HAPPY TREY/STAN DAY!!

TREY: i owe a lot to both him and matt. without them my #1 big comfort show wouldn’t exist??? so i guess i should say.. thanks for keeping it going through all these years. it means a LOT to not only just me but MILLIONS of other people as well. also… trey’s scripts are always so… so GOOD??? and the fact that he’s been able to keep that quality for 25 years… wow. also he voices SO MANY characters on the show including THE MOST ICONIC CHARACTER??? this dude literally made eric into CARTMAN. happy 54th trey. i can’t wait to see what the next 4 years of south park will bring!!

STAN: this character has been a BIG source of emotional comfort to me. honestly i didn’t think too much of stan at first, but now he’s definitely in my top 3 (and that’s saying a lot, considering the sheer size of this show’s cast of characters). never in my life have i related to a character more than stan. every time this character is on screen i am reminded of the fourth-grade me. his experiences with his family and his friends, his overall personality, and most of all how he has grown and changed as a person (yes, i am referring to “You’re Getting Old” and “Ass Burgers”). i think every person has had the experience of the rapid emotional change one experiences around the time they hit puberty, but seeing it in the way it was portrayed with stan just hit so close to home for me. it felt like such a shared experience seeing a character go through the process of likes/dislikes transforming themselves and relationships quickly changing for the worse, all topped by the conflict of his parents’ dysfunctional marriage. i had BEEN THERE BEFORE.

anyways, stan is such an amazing character and i couldn’t haven chosen a better protagonist for this show. you go lil man

does anyone else around my age remember a cartoon released on home media sometime between the late 90s and mid-2000s that was like. these human kids were making friends with these monster kids (vampire perhaps?) and went to their house for a sleepover. i think the kids slept in coffins. i think zoot suit riot or a song similar in sound played in it as the intro/outro music. i think it was either one long special or a few shorts. my brother is certain that it was 2d animated with a distinct visual style

I adore his design!! Clearly Tex Avery Wolf inspired while still resembling Disney’s own Big Bad Wolf.

Plus his song is criminally catchy with a ton of fun animation!

Just… just don’t show him any doors…

Overall, a top-tier wolf character, and it’s a shame he’s only in one episode.

In some ways, I feel like Titan A.E.'s story would have worked better as a longer movie or even a miniseries, even though you probably couldn't have gotten away with pitching that in the late '90s. It's not Transformers: The Movie levels of overcaffinated, but it still moves at a bit too brisk of a clip, makes things like the betrayal plot feel like they came out of nowhere.

I wonder if more mature 2D animated western movies like Titan A.E. or Atlantis: The Lost Empire could do better in the current media climate, or if they'd bomb just as hard as they did back in the day.

I guess, in some ways, streaming animated series have filled the niche, stuff like Castlevania, Invincible, or Scavengers Reign.
