Glock 21 Gen 5 and GLOCK 22 Gen 4
The glock 21 gen 5 can remember the old “Police Special” chambered for 38, well the Glock 22 Gen 4 has become the modern equivalent – albeit in semi auto form not revolver. Over 60% of law enforcement officers in the USA carry Glock as well as countless other military and security industry professionals globally. The 40 S&W caliber closes the gap between the heavy 45 Auto calibers and the 9 x 19mm  service calibers. GLOCK was the first manufacturer to make the advantages of this balanced caliber accessible to law enforcement agencies. By applying the Gen 4 technology with the Modular back strap design and the reversible magazine catch to this pistol model the user may instantly customize its grip.
Glock 22 Gen 4  Rough Textured Frame Surface
This more aggressive, non-slip surface provides a more secure grip and better traction. For quite a while, some Glock owners had been getting custom texturing on their pistols to get what is now standard on Gen4 models
Glock 22 Gen 4  Replaceable Backstraps
The Glock 22 Gen 4 has  two insert options, medium and large or you can leave the pistol as is, in small or what Glock refer to as short frame configuration.
Glock 22 Gen 4  Magazine Release Catch
The enlarged mag release catch is now easily reversible to either the left or right side.
Glock 22 Gen 4  Magazine
The Glock 22 Gen4  Magazine now features a pair of notches that will allow positive operation with all types of existing mag catches.
Glock 22 Gen 4  Recoil Spring
The Glock G22 Gen 4  has a dual recoil-spring system that features a progressive spring rate reducing felt perceived recoil.
Calibre – 40 S&W
Mag Capacity -15. optional 16/22
Weight Unloaded -725g
Barrel length – 114mm
Size (LxWxH) – 202x32x139
The GLOCK 22 - G22 .40 Caliber Safe-Action Pistol features lightweight and compact design and a safe-action system.

Glock 21 Gen4 .45 ACP Pistol | Gun Review
The .45 ACP round has been experiencing a bit of a resurgence in popularity. Honestly, it is as much a move away from the .40 caliber, since the 9mm is also regaining a strong following. Improvements in bullet construction have made all pistol rounds more effective, meaning the other factors are more critical—shot placement, complete reliability and putting the biggest bullet on target effectively. For those interested in capacity, the 9mm is fast becoming the first choice, but for those looking to move up to a bigger bullet, the .45 ACP is king.
With this move comes a need for a combat-reliable pistol. For many, that means a full-sized pistol with the capacity of a double-stack magazine. Many of these pistols, especially in the 1911 platform, are expensive and not always well suited to practical carry. The most reliable of these tend to be the most costly, putting them out of reach for many shooters. The best choice is often a polymer-based pistol, and that’s where the Glock 21 certainly delivers. Having carried my first Glock 21 on the streets some 15 years ago, I know this pistol well, and that same pistol rides in an officer’s holster to this day. Though there have been several opportunities for him to trade it in for a newer gun, he’s rebuffed them all with great fervor. Why? Because it works, and that officer knows his life depends on it doing just that.

Glock 21 Gen4 Legacy & Future
For many, the Glock 21 is the quintessential high-capacity, .45 caliber combat pistol. It has proven reliable, accurate and indestructible. With a 13+1 capacity, it provides easily accessible firepower in a proven caliber. It maintains the ergonomics and simple practicality of all the Glock pistols, and accessories, holsters and spare magazines are plentiful. For those making the move up from the G22, the transition is simple and easy. Available with factory night sights, the G22 is ready out of the box for duty, the range or anywhere else. And all of this is at about half the cost of many high-capacity .45s.
The G21’s only real issue was its size. It is a bit larger, and those with small hands often have some difficulty controlling it. The Short Frame model helped, but the changes featured in the Glock 21 Gen4 were really what made the G21 accessible to more shooters, providing other enhancements. Handling a new Glock 21 Gen4 pistol, I first noticed the textured finish on the grip. It is a nice modification to the rougher versions of before and fits in the hand well. It just feels less abrasive while remaining solid.
