“The eyes must stay supplanted to the flesh, for if they don’t, well… Surely you’ve seen what happens, dear hunter? All is not as it seems, in Yharnam… Not even the humble pebble.”
I have not stopped thinking about a Bloodborne 'theory' (there's p rock solid (lol) evidence for it imo) I read once that all pebbles are/were actual eyes at one point, and it IS gonna be mentioned in this fic, I stg

HEY YOU!! DEAR FRIEND!! ANSWER ALL OF THOSE AO3 WRAP UP QUESTIONS!! (if you want... Lol)
HEY YOU!! I SHALL DEAR FRIEND!! THANK YOU FOR ASKING!! (under the cut tho cause this is long)
How many words have you written this year?
If my math is correct.....150k words. omg? last year it was 98.7k so I wrote more this year somehow. neat!
2. How many works did you publish this year?
Published 21, but worked on 24 since three of my fics were multichapters that I started last year :)
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
Hmm....probably a three way tie between superstition, severed, and sunday best. superstition I am proud of for actually attempting to write, since it is a proper multichapter with a plot and everything (lolsies). severed was a delight to write and I am very proud of how well I captured the elden ring character relationships despite being nervous to try. sunday best I am proud of because it was a risk to write in a VERY different fandom than I was used to, and I think I did a pretty ok job!!
4. What work of yours has the most hits?
desert hearts, with 3,429 hits. it is a thousand hits ahead of any of my other works haha. people really liked it ^-^
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
severed and wolves without teeth. neither got a ton of feedback, but I expected them to get none hahaha. so the handful of comments from people were really nice!!! OH and my yellowjackets fic, the world's the same, but something's changing. it got a ton of kudos, way above my average in my main fandom.
6. Favorite title you used
superstition, from the song of the same name by the band The Birthday Massacre. the song fits the fic and its themes perfectly. I also liked but this island's run by sharks, children's bones stuck in their jaws, which is a song lyric from I Love You by Fontaines D.C.
7. If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?
I pull from a lot of random artists, but I think I pulled from Mannequin Pussy more than once this year. such an awesome band, everyone should check them out!!
8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
Bayonetta/Jeanne <3 same as last year!! it is funny to see my fic count for fandoms because Bayonetta definitely dominates. as she should. teehee.
9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
Rosa/Jeanne, for my fic accelerate. it is such a unique dynamic, and writing a toxic and vindictive Rosa twisting the heart of a stubborn Jeanne was really exciting. Not a pairing I love or would write often haha, but it was the most interesting one I sunk my teeth into this year for sure.
honorary mention to Barbara/Melissa from Abbott Elementary. I always feel intimidated attempting to capture them faithfully in fics, but god I adore their dynamic. shoutout to the many very talented writers in the fandom!!
10. What work was the quickest to write?
I don't know, actually. almost all of my oneshots under 4k I wrote in one sitting over the course of an hour or two. I write pretty fast when I have an itch for a small idea. but I will say I wrote A LOT for superstition very quickly. the first five chapters were written before I started posting, and were all written within a month or two.
11. What work took you the longest to write?
definitely whistle lingers inside of your chest. it was a WIP from last year I finally finished after a long period of teeth grinding editing, and honestly I am still not 1000% happy with it. from start to finish it probably took me at least seven months. funny, since it is only 4k lmao.
12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
*shaky smile* well....................at least 15. ahahahahaha. superstition is obviously my "big project" with a planned 20 chs and might not even get finished next year. right now we are on ch 5, so we shall see. I have a lot of smaller oneshots planned and/or half written. mostly for bayonetta, but I have a few for abbott elementary, bloodborne, portal, and elden ring.
13. What’s your longest work of the year?
superstition. right now it is sitting at 25k and I have plans to release another ch before the year is out (hopefully!!). longest not-multichapter was severed, at 13k. shoutout to skelebotanicals for typing up the 90 HANDWRITTEN PAGES of that fic's first draft. a true hero.
