Os Miseráveis - L&PM Comic
Credits:
- Script: Daniel Bardet
- Lineart: Bernard Capo
- Colouring: Arnaud Boutle
- Translation: Alexandre Boide
Published originally in French, in 2010, by Glénat Editions, and in Portuguese in 2012 by L&PM Editores
This is a contextual post explaining what exactly I'm talking about when I eventually post the rest of the images: This comic is an100 page long, pretty straightforward abridged adaptation of the brick. I found it while browsing the graphic novels section of a chain bookstore I love.
And Enjolras has huge sideburns. I cannot stress enough how much they haunt me at night.
(sorry about my scanner, it doesn't agree with the colouring very much)
The comic has a short afterword, written in collaboration with Alain Dallon and Agrippine Virgulon, about victor Hugo's life and some of the context of the time period where the story is set. It even notes about the parisian sewer and Waterlooo digressions. This is actually kind of a nice illustration, it was originally the cover of Tome I in the French edition. I haven't read it all but it's, again, very straightforward, it doesn't go very deep into the historical context.
It's part of a Glénat Editions collection, directed by Roger Brunel, that puts together adaptations of classical literary works into comic books. This particular book was put together by the director Marie-Thérèse Asmar Courie of Éditions Adonis. Reading the list of adapted works I? can't tell exactly why they picked the works that they did? there doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to put Homer, Hugo and Verne together like that but who am I to question Roger's choices amirite
It has UNESCO support too... I don't know.
here is the link to the original french version on goodreads, in case you guys are interested

I've had this comic for a long time and haven't posted much about it because I've never had a chance to do that before, soo let's talk about it!
This is a French Comic by Daniel Bardet, illustrated by Bernard Capo & colored by Arnaud Boutle, published in 2013 by France Loisirs editions (First published in 2010 by Glénat editions)
It's two volumes in one and contains the entire story.
Love the cat watching Valjean and The Bishop from the window to make sure everything is all right.
In this comic we have a lot of versions of Javert:
1 - the original Javert
2 - Marius who looks like a younger version of Javert
3 - Enjolras who also looks like Javert but with long blonde hair
and every soldier looks like Javert too.. this comic is a NIGHTMARE.
I already cried and finished about those and now it's your turn guys.
They try to make it normal but naaaah it's NOT.
because recognizing someone just by their muscles and strength will NEVER be a normal thing.
Idk why the way Valjean holds the doll made me laugh.
My girl was REALLY needed a doll..
What I liked most is that all places look so beautiful. Here is the bishop's garden.
and here Montreuil-sur-Mer looks really lively and wonderful!
even the convent!
The riot moment is so good too.
These Les Amis will definitely judge you.
This Bossuet is 10/10 to me.
Marius is just little meow meow look how he clings to Eponine's arm <3
You can tell by her face how tired she is of him.
Love this little moment where Courfeyrac bandaged Marius's forehead in the book but here it's Enjolras instead of Courfeyrac but I still like it.
Yeah…

Les Misérables | French Comic By Daniel Bardet & Illust By Bernard Capo (2013)
When I saw this I was like why are they so close that their foreheads literally touched? then I remembered that this is what actually happened.
The difference that made me delay in realizing this is that Jean Valjean seems very clear here, so there is no need for Javert to approach him to get to know him.
but the creators of this comic love the drama between them so they put this part on anyway.
