@of-naboo // starter call
the force carries whispers . . . and some of them are wicked. ben solo hears them through his training sessions on occasion , and his eyes rove desperately over the faces of his peers in hopes of finding mirrored despair. but the voices seem to be meant for him ALONE ; there are no reactions , not even a flinch.
they are always loudest at night , as darkness and silence settle over his bedchambers . . . sometimes , he swears that they come from the shadows themselves. no longer just an apparition , but something TANGIBLE. something ( or someone ) real.
why ben fails to bring the whispers to his master's attention , one may never know. it's as if his lips are sewn shut with invisible strings any time he so much as thinks about bringing them to light. besides, there is some small power in keeping a secret others may not know. that power stokes the dark thing blossoming in his chest.
so he shoulders the terrible burden, but ben is anything but passive. he turns to luke's teachings and, at the beginning of dusk as the first stars peek through the crimson veil of the setting sun one night , the apprentice clambers into bed and sits cross-legged atop his blanket. he shuts his eyes against the dying light and breathes deeply , searching within himself until all that remains is the force. it doesn't take much time at all ; he is strong in the force , and the force is strong in him.
Tumblr media
when he's ready, he opens his eyes to find an endless whiteness surrounding him in all directions . . . he has been here before. what he didn't predict , though , was a WOMAN to be standing at the height of his meditations. the voices have always been distinctly masculine.
his initial reaction is brash , demanding: ❛ who are you? ❜
trust in the force , his uncle's words, forever imprinted in his mind , bring solace to the pounding of ben's heart. the further he lets go and really TRUSTS , the more of a familiar pull he feels . he knows this woman, but how? ben takes a daring step toward the apparition.
❛ . . . are you here to help me? ❜

#Ind vs Eng, 3rd Test - Ben Stokes wants DRS to scrap umpire's call #TATAIPL #IPL24
#IPL24 # Ben Stokes has called for the Decision Review System (DRS) to scrap umpire’s call after England were left bemused by Zak Crawley‘s second-innings dismissal in their defeat in the third Test against India in Rajkot. Crawley reviewed Kumar Dharamasena’s decision to give him out lbw to Jasprit Bumrah in the ninth over but left the field incensed, believing the predicted path showed the…

Pilgrims Choice
It is a return to an old stomping ground for Ryan Lowe this week as the North End manager returns to his former club, Plymouth Argyle. Lowes choice to leave the Pilgrims in December 2021 didnt go down well at the time with the locals but time is a great healer and much water has passed under the Tamar Bridge since then. North End visit Home Park on the back of a surprise home defeat last Saturday to Stoke City in a fairly attritional game but one in which North End could have no complaints about the result. Now sitting five points adrift of the play off slots it is imperative that North End get all three points against a Plymouth side that hasn`t scored at home in the last three games and hasn`t won at home in the last five Championship encounters.
Reflecting back on last Saturday and a poor home defeat in many respects for North End who were on such a good run but once again succumb to a team in the bottom three in the table. I cannot fault the application and endeavour of North End but the visitors quite simply wanted it more than we did and fought tooth and nail from the first whistle to the last to get the result that they so desperately needed. After falling behind North End quickly replied but the tenacity of the Potters paid off in the end when they got a late goal to seal a much deserved win. The pitch didn`t help matters but it was the same for both teams so no mitigation for North End on that score. We just need to dust ourselves down and go out with an ultra positive attitude down in Devon on Saturday to get this slip up out of our heads.
North End will be without Ben Whiteman for a few weeks with an ankle injury so I guess that means that Potts can no come back in with Brown moving into the midfield. However if Ryan Lowe wants a holding player in the middle then Ryan Ledson may well be the man but but we will only find out the Pilgrims choice at 2pm on Saturday when the teams are announced. In spite of being poor at home since Xmas Plymouth have a decent home record having won eight drawn four and lost six of their eighteen home games scoring thirty eight goals and conceding thirty two. For those who like a flutter this certainly looks like a game where over 2.5 goals would be a good bet. North End have sold over 1,000 tickets for the game so the Whites will be well supported on this longest trip of the season and let`s hope the boys can do the business and make the trip worthwhile for everyone.
And finally this week:- much has been said regarding the Premier Leagues decision not to back a 900m plan for the EFL. It didn`t surprise me in the slightest but when I saw one of the ten teams voting against the deal was Bournemouth I nearly spit my brew out. It isn`t all that long ago that people were going round with buckets to help keep the club alive and this is how they repay all the 72 EFL Teams.

