We have finally finished this project, and thus, The World's Worst Dating Sim is finally DONE! Just in time for April Fools Day. Now, with our six new contestants, choose, uhh... who's dateable? Or not dateable? This last batch was determined almost entirely by People Telling Us Who To Add, contains multiple AUs, and is... hmm. "Unconventional" may be a good term? Half of these are probably undateable but you can still shoot your shot.
As previously, it can be a platonic date if you want, you just can't be neutral. Deadlander Lambda belongs to @cordycepsbian and has been moved into our studio for duration of this poll. Profiles below the cut.
(we're linking the first poll here)
Deadlander Lambda - Maybe - Deadlander - Good question - At least a little bit
This, uhh...
...is this safe? We don't think this is safe. ..."Already had kids before"? What do you mean it's a parent?
...well, we can't get it out of the studio, so it's an option now? We guess? This... really doesn't seem like a good idea.
Rogu - He/him - Ant drone - Very rude to ask a gentleman that, don't you think? - I wouldn't worry about that.
A charming mystery from somewhere only described as "a faraway land", though he wasn't quite scheduled in this lineup, we think we can make an exception. This silver-tongued bug seems to be able to say just what's needed to get under your skin... and from the look of it, he's angling to take you somewhere private.
...come to think of it, haven't we seen that face before? On a poster, maybe? Well, it's not a surprise he's been modelling for things, he's certainly got a pretty enough face for it, but why do we feel... nervous, all of a sudden?
Carmina - She/(scribbled in)it - (illegible) - (illegible) - (illegible)(scribbled out with "No longer relevant" written in its place)
...where is she? She was meant to show up hours ago. What on earth could have held her up this long?
Pebbles - He/him - Moth ("iterator") - Juvenile (estimated) - Unclear
Right out of surgery, this one. While we're not sure if it's entirely responsible to include this one, and we certainly don't speak whatever language he's speaking... he's cute, isn't he? And looking for a home? Well, maybe if you're the sort of person who might want to rescue a domestic moth in a bad situation...
Wereweevil Vi - It/its (wereweevil form) - Wereweevil - 19 - Aro
Pre-existing hangups mean that you can only date this one in wereweevil form. Good luck.
Kina - She/her - Mantis (big) - Haven't asked - Also haven't asked
Well, we assume that you can do less lethal than the bandit who people mostly know thanks to her former job as a corpse disposal unit, but some people might be into that sort of thing, honestly. Are you, perchance, also a mantis?

You know what the worst part about making this Fable smp theory video is?
If I really need something confirmed, I'll try to go to the discord Lore q&a channel... but I don't like doing that, cause talking in the discord makes me anxious in a - I'm socially awkward and asking questions to actual cast members is low-key intimidating cause I think they're really cool and that makes me more anxious - kinda way...
But I have to do it if I want to get my facts straight...

From the bestiary entry for the mantidfly :
"To prevent being confused with them, Wasps have a unique salute while scouting the Far Grasslands."
I love that the wasps themselves get confused by mantidflies to the point they had to come up with a secret salute even though mantidflies have BIG FUCKIN’ CLAWS FOR HANDS that should make it obvious that they’re not part of their hive family

