Vanilla or Kinky?

Wouldn't you like to know, Weather Boy?

Vanilla, 100%. Part of it is probably trauma, most of the time when he was on his several year long drug trip he did so much kinky sexual stuff that now he has settled down it just leaves him in a bad mental spot to do anything like that. Not to say Augurous would be opposed to some light bondage, or some dom/sub aspects of sex, but his limits are many and solid. Something he didn't get enough of while travelling as a bard was romantic vanilla sex, and that's his absolute favorite. Little in the way of fluff and extra random stuff, he loves it the most when he just gets to spend that time with the person he loves, being completely devoted to them and them alone.

Augurous Vitalus, Rat Trap

What would you have to put under a box to catch Augurous? There’s two answers, one that’s a little funny and one that’s more playing into some negative aspects of his life.

The funny answer would be Syla, he’s done too much that’s almost gotten himself killed to save her, so the easiest way to lure him in would be if his girl was sitting under the box. (Bonus points if she’s in the lingerie he bought while they were in Elden Root.)

The not-so funny answer would be a bottle of Skooma. He hates the stuff, because of how much it messed up his life, so every time he’s seen it since going sober he has gone out of his way to destroy it. You’d be out a bottle of Skooma, but you’d have a very pissed off Augurous in the box.

Thank you, thank you for the Ask. I’m just throwing up a couple random characters since nobody was specified.

1. What is their morning routine? What are the first things they do when they wake up?

Augurous Vitalus

When Augurous wakes up in the morning, his routine varies based on whether or not they are travelling or at an Inn somewhere. If he and his companions are at an Inn; Augurous wakes up and gives Syla a kiss on the cheek if she’s next to him, then goes downstairs to have some breakfast and wait for his friends to start filtering down before they all move on to wherever they are going or whatever they are doing.

If Augurous and company is on the road, it splits further to whether or not he was on last watch. If he’s asleep and somebody is taking watch, he’ll wake up and get ready for the road, then help break down camp if it’s needed. If he’s the one awake on last watch, he’ll wake up Vausmir and Jorn before going to find Kiran and Ba’al to wake them up, and if Syla is still asleep he will set her up in Jorn’s carriage so she can rest while everybody gets back on the road.

Charlisa Redwood

Charlisa’s routines are a little more routine when she wakes up in the morning. First she’ll gather everything she has, then spend a few minutes talking to the flower in her hair that she got from Morro (one of her boyfriends.) After that, if anybody else is still asleep she’ll wake them up then find where some food is or help make breakfast. During breakfast she’s grooming herself, taking care of her hair and feeding Thistle (her familiar) while everybody else is getting ready. She always travels very light, so prep time in the morning can just be dedicated to taking care of herself and helping out the others that she is with.

9. Time pauses for 24 hours and they can just do whatever they want. What do they do?

Wesley Underwood

If time were paused for 24 hours, Wesley would probably have a field day. First he’d start his routine like normal, making some coffee in the morning and waiting for Birdie to wake up. Once he noticed that things weren’t right--he’d go around and test some things at the house or on the farm before confirming his suspicions. After he was sure that time was frozen, he’d go about stealing as much money as he could from the local bank, get the important stuff out of the way first. Once that was finished he’d take care of chores around the farm so that the day’s work was easy as could be once time got back to normal, then he’d finish off the day by playing pranks on all of his neighbors just to pass time before he went back to sleep. Once time was unfrozen the whole town would be incredibly confused and Wesley would be sleeping like a baby in his home until Birdie harassed him for sleeping in.

Master Leedes (Post Civil War/Not SWTOR)

Leedes would be interesting, in that everything he did would be pretty boring or mundane while time was frozen. He’d make himself some tea, kiss his wife on the cheek, then wander around the Jedi Temple on Tython for a few hours. He might go up to the tower that was situated over (what was once, a long time ago) Kalikori Village, spend his time wandering around the different flora and fauna of Tython, possibly even just take a really long walk with his lightsaber left behind at the temple before returning back and meditating for the rest of the time until things were back to normal.

19. What would their 1am convenience store snack purchases be?

Kairous Sancar

Kairous is likely awake at 1am most nights anyways, long hours of sneaking around and keeping his eye out for anybody who would try to attack him. If he went to the convenience store (or whatever the Star Wars equivalent would be), his purchase would probably be a bunch of prepackaged food like protein bars and water for the sake of keeping up a somewhat healthy diet, or at least a fulfilling one.

Simon Mortuem

Simon is a different story altogether, though he’s also awake late more often than he’s not. His purchases would be nothing but energy drinks and snack foods, things that weren’t going to make too much of a mess so he could snack while he was working on different inventions.

I’m going to assume this was in response to this post, because I now realize that I have no actual way of knowing, lmao.

3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

This question also has, multiple answers? It depends on whether you’re talking about his biological father, or somebody that he views as a father figure.

