Lumity In The Human Realm
Hello I’ve been thinking about Lumity and my favorite thing about lumity is the idea of Amity dealing with human world stuff I dunno why I just really like it so I’m gonna talk about it.
Amity takes forever to get used to the general lack of magic in the human realm. She has mixed feelings about it because there’s a lot of things that make the boiling isles wonderful and beautiful that she had taken for granted that she misses a lot when she’s in the human realm with Luz but there’s another part of her that recognizes magic as part of her past with her life before Luz and her relationship with her parents and the fact that she always had to be amazing at it even when she wasn’t and somehow not having it at all is incredibly freeing. Amity sits with Luz under the stars a couple nights into their visit into the human realm and sighs wistfully, telling Luz she thinks she could get used to this. Luz doesn’t really get it, the boiling isles is everything she’s ever wanted and coming home is kind of bittersweet because for most of her life this was where she belonged even when she didn’t but now she belongs somewhere completely different and being home is just a reminder that she isn’t where she wants to be. But still, something about the fact that Amity is the one sitting next to her makes her feel like maybe, just maybe, she’s closer to where she belongs than she thought. Luz takes Amity to her regular human high school and Amity is actually terrible at it. Everything is so different from the classes at hexside and so foreign to her that she can’t understand it at all, even with studying. Luz gets a chance to be the (only slightly) smarter one in the relationship. She actually kind of hates it. They both agree that human schools are much better left avoided.
Amity repeatedly waves her hand in the air in a circle in subconscious attempts to cast magic that inevitably fail. She gets really embarrassed when Luz laughs every time but then Luz tells her it’s adorable and oh wow now her face is insanely red for completely different reasons.
Luz convinces Amity not to do anything to hide her ears, instead she puts on some of those dumb looking pointy plastic elf ears or whatever and they just go everywhere matching. Amity feels like she should probably feel embarrassed but seeing Luz in any approximation of witch’s ears makes her imagine what her life would have been like if Luz was always there on the boiling isles and the fantasies of having had Luz by her side for that long immediately distract her from any other feeling. Luz has to wave her hand in front of Amity’s face like ten times.
The food in the boiling isles is actually much different from the food in the human realm so one night Luz gets super excited as she lays out a full spread of the “best” human cuisine. Some of it is actual real homemade stuff and some of it is the worst fast food you’ve ever seen, all so Amity can get the true “experience.” Amity almost doesn’t believe Luz that this stuff isn’t literal poison but one pouty expression from Luz has her trying whatever the other girl gives her. Luz at least had a good time, and Amity enjoyed some of the food and all of the smiles Luz gave her.
The flora of the human realm is also drastically different from that in the boiling isles and, after Luz finally convinces Amity that “the flower’s aren’t going to try to eat us I promise” she finds herself completely captivated by them. Luz picks out an absalon tulip (pretty little brown flower) and puts it in Amity’s hair and Amity leaves it in there for as long as physically possible. (sidenote I don’t think Luz would know flower symbolism but a tulip represents perfect love which is great because Luz thinks Amity is perfect and she loves her)

Tulip Divisions
Hello everybody!
The spring has come and it’s time for different flowers to bloom. Today we’re going to learn a bit more about our beloved flowers tulips.
Tulips come in great varieties, therefore it was decided to divide them in different classes. Divisions are based on common characteristic such as bloom time, bloom shape, visual appearance, plant size and its origin.
There’re 15 divisions and here we go.
Div. 1: Single Early tulips
These tulips have that classic tulip look: a single cup-shaped flower. Tulips in this division are rather short (15 to 45 cm), but come in a wide range of colors and often have a pleasant fragrance.
Bloom time: early to mid spring season.
Let’s have a look at the following examples.
Tumblr media
Tulipa Candy Prince
Tumblr media
Tulipa Apricot Beauty
Tumblr media
Tulipa Red Revival
Div. 2: Double Early tulips
These guys have bowl-shaped semi- or fully-double flowers somewhere looking like peonies. The tulips also have a wide range of colors ranging from pastel pink to dark red. Can grow 30-40 cm tall. Bloom time: mid spring season.
Tumblr media
Tulipa Palmyra
Tumblr media
Tulipa Foxy Foxtrot
Tumblr media
Tulipa Peach Blossom
Div. 3: Triumph tulips
Triumph tulips are similar to their single early brothers: both have single cup-shaped flowers. What’s different here? Triumph tulips have the widest range of colors, proudly stand 40-60 cm tall and bloom mid to late spring season.
Tumblr media
Tulipa Suncatcher
Tumblr media
Tulipa Paul Scherer
Tumblr media
Tulipa Happy Generation
Div. 4: Darwin hybrid tulips
Darwins are the result of hybridization of fosteriana tulips and single late tulips. That’s why they have huge single oval-shaped flowers with strong stems. The giants grow 50-70 cm tall. Bloom time: mid to late spring season.
Tumblr media
Tulipa Hakuun
Tumblr media
Tulipa Mystic van Eijk
Tumblr media
Tulipa Red Impression
Div. 5: Single Late tulips
The real big brothers among all tulips, the true “basketball players”: they grow 45-80 cm tall. Single late tulips have an oval or goblet shape and can be single or multi-flowered. Bloom time: late spring season.
Tumblr media
Tulipa Flaming Club (multi-flowered)
Tumblr media
Tulipa Yosemite
Tumblr media
Tulipa Big Smile
Div. 6: Lily-flowered tulips
These tulips have elegant single flowers. You can’t mistake this signature narrow waist of lily-flowering tulips. Petals arch outwards and have pointed tips. The plants can grow 40-60 cm tall. Bloom season: mid to late spring season.
Tumblr media
Tulipa Youkihi
Tumblr media
Tulipa White Triumphator
Tumblr media
Tulipa West Point
Div. 7:  Fringed tulips
Also known as crispa tulip. They have cup or goblet-shaped flowers, petals end with spiked or crystal-like fringes. Can have simple or semi- or fully-double flowers. Most of them grow 45-60 cm tall. Bloom time: mid to late spring season.
Note that this type may fall into other divisions as well (e.g. div. Double Late).
Tumblr media
Tulipa Cummins
Tumblr media
Tulipa Vaya con Dios
Tumblr media
Tulipa Cool Crystal
Div. 8:  Viridiflora tulips
“Viridis” means green in Latin. As you might guess this type of tulips  have single cup-shaped flowers streaked with green. Viridiflora tulips produce long-lasting flowers so you can enjoy them for up to 3 weeks. They are of variable height, usually 40-50 cm tall. Bloom time: late spring season.
Note that this type may fall into other divisions as well (e.g. div. Lily-flowered).
Tumblr media
Tulipa Green Star (div. Lily-flowered)
Tumblr media
Tulipa Virichic
Tumblr media
Tulipa Hollywood Star
Div. 9: Rembrandt tulips
These unusual tulips are bred to resemble Old Dutch tulips of the Tulip mania. Originally this unique pattern was the result of a virus spread by aphids. Today real “broken tulips” are banned from commerce and no longer available. Tulips you can find in the market are virus-free bulbs. Bloom time and plant size are cultivar specific.
Note that this type may fall into other divisions as well (e.g. div. Single Late)
Tumblr media
Sheet from a Tulip Book by Jacob Marrel (1640)
Tumblr media
Stilleven met bloemen by Hans Bollongier (1639)
Tumblr media
Flora by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijnm (1634)
Tumblr media
Clockwise from top left: Tulipa Silver Standard (div. Single Early), Tulipa Black and White (div. Single Late), Tulipa Wonder Club (div. Single Late, multiflowered), Tulipa Absalon (div. Rembrandt)

