{Agatha turns to speak directly to Niamh, and before I know it, Simon’s grabbing me by the hand and pulling me into the dim corridor outside my quarters.

“Simon, what—“

“Shhhh,” he says, and uses my body to gently push the door closed.

“We’re not supposed to be alone,” I whisper, “not now that we’re officially in courtship!”

“I don’t care,” he breathes. His finger hooks beneath my chin and I look down at him as he looks up. “Besides, it’s a stupid rule. What am I going to do now that I haven’t already done? We’ve been alone plenty, it’s not like we haven’t—“

“Shut your mouth! Someone might hear, we’re in the hallway! If my parents find out—“

He rubs our noses together. “Then tell me to stop, and we’ll go back in there with the girls.”

I sigh. “You well know that I won’t do that.”

Simon smirks and tilts his mouth towards mine.
