mixed signals
pairing: plo koon / reader
word count: 1805
summary: according to your best friend’s padawan and grandpadawan, you and plo were a little too good at being discreet with your relationship. that was most definitely not the case.
req: can you maybe write about reader who constantly has flirtatious banter with obi wan and idk maybe anakin/ahsoka thought that they have something but really reader's in love with plo koon or has a relationship with him maybe? please,,, ty i love your fics bye im too awkward
a/n: this has been on my mind for a while y’all, i love plo so much it’s unreal. also i wanna see who gets my reference hehe
ahsoka huffed and threw her hands in the air in exasperation. no matter how many times she tried to explain it to anakin, he didn’t seem to get it. the banter! the casual closeness! the over abundance of physical contact at random moments! to ahsoka, that translated to something more than platonic feelings between you and her grandmaster. “you can’t deny that there’s something between them, master! the touches, the tension!”
anakin doesn’t buy it in the slightest. he’s known obi-wan for years, not to mention he trained under him, and met you shortly after arriving at the temple. if anyone would be able to pick up on a hidden relationship between you and his former master, it would be him. “they’re just friends, ahsoka. trust me, they’re not hiding anything.”
that’s also another area anakin believes he excels in: hiding relationships. there’s a certain decorum that you and obi-wan would have to keep if you were truly together and nothing of your behavior hints at secrecy. nothing in the force hinted at an existent “thing” either, and that’s all the convincing anakin needs. the force may be cryptic and sometimes mischievous, but it never outright lied.
after drinking more water, ahsoka rose from the bench and poised herself in preparation for more training. the duo had been at it for a while with the precious down time they and the 501st were granted after three months of back to back missions.
“you really think you’re gonna win this time, snips?” training his padawan in the method of jar’kai was tedious at best and troublesome at worst. anakin wasn’t extremely proficient in the style (he wasn’t necessarily bad at it by any means but still) and he didn’t always know what needed to be corrected in her form. you, on the other hand, were highly proficient in form six and when able, you would help teach the young togruta the ins and outs of dual wielding.
“i can only get better from here,” she grinned and ignited her lightsabers, preparing to spar her master yet again. but her master was paying no mind to the young togruta, quick to sense a familiar presence entering the training gym.
“obi-wan, how was the mission? you should have been back two days ago.” anakin greets his former master with a smile. at the mention of her grandmaster, ahsoka forgets about training and is bouncing on the balls of her feet in anticipation. your battalion was assigned a joint mission with the 212th three weeks ago, and obi-wan’s return meant that you would be back to do a much better job at jar’kai training.
both jedi generals could feel her excitement building in the force but when she tried to feel for you, you weren’t anywhere near the temple, or even on the planet. “master,” ahsoka directed to obi-wan a tinge of worry in her voice, “where is-“
“they separated from us to meet up with master plo on our way back. but don’t worry, both the 89th and 104th are due back within a day or two.” obi-wan was smiling as he spoke, knowing exactly why you took your battalion on a detour and delayed your return to coruscant.
your relationship with plo has become an insider’s not-secret secret throughout the order. only those that were among yours and plo’s most trusted friends were explicitly told the true nature of your relationship with the kel dor, and that number could be counted on your fingers. everyone else, on the other hand, was able to deduce the relationship from literally every public interaction between the two of you. everyone except for anakin and ahsoka, it seemed.
“was there a complication with their relief efforts?”
“is master plo okay?”
at first, obi-wan thought the two were playing up the naivety in jest. that they, like the rest of the order, pretended to be oblivious to the adoration and love that leaked through plo’s shields when he was around you. to obi-wan, those waves were impossible to miss and always expected because there was never a moment where plo didn’t worship you and take pride that you, in all your competence, remained devoted to him.
but when the stewjoni jedi probed the force for their typical mirth, all he found was genuine worry. did they truly not know? “there were no complications with the relief mission, no need to worry. now by all means, don’t let me interrupt your training.”
ahsoka stepped in front of him as he made like he was leaving the training grounds. “aren’t you going to stay, master obi-wan?”
“i suppose i could do with some entertainment for the afternoon.” anakin made a noise of indignance before attempting to catch his former master off-guard, kicking off another long bout of training that would last a good while longer than anyone intended.
“biggs, it’s only the 104th. there’s nothing to worry about.” you try to reassure your commander but he refuses to budge. all you were planning on doing was spending the hyperspace trip from aleen to coruscant with plo. your battalions had just finished up a joint relief effort and biggs wasn’t worried about a thing then, so you weren’t quite sure what had his codpiece in a twist.