1 Minggu Berharga
Assalamualaikum
Hej alle! Hvordan går det med jer alle? Håber I har det godt.
Jadiiii kali ini aku mau cerita tentang Mini Exchange ku. Apa tuh?
My mini exchange started on 14 January 2017.
Dan waktu itu ada salju, so omg it was really nice and beautiful there.
So in total, presentasi 5x dalam 1 minggu.”
Mantab ga tuh?
Akhirnya aku setuju-setuju aja deh presentasi 5x ehehehe (kapan lagi lol).
I’m feeling proud of myself lol.
Iya. S e t a h u n.
Pokoknya banyak deh.
By the way, I really like my mini host family here. Terutama sama host sister ku. Awalnya kita kayak awkward gitu…. Tapi makin kesini makin deket akk:’) Kita main just dance bareng, terus aku juga ngajari mereka Tari Jejer lol. Sayang banget deh. Bahkan waktu aku mau balik ke Copenhagen, aku sampe sedih banget bakal ninggalin mereka. :(
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We really hope we had more time in Silkeborg, especially with our mini host family.
Yaudah deh segitu dulu aja ya geng. Hej hej !

U.S. Navy destroyer Gravely conducts PASSEX with Royal Danish Navy
The U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) and Royal Danish navy Absalon-class command and support ship HMDS Absalon (L 16) conducted a passing exercise (PASSEX) in the Arctic waters off the coast of Greenland, Aug 16, according to Chief Petty Officer Brian Finney.
According to a statement released by the Commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet, PASSEXs are unit exercises requiring cooperation, communication and interoperability between two or more navies, testing advanced ship maneuvering and tactics. It affords the opportunity to improve crews’ knowledge and demonstrate shared tactics.
“This exercise was a unique opportunity for Gravely to conduct training with the Danish navy and to demonstrate interoperability in strategically important waters,” said Cmdr. Michael O’Reilly, commanding officer of Gravely. “As our navies share many common tactics, techniques and procedures, it was great to see how quickly we were able to establish communications and exercise our combined warfighting and seamanship skills.”
The PASSEX started with a rendezvous of the ships, followed by the landing of Absalon’s MH-60R helicopter on the flight deck of the Gravely. The ships conducted four, pre-planned close maneuvers allowing the ships to safely come within 250 yards. The operations allowed Gravely Sailors to draw from the wealth of experience and knowledge our ally has in northern latitude operations, and as highly skilled, technologically advanced, militarily interoperable neighbors.
“Events like today’s passing exercise not only deepen the relationship between our two countries but also strengthen our maritime security capabilities in the North Atlantic,” said O’Reilly.
USS Gravely’s operations in the Arctic are a step toward further enhancing our Navy’s proficiencies operating in Arctic climates. GRAVELY is underway to conduct Arctic operations as part of an 8-month deployment.

U.S. Navy destroyer Gravely conducts PASSEX with Royal Danish Navy
The U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) and Royal Danish navy Absalon-class command and support ship HMDS Absalon (L 16) conducted a passing exercise (PASSEX) in the Arctic waters off the coast of Greenland, Aug 16, according to Chief Petty Officer Brian Finney.
