Kurt was described as a happy and excitable child, who also exhibited sensitivity and care. His talent as an artist was evident from an early age, as he would draw his favorite characters from films and cartoons, such as the Creature from the Black Lagoon and Donald Duck, in his bedroom. He was encouraged by his grandmother, Iris Cobain who was a professional artist.
Cobain's family had a musical background, and he developed an interest in music early and began singing at the age of two. At age four, he started playing the piano and singing, writing a song about a trip to a park. He listened to artists including Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), and, from a young age, would sing songs including Arlo Guthrie's "Motorcycle Song", the Beatles' "Hey Jude", Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun", and the theme song to the Monkees television show.
On his 14th birthday Kurt's uncle offered him either a bike or a used guitar; Kurt chose the guitar. It was an electric guitar from Sears and he took guitar lessons long enough to learn AC/DC's "Back in Black".
Upon forming what would be Nirvana, he was playing a Fender Champ amplifier and a righthanded Univox Hi-Flier guitar that he flipped over and strung for lefthanded playing.
Kurt Donald Cobain died April 5, 1994 at the age of 27. ~He is highly recognized as one of the most influential alternative rock musicians.

THE HIDDEN CITY OF SEATLE, and the destruction of its NIRVANA
Washington State has always been a mystery to me. In my imagination, it was something so foreign as someone lost in the forest before freezing to death. It conjured up in my psychic absurdity. It was how I felt about the place in my teenage years in Canada. But Seattle was only a name in a State with lots of crazy gringos running around with no distinct character I could sum up, like a faceless person you only heard about.

Marcus Sakey somehow grounded out a spark. However, it was a TV detective series, THE KILLING, that gave me a sense of Seattle. It was an excellent series, sometimes a little bit dragged out, but good and tense which kept you wondering all the time with an unsuspecting denouement. Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994) was an American musician who was the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter of the rock band Nirvana. Through his angst-fueled songwriting and anti-establishment persona, Cobain's compositions widened the thematic conventions of mainstream rock. He was heralded as a spokesman of Generation X and is highly recognized as one of the most influential alternative rock musicians.

Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard in 1987 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene that later became known as grunge. After signing with DGC Records, Nirvana found commercial success with the single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their critically acclaimed second album Nevermind (1991). Although Cobain was hailed as the voice of his generation following Nirvana's sudden success, he resented this, believing his message and artistic vision had been misinterpreted by the public. In addition to "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Cobain wrote many other hit songs for Nirvana, including "Come as You Are", "Lithium", "In Bloom", "Something in the Way", "Heart-Shaped Box", "All Apologies", "About a Girl", "Aneurysm",[1] and "You Know You're Right".

During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with a heroin addiction and chronic health problems such as depression. He also struggled with the personal and professional pressures of fame, and he had a tumultuous relationship with his wife, fellow musician Courtney Love. In March 1994, Cobain overdosed on a combination of champagne and Rohypnol, and he subsequently entered an intervention and underwent a detox program. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home at the age of 27; police concluded he had died on April 5 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

Cobain was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl, in their first year of eligibility in 2014. Rolling Stone included Cobain in its lists of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, 100 Greatest Guitarists, and 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. He was ranked 7th by MTV in the "22 Greatest Voices in Music". In 2006, he was placed 20th by Hit Parader on their list of the "100 Greatest Metal Singers of All Time".

Nirvana
Nirvana: Fue una banda de Grunge Estadounidense, liderada por Kurt Cobain el cual era guitarrista y vocalista, Dave Grohl baterista y Krist Novoselic en el bajo. Esta banda marcó profundamente los años 90s y como ya mencioné anteriormente, fue una banda de Grunge, este es género um del rock y tiene muchas influencias, principalmente del Punk. Nirvana ha sido sin duda alguna la banda más influyente del Grunge, ya que prácticamente fueron los que popularizaron y explotaron dieron a conocer dicho género.
Esta banda a lo largo de los años sufrió muchas variaciones como por ejemplo no siempre tuvieron al mismo baterista, el primero fue Aaron Burckhard, el cual casi nadie conoce ya que no grabó ningún álbum con ellos, pero sí varios demos y duró solo un año. Dave Foster tampoco tuvo mucha influencia en la banda y también solo duró un año. después llegaría Dan Peters, con el cual grabaron la canción Sliver del álbum recopilatorio Incesticide. Después nada más y nada menos que Chad Channing, con el cual grabaron el álbum Bleach pero este dejaría la banda para darle paso a Dave Grohl, el cual fue el baterista que más duró de Nirvana, desde 1990 hasta 1994, con este grabaron Todo el Nevermind, In Utero y parte del Incesticide.

On 25 May 1986, 19-year-old Kurt Cobain was booked for trespassing after he was found on the roof of an abandoned building in his hometown of Aberdeen, WA.
Cobain was arrested a year earlier for spraypainting “Ain’t got no whatchamacallit” on the side of a building in his hometown of Aberdeen, WA (others have claimed that he had painted “God is Gay” - a line from 1991′s song “Stay Away,” but the police report only cites the “whatchamacallit” tag).
“I was so antisocial that I was almost insane,” Cobain told an interviewer about that time. “I felt so different and so crazy that people just left me alone. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they had voted me ‘Most Likely To Kill Everyone At A High School Dance.’”
In less than a year, Cobain would form Nirvana with his high school friend Krist Novoselic and drummer Aaron Aaron Burckhard.

Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – April 5, 1994) was an American singer, songwriter, and musician, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the rock band Nirvana. Cobain is remembered as one of the most iconic and influential rock musicians in the history of alternative music.
Born in Aberdeen, Washington, Cobain formed the band Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard in 1987 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene which later became known as grunge.