14. What’s your shortest work of the year?
acquired taste, a silly gift fic for skelly. it was a whopping 397 words.
15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
superstition !! *crying screaming throwing up* but quite a few of my oneshots will definitely be done in the first few months of the year since those are all in the editing stages already and aren't too long.
16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
hurt/no comfort, probably. sorry.
17. Your favorite character to write this year?
*in balder's voice* ROSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bayonetta Origins gave us some more crumbs about her, so it was a delight exploring various facets of who she is/who she could be. the most fun characters to write are ones that are technically in canon, but essentially become OCs since so little is known about them imho. lolsies.
I also really enjoyed writing Barbara Howard for Abbott Elementary!! she is SO specific and such a delight to crack open.
18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
Malenia and Miquella. huge thank you to Wilmaa for giving me some advice when I was shaping their interactions in severed. and to be honest, Bayonetta herself!! I always find her difficult to capture, despite her being my favorite character. Or maybe that is why she is my favorite....hmm......
19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
Chell/GLaDOS :D TOXIC ROBOT HUMAN YURI ! ! ! ! !
20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?
maybe king of silence? I just really enjoyed it. feel good with only a touch of angst.
21. How many kudos in total did you get this year?
I am too lazy to count. A couple hundred, probably. I write for small fandoms, so any interaction is a gift and a joy :)
22. Which work has the most comments?
desert hearts, of course. but I reply to every comment, so my comment count on ao3 is always half of what it says, since the other half is just me haha.
23. Did you do any collaborative works this year?
till death do us part, with dubhgloinne >:) what does it say about me that my only collab work is a raunchy smut fic published three days into the new year?
24. Did you write any gifts this year?
ya!!!! I wrote gifts for dubhgloinne, XilianX, Wilmaa, and skelebotanicals. I think six in total? I really enjoy writing gift fics, but they always make me nervous. what if the recipient doesn't like it !?!?!?!?!?
25. Did you receive any gifts this year?
YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I received three this year, from Wilmaa, Dikhotomia, and TheValaxy. I feel very very very blessed that all of them wrote such wonderful fics and were kind enough to gift them to me......Wilmaa and Dikhotomia enshrined the best parts of desert hearts from their own perspectives, and TheValaxy reawakened my love and need and desire for Knight!AU bayojeanne. THANK YOU MY FRIENDS <3 <3
26. What’s your most common category?
F/F easily (lesbian moment!) but I have enjoyed writing more Gen works this year :)
27. What do you listen to while writing?
whatever music is itching at my skull in the moment. some artists this year I really loved and found motivating include Mannequin Pussy, Florence + The Machine, Rina Sawayama, Atarashii Gakko!!, the Nova Twins, Fontaines D.C, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
that is like asking me to pic a favorite child.....guh. maybe accelerate. I really enjoy my weird fucked up AU fics. night, I stand walked to accelerate could run. the morgana/rosa fics were also fun tbh.
but honestly I really loved all of my branching out fics for other fandoms. sunday best + moon river for abbott elementary, severed for elden ring, wolves without teeth for bloodborne.....fond of them all.
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
literally anything from severed. I was really proud of the descriptions in that piece.
also, this opening bit from sunday best:
Melissa watches with bright eyes as Ms. Barbara Howard makes her way across the parking lot, smiling politely and greeting every person who crosses her path. The day is overcast, and the ground is still wet from the previous night’s rain shower, but that’s fine, because Barbara herself is brighter and warmer than any sun. She’s radiant in a modest dress the color of fresh cut daffodils, her usual pearls laid carefully about her neck, lips painted in a muted plum. It’s September, and starting to get chilly, but Barbara looks like summer, so much so that Melissa thinks she’d be just fine without the protection of her trusty leather.
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
that I can branch out and write for other fandoms!! I was shocked at how I was able to find the unique voices for a lot of different characters outside of the bayonetta fandom....happy I took risks cause they paid off :) I think I also am surprised as just how much I have written haha. I love writing so much, and it is hard to believe I went so many years NOT writing for pleasure.

