It was rare for everything to go so smoothly. A couple of sprains and bruises are not a big problem. For the first time in several missions, Kix could rest. He almost didn’t believe it himself. But it's a nice change. So Thera was right. Don't spoil this evening with any plans.

“Yes, you’re right. We’ll lie down, rest and write reports right here. You let me read yours, I’ll let you read mine. We’ll send them on time and Rex will finally get a job, otherwise after the mission he, like Kix, has nothing to do. He's not used to this."

Fives' impression of Vali changed by the minute. Fives wasn't sure what to think of him. On the one hand, yes, he was an outsider and many did not trust him. Umbara was fresh in their memory. Plus that overheard conversation. But on the other hand, Fives saw how benevolent Vali was. How sincerely he admired his brother. What will be best for them all?

When Vali said that he knew that Fives was eavesdropping, Fives felt uncomfortable. If they start their collaboration like this, then if things go wrong, it will be their fault too. Maybe they should trust Vali and see how it goes.

“I'm sorry for eavesdropping. Perhaps I overreacted. I’m sorry about that. We shouldn't have treated you with questions from the start. It's a terrible way to work together. And... We won't ask you every step of the way, sir. I apologize for our behaviour. It will be better if we act together than if we are divided.“

Fives believed in her words. Aelith could be a dangerous enemy. No one has yet been able to oppose her magic. Even the Jedi. If someone foolishly became her enemy, Fives did not envy the idiot. Therefore, he had no doubt that for his sake she would be ready to fight even with Chancellor Palpatine.

"I'm lucky! I am protected by an amazing and strong woman. I don't envy people who get in your way!"

He enjoyed her touch. He was ready to do anything for this amazing brave woman. One day they will be free from this war and will be able to live together without fear of decommissioning and Kaminoans.

He pressed his forehead against hers.

Fives preferred to remain optimistic rather than let his dark thoughts take over. He's already lost so many brothers, including Hevy, Cutup, and Droidbate, to let Echo die. Even if the chances are low, Fives will seize on this minimal chance and do everything in his power. He was too stubborn to give up. He didn't want to think about losing his twin. This thought was too painful and scary.

"Well, optimism is all that's left for us. Otherwise, we can only let the tin cans do what they were made for."

They went through many missions together. Since they became part of the Torrent, Fives has worked hard to become an ARC troopers. For both of them to become ARC troopers. And now that they've done it, it would be foolish to let Echo die like this. They'll manage. Rex and Kix will find them and help Echo. And they will laugh at this situation later.

Fives chuckled as Echo joked over the comlink. If he still has his sense of humor, then all is not lost. It was hoped that Rex would be in time.

"But you will be in my arms, it's a little different than just dying on the ground."

Fives rolled his eyes. This argument didn't matter, except that Echo probably wanted to annoy him. But it was a little distracting from their situation. Kix would probably really yell at him if Echo couldn't be moved. But lying still was also a bad option.

"Thanks brother! I really don't mind if Kix yells at me, so yes, I probably volunteered."

"Oh, you sure do volunteered if it was your idea to move the wounded!"

Fives was so focused on keeping Echo straight that he didn't notice Kix and Rex approaching them.

"You can yell at me any time you like, but help him now! Rex, help me then."

Rex and Fives laid Echo gently on the ground so Kix could examine the wound.

The war was finally over and the Sith were defeated. Even Echo was alive and saved from the clutches of the separatists! He was on Kamino now, undergoing treatment to overcome the effects of captivity. But most importantly, he was alive, and this made Fives incredibly happy.

He was proud that he was the one who contributed to Chancellor Palpatine getting what he deserved. If not for his investigation, then everything could have ended in tragedy! Now everything was great. What's more, the senate and the new chancellor finally gave the clones civil rights! This made the clones citizens of the Republic and they could do whatever they wanted. Therefore, Fives first bought a ring for Aelith and persuaded everyone to help him propose to her.

He was incredibly happy when she agreed. They became the second news of the day, it's good they weren't knocked off their feet.

"Oh yeah! I have a huge huge family!“

She was right. Even the capabilities of the ARC troopers were limited by their abilities and orders. He wouldn't be able to sort through any Kaminoan research like Nala Se did or politics like senator Amidala did. They all had their specializations for a reason.

"I understand. As an ARC trooper, I can do a lot, but still, everyone has limits. So I don't blame you. Each soldier has his own specialty."

He smiled at her and followed her. Her ship was different from anything he had seen before. Elongated body, well armed, probably fast.

Right now, he didn't care how the Force worked. The main thing is that the Force helps the Jedi to determine whether he is lying or not. You can also take his blood and find the drug that Nala Se poisoned him with.

Her words calmed him a little. She will tell her truth, he will tell his, and the Jedi must believe them. Otherwise it's all over.

Fives introduced Aelith on a bear and chuckled. It would be funny. And unexpectedly for their enemies. But he doubted anyone would let her have a bear or anything big and dangerous. Dangerous animals are dangerous animals. They can hurt everyone. Even loth cats can be dangerous under certain conditions.

“Let's stop at the tooka. Tooka or loth cats are cute and harmless.“

He took her to her room and laid her gently on the bed. He should have undressed her, but he didn't think it was a good idea. He covered her with a blanket and kissed her forehead.

"Here. Sleep, you will feel better.“

Yes, he worked closely with Bo-Katan and this work was not pleasant. Bo-Katan considered herself superior to the clones and did not view them as separate living beings. They were meat droids to her. It was annoying. Plus, she herself was involved in the fact that Maul captured Mandalore. She was part of the Death Watch and herself participated in the overthrow of her sister. What became of Mandalore after the Clone Wars Rex didn't know, and had no desire to know. In any case, with a ruler like Bo Katan Kryze, nothing good awaited the clones there.

"Unfortunately. But I'm glad our work together was short."

Mando snorted. It is unlikely that the Armorer will be happy with such a gift anyway.

"Keep it then. Robbing a woman after it's our own fault that she ended up on our board would be unfair."

Fives smiled at her and looked at Mando. He waved his hand.

"He doesn't mind. Two votes to one doesn't matter. Oh, by the way, are you hungry? We have something left to eat."

Fives imagined Kix's face twisting if Aelith really started throwing lightning bolts. If the medbay was destroyed, they would all be in trouble. So they'd rather make noise than comfort poor Kix later.

“Yeah, let's save poor Kix's nerves. He has a nervous job even without our participation.“

Fives chuckled as she sent a cloud of crystals at him. Actually he was joking. He was too tired for such things. He held on to the power of stubbornness and the stimulant. When their action is over, it would be better if he was in bed.

“Probably a week. There was no time to rest, so I hardly took off my armor. God, how I've been dreaming about showers in the last few days.“

He finally managed to cope with all the armor and clothes and appeared before her only in shorts.

Fives watched her go and drank some tea. What should he do? He cannot stay here forever. He's not a deserter, and he didn't want others to think of him that way. If they don't help him, he will find his own way to get out of here.
