Arlindo Maunde was born in Inhambane Province, Mozambique where he began his painting career. He was inspired at a young age by Mozambique's most celebrated artist Malangatana Ngwenha. Arlindo Maunde is a storyteller who uses his art to tell simple stories about life in Africa and to capture the continent's undeniable beauty and boundless energy. He is a self-taught Mozambican artist known for his energetic portraits and wildlife paintings. Arlindo has experimented with a variety of media and techniques, but oil and acrylic on canvas remain the artist's favourites to this day. Arlindo has taken part in several group shows, artist residencies, and workshops. His works have been purchased by collectors in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, and other countries.