Next was the magazine catch, which is not only easily reversible but also much more intuitive. I found it easier to access without needing to shift the pistol in my grip. The catch also remains flush with the grip, eliminating many of the accidental release issues many after-market parts present. It is about as close to perfect as it gets for this platform. The finger grooves on the frontstrap are nicely contoured with matching checkering. The frame is cut high into the triggerguard, allowing for a solid grip.
More Glock 21 Gen4 Features
The real difference here is in the backstraps. Unlike many systems that require you to use one panel or another, the G21 Gen4 starts with no strap. In my “keep it simple” world, this is perfect. Leaving the grip as-is provides the shortest trigger reach on this frame size to date, with nothing to come loose. If you prefer the Gen3 feel, you can simply add the medium strap. (A thicker strap is available for those with even bigger hands.) With no grip panel attached, this pistol fit me just about perfectly, so I completed all the testing in this configuration.
To round out the Gen4 package, Glock added a dual recoil spring assembly. This tends to tame how recoil feels to the hand and can add significant life to the springs. The sights provided were the base versions, a simple white-dot front and the white-outlined U-notch rear. A rail is molded into the frame to accept tactical lights. Three magazines were provided along with the commensurate reloading tool, as well as the two backstraps and a tool designed to remove the grip-strap pin. Lastly, the finish on the slide is a bit less shiny and slippery. It is more of a dull gray, which lends itself to the pistol’s no-nonsense purpose.
Glock 21 Gen4 Performance
All of the G21 pistols that I’ve shot over the years are very accurate. Short of the G20, the G21 pistol is the most accurate standard-equipped Glock for me. Testing this pistol proved to be no exception. G21s are just plain accurate and some of the easiest double-stack .45s to shoot well. The shorter trigger reach only made this better for me. I accomplished the best accuracy with the Winchester Ranger 230-grain SXT rounds, with a group measuring 1.7 inches with a cluster of four shots within about an inch. The G21 put everything into around 2 inches at 25 yards. Having had pistols at twice the price display equal or less accuracy, that is pretty impressive.
Where this pistol truly shines is on the move and under stress. This gun just ran and ran without any issues. It remains one of the softest-shooting .45 pistols out there, making it much easier to maintain accuracy on the move. The shorter reach allowed for easier trigger control, and the textured finish really locks this pistol nicely in my hand. Fired both with and without gloves, it was impossible to lose my grip on the gun. It was easy to get a good, solid grip out of the holster. I tested the G21 Gen4 from both a tactical thigh rig as well as a similar holster in an OWB-type carry mode. The draw was smooth, and the sights came up quickly. For those in need of tritium, the pistol can be ordered from the factory with night sights.
For me at least, the most noticeable advancement in this generation is the magazine catch. It may not be the most technical, but it is the most used, at least in training. In the past, magazine swaps required a pronounced shift of the pistol in my hand to get a solid release of the magazine. The Gen4 catch makes this unnecessary. Granted, my hands are pretty big, but the catch could be easily reached without a shift, facilitating very fast magazine changes. It does so without adding any pronounced protrusion, making unintentional magazine releases unlikely. The maga-zines all dropped free easily, empty or not. Loading to capacity was a bit stiff on the last round, but time and repetition will likely loosen the mags up a bit.

Gunsite Dynamics
While attending the Glock 25th Anniversary Class at Gunsite, I was able to spend a day with a G21 Gen4 utilizing a medium grip panel. Rather than change someone else’s pistol, I shot it as is. It was flawless and very accurate, making it through one of the most round-intensive days of the Gunsite 250 class. I greatly anticipated the chance to set this pistol up for my needs and really put it through its paces. Of all the Glock platforms, this is the one most often used in my career as a police officer. The G21 has always been my favorite. Even without the shortened frame, it fit my hand better than any of the other pistols.
Shooting the Gen4 version was better. The shorter frame only enhanced my ability to shoot this pistol well. The new textured finish is just about right, providing a nice mix of aggressiveness without the commensurate abrasion. The standard trigger was predictable and controllable. The new magazine release is perfect for this gun. Having access without the need for a pronounced shift of the pistol in your hand is huge. It makes fast and positive magazine changes possible without losing sight of the threat. This was especially evident when shooting on the move. You could really just move, shoot, reload and continue as necessary, staying focused on the threat.
