Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍
Tumblr media
Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary! 🎉
To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.
This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!
Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.
With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.
Please, please do check it out on Instagram too:
instagram
If this link doesn't work, my username is @/artofzafrasarfraz - it's where I put all my drawings up on. Please do Shar on stories and comment. Much appreciated 🥹🫶🏼

HELENA ALMEIDA & REBECCA SOLNIT
Tumblr media

London Downtempo Playlist (YouTube)
Continuing to plumb the seemingly endless depths of London's *vast* underground electronic music landscape with this brief and random assortment of killer, underheard gems from the city's incredible downtempo scene.
Things kick off here with a cut from the Rapino Brothers, a pair of Italian guys who moved to London in the late 80s, and who are probably most famous for their very popular remix of the 1993 Italo-Eurodance classic, "The Rhythm of the Night," by Corona. The following year, they released a 12-inch called Go Ahead London, and its title track made its way onto Belgian ambient series Barramundi's first installment. Terrific, twinklingly bleepy affair with great string pads and a sweet trip-hoppy drum groove 😌. The song has a few different uploads on YouTube and has about 10.9K plays in total.
Now, towards the middle of this playlist is maybe my favorite downtempo track ever made, "At the River," by Groove Armada, which has millions of plays. But I actually used a much lesser-known different version of it here, which comes directly from a not-so-stellar Fatboy Slim mix from 2000 called Essential Selection, Vol. One (actually, that release is a double-disc and the second CD is a fantastic trance mix by none other than Paul Oakenfold). So, the first 80 seconds of this version of "At the RIver" happens to be the result of a really impressive transition between another gigantic hit from that late 90s era, Underworld's "Born Slippy," whose drums simply undergird the Groove Armada classic. And it's magic. Currently sitting at around 42.6K plays across its few uploads. A much, much lower play count than the original version.
Also, as London is a pretty diverse and multicultural metropolis, we've also got a pair of tunes here that definitely have an Eastern flair to them as well, even though I don't think that the people who made them are actually of any Eastern ethnicity themselves. "20 Camels," by Friends, Lovers & Family, aka Laurence Elliott-Potter, is on a Middle-Eastern trip hop-lounge tip, and originally comes from a 1998 comp that was released by electronic avantgarde label Law & Auder called Further East-Westercisms. It currently has ~17.8K plays across its handful of uploads. And little-known duo Radar's "Caravane" originates from a 1999 comp called Arabesque, but I found it on another Law & Auder comp from 2000 called East - Westercisms, Vol. 3. That one has about 61.6K plays among its bunch of uploads.
This playlist is ordered as chronologically as possible:
The Rapino Brothers - "Go Ahead London" A Friend From RIo - "Para Lennon & Mccartney (Lumen Soundsmiths Remix)" Fluid - "Spitting Sand" Flywheel - "Slowdown" Groove Armada - "At the River (Fatboy Slim Re-edit)" Friends, Lovers & Family - "20 Camels" Organic Audio - "Organic Monday" The Funky Lowlives - "Notabossa" Radar - "Caravane" David Sheppard & Keiron Phelan - "Theme From Cardinal Menthol"
And this playlist is also on YouTube Music too.
So, with this inaugural post for this playlist, we're starting with 10 songs that end up totaling a little under an hour. But I'll definitely have updates for this in the future, and most likely a corresponding Spotify playlist as well.
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!

