he always does and doubles down on his sincerity, on the strength of his feelings, and his faith in Na Bi.

Do Hyeok doesn’t play the game Jae Eon tries to involve him in. He always lays it all out on the table with Na Bi so there is no room for misunderstandings. That’s one of the reasons why their relationship works so well; they talk more. Not just about feelings or romance but about school or their day to day life. What they’re building now is something that can last a lifetime.

So he talks to her about it. And admits his jealousy. She wasn’t even aware that he had seen them and yet it sounds like he’s the one who is apologizing (even though he never let his hurt feelings show in his conversations with Na Bi, DO HYEOK YOU ARE TOO GOOD). He lays himself bare to her once more. We don’t see Na Bi’s response other than her shocked and guilty expression, which is annoying because it would definitely be interesting to see how she reciprocated his frankness.

(Underrated super cute scene between them in this episode; when they meet up at night and bring drinks for each other. It’s even the exact same drink. I was grinning like a maniac.)

But Na Bi is familiar with Jae Eon’s game. And when she finds out how badly Do Hyeok was hurt by Jae Eon’s actions (and how he involved her in it) Na Bi finally is snapped to her senses and severs the thread still binding her and Jae Eon together.

Na Bi’s choice isn’t shown as a redemptive or heroic moment. It never was supposed to be. Although I’m sure a lot of us were cheering in that moment, her moments of unrestrained grief alone afterwards are the sobering reality that love, as always, comes with a price.

Nabi’s Choice (The Review)

This is a follow up to my earlier post before episode 9 came out. So, now we see what Na Bi decides and, maybe, how it will all play out in the next episode (barring any last minute twists).

First, let’s address the still ongoing criticism I see regarding Na Bi and Do Hyeok’s relationship: lack of passion, no romantic vibes, blah blah blah. I wrote at length in a previous post why that isn’t true - at least on Do Hyeok’s part (one of the reasons why we don’t get internal monologue from Do Hyeok is because what else is he thinking about other than Na Bi?).

Na Bi, on the other hand, is still ambivalent about her feelings towards Do Hyeok. Episode 9 provided more clarity for her stance towards Jae Eon - he’s the dog shit she stepped on and was promptly wiped away in the grass - but Do Hyeok is still a mystery. Yes, she’s friendly, she cares, and genuinely enjoys being with him but the spice, the passion is missing. And that is kinda important for a romantic relationship.

Well. Look no more. Na Bi has spice for Do a Hyeok and it shows not once, but twice this episode. Where’s the passion? Jae Eon fucked around and found out. Very kind of him. Turns out Na Bi, like all of us who like Do Hyeok, will not tolerate any Do Hyeok slander and I am 100 PERCENT here for it.

There’s a scene shortly before the climatic rain fight where Na Bi is having another meeting with her assistants: the junior (does he have a name? Jin-su?) and Jae Eon. The junior talks to Na Bi about her and Park Jae Eon: the usual tired gossip of whether or not they’re dating. Na Bi waves it away like dandelion fluff.

And then the junior mentions Do Hyeok. “What about the noodle shop guy? Ever since the camp meeting, people have been saying there’s a higher chance you’re dating him.”

And Na Bi just . . . we’ve never seen this from her before, even when she broke up with Jae Eon in episode 5. Her whole demeanor turns ice cold and her voice is wicked sharp as she proceeds to shut down that avenue of questioning. The junior physically leans back from the force of her anger and wonders aloud why she’s so upset (you’re talking about her love life as gossip, idiot, why do you think she’s so upset). Jae Eon walks in and doesn’t see the foreshadowing; he just hears Do Hyeok and it feeds his jealousy.

There it is, everybody. Evidence of Na Bi’s feelings for Do Hyeok and what he means to her. Her protectiveness over him and her refusal to let him be involved in the drama surrounding herself and Jae Eon. Her desire to be the better around him; not because he asks (and he would never) but because his feelings for her make her think she might be worthy of such a love.