Having never been a big fan of the “new and improved,” my opinion is different in the case of the G21. Everything changed only enhances the capabilities of this fine pistol. If you are looking for a solid and dependable double-stack pistol in .45 ACP, make sure you take a look at this pistol—it is sure to impress! For more information, visit

5 Accessories Every Gun Owner Should Have
Whether you’re new to guns or a seasoned pro, there are certain accessories all gun owners should have. Whether it’s a way to carry your vintage 30-30 Winchester rifle or extra magazines for convenience at the range, there are plenty of firearms-related essentials to take your performance, convenience, and safety to the next level.
Tumblr media
Secure Trigger Lock for Safety One of the first essential accessories is a trigger lock for your gun. Whether you have kids, live in a shared house, or not, it’s a safety essential. It can help keep your gun safe by preventing accidental discharges and unwanted access. Whether your gun is loaded or not, a trigger lock provides extra security and peace of mind. The name can be a misnomer, as well, as many trigger locks, especially those designed for handguns, also thread through the barrel or magwell. If you travel with your firearms, it’s a good idea to always have a few ready for your guns. The Right Ammo Guns are fun to look at, but they’re practically useless without ammo. If you are going to the range or training for a competition, having enough ammo is vital—you don’t want your range trip cut short because you didn’t bring enough. You also need to have the right kind of ammo for your gun. An AR-15 chambered in 5.56 won’t take 7.62, while a shotgun that uses 12 gauge ammo won’t fire 20 gauge shells. Be sure you have enough to practice at the range, but don’t use everything you have at once. Stocking up on ammo is a good idea, especially if you’re a high-volume shooter. More Magazines What do you do with all the bulk ammo you stocked up on? Get more magazines, of course. You may have a mag or two that came with your gun, but you can never have enough. Keep magazines in your range bag and your gun safe, and make sure they are loaded. While loading mags can be therapeutic for some shooters, it can be a hassle at the range for most of us. Having extra loaded mags is convenient and can ensure you spend most of your range time practicing. A Carrying Case You may or may not get a case when you buy a gun. Regardless, you need some sort of case to transport your gun, whether it’s a pistol, shotgun, or rifle. If you are traveling to a competition, you will need a hardshell for air travel. If you are just going to the range, you probably only need a soft case or a gun sock, but there’s no harm in having an extra-sturdy hardshell case. Takedown Tools Being able to take down or field strip your gun wherever you are is essential. If there’s a malfunction, you need tools to fix it and keep firing. This could be a multitool and punches for a rifle or something more specialized for a pistol, like a 1911’s barrel bushing wrench. Regardless of what you need, make sure you have it when you head to the range or competition. About Cheaper Than Dirt! High-volume shooters turn to Cheaper Than Dirt! for the ammunition, firearms, range supplies, and accessories they need to optimize range performance. Cheaper Than Dirt published its first catalog in 1994, brimming with shooting and outdoor gear. THE HODGDON STORY
Success in the American tradition demands the qualities of motivation, determination, willingness to sacrifice, hard work, timing and a true element of luck. Even in our modern times of high taxation, escalating costs, and governmental regulation, it is still possible for the “common man” to become successful if he has a good idea and most or all of these qualities.
The Hodgdon Companies, as they exist today, are an example of this tradition. Until he began the surplus powder business, Bruce Hodgdon was a salesman for the Gas Service Company, traveling local territory selling gas appliances. From a few dollars borrowed on the cash value of his life insurance policy has evolved a manufacturing and distributing company that has customers in all 50 states and many foreign countries.
All his life Bruce Hodgdon was interested in shooting, hunting, and reloading. He custom-loaded ammunition for friends during World War II while he was in the Navy and after, while working full time as a salesman for the Gas Service Company. Somewhere Bruce had heard that the government burned huge stocks of surplus powder after WWI because of the lack of market for them, and he figured that the same would be true after hostilities ended in 1945.