i'm a bit of a lights novice. are most of the lights you use LEDs? are incandescents still kicking around? is there some other tech in the lights world i don't know about?
this is actually a great question! the answer is, mostly LEDs but it depends! and now you've activated my trap card (low-level lights autism) and under the read more will be a more in-depth answer
from the pre-history of lights until, say, the late 2000s, every light pretty much had a high-intesnity discharge lamp in em, specifically (at least in america) starting with this guy:
Tumblr media
basically, true "incandescents" only ever existed on big stages for performances in the form of PAR Cans,
Tumblr media
and only for lower wattages, cus they're just inefficient and suck, basically. most PAR Cans are still tungsten halide or better, because they gotta be bright, and afaik there's never been a moving head incandescent, because things like heat and brightness are ever an more compounding concern in moving fixtures because every ounce of cooling is more weight on the motors.
so basically, if we consider high-intensity discharge lamps (more broadly shortened to "tungsten discharge" in the industry because all the electrodes are tungsten and who honestly cares what gas is in there anyway) to be the industry's definition of a "conventional" or "incandescent", then yeah, they're still used to this day, because while LEDs have been being broadly adopted since, say, 2007, it's only very recently that they've begun to truly compare with tungsten on every level.
until the last 5 or 10 years, it was still the case that if you wanted anything that needed to be really goddamn bright (for example, a blinder, which is what it sounds like, or a strobe, which needs to be as bright as possible because you're only seeing it for whatever percentage of a second at a time, or a skylight, which is for killing passing pilots and everyone on board), you'd still be using tungsten discharge, because they were the best and most efficient way to get THAT bright. they're still often referenced as a comparison point in new marketing for lumens/watt and maximum luminous output, and lots of modern fixtures have a tungsten emulation mode, which changes the way the LED dimmer/colour temperature responds as it dims up or down, to emulate the way that tungsten behaves (because we all just miss it so much, i guess).
basically, to give you a (slightly tilted) idea of the splay of lamp types throughout the industry, here's Robe's (pronounced Roh-bee, because they're misanthropic Czechs who just want to make us suffer) product lineup as of April 2024:
Tumblr media
don't ask about the laser light source, those are new and very very cool and very very cutting edge. the digital source is basically just a moving projector, which is also very very cool but not what we're talking about here
but basically, "white source LED" is what I would think of as the "standard" model of moving head that's "not an LED" fixture, which is to say, there's only one LED (or one LED engine, i.e. multiple LEDs on a single board to get more brightness), and it's being used just like how a convetional lamp would be used, that is to say being used as a light source and nothing else.
multispectral LEDs are basically the same thing, but with the ability to control the colour temperature (i.e. how "white" the white is vs how "natural" it looks) with near-scientific precision, as compared to something like an RGB led, which will never really get you a good 5600K, it'll just be kinda piss yellow, or a white LED, which is just white and has to rely on colour filters put on top of it to filter out the light (which is fine but you only get a couple of those and they're never the ones you want). this is mostly for film or theatre applications, especially film, where the exact colour temperature of the light source is pretty much the number one concern.
multisource LEDs are basically a big fuckoff array of LEDs that can be controlled individually to make fun big stuff, e.g. the Robe Tarrantula
Tumblr media
basically these exist on a sliding scale from "i can do some things to some of these LEDs in banks of 3, 5 etc" to "this might as well be pixel mappable," or in some cases actually is (flashing lights CW for this video, it's literally the product showcase for a strobe light, i tried to timestamp to not go directly to any flashing parts but nonetheless):
youtube
most often these are "wash" lights, i.e. lights with much bigger heads to fit much bigger and wider lenses, since it's utilizing many more lower power LEDs, and you need space for all those to fit.
finally, the discharge lamp section, while small, is mighty; the Robe Pointe series is one of the most common, most beloved high-end fixtures in the industry today. they're apparently mercury halide, not tungsten, so hey, the fuck do i know, but yeah. they're similar in a lot of ways to their white LED source compatriots, but i think brighter for the same price point (of course, the prices aren't actually on their website; at this price manufacturers are generally all b2b), and kinda just sexier in certain ways. i think. idk, i'm in the price point where i'm not super experienced with these fixtures lol, but that's my understanding
HENNYWAISE, there ya go :3

One piece of advice for anyone getting into Spider Riders, don't really try hard to question characters ages and it's better just to assign ages for yourself.