Time to clutter up the timeline, but I had the idea to follow up on the Soulstober post I made with some fun comments that I didn't put on the actual AO3 work (mostly because they sort of interrupt the flow of the very short stories), so I'll do it here where only the real OGs will be able to see what I say.
Day 1: Wings
Lot of people drew Malenia for the wings, and that's fair, but almost all of them did her second phase. I love her Scarlet Valkyrie imagery (and her helmet. God I love that helmet), and the fact her trinkets in Elden Ring reference the wings and victory just was a no-brainer.
Day 2: Scavenge
I linked the fic to my girlfriend. About two minutes later I just hear her yell "Damn it, Patches!" from the other room. Clearly I did something right.
Day 3: Eye
Just wanted to do something for the dead Choir dude you find with the Cosmic Eye Watcher badge on their corpse. Also wanted the Upper Cathedral Ward to fall apart in a lot of the same ways and for a lot of the same reasons as the Research Hall did (In the Hunter's Nightmare, at least). Parallels!
Day 4: Cold
I wanted to go contrary to how many people were drawing Friede (and one or two of Priscilla, bless those folks) for this. Also, wanted to fit as many references to many different kinds of "cold" as possible. Cold tension between Maria and her mother, cold weather at Cainhurst, Maria's slow descent into a much colder personality, and of course, cold and dead. (Ask me what I think Maria was like at Byrgenwerth pre-massacre sometime)
Day 5: Stars
Back to predictability, it's just a quick post-script to the Age of Stars ending from Elden Ring, with a gender-neutral Tarnished. Yes, I do rather enjoy that ending.
Day 6: Rot
Most people associate Malenia with rot, which is fair! Hers is the strongest association, of course. But Friede is the OG on that one.
This is just a quick blurb about what I think was actually going on in Ariandel. Read this and it'll be obvious why I decided to write Rosenrot in the first place.
Then ask me about my Friede headcanons/interpretations sometime.
Day 7: Rune
Caryll is just a silly little guy. Also I know the game calls them "inhuman mutterings of the Great Ones" but I just love playing with the idea that the language of the Great Ones is a whole entire Experience that isn't actually like listening to words.
Day 8: War
Golden Order vs. Caria and Marika's decision to sic Radagon on Rennala. Whether or not that was a good idea or Marika shot herself in the foot in the funniest way possible will depend on what you consider the relationship between Radagon, Marika, and Rennala all was.
Also I love unhinged Marika. The original ending of the chapter had her cursing her steward to never be able to talk again, but it flowed weird.
Day 9/10: Window/Sibling
I had this really strong image of Lothric sitting at a window and talking to his brother. In lieu of trying to come up with a second prompt for the second day, I just combined the two together into one.
I love Lorian and Lothric. Fun characters, probably my second favorite boss fight in Dark Souls 3. Banger soundtrack.
Day 11: Fear
So my girlfriend started a new Bloodborne playthrough last weekend, and while I was sitting on my computer playing a much brighter and friendlier game, I couldn't help but note just how panicked and fearful the huntsmen are wandering the streets of Central Yharnam when they attack you (and even when you hear them muttering to themselves). They're absolutely terrified of you, of your Hunter. There are a lot of things to fear in Yharnam, but your Hunter seems to be one of the most central ones. When disempowerment of the player/character is sort of a hallmark of the Souls series, Bloodborne flipped that on its head in a way, too, just like the slower Dark Souls combat. You're the apex predator here. You're an unknown variable, and you're terrifying.
Then you kill the townsfolk, and their gods, and you sort of prove them right in a way; they SHOULD have been afraid of you.
Man I love Bloodborne.
Day 12: Rain
Breakdown of cycles, weather patterns. Also a slight reference to that post in the main tags that's like "Bloodborne: Sopping wet, Dark Souls: Dusty and dry, Elden Ring: Normal amount of humidity".
Like what if the "dry" was a side-effect of disrupted weather cycles due to the Flame's waning?
