Happy Monday Lovely fandom. Not a ton in these episodes for them. Gonna combine these two. Thank you for idea D ❤️ These are my least fav of the season. Not gonna lie whenever I reach the Simone eps in a rewatch I skip around her stuff LOL Never resonated with me. So it’s funny the first ep is called Simone and I won’t really be covering her much at all. Probably be a shorter one with some crumbs. Let’s get going though shall we?

4x19 Simone/4x20 Enervo

We start off with an actual bang. John and Lucy respond to a suspicious activity call. It's near a power station in Griffith Park. They find a bomb and get out just in time but not before they’re thrown to the ground by the blast. They get thrown pretty damn far and are fairly banged up. It's insane how much damage they took even clearing the building.

Tim shows up to the scene and does a worried husband look I love. Checking in on her by doing a once over once he makes it to them. Does a silent check in as he reports it’ll take 12 hours to fix the damaged power station. The silent check in is everything. Once again it’s the little things I cherish especially in low content episodes. It's subtle but noticeable once you know it's there. Trying to contain his concern with her all banged up. It’s ok love your wifey is fine hehe

I love these two shots for quite a few reasons. One you know I love the tall/smol shots. I wish I could put into words why I love it so very much. It’s just aesthetically pleasing is one of the reasons I suppose. All I know is I’m a sucker for it. Second how in-sync they are in their movements and how they mirror one another in the second one.

Third the lack of personal space. Especially in that first gif. Theme of this season I adore so much. Always that gravitational pull of theirs. Lastly look at them. They’re gorgeous just standing next to one another. Also it is unfair Lucy is covered in dirt and soot and looks amazing still. Not fair haha

Oh right there’s a SL too LOL Not me just gawking at them haha The feds show up because this is a terrorist attack. They ask Nolan and Lucy about what they remember about the bomb. Nolan of course is no help. Smh Lucy is able to describe little better for them. FBI says they’re taking over from here. Grey fights it since John and Lucy were almost killed discovering the bomb. Garza concedes and they’re able to work together on this one.

We rejoin our ship headed towards National Guard Armory. They’ve deduced this guys real target was this. Reason he shut down the power was to gain access inside there. They’re en-route to catch him. They find out he’s already on the move and they’ve gotta catch him. Which leads us to this car chase. First off let’s note Lucy getting to drive in this intense moment. It is more common these days for them. I just love seeing Tim trust her so implicitly nowadays. That this is new normal for them. *heart clutch*

Control freak in him has eased up quite a bit with her at least. Maybe not with anyone else LOL Once again it's the little things to love. The spurts of growth. They make me happy. Anyways dude stole a friggin Humvee so taking him down will not be easy. Nolan says they need to stop this guy. No shit John...What do you think the purpose of this chase is? To have fun at a high speeds in a shop for kicks?

Sometimes the words out of his mouth floor me..and not in a good way. Tim is using his military experience in this moment. (Yum) Explains why that’s not going to be easy. He’s basically encased himself in a mini tank. Their usual pit maneuver isn’t going to work on this guy. Nolan offering up another solution. I adore the silent communication and the look. That automatic instinct to check in with each other. I'll never be over it. I love watching them in the field so very much. Just a well oiled machine. Tim is considering Nolan’s suggestion then checking in with wifey before executing it. Love it.

Tim explains their plan to Nolan while Lucy listens in. Tim advices they both hit the doors. Tells them it has to be at the same time though. To avoid the wheels at all costs. Lucy needing to know the why of course. Asks why they can’t hit the tires? Tim explains they’ll die and be a cautionary tale for future rookies LOL Gotta love Lucy questioning why they can't in the middle of a high speed chase. I'm sure she wasn't expecting that to be his answer ha.

Her comment about her mom cracks me up. Anything to prove to her mother she’s wrong and she is right about being a cop. Her first thought not being she’ll die. No it’ll be about her mother being right about her career choice. Lmao Oh Lucy Chen I love you. Also I relate to this train of thought all too well sadly. I do love her saying they’ll be disgraced together. Be more married please.

Tim doesn’t even fight her on this thought. Lucy basically saying if I’m going down you’re coming with. Tim isn’t fighting her at all. His silence is saying lead the way. They’re in this together and I love that so very much. Being a literal ride or die right now in this moment.

I love me some crumbs in a low content ep. Also only they could banter during a high pressure situation and still get the job done. I love them so much. They are successful but find out the driver isn’t their guy but a decoy. Wah Wah.

They regroup at the station after their chase. Nolan asking Lucy if she got any sleep? She then calls out Tim for getting some. Not only does she call him out but nicknames him 'Sleeping beauty.' Looking directly at him the entire time. Making sure he know she is talking about him and only him. All aboard the flirt train Nolan is an unwilling participant in the matter haha

Such blatant flirty flirts. Tim fires back a sassy reply to her jab. Just openly flirting and doing heart eyes out in the open. Ain’t no thang this season lol Shoots back not to be jealous he was allowed to sleep and she hasn’t. Lucy’s reaction is the best. That fond exasperation they’ve had all season long. So used to her husband antics at this point but has to let him know she’s annoyed at him. Damnit I love them sfm.