Tumblr media
Even though he had no place to store gunpowder, and did not know if enough shooters would gamble to purchase unknown types of propellant, Bruce cut government red tape and soon owned 50,000 pounds of government surplus 4895. An old boxcar moved to a rented farm pasture served as the first magazine, the first one-inch ad placed in the American Rifleman, and Bruce was in business.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first 150-pound kegs of powder sold for $30.00 each plus freight! Early shipments also consisted of metal cans with hand-glued labels sent out in wooden boxes made from orange crates and sawed on a homemade circle saw by Bruce and his grade-school age boys, J. B. and Bob. A little later, the boys delivered shipments to the REA or the Merriam Frisco train terminal each morning on their way to high school. The trunk of the family 1940 Ford served as carrier for hundreds of thousands of pounds of powder during this time. Bruce’s Wife Amy served as bookkeeper and saleswoman. Very quickly mail order sales grew to include other reloading components, tools, and finally firearms and ammunition.
In 1952 Bruce resigned from the Gas Service Company and B. E. Hodgdon, Incorporated, was officially underway. J.B. and Bob entered the business full time after graduating from college in 1959 and 1961. After considerable expansion in the 1960s, it became apparent that splitting the wholesale firearm business from the nationwide powder business would save confusion among customers and facilitate bookkeeping. Hodgdon Powder Company came into being in 1966 as a result. Eventually, the wholesale firearms company was sold in 1984.
Tumblr media
If it were not for the efforts of a handful of men seeing that changes were made, shooters all over the country would now have much greater difficulty obtaining their powders. In 1963 and 1964, Bruce Hodgdon, Ted Curtis, Homer Clark of the Alcan Company, and Dave Wolfe of Wolfe Publishing Company, were successful in persuading the ICC – now the DOT – through exhaustive tests by the Bureau of Explosives to downgrade certain packages of smokeless powder to the much-easier-to-ship “4.1 – Flammable Solid” Classification. As a result, containers under 8 lbs. each and in approved packages of shipments weighing less than 100 net pounds can today be handled by any common carrier, including UPS and FedEx. Previous to this, all Smokeless powders were considered “Class B explosives” for shipping purposes, which is nearly as restrictive as the almost impossible task of transporting black powder.
After retlentless testing, Hodgdon Powder Company received approval for 1.4C shipping in 2014. Now, nearly all canisters up to eight pounds can be shipped under the 1.4c classification, making shipping much more efficient.
In 1967, the Hodgdon’s built what was then billed as “the world’s largest indoor shooting range,” an indoor structure allowing 44 shooters to share a 25 Yard range at the same time. This range and store is open to the public at 6201 Robinson, Overland Park, Kansas (www.thebullethole.com). Although this business was sold to outside parties in November 1982, we invite any of our nationwide customers to visit when in the Kansas City area.
Bruce Hodgdon passed away in 1997. Bruce was among other things an avid reloader, competitive rifle shooter, trap shooter, hunter, NRA Benefactor Member, and World War II Veteran. The industry honored Bruce for his contributions to the shooting sports in 1995/1996 with the Shooting Academy Award of Excellence. The responsibility of running the company then fell to his sons, J.B. and Bob Hodgdon, the two grade-school boys back in the late 1940’s, who worked hand in hand with their father to establish and grow this company.
Bruce’s oldest son, J.B. Hodgdon is still active in the business today and serves on the board and as Chairman Emeritus. He still remains passionate about shooting and hunting pursuits.
Bruce’s youngest son Robert Eltinge “Bob” Hodgdon went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 14, 2023. Up to his last year, Bob was still active in shooting and hunting activities with friends and family.
Today, Hodgdon smokeless propellants are developed and manufactured to meet the needs of every reloader. The powder that started Bruce Hodgdon’s business, H4895, is still produced and sold along with world-class powders available for just about any Rifle, Handgun, and Shotshell load.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Smokeless propellants are only half of the famous Hodgdon story. Muzzleloading shooters and hunters around the world recognize Hodgdon as the company that makes the best performing, most convenient, safest, and easy to clean black powder substitute propellants. Pyrodex®, introduced in 1976, is the most successful black powder substitute on the market. Pyrodex products are safer, cleaner burning and produces 30% more shots per pound than common black powder. Pyrodex also makes it easier to clean the gun after shooting.
Innovation is a key part of Hodgdon’s philosophy and values. The patented Pyrodex Pellets give the modern muzzleloader speed and safety in a convenient preformed charge. They offer quick and safe no-spill loading, instant ignition, and faster second shots.