And then there’s the rain scene. Na Bi and Jae Eon, vulnerable in the rain. Na Bi admits to her faults in the relationship, how she brought this upon herself. No, she hasn’t been nice or good this whole time; in fact, she’s been kind of terrible. But Jae Eon revealing what he did and how it was to hurt Do Hyeok wakes her up and convinces that the time has come to end this “game”. It got Do Hyeok hurt because of her inability to end it with Jae Eon and good people don’t let that happen to people they care about.

So Na Bi ends it with Jae Eon and chooses herself. At last. And to do so, she has to cut out this malignant tumor of a relationship and, God, does it hurt so much to end it, but she gets it done and takes the first step to being a better person for herself.

The cinematography in this drama is top tier and we see her situation presented so viscerally. She’s alone, in the light, but it’s not a warm, redemptive light; it has a sickly, yellow tint and is surrounded by darkness.

But she’s still there. She still made it.

One Last Observation, I Promise

Last thing I noticed from this episode that I want to talk about: the professor’s critique of Na Bi. She specifically mentions that a good artist can inspire others and Na Bi, whether she realizes it or not, actually does do that.

Na Bi helps Do Hyeok with his videos, giving advice that helps boost their popularity and making them better.

Jae Eon is inspired to make the butterfly bracelet for Na Bi and gifts it to her.

The difference between the two? Do Hyeok actually thanks Na Bi for her help and points out that it was her influence that made his videos better.

Jae Eon obviously means his gesture to be romantic and sincere but he again fails to talk about why he’s doing it. The implication is there but Na Bi needs more than some vague nonsense.

Communication is at the heart of this episode and how, without it, relationships stagnate and fail. Bit Na + Gyu Hyun and Soljiwan couple - their relationships only progress because the couples voice their concerns and fears to one another. And instead of being rejected or being hurt, it allows their partners to reassure them and move forward with their relationship.

Why do Na Bi and Jae Eon fail? They. Don’t. Talk. Na Bi is stuck inside her head and Jae Eon relies on vague gestures and sexual chemistry to express himself.

Why do Na Bi and Do Hyeok succeed? Because they talk. About everything. Their dialogue is clear and honest and sincere without any hidden meanings or motives. And you see why Na Bi is rapidly moving more and more towards Do Hyeok and not Jae Eon.

(The preview does raise some questions about how it will all end but I don’t think the show is going to pull a bait and switch and have Na Bi end up with Jae Eon. I also don’t think it’s likely they’ll have an open ending, either. I’ll talk about that in another post.)

My next post will be what I envision to be the best version of a Na Bi and Do Hyeok endgame and what I mean by that since Na Bi shouldn’t be dating anyone right now. So, look forward to that.

I beg to differ, maybe for the late 2010′s and performing at award shows but not for kpop as a whole. However, this is always going to be a topic that always going to be two sided. And I full on respect your opinion, because I can see where its coming from.

I’ve always felt like kpop was just a sub genre like a lot of other music, while its not mainstream and US artist will always have the upperhand in their home country kpop has a large enough following in the US, its just like that time were J-rock and J-pop was huge… btw does anyone remember Puffy AmiYumi?

I think the reason as to why it really looks like they were the ones who paved the way for kpop is because of the social media and fandom culture we have now, from 2005-2014 social media culture wasn’t like what it is today, I’m not even talking about fan interaction either, because I feel like there was way more fan interaction on twitter from the B.A.P members.

Lets see the timeline of kpop/korean artist making headlines in America

2005

Rain made headlines for being the first ever Korean artist to perform outside of Asia. He was also the first Korean artist to perform in the US, and let alone do a 2 hour concert. It’s one of the biggest Korean concert that was held in NYC. It even featured Pi Diddy, Omarion, and JoJo Levesque. This was the initial foot print that the hallyu wave had outside of Asia

2006

Rain made headlines for because Time magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, to that Stephen Colbert invited him on his show and they did a parody of Way to Avoid the sun.