(I say "dry" but you run through all kinds of mud and puddles in Dark Souls, and places like Irithyll are still snowing. So, there's still precipitation somewhere.)
Day 13: Mystery
Fia and Rogier and something akin to pillow talk. Going to Stormveil Castle and plumbing the depths beneath it can only end well for Rogier, right? :')

blankets + laurence x ludwig? :>
Title: Blankets Fandom: Bloodborne Characters: Laurence the first Vicar/Ludwig the holy Blade Word Count: 741 AO3-Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/34122931
Summary: Laurence is freezing during a cold winter day. Ludwig is there to help him out.
(Authors's note: This takes place post Frenzy. If you haven't read this fic of mine, all you need to know is that Laurence got a Frenzy from being grabbed by an Amydgala and spent a few weeks in a catatonic state. He is still recovering from it in his piece, so he can't move around much without help.)
Prompt 27: Blankets
@sicktember
Laurence was freezing.
He always had been susceptible to the cold, but ever since his Frenzy it had gotten a lot worse. It hadn’t even snowed today and the sunlight had filtered in through the windows of the church most of the day, but he was sitting in his wheelchair and shivered violently. As if he wasn’t inside, but outside, surrendered without protection to the harsh winter winds of Yharnam.
He could barely concentrate on his work. He had enough trouble to hold a simple pen without it falling down over and over again, because his grip wasn’t strong enough, but with his hands shaking so much, he couldn’t write a single straight letter.
After around five minutes, he gave up and hugged himself in a fruitless attempt to warm himself up. His hands were ice cold and clammy. He looked over to the fireplace of his office. It was too early to light it, but he considered ordering Florence to light it anyway the next time she came in. He couldn’t work in this state.
He hoped that she would come in soon. Laurence was not in the condition to light it himself, he couldn’t even walk more than a few steps before his legs gave up on him. The aftermath of him being in a catatonic state for several weeks.
When there was a knock on his door and the handle turned, Laurence started to speak, or at least he tried to. “F-Fl-Flo-”, was all he managed between his chattering teeth. As the door opened, it wasn’t Florence standing there, but Ludwig.
“Laurence, I wanted to discuss a new training program with y-, are you alright? You look awfully cold.”
“L-Lu-”, Laurence started and then gave up, simply shaking his head. Ludwig was at his side within a few steps and felt his skin.
“You are ice cold.”, he said. “You need to get warmed up as soon as possible.”
Instead of pushing Laurence’ wheelchair, Ludwig simply picked him up. Laurence didn’t even have the strength to complain, especially not when Ludwig was warm. Laurence cuddled in his chest while Ludwig carried him away.
“You lost a lot of weight during your frenzy.”, Ludwig said. “You could barely eat anything and all you could eat was liquid food. You never had much on your ribs, Laurence, but lately you are awfully thin. I am not surprised that you freeze so much, especially because you never liked the cold.”
“Can’t eat… that much.”, Laurence replied, finally getting out some words after Ludwig had warmed him a little bit.
“Of course not, I talked with your doctor and the infirmary and they all told me that you need to get used to solid food slowly again. That is why I cook you two liquid meals and one solid meal at the moment. And even the solid meals are as soft as possible.”
“I want to eat bread again…”, Laurence murmured, missing the crunchy texture, especially of pretzels, his favourite food.
“And you will. But first, you need to warm up.”, Ludwig had arrived at his destination, which was Laurence’ room. He entered and laid Laurence down on the bed. Then, he went to the armchair and to the couch that were placed in the room and gathered all the woolen blankets. In the meantime, Laurence had already cuddled himself into the feathery blanket of his bed, starting to shiver again once Ludwig’s warmth was gone.
“For me this will be a bit warm.”, Ludwig said as he laid the three woolen blankets over Laurence. “So allow me to get undressed before I join you.”
Upon these words, Laurence already felt warmer. When Ludwig was already warm through his clothes, then he would be extra warm when there was only his skin between Laurence and him.
