The Original Four Species
Setana (Set-ah-nah)
The first of the first four races created. They primarily live in their kingdom of Setia (Say-she-ah), which is hidden inside of an enormous mountain range. It’s near impossible to get into the kingdom without express permission from the King, or someone that the King has given permission to grant entry to people.
They have huge, darkly feathered wings that, like the rest of their bodies, are extremely durable, and can even be used to shield themselves from most projectile attacks, many different kinds of magic, and some melee weapons. Each full-blooded Setana (and many half-blooded), have a vast control over darkness based magics. Some of the more powerful Setana are also gifted with life magic at birth, as well.
A race of mostly males, due to female Setana being born with the Setana’s Sickness (Aksivai Setana in the ancient language), which ends up killing the one that’s contracted it before they see their first century in nearly all recorded cases.
Along with their magic, they’re also extremely skilled beast tamers, and have an innate ability to cast spells and such that are able to seize control of the minds of animals and beast shifters (which were only Aifaen at that point) for short periods of time.
Their King is Fekik, and he’s Creation’s First. Most of his people like him well enough, but they’re also terrified of displeasing him, lest Creation punishes them for upsetting their favorite son.
Fekik has a rival in the Ahniri King, Rarik, and the two were locked in a supposed “war” for a very long time. Fekik and the Aifaen pack leader, Adikae, are on civil, but not necessarily friendly terms-- it’s mostly professional. Fekik and Sivel are longtime enemies, and he and Rarik worked together to kill Sivel (to their knowledge), and wipe out most of the Vasyrus species at the end of the First Creation’s War.
They pay their respects to Lassis, a black and silver crystal spire that’s floating in a cavern above Setia’s main waterfall.
Ahniri (Ah-nee-ree)
The second of the first four races created. They primarily live in their kingdom of Ahnia (Ah-nee-ah), which is a largely flat, forested area with a river running through the center of it from east to west. Easy to access everywhere except for the city itself, which is heavily warded, and relies on runes marked onto it’s citizens to be gain entry to it’s different areas.
Their mostly white or pale grey wings are a bit smaller height-wise than the Setana’s, but are longer instead, to allow for extremely high rates of speed. While they can be easily injured, they can reach near blinding speeds both in the air and on foot, and are very agile as well, making it easy for them to dodge most attacks. Each full-blooded Ahniri (and again, many half-blooded) have a vast control over light based magics. Some of the more powerful Ahniri are also gifted with death magic at birth as well.
Unlike the Setana, they don’t have an inherent illness that plagues their people, but they are instead very susceptible to mental attacks, in general.
Many Ahniri can cast illusionary, or sound based magic on a fairly wide scale, which makes attacks by them rather tricky to effectively defend against. Luckily, many of them don’t have as much magic available for them to use as the Vasyrus, or even the Setana, by a small amount.
Their King was Rarik, and he was the first of the Ahniri to ever be created. As a whole, his people loved him, though there were some that were dissatisfied with his penchant for favoritism, and starting fights with other species’ rulers.
Rarik was also Fekik’s brother-in-law, having married the Setana King’s younger sister, Kalliah. Their fighting seems to have started over her. Rarik was very close with the Aifaen pack leader, Adikae, and the two had an alliance together from early on. Rarik, like Fekik, hated Sivel, and along with helping to kill the Vasyrus King, he was also the one that killed Sivel’s mate, Quella, the Vasyrus Queen.
The Ahniri pay their respects to Innaius, a white and gold crystal spire that floats above Ahnia’s castle.
Aifaen (Eye-Fay-En)
The third of the first four races created. They primarily live in the Aifaen Plains; a hilly, but mostly open expanse littered with caves, rivers, vast lakes, and wooded areas. Access is easy to get, though if one ventures too close to where the packs are, it’s likely that they’ll be challenged to ascertain whether or not they’ll be welcomed.
Aifaen are beings that have the ability to shift between a humanoid form, and the form of a mythical beast. As a whole, they are typically much larger in stature than the other races, though aside from their size, rapid natural healing capability, and rather large amount of vitality/endurance, their stats are widely variable by their breed of beast. Most Aifaen, full-blooded or not, don’t have control over any elemental magic, though there are some that are exceptions to that rule.
Illness, both mental and physical are found rarely in the Aifaen culture. The most pressing matter they typically have to deal with is the tension between the regular, and Vashi-Aifaen. Aifaen are born in their beast forms, but the Vashi are born in their human forms instead, and are widely seen by the others as being inferior.
They do all have very fine-tuned senses as a whole, and it includes a sort of sixth sense, that makes it near impossible to fool or sneak up on an Aifaen, even with magical assistance.
Their King (pack leader) back then was Adikae, who was of the original land-dwelling Aifaen. His people respected him, but he was really only holding the spot of leader for Netherin, who is the current King, and at the time was too young to lead. Overall, Adikae is still looked at as the highest ranking alpha in the packs.
Adikae was civil to Fekik mostly because he didn’t want to bring on any negative consequences from Creation onto his people; otherwise he doesn’t care much for the other ruler. Adikae’s relationship with Rarik started when Kalliah introduced the two-- though they didn’t always see eye to eye, they were good friends, and never hesitated to come to each other’s aid when in need.
The Aifaen payed respects to Bralis, a blue and green crystal spire that hangs over the Aifaen plains. They say that Bralis “died”, however, and no longer stay in that area out of respect.
Vasyrus (Vaas- air-us)
The last of the first four races created. They primarily live in Vasyral, a confusing kingdom littered with ruins, and natural labyrinths. Along the coast is the main city-- an architectural marvel that, while easy to get into, rarely allows access into any of the beautiful buildings there to non-Vasyrus.
Vasyrus are beings that are generally blessed with a high capacity for knowledge and magic. They’re seen as being graced with beauty and volatility in equal amounts, and as a whole, should be avoided whenever possible. They are an extremely dangerous species that are rightly referred to by the other original races as “Magical time-bombs”, due to the strong tie between their magic and their volatile emotions causing them to literally self destruct when they lose control of their powers, causing unavoidably widespread destruction in all cases. They’re gifted with control over water, fire, earth, and wind magic at birth, though some can also steal the magic of other beings as well.
As stated above, they’re extremely volatile and emotional as a whole, which makes them very unpredictable in how they’ll interact with other species. Their major downfall is that, more often than not, they’re a very solitary species, that tends to travel alone, or in groups of 3 or less.
Along with their ability in magic, they’re also very good with runes, seals, barriers, sigils, etc. of all kinds. This also means that they have an innate ability to dispell a lot of magic, as well.
Their King is Sivel, and while he’s not one of the first (not even one of the first hundred) Vasyrus, he was the one that finally managed to unite them all, and convinced them to pool their knowledge and work together more often. Most obey him, and even like him as a King, and those that don’t are far too afraid of him to speak against him.
Sivel hates Fekik, and he used to go out of his way to antagonize the other King. Since being “killed”, however, he’s kept his distance and chooses instead to simply watch and gather information on the Setana instead. Even more-so than with Fekik, Sivel hates Rarik, who killed his wife, Quella. In retaliation, Sivel set forth a plan that ended in Rarik having to kill his own children. Sivel doesn’t care for Adikae (or any of the Aifaen), and sees them mostly as inferior beings. That may be a good thing though, as he primarily avoids/ignores them.
The Vasyrus pay respects to Nereius, a red and yellow crystal spire that is hidden somewhere inside the labyrinth that is the Vasyrus palace.