The year that MTV made a special channel on American TV soley for kpop called MTVk

2007

Rain also again gained more american attention for being listed in People’s most beautiful people in the world

2008

Bi Rain and Joon Park both were in Speed Racer, that was a big achievement for Korean Singers… just simply being able to graze the big screen. Rain more so than Joon got a good amount of attention, he even got some American interviews

2009

Rain and Lee Joon were in Ninja Assassin. Rain made major headlines for again not only being in an American movie but this time actually staring in the movie and about how much training he did just for the movie.

This was also the same year Korean actor Lee Byun hyun had his US debut

GD at the time also got some attention after the alleged plagiarism between Heartbreaker and Right Round when Flo Rida performed with him

Wonder Girls made their American debut

Wonder Girls were the opening act for the Jonas Brothers making the Jonas brothers one of the first American artist to work with a kpop group

I would go more into detail by just tweeting about kpop but thats too much work to look for, kpop is a fad and it comes and goes. I kind of like what Hyukoh said about the whole Hallyu Wave/BTS thing they said “I think it’s really interesting and it’s fun to watch. Because of it, I think in some aspects were are benefitting from it, that’s really great. But nothing is forever, there will be some point when K-pop won’t be as popular. But because we’re not K-pop, I hope we stay popular even when K-pop is not.“

BTS did not start the hallyu wave, nor did they pave they way. They were just the first to walk on that new path which then inspired more to do the same and they were the first to win fandom based awards.

No matter what this will always be a topic is where some OG and new kpop fans clash, so yes, BTS is helping the Hallyu wave but they didn’t create the fad. I think the real Hallyu wave starter is Rain

3 Vietnamese-origin idols are active in Korea

Hello friends! We are Creatrip , a community of Korean experts. We will always try to send you the latest useful tips and information in Korea every day.

Referring to Korea, most of the young people will think of Kpop. Indeed, Korea has created many famous idols such as DBSK, Super Junior, SNSD, BTS, EXO, Blackpink, TWICE ... Currently a lot of Vietnamese companies have sent their artists to Korea for training and especially if you Notice, you will see that there are some Vietnamese artists who are pursuing idol careers in Korea too! Let's find out who they are through this article.

2. Queen - Z-girls group

Her real name Luc Thi Thuy Quyen of the management company Zenith Media Content (ZMC) is also another idol from Vietnam.

She debuted in the Z-Girls group in February 2019 with the single "WHAT YOU WAITING FOR. The Z-girls group consists of 7 representatives from 7 Asian countries. She was born in 97 and plays the role of rapper in the group and is praised for possessing features similar to Joy of Red Velvet.

As Queen shared, the biggest difficulty encountered when coming to Korea to train was the language barrier and the integration with members from different cultures. However, she has also made a lot of effort to practice with strict regime to be able to debut soon. Queen had a performance at Z-Pop Dream Live in Seoul at Jamsil Stadium with the participation of many famous stars such as Bi Rain, Chungha, A Pink ...

Currently Queen also has a number of activities in Vietnam, guys! Let's support this rapper!

3. Roy - Z-boys group

Roy's real name is Hoang Bao, the main vocalist from Vietnam in the Z-boys group. Z-boys is a sister group with Z-girls and managed by Zenith Media Content (ZMC), composed of members from many Asian countries including Vietnam.

Roy has been praised like Yunhyeong of IKON and this guy also appeared in the popular school drama called The Girl from the Other Side.

In order to debut with Z-boys, Roy had to train with intense intensity from 9am to 3pm to bring the most impressive performances. The group had performed on the Z-Pop Dream Live in Seoul stage and received quite positive feedback.

Besides activities in Korea, Z-Boys and Z-Girls also pay much attention to markets outside of Korea, especially Asia. Let's wait for the progress of Queen and Roy in the future!