They end up finding his base of operations. Lucy of course breaking the case. Cause she’s brilliant finds a word he’s written down by doing an etching off a wall he used. ‘Enervo’ Garza telling them it means 'To deprive of power.' John asks Tim what the military’s first target is? I love watching Tim flex his military background again. It’s sexy af. Seriously gets me hot and bothered *fans self* Tim and Lucy cracking this case right open. You’re welcome everyone haha That’s it for this one. Low content one since it was meant to launch rookie feds. Next one has even less so this is why we’re combining them.

I do love when Nyla and Angela work together. Two bad ass woman just doing their jobs like confident BAMFS.

4x20 Enervo.

We find out he’s rented U-Haul’s and it’s going to take out the biggest roads with them. Crippling the city and killing thousands. They can't get a warrant right away to track them so everyone is in on the hunt. As always I love watching them in action in the field. That second gif their cop eyes have been activated. You can see them combing the street together. They’re so in-sync as they search the streets for one of the five U-Haul’s. I could go on and on about how much I love their work dynamic I really could. But I'll stop there ha

The trucks are divided up into states. Cause well that’s U-haul haha if you’ve ever driven one you’d know. Always got graphics or other states on them. One has already exploded unfortunately so they're down to 4 trucks that need to be found. Lucy and Tim spot ‘Florida’ and are in pursuit of it. I love how calm they look. That’s kinda it for them in this one. I can add this last lovely gif of them in the field. Seeing how they move in motion together. It is impressive to see how in-sync they always are. Shared brain thing I love so much. I’m sorry there isn’t more. I mean it’s not my fault but I’m still sorry LOL

We shouldn’t hit this again. Even the light one in S5 is really good and would fill a review well so this will be the last scant ep for them. Probably won’t combine them again ha

justice for sam

If the spnepisodebracket craze has shown us anything, it's that the supernatural fanbase is extremely divided, with the lowly sam stan seemingly at the bottom of the pile. sam is always last in polls, so this is a bracket for the 10% or so who always votes for him. because yeah, there's 327 episodes of Supernatural, but how many are popular because of a dean or destiel moment? how many good episodes are drowned out because they focus on sam?

i've chosen, with some crowdsourced peer review (special thanks to @spneveryseason, @suncaptor, and @ambersock!) 125 episodes that are Sam Relevant. Some are extremely sam-centric, some just have a shot where sam looks like he's being crucified that gives me brain worms -- i tried to be generous about it to keep a relatively even seasons distribution! matchups will be random and polls will last 24 hours each. in the tradition of @spnepisodebracket (who this is obviously inspired by and would not be possible without!) i'll try to rb a gifset for every episode in the poll!

a final note: no this is not that serious but the criteria for voting here should be how good the episode is as a SAM episode, not as anything else, so please vote accordingly! i am making this for people who actually enjoy sam and if that is not you, then this is not the poll for you!

Did Layla know first? (Jordayla)

Notorious to the Jordayla fandom is the question: Did Layla know about Jordan's feelings for her before his confession? She does, at times, seem to show an awareness of them.

1.) 4x07 - Prom Night / I think you're leaning

This dance is where things shift for Jordan, and Layla clocks him immediately. He said during their conversation that leaning indicates attraction and she says that he is leaning. It's just so bold I can only nervously giggle.

2) 4x12 - Babies and Fools / Take a chance

Layla's dad encourages her to put herself out there and take a chance on love. She considers calling Clay but ends up calling Jordan. She listened to her heart which isn't something she does just willy nilly. At the mention of Simone, she visibly takes a moment to gather herself before carrying on. I think she recognises the potential of her and Jordan.

3) 4x16 - Labels / It sounds like someone's jealous

Very similar to Prom Night and somehow much worse. Jordan is talking about who Layla has slept with and she flat calls him jealous. This is not a comment you whip out of nowhere even if you're mad. If anyone else had commented on this, she would never have said that -- maybe something nasty but jealous is just so specific. Obviously, Jordan is jealous and Layla recognises that there is another layer to Jordan's investment in her intimate life. In 4x06, when Jordan mentioned her sleeping with Asher, her response is he's judging, the hypocrisy of him re. sleeping around etc but doesn't think for a second he's jealous. Something shifted in that time since.

4) 4x18 - Came Back for You / Pretty please

To bat your eyelashes at someone and know they'll fold is to know that they're whipped for you.

5) 4x19 - Murder Was the Case / Blame me for your break up

After Simone confronts Jordan about his feelings for Layla, Jordan is avoiding her. She first thinks he's wallowing. Layla is able to pinpoint the exact point of Jordan's change in behaviour. It's not the past few days, past few weeks, since the apparel launch party etc. She literally says "since your break up with Simone" over and over this episode - I remember because every time she says it I think surely we could just say "break up" lol. She brings up that he might blame her for their break up and this is a conclusion she came to by herself. This is crippling self-awareness.

