Evenin’, ladies!
Yes, I’m alive and well…the ‘Rona didn’t get me! However, I did welcome another birthday! *Happy 73 to me!* Such an accumulation of years means my get up and go seems to have got up and went AWOL, at least for awhile LOL!
Lucky for us all, fics like today’s recs keep my mind sharp and active! My first two choices come from lethal combinations of some brilliant authors who have…

"The Practice of Love" by belladonnacullen
It is 12 o'clock - lunchtime - and Dr. Bella Swan has an "emergency" waiting in the lab. Based on the dreamy looks of the nurses the young woman prepares herself to meet someone at least as gorgeous as Brad Pitt and is pleased when her expectations are even exceeded. There, dressed with only a thin cotton gown, sits 32-year-old Edward Masen, cancer survivor and the epitome of sexiness.
During one of his regular self checks Edward found a lump on one of his testicles and immediately went to see his uncle, Dr. Carlisle Cullen. Unfortunately for Edward (well, depending on the point of view), Carlisle and his wife Esme decided to spend some days out of town to celebrate their 30th anniversary. That leaves Bella Swan in charge of the practice and Edward in the capable hands of a more than attractive woman...
The Practice of Love is a slow burn. It takes a lot of time for the characters to realize their feelings and admit them to not only themselves but to others around them as well. I'm honest, I've started reading this fanfiction twice and didn't get any further than the first ten chapters. Why? Because I was impatient. Don't expect Bella and Edward to jump into each other's beds at the end of the first chapter, if nothing else than because they are both in more (Jake) or less (Tanya) committed relationships. So as a reader you need a lot of time on your hands to read about all the side plots, get to know the characters (Ness a.k.a. Little Bell is such a cutie!), and watch Bella and Edward get closer, step by step. But once you get into the story, it is one hell of a ride!
The Practice of Love consists of 38 chapters and 342,824 words. The story is rated M for foul language and lemons.

"Don't be so sad, dear. This will all work itself out." "Oh, Esme, you don't know that." "But, I believe you do know that... I saw it in your eyes when you came down the stairs just now. Bella, you can't live as long as I have and not know that look. Hold onto that feeling, sweetheart, and remember it when the going gets tough."
