Griffin is great — it’s incredible how all these ridiculous story threads are coming back and being so important; the final Fantasy Costco scene really stood out — but Travis, oh man, Travis. His characterisation is so good. I got chills at the end of ep 58 when Magnus lay out his gear and started walking for the voidfish’s chambers.

I don’t think I can do bands, per se! Sorry! I don’t really follow mainstream music — it’s not hipsterism, I just don’t really know how. It’s an accident if I ever hear a new release.

It’ll become obvious pretty quickly how I find most of my music instead. In no particular order:

Aviators. An indie artist, who got his big break in the My Little Pony fandom. I’m slightly surprised he made the list — I don’t like much of his work, proportionally, but he produces a lot and has made a good few songs I love, like Heroes (acoustic version), Mirrors, and One Heath’s Warming Eve.

Jeff Williams & Casey Lee Williams. The composer and main singer behind RWBY's soundtrack. They have a lot of great fight anthems (I May Fall), but then there’s also the softer tracks. Gold has a lovely jangle that always makes me think of magical girl intros.

Jón Hallur. Primary soundtrack artist for EVE Online. I don’t play the game, but it includes some of my favourite electronic/ambient pieces, like Below the Asteroids and Red Glowing Dust.

totalspiffage. Another fandom artist, this time from Homestuck. 8r8k and Call For Me (Calliope) scratch particular itches for me, and I could listen to her cover of Florence + the Machine’s Cosmic Love for hours.

Yuki Kajiura. The soundtrack behind the hauntingly atmospheric Puella Magi Madoka Magica (as well as many other anime I’ve watched over the years, like Mai-HiME and .hack//Sign). Examples include Hepatica (KOS-MOS), the most subdued video game boss music I’ve ever heard; and… honestly, just the entire PMMM soundtrack.