After Ludwig got rid of almost all of his clothes minus his underwear, he joined Laurence under the blankets. “Phew, it’s warm in here.”, he said. “And you are still shivering.” He took Laurence into his arms. Laurence very much accepted his embrace and cuddled himself against Ludwig.
“I won’t shiver for long when you stay with me.”, he murmured and in fact, he felt the warmth returning to his body and his violent shivering stopping. Ludwig was slowly stroking his hair and Laurence felt himself relax, soon to be asleep in his boyfriend’s warm embrace.
(Author's note: Laurence' sickness in here is actually not simply freezing, he has low blood sugar from barely eating anything. I used to have it really bad and there is no way to stop the shivering and freezing, it can even be really warm outside and you still shiver and freeze.
This was the tenth fill for the sicktember fics! I had fun working on it! The last two are the same prompt with different characters, so they will come out on the same day.)

Ten (Writing) Questions
I was tagged by @karnacasraven
1. What time of the day are you most productive at writing?
I write the most between 9PM and 3AM. Typically later in the day because I’ve had a chance to do other things that my brain might nag me about. I usually make a mug of cocoa (doesn’t matter the outside temp) and write before bed.
2. How many WIP’s are currently in progress? And if more than one which one is your favorite?
HAHAHAHAHAHA. Let me go check. I have ELEVEN active WIPS meaning one’s I’m currently working on, I rotate depending which AU I’m in the mood for. Three of those are currently updating on Ao3 Survivors, Wings Over Dunwall, and Dark Craving. One is my novel. The rest are either one-shots or long form fics that I don’t want to post until they are done to minimize the amount of WIP I have on my Ao3. My favorite? God, Survivors probably, I’ve been working on it since 2014. Of my newer projects I’m having a blast with my Prey fic and Wings Over Dunwall.
3. What’s your favorite OC couple?
From my own novel, Miles and Wayde. I’ll never not love them with power of a thousand burning suns. Miles and R is really good too, but they’re not romantic, just host and parasite.
My other fave couple has to be my OC Nate with my friend @thepunchlineislesbian‘s OC Edward. Ed and Nate are so fucking cute together in every single AU we’ve ever done. From monsters to mythical creatures to fucking warrior cats they are the cutest fight me.
4. What’s the least favorite book you have ever read?
In school I was never fond of The Great Gatsby. I never took to stories where cheating on a loved one was the central theme. Never liked how much my class loved the story.
As far as non school related books go... I’ve been reading a lot lately, (bless half price books) and so far I’ve picked up a LOT of good titles. But there was one stinker in recent memory a book called No Safety in Numbers by Dayna Lorentz. Wow was that book a dud. It was just awful all the way through. Great idea terrible everything else. Someday I’ll start writing book reviews and this one will get no mercy.
5. If you could live in a world from a book, which one?
100% I would leave my life right now to go live in the world of the Raksura from The Books of the Raksura series by Martha Wells. No joke, see ya Earth I’m going to be a Raksurian Warrior thank you very much. Sterile, have wings, can shapeshift, shiny scales and sharp spines, beautiful culture AND I get disemboweling claws? Sign me up. Beyond that there’s no humans, beautiful towns with unique culture, wonderful landscapes, interesting and deadly wildlife, it just sounds like a blast to explore from the sky on wings or an airship. Sure there’s always the threat of being eaten alive by the Fell, but hey, nothing’s perfect.
6. Did someone inspire you to write?
Yeah some fucking bullies when I was child. haha. No really, that’s how it happened. I got picked on a lot as a kid, so I stayed inside and read a lot of books and wrote a lot of stories. I had notebooks filled with dumb story ideas and I never stopped. Sure as I got older I got some style inspiration, Rob Thurman comes to mind, but mostly it was me who inspired me. I had stories I wanted to tell and no one else would tell them but me. So I did.