Like if you look up some descriptions for the show it describes Hunter as being 11 and idk even by anime protagonist standards I don't believe for a second that kid is 11. 13 or maybe 12 going on 13 I could maybe believe but 11? yeh no.
For that matter they'd also have you believe our female lead Corona is 11 and I just?? No? Like I'm not saying a girl couldn't like that/have a chest at that age but I just nah not happening
Personally I'd put her at 14-15 give her a couple years on Hunter but still close in age.
Magma comes across as vague 'young adult' of the group
Igneous probably second oldest as we know he's older then Hunter with making a comment of 'When I was your age' at one point so I'd say minimum 17-18 for him.
Princess Sparkle is just kid any where between 6-8 seems the most likely for her and her brother Lumen probably close to with in Corona/Hunter's age bracket.
But beyond that it's honestly best just not to think to hard on it, just shove everyone into that void of 'vague Shounen teen/middle school age' basically.
The dub while fairly accurate for like 2000s dubs go (for one that wasn't handled by like 4Kids/Nelvana any of the bigger known localization companies) still does have some weird changes from what I've gathered but for the most part is ok and I'd say worth a watch none the less

I recall one of the old Pocket Books Star Trek novels had a character make an offhand reference to how he was in a cave when his flashlight went out even though “It was supposed to have another year left”. The implication - and honestly decent world-building - was that it was perfectly normal to have flashlights which would work for several years on a single charge. It was a nice touch which both made the character relatable, but also established that he lived in a much more advanced future.
Today, I purchased a pair of 2000 lumen lights. While they won’t operate for years, I do think they will work for a couple days before dying, and under normal use I doubt I’ll need to recharge them more than a few times a year. If you scaled that same battery to a more modest flashlight instead of an area light, I think one can reasonably conclude they would work for weeks or even months.

With adjustable settings and a reliable performance across various underwater scenarios, these lights ensure you’re ready for any adventure that comes your way. 3. 🔍 The Essential Features of a Superior Dive Light Beam Brilliance The type of beam a dive light produces can significantly affect your underwater visibility, making it a critical feature to consider. A wider beam angle enhances visibility in murky or low-light conditions by illuminating a larger area, while a narrower beam is beneficial for focusing on specific objects or areas. Whether you’re exploring a vast seabed or a narrow underwater cave, choosing the right beam type can make all the difference to your diving experience. Endurance Elements While diving, your dive light is your lifeline, guiding your path and ensuring your safety. Therefore, its battery life becomes a critical factor. The power source you choose, whether it’s Li-ion batteries or AA/AAA Ni-MH batteries, can have a substantial impact on your light’s performance. A scuba dive light with an impressive burn time ensures that you never have to dive in darkness, making your underwater adventure both safe and enjoyable with the best dive light.  4. 🛠️ Dive Light Durability and Design When investing in a dive light, it’s not just about the brightness it can deliver. It’s also about how well it’s designed and how long it’s going to last. This section discusses: - The choice of materials in dive light construction - The significance of ergonomic design - The need for secure sealing for optimal performance and longevity. Material Matters The choice of material plays a significant role in a dive light’s durability. Some materials to consider are: - Aluminum: offers strength and resistance to underwater conditions - Titanium: known for its durability and corrosion resistance - Polycarbonate: lightweight and impact-resistant While these materials have their advantages, it’s also important to consider their potential drawbacks. For instance, while aluminum offers enhanced reliability, it may be prone to denting and scratching due to its softer nature compared to steel. Ergonomic Excellence A dive light needs to be more than just bright; it also needs to be comfortable to use. This is where ergonomic design comes in. A dive light with a comfortable grip and balanced weight can significantly improve your underwater experience.  Whether you’re navigating a complex cave system or capturing breathtaking underwater footage, an ergonomically designed dive light ensures that you can focus on the adventure, not on wrestling with your equipment. Secure Sealing In an environment where water is your constant companion, ensuring that your dive light is securely sealed against water infiltration is crucial. A well-sealed dive light not only prevents water from damaging the electrical components but also ensures consistent performance, allowing you to rely on your light during every dive. From using rubber O-rings to silicone-based sealant, manufacturers employ various methods to create a watertight barrier that safeguards your dive light against water damage. 