“Hikikomori” by Velvetears

Making your way in the male-dominated Soundcloud scene as a female artist definitely comes with a few added hurdles no one should have to deal with, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the new wave of singers like Velvetears, Reddish Blu, and Saphir from carving out their own lanes, and putting out absolutely mesmerizing music along the way. Velvetears in particular has given the middle finger to the established underground guard, refusing to rely on any major cosigns or blog coverage to develop her extremely dedicated fanbase, and the infrastructure she’s built around her career is all the more sturdy for it. In turn, I see her continuing to thrive as she continues to build something special with her own internal group of supporters and core collaborators.

The Soundcloud description on this one is pretty intense: "Get your antennae set. The melody is about to take hold! Oh yes! A lovely piano lullaby! And we drop! Oscillators dedicate to the background while sweeping melodies take up the first drop. A brief interlude stops the music, inserting vocals before the pianos and drums go back to play. Those in the know about the Blu Saphir vibes will enjoy this one!"