Always looking to the future, Hodgdon took muzzleloading to the next millennium with Triple Seven® muzzleloading Pellets and granular propellants. Introduced in 2001, Triple Seven has proven to be very consistent and accurate but is most recognized for its easy water clean up and no sulfur (rotten egg) smell! In 2007, Triple Seven Magnums were introduced. Magnums deliver higher energy for serious hunting knock down power.
Hodgdon Powder Company offices are located at 6430 Vista Drive in Shawnee, Kansas. The Powder magazine, packaging and manufacturing facilities are maintained about 140 miles southwest of the main office, in Herington, Kansas. In 2020, when Hodgdon Acquired Accurate, Ramshot and Blackhorn 209, the Miles City, Montana location was also acquired. The Miles City location is still occupied with office staff, warehousing space and a world-class ballistics lab.
Tumblr media
To better serve our reloading customers Hodgdon Powder Company continues to grow. Hodgdon purchased IMR® Powder Company in October 2003. IMR legendary powders have been the mainstay of numerous handloaders for almost 100 years. IMR powders continue to be manufactured in the same plant and with the same exacting performance criteria and quality assurance standards that shooters have come to expect.
In March 2006, Hodgdon Powder Company and Winchester® Ammunition announced that Winchester® branded reloading powders would be licensed to Hodgdon. Winchester smokeless propellants, the choice of loading professionals, are available to the handloader to duplicate the factory performance of loads from handgun to rifle and shotgun.
Tumblr media
In January 2009 Hodgdon acquired an American icon GOEX Powder, Inc. GOEX has a rich history dating back to 1802 where E.I. Du Pont de Nemours broke ground on his original black powder plant along the Brandywine River in Delaware. Goex Powder, Inc. manufactures black powder used for sporting applications such as civil war re-enactments and flintlock firearms, and is a vital component for industrial and military applications. Located in Minden, Louisiana, GOEX Powder, Inc. is the only U.S. manufacturer of black powder. Hodgdon then sold the GOEX plant and brand in 2021.

Avail The High-Quality Ammo From The Foundry Outdoors.
Tumblr media
21ST September 2022- The modern outdoorsman can shop online at Foundry Outdoors. They offer services to people who enjoy fishing, camping, boating, hunting, and archery. On a website responsive to mobile devices, well-organized, and simple to use, they create the best online buying experience for outdoor goods. The most crucial duty is selecting the proper ammunition, and if you choose a size that is inappropriate for your pistol, it won't fit. The most cost-effective strategy to save money on ammo purchases has always been to buy in high quantity. Over the past few years, buying ammo in bulk has become more and more common for several reasons. Choose the right dealer to buy the 308 Ammo.
Buying bulk ammo and putting it away for later use is a great way to ensure your favored rounds are accessible when you need them. Their large box rivals cannot compete with their low overhead, agility, and private ownership due to these factors. In light of this context, they have filled a market gap created by their online-only competitors' antiquated technology and limited perspective. After selecting the type of ammo you need, the quantity of ammunition you need must now be established. You can get low-cost ammo in box, case, and bulk amounts according to your requirements. If you go through a lot of rounds and have ever been annoyed by a given caliber's sudden unavailability, buying bulk ammo is a fantastic way to prevent that headache completely.
Determine how much coverage you need by thinking about buying ammunition as an insurance policy. Remember that ammunition for regular range use and smaller calibers is often much less expensive than ammo for home defense and larger calibers. Their patented software links a network of suppliers who are leaders in their respective categories, using a cutting-edge supply chain management method with no administrative burden. This enables you to provide consumers with a wide range of high-quality goods at affordable costs, swiftly complete orders, and give world-class customer service.
When buying 9mm Ammo you can be purchased at a reasonable price, buying in bulk is a good option because it can be challenging to get bullets in stock. Each of you has known the agony of waiting too long to buy a particular caliber only to find that it is now impossible to get or is extremely expensive. To make Foundry an all-in-one destination for the outdoors, they are also hard at work publishing an ever-expanding knowledge library of educational pieces authored by authors who live their crafts. Foundry Outdoors is defining the future of outdoor gear retail via this vision and, most importantly, by placing the needs of you, the customer, first.