7. How often do you write?
I try for daily. At least one paragraph a day, or one line of dialogue. I do a personal NaNoWriMo in June or July and actual NaNoWriMo in November. Mostly I’ve found that if I work slowly bit by bit I can blow past writer’s block. Doesn’t mean shit gets done fast, but at least it’s getting done. I also use the “Don’t Break the Chain” method of motivation. Where I’ll set a goal for what has to be done a day, then every day I complete the goal I get to make a little X or a star on the day in a calendar. The idea being that after a few days I won’t want to break the continuous chain of stars or X’s. Some people make literal paper chains too.
8. Did someone you know inspire a certain OC?
Nope. I try not base any of my OC’s on people I know because I find it too weird. I can’t even write self insert stuff without getting paranoid. Once I tried to do a fic for a Homestuck Session between my friends and I backed out because it was too weird to be writing about people I knew as if they weren’t real.
9. What’s your favorite setting to write about?
I’m a huge sucker for either Urban Fantasy or Sci Fi with a dash of post apocalyptia. Survivors (novel version) is Sci Fi, but my novel about bird people co-existing with squid people is fantasy. Someday I’ll pen a proper urban fantasy as well.
10. Do you have a certain song or playlist that you listen to while writing?
Yes I have several. Depending on my mood. I’ll put on a Fallout 4 Diamond City Radio mix, a 24 hour electro-swing station, or soundtracks from games. Recently I’ve been playing the soundtracks from Dishonored 2 and Prey. The Bloodborne soundtrack gets played frequently too. I have to have songs that either don’t have lyrics, or have lyrics I’ve heard so many times I can write without having the urge to sing along. But I can’t write without music on, something has to be playing in the background or it just won’t work. In high school I used to write to J/K-pop, Vocaloid, or Homestuck albums.

Oooooo ⭐!!!! What have you been dying to talk about friendo?
Hm, pretty much all the WIPs I still have to keep kinda secret ^^ But why not use this opportunity and talk about them a bit?So there is of course my current multichapter “Keeping it together.” This story I had already started to write in february, but got stuck and wrote “Duel Gone Wrong” instead. And I didn’t even thought that it would have got to almost 40k words and 80 kudos on AO3, wtf? I am so happy about this. So I was thinking “Eh, I can use large chunks of the stuff I have already written”, but then I re-read and was like “Cringe! What have I written?” and started to change some stuff, for example fleshing out the chapter one a lot more and giving Dusk more personality and a role in the story and adding Sif, which was completely missing from the first draft.
I am far more satisfied with that story now. I have the chapter 11 already written. The whole time I was like “Eh, I probably can finish this in 15 chapters”, but I am not too sure about this anymore... Then my Badthingshappenbingo. I have taken a break from it, mostly because work was super exhausting and a whole lot of my stories I come up with while doing boring tasks at work. And that after I have written 18 stories for it already!Good news! I am back in the groove and have one finished already, but I will wait with publishing after christmas is over, cause usually over christmas people are far too busy. I will try and write the next one too, so that I have a bit of a backlog. And now some spoilers. The next prompts are Smoughstein and kinda NKstein ^^Now for “A Storm is coming.” I must admit, I am bit disappointed that this story hadn’t gotten much attention yet. Well, I guess it is still very early on and people reading it maybe want to wait until there is more before acknowleding its existence. Also, that story was a totally random idea and I the updates are not only slow because I want to focus on KiT and the Bingo prompts, but also because it isn’t really outlined yet. I mean, I have the major plot points there, but how to get there, that is still missing... Also, I finally need to make Tempest into game so that I know how he looks like! Then I have a Bloodborne oneshot in mind, inspired by @qhazomb which commented on my post about Gilbert and had an idea how to save him. I am totally making this into a fic! But alas, time was short and I didn’t had any time to do the research I need for this story. I only gave my hunter a name so far. And last but not least... I am super fascinated by KoS!Ornstein again and want to start a story where he slowly turns into him. @gitgudetama was a big inspiration for the headcanons about this. I haven’t started yet though. Starting four multichapters would be far too much! This has to wait until at least one of them is finished.