IND vs ENG: Dream11 Prediction Match 2nd Test, India vs England Test Series 2024
Tumblr media
England stunned India when they registered a win out of nowhere in Hyderabad. Traling by 190 runs, England showed a lot of character and went on to register a historic win by 28 runs. That certainly pushed India back to some extent. Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are also not part of the second test due to injuries. So it will be a big challenge for India. The second test will start on Friday at the VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. England will be confident after beating India in the first game, while the hosts need to pull up their socks. IND vs ENG: Match Details Date: 02 February, 2024 (Friday) Time: 09:30 am I.S.T. Venue: Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam IND vs ENG: Live Streaming Details Fans can watch the second test between India and England in India on the Sports18 network. Fans can also enjoy the live action on their mobile phones through Jio Cinema Mobile app. IND vs ENG: Head-to-Head In total, these two teams have played 132 games so far. England are way ahead in the head-to-head competition with 51 wins, while India have won 31 matches so far. There are 50 tests that have ended with no result. IND vs ENG: Pitch Report The surface in Visakhapatnam is expected to be on the slower side. It will be another spinning track where spinners will dominate, and we might see another spin-heavy game. England will go with four spinners, and India are likely to go with a spin-dominante game. IND vs ENG: Predicted XIs India: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Srikar Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj England: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (c), Ben Foakes (wk), Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley, Mark Wood, Shoaib Bashir IND vs ENG: Predicted XI Wicket-keeper: Jonny Bairstow Batters: Ben Stokes, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ollie Pope All-rounders: Ravi Ashwin, Joe Root (Captain), Axar Patel (Vice Captain), Washington Sundar Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Tom Hartley, Rehan Ahmad Also Read: Join Our WhatsApp Channel For World Cup Updates Dream11 Prediction: England will be high on confidence after winning the first game. Players that CSK go after at this year 2024 IPL auction
The IPL auction 2024 is here, only 15 days away. The enrollment of many World cup winning superstars such as Mitch Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazelwood etc., have increased the excitement for this year’s auction many folds this year.
CSK the reigning – defending IPL champions have freed up 31.4 Cr. having released England’s premier all-rounder Ben Stokes (16.5Cr) and a retired Ambati Rayudu (6.75cr) along with others. Thus, they have opened up 3 Overseas and 3 Indian slots available to be filled at the auction. The biggest take from their release is that CSK has released all the other seam bowling options including Pretorius, Magala and Jamieson. They have retained a lonely overseas seamer in Pathirana who left the world cup having suffered an injury.
CSK have a set playing XI retained from their championship season. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Conway will open the batting with Rahane set to come at No.3. The middle order will have Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali. However, the task for CSK think tank at the auction table will be to pick up an able replacement for Ambati Rayudu, who can play spin well and rotate the strike & hold the innings in case of early wickets. The finishing role will fall on the hands of Ravi Jadeja alongside Dhoni and Chahar coming in the late batting line up. CSK did not require much of the service of Chahar with the bat last season. However, it would be better if they can pick up a bowling all-rounder coming lower down the order.
Predicted Playing XI:
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Devon Conway ↗
Ajinkya Rahane
Shivam Dube
Moeen Ali ↗
Ravi Jadeja
MS Dhoni
Deepak Chahar
M Theekshana ↗
M Chowdhary
M Pathirana ↗
Impact Sub: To be Picked
Who they need:
An Overseas Leader of bowling attack: With both Pathirana and Deepak Chahar being injury prone, CSK need a front line seamer who can bowl at the Power play and lead the pace attack in the coming years.
With the likes of Pat Cummins, Gerald Coetzee, Lockie Ferguson available at this year’s auction, CSK can go for one of them with the purse freed up with the release of Ben Stokes.
Mitchell Starc is another option, however, he is injury prone especially in a long tournament like IPL, making him a riskier option. There is a speculation that Josh Hazelwood may not be available for the entire season as he will take some time off due to personal family commitments. This makes both of them a riskier option.