Prompt: When Dean catches you crying to a song

Genre: Fluff

Word Count: 1,401

It was a cool grey day. It was on the verge of spring but there were still a few weeks of cooler weather in Seoul until it was supposed to thaw. You were working from home this week as there were deadlines quickly creeping up on you and you didn’t want the distractions of the office. Plus, you always thought you worked better from home where you could be in your comfy clothes and make gallons of tea. More importantly and another bonus to you decision, your boyfriend, Dean, had also decided to work from home that week. Periodically, you would glance over at the open door to his office and smile at the computer screen glow. Just knowing he was there was comforting. Your desk was set up in the corner of the living room so you could look out the window at the clouds that scurried across the sky in various shades of grey. It was close to dinner time so you stretched and removed your large over-the-ear headphones that had been blasting music for the past hours. The world was suddenly filled with the sound of rain hitting the window panes and the soft rustle of leaves on the trees outside. You rolled your neck tiredly and approached Dean’s office.

All the lights were off except his desk lamp and the large monitors on his desk. You leaned in the doorway for a moment just admiring his form as he worked. He moved the mouse rapidly around the screen making edits and tweaking small things. Headphones were securely over his ears, but even so you could hear small, soft seconds of melody flowing through them. You smiled softly at him as he continued to concentrate, you could almost imagine the machinery in his brain turning at full capacity.

You slowly approached and gently wrapped your arms around his shoulders. You felt him jump as you touched him, but he quickly relaxed as he realized it was you.

“Hi,” you murmured.

He reached up to take off his headphones and placed his hand on you forearms where they overlapped in front of his neck. “Hi,” he whispered back. “How is work going?” he questioned.

“Still working,” you admitted. “You?”

“It’s getting there,” he said and you could hear the smile in his voice. “You can listen to it when it’s finished,” he promised.

“I can’t wait,” you said. “Are you hungry? It’s about dinner time.”

There was a pause as Dean considered your offer. “I could eat,” he said with a chuckle.

You smiled and pecked him on the cheek. “Okay. I’ll go make something.” You began to unwind you arms and before you could pull away fully, Dean caught your hand as he turned around in his office chair. He pulled you close so you were standing between his legs and he had his head resting on your chest as he wrapped his arms around your waist. You smiled even wider as one of your hands went to rest on his shoulder and the other ran idly through his hair. He sighed and nuzzled closer to you. He looked up at you with a small glint in his eye as he smiled widely at you. Your heart did a small backflip and sped up ever so slightly. He never ceased to make your heart beat faster or your breath to catch in your throat.

You took his face between your hands and bent down to press your lips to his. You felt him sigh against your lips and his eyes were hooded as you pulled away. “I’m going to go make dinner, so save your work, okay?” you murmured close to his lips.

He only nodded and watched you as you left his office.

After dinner you were idly washing dishes as Dean wiped the table. The radio was on in the background playing the recent hits softly. Although you weren’t super interested in the fast-moving industry other than what your boyfriend and his friends were doing, you had your groups that you kept up with. Ikon had just come out with their repackaged album and you had few complaints about their new title song, I’m Ok. You bobbed to the beat as you finished the dishes. You froze as Donghyuk’s voice came over the speaker and sang his line after BI’s rap part.

I trembled because of the love that passed me by

You didn’t know why but the lyric combined with the innated sadness in Donghyuk’s voice made tears spring to your eyes almost immediately. Without even realizing it, they had begun to spill down your face. You quickly dried your hands to wipe them away, but they hadn’t gone unnoticed by Dean.

He was immediately at your side gently turning your face towards him. His eyes filled with concern and you felt bad making his worry. You quickly scrubbed your fist across your face, wiping away the tears. You felt silly.

“What’s wrong?” Dean breathed at you as he took your elbows in his hands and slowly bought you closer to him. You were close enough that you could feel the heat radiating off of him.

You smiled up at him as you twisted so you could lay your head on his chest. His arms immediately circled you and you felt his warmth envelop you. “Do you ever hear one of those voices singing certain lyrics that just make you cry?” you murmured. His scent filled your nose and you could hear the steady thud of his heart in his chest against your ear.

