Is your Ethan one to “hate” his birthday or he just doesn’t care/remember it?
How do you HC his parents used to celebrate his birthday pre and post Louise leaving?
When he was dating someone, did they do something for him on that day? What about his friends from med school?
Now that he’s with MC, does he care more about it? What do they normally do on that day?
What would he choose as his best birthday/gift?
Hi there!
In my world, Ethan doesn't hate his birthday, but he doesn't like to make a big deal about it either. Since he's such a private guy, he prefers to keep any celebrations within his close circle of friends and family.
Before Louise left, they celebrated as a family. Louise would decorate, buy a fun cake, and there would be a few gifts to open. She also planned a couple birthday parties where she invited some of his neighborhood friends over.
After Louise left, I think Alan would try to make it special by taking the day off work. They would go out to eat and Ethan would get to pick the restaurant. After, they'd go somewhere fun like an arcade, the movies, or a hockey game. Then they would come home for ice cream and cake (that Alan made himself). One of Ethan's best birthday adventures was when he convinced Alan to take him to the Providence Athenæum.📕📖📗📖📘📖📙
In my HC, before Harper, Ethan was more of a casual dater. He wouldn't have mentioned anything about his birthday because having someone make a fuss would seem like a step toward something more committed. He'd be down for drinks and a hook-up but nothing more than that.
In med school, Tobias overheard Alan calling to wish him a happy birthday. That weekend Tobias made sure they hit the bars and celebrated hard.🍻🥴🍻 It became a tradition until their fallout.
There were a couple birthdays while dating Harper on/off. She kept the celebration more private. A sophisticated dinner and dessert at a fancy restaurant, followed by a nightcap, and well you know...
Naveen remembers each year too. He always treats Ethan to a nice lunch, just the two of them.
With Sawyer, Ethan does look forward to his birthday because he knows they will have some quality time together. Sawyer will usually plan something special. Sometimes it's a weekend away or a daytime excursion like a hike and picnic.🥾🧺 Sometimes it's just a private birthday party where she'll decorate the house, order his favorite meal, and celebrate with gifts, cake, and of course, lots of birthday sex! 🎂🍑🍒🍆🥳
As for best gift...each year Sawyer gives him a suggestive birthday card that makes him laugh and gets him excited for the afterparty. But folded up in the card is always a very touching handwritten love letter that almost always makes him tear up. He treasures those and keeps every one.💌💌💌

Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 To A Very Talented & Outstanding Actress Of Acting
Born On March 20th, 1968
She was born in Conyers, Georgia, the daughter of Marguerite "Dee Dee" (née Catledge), a homemaker, and Charles Edwin Hunter, a part-time sporting goods company representative and farmer with a 250 acre farm. She is the youngest of six children. Her parents encouraged her talent at an early age, and her first acting part was as Helen Keller in a fifth-grade play. She is unable to hear with her left ear due to a childhood case of the mumps. The condition sometimes leads to complications at work, and some movie scenes have to be altered from the script for her to use her right ear. She is irreligious. She began acting at Rockdale County High School in the early 1970s, performing in local productions of Oklahoma, Man of La Mancha, and Fiddler on the Roof. She earned a degree in drama from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and for a while performed in the theater scene there, playing ingenue roles at City Theater, then named the City Players.
She is an American actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as Ada McGrath in the 1993 drama film The Piano. She earned three additional Academy Award nominations for Broadcast News (1987), The Firm (1993), and Thirteen (2003). She won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for the television films Roe vs. Wade (1989) and The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom (1993). She also starred in the TNT drama series Saving Grace (2007–2010).
Her other film roles include Raising Arizona (1987), Home for the Holidays (1995), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), The Incredibles (2004), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and The Big Sick (2017), the latter of which earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.
She made her film debut in the 1981 slasher movie The Burning. After moving to Los Angeles in 1982, She appeared in TV movies before being cast in a supporting role in 1984's Swing Shift. That year, she had her first collaboration with the writing-directing-producing team of brothers Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, in Blood Simple, making an uncredited appearance as a voice on an answering-machine recording. More film and television work followed until 1987, when she earned a starring role in the Coens' Raising Arizona and was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in Broadcast News, after which She became a critically acclaimed star.
Please Wish This Outstanding Actress Of The South A Very Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊

I don't know if I'm late but I wanted to give you this as a gift for your birthday ❤️
Happy birthday, dearest Bree! 🥳❤️
Thank you for being such a beautiful presence in this fandom. When I was still new here, I would go through your masterlist and I would read your work one by one whenever I'm free. And I'm just simply im awe with how you write Ethan and Lilac. The Regency AU still has me on a chokehold. You are such an amazing writer and a wonderful person.
I hope you enjoyed your day! 😊

Aye,
You have me super emo at work, my dear. Thank you so much for this heartfelt message. It means a lot that you took the time to read through the monster of a masterlist lol. And also, thank you so much for your compliment on the 1800 AU. That thing is so special to me and I've been meaning to revisit it.
AND THAT BEAUTIFUL MANIP!!!! Gosh, you are so talented!! It legit looks like a picture they took. HC that it's the badass dynamic duo author picture they took for the book they co-wrote together! Thank you for this!