Replacement for Ambati Rayudu: CSK also need a replacement for Ambati Rayudu as the likes of N Sindhu, Shaik Rasheed are still very young and may need to step up to fill this role. So with a purse as large as CSK’s, they can pick an Indian Batsman who can play spin well, preferably a right-handed batsman.
Shahrukh Khan, who is a local and whom CSK is interested during the mega auction (CSK was the penultimate bid going up to 8.5Cr and eventually let him to be picked up by PBKS for 9Cr). He fits the role perfectly as he can play as a finisher at No.6 and can also bowl handy off spin if needed at Chepauk.
Karun Nair is another player who screams CSK on the outlook. He is similar to Ambati Rayudu & Ajinkya Rahane and also at recent times has played some brisk knock at the domestic level. He can be available at rather a cheap rate compared to Shahrukh Khan.
Other options include the likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Manish Pandey and Aman Khan. Though Aman Khan is yet to prove at this level, he is a powerful hitter and can bowl at a brisk pace as well. A role clarity to Aman Khan will do wonders and that too under the guidance of the likes of MS Dhoni, Fleming and Mike Hussey, he can a proficient all-rounder.
An Express pace Indian Seam Bowler: CSK does not have an express pace bowler like Umran Malik or Anrich Nortje or Kagiso Rabada who can trouble the batsman with their pace at the death. Though they have Pathirana who impressed everyone and was crowned as Baby Malinga, he needs someone to support him or ease the pressure in case he has an off-day.
CSK can look at the options of Karthik Tyagi (who again CSK were interested at the mega auction). Shivam Mavi, who played for KKR is his earlier season is a veteran and can bowl at the death with consistency. Kamlesh Nagarkoti is another express pacer at the auction waiting to be picked. However, he missed most of the domestic season due to injury and would require faith from the think tank.
Backups:
Apart from the above, CSK needs to pick up couple of overseas option and a domestic Indian talent at the auction.
An Overseas Batting all-rounder:  CSK can opt to pick a backup for Moeen Ali who currently is the only overseas batting all-rounder available in the squad. With Moeen Ali having a mediocre season last IPL with the bat and a forgettable World cup campaign a month ago, CSK should look for a backup option to Moeen Ali.
Travis Head is at the top of the list who will be a like to like replacement who can play anywhere in the order, although he prefers to open the innings these days for Australia. He can amp up the run rate and also bowl off spin. However, he is likely to be under the radar of different franchise and would be difficult to fit if CSK opts to pick a genuine overseas quick (especially Pat Cummins/ Gerald Coetzee) and an Indian middle order batsman (especially Shahrukh Khan).
Then there is also Matthew Short and Tristan Stubbs who are able power hitters and can be a handy off spinners, though not at the proficiency of Moeen Ali. If it needed to be a power hitter who plays spin well, we can look at Josh Inglis who did play very well in his limited opportunity in the world cup. He played a mature knock against SA and to a contrast, he played a quick fire knock against India in the recent T20I series.
An interesting choice as replacement would be Rovman Powell (the west indies T20 skipper), who has improved his game against spin over the last couple of years and an explosive finisher who can wreck carnage to any bowling line up on his days. CSK interestingly went after Rovman Powell at the mega auction and were again the penultimate bid that year to Rovman Powell. Hope they can come on the right side and sign him at this year’s auction.
Overseas Backup Seamer: Again if CSK could secure the service of Pat Cummins or Gerald Coetzee or Lockie Ferguson or Josh Hazelwood, then they need not shell money on the backup option and should look to pick some other overseas option at Base price or at a cheaper rate.
CSK should anyone among the likes of Alzarri Joseph (who played as a premier bowler at JSK), Jason Holder (who CSK looks to pick at every auction), spencer Johnson (the left hand quick who may attract bid from KKR), Tom Curran, Olly Stone, Sean Abbott or even Chris Woakes.
Tom Curran is another one who has improved his batting tremendously in the last one year and would be a very good pick. He is someone who is a great backup as he can bowl at the death and bat lower down the order.
Indian Scout talent: This pick can be anyone from CSK scout talent or net bowler who has promised over the years or at this scout search.
The likes of Shubham Dubey, Arshin Khan etc., can be a very good option.