He nodded and tightened his grip on you comfortingly. As you listened to his heart, you realized that you cried at a lot of songs, most of them had been his, but he had never been there to witness it. Of course, Dean had let you listen to the unfinished products of this songs. But he had always been away on promotional tours when you could actually listen to the finished, polished product. By the time, he had come back, you would have listened to the song so many times, it still gave you the feeling, but not the tears. You smiled at the thought. It was very different having him there to hold you through the process, and even though you felt silly for crying at a song, Dean didn’t even blink.

You looked up at him and admired his jawline, his smooth expanse of cheek, his soft eyelids. He glanced down at you and you smiled. Before you could stop yourself, the words were already out of your mouth. “I’m in love with you.”

It was the first time you had ever told Dean that. Both of you were the type of people to not say those words lightly, even in a passing sense. You were always careful to tell him how much you cared, but the word love had never come out. Both of you had had previous relationships that went too fast and hearts were broken in the end, so love was not something that either of you took lightly. Though you were both aware of how the other felt, the gravity of the words hung in the air.

Dean looked down at you with slightly widened eyes as his eyes took in your face. There was only a millisecond of hesitation before he pulled away to look at you. His arms were on your shoulders and yours on his waist as he looked down at you and you looked up at him. Time seemed to stand still as you smiled at him and his face broke out into a small smile in return. You could hear the rain outside and you thought you could still hear Dean’s heartbeat, but that might have been your own pulse raging in your own ears. “I’m in love with you, too,” Dean breathed almost inaudibly.

Dean engulfed you in his arms and the two of you were as close as humanly possible. His scent filled your nose and you closed your eyes as calm washed over you. Dean pressed you closer and he knew he never wanted to let you go. He wanted to stay just like this, forever. You smiled to yourself, all of this for some tears spilt over a lyric of a song.

BACKGROUND

harlow grew up everywhere and nowhere all at once -- her father does international banking and investment while her mom is a famous actress/model who was always traveling for shoots so she stayed with her dad more often than not. but even he moved around a ton so she lived all over the world - milan, seoul, tokyo, sydney, paris. you name it. most of her childhood was spent being homeschooled by her nanny and chasing after her brother in their new hometowns.

around when she turned 14, her dad bought a family house in atlas city along the bay. her and her brother jason were able to finally put down roots in a city and make friends that they could actually keep. this is when she first met adrien, possibly her first best friend beyond her brother.

she went through high school and just kept her walls up -- figuring it was easier since it was only a matter of time before their dad decided to move them again.

when jason went on to college (university of kyoto), harlow was absolutely crushed because he left her behind and she didn’t have anyone left in atlas city. she begged her dad to move them back to japan, but she was stuck in atlas city.

while traveling and moving around so much, harlow fell in love with food. she’s eaten so much street food, it’s insane. each place they lived, their father would hire a cook to keep the kids alive and they would each teach harlow how to cook in their local styles. this would inspire everything she would cook.

when she graduated high school, she didn’t go to college, but instead managed to get a job at a michelin star restaurant that gave her the training she would need to crack the food scene. during this time, she was living with adrien and she found herself falling in love -- something she didn’t expect at all. but he was her best friend and knew her better than anyone so everything made sense. so when she got pregnant, she was unbearably happy.

but then work became more demanding and she found herself missing out on both leo and adrien’s lives and that filled her with so much guilt and dread. rather than just continuing to hurt them, she decided it was best to remove herself from the equation entirely and moved to france to complete her formal culinary training.

now she’s back in atlas city to be close to her son. she opened a casual bakery/brunch/cafe place called beacon last year and it’s extremely successful. her donuts? insane. try the honeycomb one. but this year she has opened a more formal, fancy restaurant called hearth in the orchard district. she’s also looking to open a pizza place with roger so keep an eye out!

end of the day, harlow is a little competitive, mean, sharp, and cold. but she’s fiercely protective and passionate about what she does. sometimes you can spot the crack in her armor when she lets herself relax and be free.
