Sky One in race for Pawan Hans stake - Sky One
UAE’s Sky One is among the bidders in the race to buy the government’s stake in helicopter services company Pawan Hans, according to people aware of the matter. Pawan Hans was put up for sale in December last year. The Sharjah-based company has submitted an expression of interest (EoI) for the helicopter services firm and is planning a bid, the people said. There could be other bidders competing to acquire the company, but ET has not been able to ascertain their names.

Malaysia’s SKS Airways to lease ten E195-E2s
28.05.2023 – 22:28 UTC
SKS Airways (KI, Johor Bahru) signed a strategic agreement with Azorra Aviation and Embraer (EMB, Sao Jose dos Campos) to lease ten E195-E2s at last week’s Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) event. SKS Airways says the aircraft will “open new growth opportunities in the region.
Deliveries of the aircraft will commence in early 2024. The airline, which styles itself as “Malaysia’s new commercial carrier,” already operates a pair of DHC-6-300s from Kuala Lumpur’s Subang Airport and the Embraers will facilitate a significant ramp-up of operations. The lease agreement period is 12 years.
“With these strategic partnerships, we are excited to embark on a new phase of growth, with a fleet of Embraers operating out of Subang. The prevalence of the E-Jets at city airports around the world and the low noise emissions of the E195-E2 makes the aircraft a perfect fit for flights in and out of Subang,” said SKS Airways Director Dato Rohman Ahmad.
The Malaysian government is keen to ramp up scheduled passenger services at Subang….
Malaysia’s AirAsia to open Subang base
10.02.2023 – 02:27 UTC
AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International) is expected to return to Kuala Lumpur’s Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, informally known as Kuala Lumpur Subang, after being forced to quit the airport 21 years ago.
Speaking at a media conference on February 8, Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes said AirAsia has applied to base ten aircraft at the airport and recommence operations there. The move follows a Malaysian government decision to allow scheduled passenger carriers to use narrowbody aircraft as large as B737-800s and A320-200s at the airport, located just 24 kilometres from the centre of the city.
“I always have said that it is a waste of an asset,” Fernandes told reporters. “A big city like Kuala Lumpur should have two airports.” Until Kuala Lumpur International, known as KLIA, opened in 1998, Subang was Kuala Lumpur’s primary airport. In 2002, AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines were ordered to switch their operations to KLIA to boost traffic through that airport. Subang Airport is presently serviced by four passenger carriers – Firefly…
Vietnam Airlines to add two converted A321 freighters
11.08.2022 – 01:23 UTC
Vietnam Airlines (VN, Hanoi) will enter the dedicated freighter market, having signed a commitment with Air Transport Services Group for the sale, P2F conversion, and lease-back of two A321-200s.
“We are acquiring two A321s from them. We’re converting them to freighters, and we’re leasing them back to them,” ATSG’s Chief Executive and President Rich Corrado said during the holding’s quarterly earnings call.
Chief Commercial Officer Mike Berger added that the aircraft will redeliver to Vietnam Airlines in 2023. ATSG did not reveal the STC to be used.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that Vietnam Airlines operates forty-eight A321-200s, of which all but three are owned by the carrier. The airline is in the process of a gradual rollover to an A320neo Family narrowbody fleet. According to its Request for Proposals from January 2022, the two converted A321-200s will be of 2007 vintage of which six of the carrier’s A321s
were built in that year. Vietnam Airlines did not respond to ch-aviation’s request for specific identification of the two…