"I think we will win...": England batsmen make bold predictions ahead of 2nd Ashes Test
Australia beat England by two wickets in the first Ashes Test played at Edgbaston last week. The visitors kept their nerve Pat Cummins (44*) and Nathan Lyon (16*) shared an unbeaten 55-run partnership and chased down the target of 281 to take his team to the target. Ben Stokes-led team now eyeing redemption as both the teams gear up for the second Test, which begins on June 28. Ahead of the…

The Bazball Hypothesis
No one could have predicted that the term 'Bazball' would take the game by storm when it was coined a year ago. Comparisons with the infamous Bodyline (coincidently another B word) used more than 90 years ago may feel inappropriate. But there has been no other strategy since Douglas Jardine invented the leg theory which threatens to overshadow the main Ashes contest.
The ambit of Bazball which started as just a brand of aggressive, positive cricket is constantly expanding. The umbrella field employed by Ben Stokes, his audacious declaration when Root was destroying the Aussie bowling and the left field selection of Moin Ali from test match oblivion are all now considered to be part of Bazball. Even a fairly orthodox batsman like Joe Root got caught up in this new buzz word. The bizarre reverse ramp shot attempted of the very 1st ball of day 4 from Pat Cummins and his dismissal jumping down the wicket to Nathan Lyon in the 2nd innings were completely out of character
Australia which chose a more conservative approach seemed to be playing a different game than their opponents. The fields Cummins set were over defensive and the batting was for a large part cautious right until the end of the match. The Aussie captain finally decided to take the fight to the opposition with some aggressive hitting against Root's part time spin.
Ultimately Australia's decision to stick to the basics won them the game. The old fashioned virtues of occupying the crease and grinding the bowling paid rich dividends to Khawaja, who was arguably the best batsman on either side in the match.
While Bazball has undoubtedly succeeded in generating unprecedented interest in test cricket, it still remains a hypothesis that needs to be fully tested before it becomes a blue print for other teams to follow. What better way of doing this than during an Ashes series. The question which has been on everyone’s mind is whether this new ultra aggressive style of batting will succeed against the formidable Australian bowling.
There are already rumblings from traditionalists like Geoff Boycott who think that England has got too caught up with Bazball and are in danger of reducing the Ashes to an exhibition. Unless results in the rest of the series go England's way, there will be others who jump on the bandwagon of criticizing England's new strategy. What ultimately matters is who has possession of the famous little urn at the end of the series. The jury is therefore still out on Bazball, we will soon know the verdict. Until then, we hope to see more nail-biting finishes. 2.1 million viewers tuned in to Sky Sports to watch the 1st test live, in addition to packed stands at Edgbaston. At a time when test cricket is facing an existential crisis, this is a victory in itself.

#Ind vs Eng - Brendon McCullum backing for Jonny Bairstow: 'I'm sure Jonny will come good' #TATAIPL #IPL24
#IPL24 # Jonny Bairstow has been backed to rediscover his form by England coach Brendon McCullum. Bairstow made 0 and 4 in the 434-run shellacking in Rajkot, continuing an awkward fourth tour of India in which is he averaging 17.00 from six innings. Old Boys Reunion
It will be somewhat of an old boys reunion at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday as North End take on Stoke City in the Championship. Off the field Alex Neil and Paul Gallagher will be in the home dug out and, potentially, on the field will be Ben Pearson and Daniel Johnson. For my money these old boys owe North End nothing as all gave good service to the club, but maybe the comments attributed to Ben Pearson on his departure to Bournemouth left a slight acidic taste in the mouth. North End travel to the Potteries in 5th place in the Championship following three wins and a draw in our first four games and on the back of a stirring comeback last week at home to Swansea City. To be honest I would take anything at Stoke on Saturday because North End have already accumulated the ten points they wanted from the opening five games up to the first international break.
Looking back to last week and a great result for North End after being a goal down at home to the Swans. The visitors played some good football and the signs were ominous when they took the lead just after the half hour. Such is North End`s spirit so far this season that we dusted ourselves down at half time and came out to give a much better account of ourselves. The substitution, bringing on Ali McCann and the formation change did the trick as first Andrew Hughes and then Duane Holmes scored the goals that gave North End the points in a game that we just about shaded on the day. Managers are often criticised when a sub or a formation change goes wrong but all credit to Ryan Lowe last Saturday as he got the tactics spot on in the second half.
It should be a really good atmosphere down in North Staffordshire this weekend with North End easily selling out their allocation of 2,608 tickets for the game. We seem to have a good recent record at Stoke with our last defeat being fifteen years ago. At the time of writing (Friday lunchtime) we still have not signed a striker to help out Will Keane, who I have to say has been excellent in the first four league games. Stoke have made quite a few additions to their squad and there is no doubt that this will be a tough test for North End. However, this is a stadium where the home fans can soon get on the backs of their players if things dont start very well. I expect the manager to make just one change to the side that started last week and that will be McCann coming in for Holmes in the middle of the Park, barring any last minute signings, of course. As I said earlier I would happily take a point but North End are on a roll so we go with high hopes of another good day on the road.
And finally this week:- a little reminder last weekend that Kian Best has only just celebrated his eighteenth birthday and as such deserves plenty of latitude from the Preston faithful. I said after the Bristol game that he is very good going forward but will have to work on his defensive duties as per the Swansea goal last weekend. Nevertheless I think the lad is a fantastic prospect and if he gets 20 games in the Championship this season that will enhance his ability and stock more than a hundred youth games could. Be patient with the lad, he is going to be a real good `un.

Glenn McGrath predicts 5-0 Australia win in Ashes - what do other TMS pundits think?
Glenn McGrath took 10 five-wicket hauls against England and has (probably!) registered just as many 5-0 Ashes predictions The most early anticipated Ashes series for a generation begins on Friday, with England looking to regain the urn from Australia.