“that’s exactly what i’m worried about.” the mirth in his eyes betrays his stoic tone. “they’re animals, general, i don’t want them to corrupt you.”
your laugh rang through the bridge and several nearby troopers glanced your way, curious as to what antics you were pulling this time. when they were satisfied in the knowledge that you were only laughing, they resumed their duties a little lighter. “i’ll meet you when we get out of hyperspace, biggs. keep our men out of trouble while i’m gone.”
biggs saluted you as you boarded your aethersprite, you more than ready to spend more time with your husband. the war effort has made time together a rarity, both of you just close enough to be certain that the other is okay but nothing more. you yearn for the days where you could just sneak into each other’s quarters like padawans without a care. the times were much simpler and the galaxy was a lot safer, and the love you felt wasn’t tainted by constant worry.
but this stolen time between missions was more than you could ask for these days. it was hard being away from plo for such long stretches this often, and you took what you could get.
it was only moments between your departure from one cruiser to another yet your nerves were scattered as if you had been flying for days. you knew he would pick up on the melancholic tinge of your force signature before you even stepped foot on the venator. the mission you just completed had been a far more gruesome one than you’d seen in a while, and the horrors of what you saw weighed on you in many ways.
all you needed right now was plo. as you unhooked yourself from your aethersprite, you made up your mind that you’re not going to wait for the comfort of his embrace, all propriety be damned. the moment you see him, you’re gonna bolt for him. he’ll always catch you.
plo was entering the hangar as you jumped out of the small ship. he could feel in his bones the way the force sang as you approached and increased his pace. members of the wolfpack saw you break into a run, some knowing exactly why you were booking it and smiling when they see their own general beginning to rush as well.
he catches you with the force and lifts you slightly above his head. his signature has lightened immensely in the mere moments you’ve been within eyesight, tenfold once he let you down and you wrapped each other in a loving embrace. you pressed your forehead to his lovingly, not even bothering to hide the adoration and devotion shining through your force signature. a taloned hand holds your face gently, his thumb stroking your cheek with gentle reverence.
“plo! i’ve missed you, my love.”
“i’ve missed you too, starlight. now before we rest, i have something to show you—“
“generals?”
the voice belonged to aurelac, a roguish lieutenant that’s made terrific progress towards arc training despite his missing arm. he sounded almost timid, which, if you know aurelac as well as you believe you do, is never a good sign. “i’m terribly sorry to interrupt such a joyous reunion, but i have general skywalker and commander tano requesting to speak with you both.”
you can’t contain the giggles that erupt when you see the holodisc aurelac was holding, the holographic forms of the jedi in question looking at the two of you in shock. “anakin, little ‘soka, what a pleasant surprise,” you can hear the smirk in plo’s voice and it only snowballs the laughter. “is anything the matter?”
your fellow jedi are paralyzed in their confusion at the sight. you and plo, wrapped in each other’s arms in a manner that is far more than simple camaraderie. anakin knew well the intimacy of such an embrace and felt like a fool. he’d been so wrapped up in deflecting ahsoka’s questions about you and obi-wan being romantically involved that he didn’t even consider the relationship you had with the kel dor jedi.
your laughter has gotten to where even your husband is shaking lightly simply because he’s holding you. you wish you could stop for a brief moment, but each time you catch a glimpse of anakin and ahsoka you start up again. aurelac can’t keep a straight face either and his amusement (and the slight shaking of his shoulders and the holodisc) does nothing to calm you.
ahsoka snaps out of her daze before anakin does, giving a short reply. “nothing’s wrong master, we just wanted to wish you a safe return.” banthashit. you don’t have to be there to sense it. she’s most definitely not fine and you have a sneaking suspicion as to why. “master obi-wan told us that you took a detour instead of coming to coruscant with the 212th, and we wanted to check on you.”
“we are perfectly fine, ‘soka,” you reassured with a teasing lilt in your voice, “we’ll be on coruscant soon. i hope you’ve been practicing your jar’kai.” you give the young togruta a wink.
anakin clears his throat awkwardly, his prosthetic hand rubbing at the back of his neck. “um, we’ll let you go, i’m sure you both want to rest.” you weren’t paying attention to plo’s farewell but you gave them both a small wave as the blue light crackled away.
“now where were we, my flower?”
“i think you had something to show me.”
“ah yes, now come along dearest.”