His Biological Father: Brutus Vitalus

Augurous was never able to actually have a relationship with his real father, hell he didn’t even know Brutus Vitalus was his real father until like two months ago in-game. He shares a lot of similarities with Brutus as far as looks go, and to some lesser degree his ideals, but a relationship was never long-lasting enough to really have any sort of impact to Augurous’ life.

His Adoptive Grandfather: Dar’jiradh

Dar’jiradh, and many of the other Khajiit in the caravan, were what Augurous thinks a real father to be. Dar’jiradh supported Augurous while he was growing up and trying to learn as much as he possibly could, Dar’jiradh showed Augurous his first instrument and got Augurous down the path to becoming a musician. All of Augurous’ childhood that he can remember, he held Dar’jiradh in such high regard because of how much of an impact he had on Augurous’ life, and Augurous was devastated when he learned that Dar’Jiradh was dead by the time he finally made it back to Dune.

🍎: Do they share any features or traits with any family members?

This was actually explored a bit in the campaign a few months back, but Augurous bears a striking resemblance to his father as far as facial structure and features go. Beyond that, he doesn't actually know if he has anything else in common with either of his biological parents. He shares the dragon blood with some of his ancestors, and the accent with most of his adoptive family, but the looks is really his main similarity.

Augurous Dovah-Fane:

Soldier, Poet, King by The Oh Hellos

The song is one that I've listened to for so god damned long, but I never really had a character to fit the bill for it until Augurous. A new addition to his playlist. The three characters in the song can all work for different aspects of Augurous' life; past, present, and future (though not in that order.)

Poet:

Augurous, when he was much younger and still called himself J'Rasha Jiradh, took interest in music and learning as soon as he could feasibly play a drum. During a time when war was brewing in Tamriel, he was the storyteller and the musician who kept the kids happy and excited about life in a time when many of the adults in the caravan were worried about how they were going to avoid Thalmor oppression.

There will come a poet

Whose weapon is his word

He will slay you with his tongue

As he grew older, he learned more languages including Dovahzul, focusing on the words and studying so much lead him to learn that he could use the Thu'um (thanks to an ancestor who has since been revealed to him in-game). It's a very literal interpretation of the lyric "whose weapon is his word" because as a bard he could use music to fight and defend himself, but thanks to the voice he could take that a step further and shout at anything that would try to hurt the caravan.

"He will slay you with his tongue", again, is a very literal translation but when I think about Augurous it also has very ominous undertones. The reason he left the caravan is because he accidentally killed his adoptive mother with the Thu'um during an argument, so the "tongue" is a source of horrible memories that caused him to go off the deep end and abandon his family for fear of the repurcussions.

Soldier:

This section can mean two different things in the context of Augurous and his story so far. One of which, Jorn Stout-Steed (played by a dear friend who does not have Tumblr), appears in Augurous' life one day alongside some of his comrades from the war, and Augurous' life is thrown on its head as he's travelling once again with a bunch of strangers who all have such vastly different outlooks to Augurous. These strangers, over the course of their travels, have helped Augurous discover more about himself that he had never known in the first place, and helped him find a new meaning to his life.

There will come a soldier

Who carries a mighty sword

The other side of that, could be a portent of Augurous as he is growing into this new role that had been set in front of him because of his Dragon Blood. He could become a soldier, grow beyond what he would ever have thought possible before meeting his friends (his new caravan).

Recently (within the last few sessions of the campaign), Augurous was gifted a sword by the aforementioned Jorn, following a situation in which Augurous had used Jorn's blade "Stormblade" to cleave a resurrected dragon's head off. Augurous' new weapon, Sandstrike, was a gift from Jorn that also accompanied the name "Dovah-Fane", and it really set Augurous down the path of training with The Voice to become a figure of legend.

King:

The final of the three characters, The King, is more an idea of what Augurous could become in the future. As a player, I'd had ideas of where I might like his story to go as both myself and Augurous were figuring out what his end goal would be. Though not literal, the idea of Augurous becoming a "King" in his own right, a legend, a hero that people would tell stories about for years to come--like many of the dragon blood of the past who had grown to become kings or emperors. He will be the ruler of his destiny, free from the past and the things that would seek to haunt him. (Or hunt him.) "Whose brow is laid in thorn", a reminder that he didn't have the luxury of a silver spoon most of his life, that he carries the weight of the things he's done in the past and the things that have happened to him.

Augurous Vitalis

Augurous is a sucker for the unexpected. He's usually so focused on giving his all to prove his dedication to his partner (Syla), that he doesn't expect anything in return. However it's simple things that might normally excite somebody; walking into their room to see Syla is wearing something provocative, hearing her make comments that she wouldn't otherwise normally make (positive), or anything of Syla showing confidence with him because it would catch him off-guard and be a pleasant surprise.