For the ask game, 1, 4, and 9!
that makes me smile
I'm ridiculously fond of the style in "A Wise Pair of Fools", especially the bits where the narrators talk directly to the reader.
Like Faith's astonishment at her listener's ignorance.
But I won’t bore you with that story again— You don’t know that one either? Where have you been hiding yourself?
And Alistair's surly yet genial old-married-man routine.
That woman! It’s just like her! She thinks I have nothing better to do than sit around all day and gossip about our courtship! Where are you going? I never said I wouldn’t tell the story! Honestly, does no one have brains these days? Sit down!
4. with dialogue i’m proud of
A horrifying revelation is dawning on me--I'm not sure I write much good dialogue. I had always considered it one of my strengths, but most of my favorite dialogue scenes are my favorite because of the circumstances, not just the words spoken, and they often involve one character dominating the conversation rather than a good back-and-forth between two strong characters.
One of the few exceptions is "Fable". David and Elowen have some conversations where they both hold their own.
He felt like he’d been hit in the face with a plank. “Have you…given up?” She answered with the hint of a smile. “Merely acknowledging that if stubbornness were a weapon, you could defeat both armies single-handedly.” He relaxed into a laugh. “I have a strange resistance to foolhardy plans.” “So says the greatest fool in two worlds.” That stung a bit. His reply was sharp. “Forgive me if I don’t believe we should save Fable by dragging her into two wars.” She looked into her tea. “Forgive me, majesty. I misspoke.” She lifted her head, and met his eyes with a fire in her that he hadn’t seen since she was a seventeen-year-old sitting in his bushes. “You are a fool and a coward.” “Have we switched to the ‘insult the king until he complies’ strategy? I’ll admit that’s new.” Her eyes flashed. “I come to you on my knees, day after day, begging you to save your people, and you refuse to stir from your comfortable home.  You prefer to live as another man’s slave than as king of a free people.”
9. with characters i love
My Arateph stories are the other main source of good dialogue scenes, because I have several decently-developed characters.
Because I can, and because I've never mentioned this story before, I'll share one of my favorite Tanza and Auren conversations from my first attempt at writing a sequel to "Out of the Tomb", where Tanza is accompanying Auren to a (human) government event held at a historic tephan palace.
As Auren led Tanza into the palace, her ridiculously high-heeled shoes shot pain through her legs and brought her back to reality. The noise, the heat—the false, conniving people. All things that had never entered her childhood daydreams of fairy tale grandeur, but remained inescapable parts of Coalition political functions. Tanza gritted her teeth and growled through a false smile, “Remind me why I come to these things?” Auren smiled and patted her hand. “Because you care about my emotional well-being.” He smiled and nodded at a human Coalition representative, the automatic gesture of a born-and-raised prince. Tanza tried to imitate it, but the expression hung on her like a crude paper mask, so she returned to her usual strategy of avoiding eye contact. As they crossed the palace threshold and escaped the worst of the crowd, Tanza said, “I have a thousand other things I could be doing. Instead, I let you convince me to stuff myself into a dress I can barely breathe in and wear shoes designed to break my neck so I can smile to cameras and chat nicely with people who I’d rather shove into a deathtail nest.” “You always enjoy yourself in the end.” “I like the food,” Tanza grumbled. “If it weren’t for the food, you wouldn’t get me within shouting distance of this place.”

For pride month, I am curious, how was it writing a story with so many queer characters? Was there any interesting things that happened when you were writing? Or challenges? Sorry if this is a weird question, I was just curious.
It's not weird at all! In fact, I love getting questions like this! ^_^
This may come as no surprise, but I tend to angle a lot of my relationships based off of character chemistry above gender. In fact, that's part of the reason there's so many queer characters, because of how their personalities mesh.
For example! So, when I began Can't Go Home Again I didn't intend for it to be longer than twelve chapters. When I decided to continue it, I started to plot and outline ahead. At that time I was intending to have a relationship between Fritz and Jeremy and between Natalie and Foxy. I'm not really sure what my thinking process was beyond that Fritz and Jeremy likely knew each other slightly longer?
However, once I started writing the characters, I realized that Fritz and Natalie clicked together better, as did Jeremy and Foxy. It still took a while to establish both, but I feel like the results are way better than if I had tried to stick with my initial plan.
Other than that, I find that there's not that much difference between writing straight and queer couples. Occasionally the topic comes up- recently we saw a character in Home who was questioning their sexuality- but usually it's with the characters themselves that the couples differentiate.
And that's also because I try to avoid certain negative tropes. Not to say those tropes aren't bad, but I prefer to not have them in my stories.
The biggest challenge though is when you have a character who you're trying to pair up and have like five options and still can't figure out who would be the best match. XD Waking nightmare.