6) 4x19 - Murder Was the Case / Jordan

When Jordan is about to confess, Layla knows immediately where this is going already and makes a last attempt to stop him. She starts to interrupt him but he blurts it out. And the rest is history.

During Jordan’s confession in 4x19 did you noticed that when Jordan said “Layla you were right I was trying to prove a point by sleeping with all those girls” Layla’s face drops, she looks down . Do you think that for a second there Layla felt upset because she thought that he wasn’t over Simone? after he tells her it wasn’t about Simone it was about her she looks up again.

I've never thought about it like that. I thought she was jealous because she was thinking of the girls he hooked up with. And also slightly vindicated that she knew him better than he insinuated.

But his feelings for Simone still being there definitely could've been cause for that reaction too.

Thoughts on Chenford for rest of S4 and possibly S5

Hi lovely anon!

So… I’m thinking for 4x19 and 4x20, Simone and Nolan will be the primary focus since both are backdoor pilots for the spin-off. As such, I don’t think we’ll get much Chenford in those two episodes considering the buffet they fed us with the dance in 4x18. Maybe if the writers are kind, we might get a bit. I wouldn’t expect much though. My question is, since Nolan is riding with Simone it looks like for the majority, who is Lucy riding with? Tim? Angela?

Now, in 4x21, I think we will get a minor thing *cough* breakup *cough* (I hope) to kickstart leading into the finale. Reason being, both love interests are back and it certainly isn’t for another double date. Also, there’s no point to bringing BOTH back unless something was going to happen or go down in my opinion.

Worst case scenario: both couples or one couple are still together after this and they use S5 to break them up. I don’t think it will end up being this, but who knows with the writers.

4x22 is the finale. I’m guessing that whatever happens with Chenford and the love interests in 4x21, the aftermath so to speak will continue in 4x22. Both Eric and Melissa say we will love it. If anything is going to happen with Chenford this season, it’ll be in this episode in my opinion. They have to give us something to lead into S5 with them.

Bottom line, I think we will get something. What that something is, I have no clue. My hope is that it’s something that shoves Chenford forward going into S5. Then, S5 can be used to shove them forward even more with no pesky love interests in the way.

I’ll have a better idea after 4x21, but these are preliminary thoughts.

Idk if you want to get into it but I always wondered what your thoughts were about Simone regarding the Jordayla situation. I personally don’t think she deserved to be upset or any of those feelings are valid esp considering her own emotional cheating and basically never caring what Jordan thought. And then the way she was constantly hating on Layla like I don’t understand why I should expect to be empathetic to a mean girl. Like she definitely wanted to have her cake and eat it and continue to string Jordan along and keep having those feelings for Damon. Please just weigh in if you can I’m really curious

Thanks for the Q. I actually haven’t watched AAHC so I’m missing a big part of the picture here.

The fallout of Jimone’s breakup was messy but I was always confused about what came from Simone and what came from the writers as agents of the viewers. The writers took on board a lot of fan commentary in the writing of S5 and it’s awkward and annoying (separate rant lol). By the end of S4, having been apart for ONE WHOLE SEASON, and falling into BETTER relationships, we were ready to give Jordan and Simone up. The 4x18–4x19 episode run was great, and so this S5 plotpoint of tension with Simone was annoying anyway.

I think Simone is allowed to be upset that Jordan is emotionally cheating on her. Jordan and Simone fell in love for real, they have history, and even if just by name, that is her boyfriend and he owes her loyalty. Jordan had checked out of this relationship which is why he wasn't upset about Simone and Damon, whereas this relationship is what Simone kept coming back to when reconciling her feelings for Damon, only for it to turn out that it's not here for her anymore. She wasn't dating Damon, she wasn't trying to date Damon, so she hasn't purposefully done anything wrong. Nor did she un-fall for Jordan. I don't think either of them wanted to break up. But now, if both of you are in love with someone else, you have to.

Thoroughly enjoyed the 4x18 confrontation. “Something shifted and there’s a connection” from Simone was cute and FAIR. Just very understanding and fair. The hurt was quite delicious to me. 5x01 is where it gets weird…

The hating on Layla, booo. Hated that. I guess she wanted to blame Layla. She owes Jordan something, but not Layla, so it's easier to misdirect her anger there, rather than address their issues. She was butthurt that Damon was with Thea and probably angry that she was feeling guilty “for nothing”. Damon hadn’t chosen her and neither had Jordan. Fine, but why’s Layla in it…? She gets called out each time though. Jordan says “You pushing this Layla point to make you less guilty” and Keisha mentions her “glass house at Bringston” so it’s all transparent and unambiguous.

In 2x07, I want to hear Simone's planned speech for Layla BADD. I don’t think Layla owed her a conversation, did she get one from Olivia? Jordan’s fight with Damon was confusing too. Honestly, these characters are just NOT as involved as they were making out lol.

Simone is hardly a villain but wrong as hell for the Layla part. Her hypocrisy is highlighted but even in the conflict resolution, Layla’s innocence is not made clear enough!