Dark Councilman Tair

The dark councilman doesn't do that very often and I'm honestly dying to think of what could possibly break this man. Gifts of Sith relics or secrets would be met with interest and with pride, he was a slut in his younger years so he's desensitized to sex at this point, walking into an embarassing situation would probably just be met with swiftly walking out of that situation. I'm going to be real with you, I'm at a loss for this one.

Master Leedes (since I assume you don't mean his SWTOR ancestor)

Give this old man a treat day!!! Waking up to somebody having made tea, setting out an old book for him to read, and being able to spend the whole day with his family would probably have Master Leedes acting like a geezer in a retirement home who's kids do write him often.

Shim Leedes (Because I want to anyways)

You'd have to approach it like you were trying to scare him, honestly. Battlemaster of the Jedi Order, having gone through the things he has, he's probably a tough nut to crack. The easiest way to make him blush (though it's not really something you can orchestrate) is him walking in on somebody changing/indecent in some way. There are few instances in which he would be flustered (positive) so really the only way to get him to blush is to put him in an embarrassing situation in private where he isn't expecting it and doesn't have to put up a front for any reason.

It also depends on which Augurous you're asking about.

J'Rasha Jiradh

J'Rasha was a great musician, he watched over the other kids in the caravan and kept them safe and happy when he knew for sure that something wasn't right in the world. He was a studious son/grandson, who was always trying to get his hands on new books and new things to learn so he could take in as much information as possible. Above all else, he was kind, he cared for the family, and he had a sense of responsibility above what most people could expect from a child.

That Guy

That Guy was a renowned musician. He toured through Elsweyr, Cyrodil, High Rock, Hammerfell, and Skyrim bringing wonderful music to people in the midst of a continent-wide war. Even though he was young for most bard's of his notoriety, he was the life of the party wherever he went. He could lighten up a funeral if he tried, and he did try at least once. As a student at the bard's college he was a savant, a prodigy, skilled enough in the bardic arts that he managed to "woo" his fellow students and at least one instructor. What is presumed to be the father of many, husband of none, That Guy knows how to work it. Even if nobody could get to the man beneath the smile.

Augurous Dovah-Fane

Budding diplomat who's made a splash in at least three different throne rooms across southern Tamriel, Augurous is caring above all else. If not always wise, and sometimes a bit impulsive, he is a loving man who cares deeply for his new family and the people he travels with. Studious once again (a common theme among all his past selves), he's working hard to find himself and who he truly is, learning from every walk of life that travels alongside him--and if I do say so myself, quite the promising record of leadership when those situations have arisen. He is devoted, he walked through hell and back for the woman he loves (literally, but it's up for debate whether or not it is romantic as it seems), and he'd put himself to the sword if it meant saving those around him.

20. Choose one song that perfectly describes their relationship?

This just seems like a perfect song for the two of them, between the way they met being at such a dark point in both of their lives, to the view of them both dancing in Elseweyr together. The thought of both of them being so afraid to lose the other, but continuing on in spite of everything in the world. I just think it's nice.

31. Can they sit side by side without touching the other or are they handsy? (lacing fingers, touching knees, etc.)

Here's the thing. Augurous used to be a bard, you'd expect him to be the handsy one. But I think Syla's the one who can't get enough of being close to him. Augurous always has her on his mind, yes, but he can be a few feet away from her without needing that touch. I think Syla, with everybody she has lost and how many times she has seen Augurous almost die, I think Syla needs to be touching him as often as possible. She's so afraid of losing him, she doesn't want even a moment to pass where she can't be beside him.

42. What's their favorite type of weather to enjoy together? (getting snowed in together, watching thunderstorms, etc.)

While Augurous still loves rain and thunderstorms, all things considered, I think being in that kind of weather would make Syla worry for him. A sunny day is probably the best for the two of them, sitting together wherever they may be and just enjoying nature. Augurous enjoys the wind, Syla enjoys the sound of nature, and when all the creatures of Kyne, Kenarthi, Y'ffre whatever are all singing she just feels so at home and having Augurous beside her in those moments would make it all the more special.

🍑: What sort of traits does your OC look for in a Significant Other?

Augurous, as far as a genuine romantic connection goes, Augurous doesn’t have a lot of experience. If it is about courting, wooing somebody, or trying to get them to sleep with him, he’s got plenty of experience as well as this deep seated knowledge that is his time at the Bard’s College coming through the amnesia. So, he wouldn’t even really know what he is looking for in a Significant Other, though he does know he thinks of Syla in such a way that he didn’t even realize it was real love until probably one of the first few times he watched her almost die.

In short, Syla. For a bit of a longer answer, a devotion equal to what he gives and a willingness to realize he is not who he was in the past, understanding that his history will probably come back to bite him in the ass but not letting that get in the way of their shared feelings.