5. 💰 Budget-Friendly Beams: Best Value Dive Lights While the allure of top-tier, feature-packed dive lights is undeniable, not all diving adventures require a hefty investment. There’s a wide range of budget-friendly dive lights available that offer excellent performance without breaking the bank. This section will highlight some budget-friendly options and discuss strategies to optimize long-term savings. Cost-Conscious Choices When it comes to budget-friendly dive lights, affordability doesn’t have to mean compromising on quality or performance. Many dive lights offer impressive performance at a fraction of the cost of premium models. By focusing on essential features and robust build quality, these lights provide divers with reliable illumination without stretching their budget. Long-Term Savings Choosing budget-friendly dive lights isn’t just about the upfront cost. Consideration should also be given to the potential long-term savings. Energy-efficient dive lights, particularly those utilizing LED technology, can lead to decreased electricity expenses and less frequent replacements. This, combined with the extended lifespan typical of LED dive lights, can contribute to significant savings over time, making your investment even more worthwhile. 6. 🌊 Diving Deeper: Specialty Dive Lights for Enthusiasts For diving enthusiasts with specific interests, there’s a specialized dive light out there for your unique needs. Some examples include: - Underwater photographers: Look for dive lights with a high lumen output and a wide beam angle to illuminate your subjects. - Technical divers: Consider dive lights with multiple brightness levels and a long battery life for extended dives. - Videographers: Look for dive lights with a high color rendering index (CRI) to capture accurate colors in your footage. No matter what your scuba diving specialty is, there’s a dive light designed to enhance your underwater experience. This part will explore these specialty dive lights in detail and explain how they can elevate your underwater experiences. Photographic Prowess Underwater photography is an art form that requires not just skill but also the right tools, and a good dive light is a critical part of that toolkit. A primary light often comes with features like red LEDs and adjustable Kelvin settings, making them ideal for underwater photography. These features can significantly enhance your underwater images, rendering them vibrant and lifelike. Tech Diver Tools Technical diving often involves navigating challenging underwater environments, which necessitates the use of specialized dive lights. Some lights are equipped with high-intensity beams and other features designed to meet the specific requirements of technical divers. Whether you’re diving in a deep passage or exploring a wreck, these lights provide the reliable, high-performance illumination you need to venture with confidence. Video Visionaries Capturing the majesty of the underwater world in motion requires a dive light that is specifically optimized for video. Some lights are designed to provide even illumination and have video-specific settings. These features ensure that your underwater footage is clear, well-lit, and truly representative of the underwater world.  7. 🛍️ Personalizing Your Dive Light Selection Although we’ve covered a range of dive lights and their features, remember that the ideal light for you should align with your specific needs and preferences. Personalizing your dive light selection is crucial to maximizing its utility and enhancing your diving experience. Consider the following factors when choosing a dive light: - Your dive profile - The depth and conditions of your dives - The type of diving you do (e.g. cave diving, night diving) - The compatibility of the light with your other dive gear By taking these factors into account, you can find a dive light that meets your individual requirements and enhances your underwater adventures. Compatibility Check A dive light doesn’t function in isolation. It’s part of your overall dive gear, and ensuring compatibility is crucial. Whether it’s fitting properly on your wrist or attaching securely to your suit, your dive light should integrate seamlessly with your dive gear for optimal performance and ease of use. Summary From illuminating the vibrant hues of a coral reef to revealing the hidden corners of a shipwreck, dive lights play a crucial role in your underwater adventures. By considering factors like beam type, battery life, and adaptability, you can choose a dive light that caters to your specific needs, whether you’re a leisure diver or a technical diver.  Remember, a good dive light is more than just a source of illumination—it’s your guiding star in the captivating underwater world!  8. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions How many lumens is good for a dive light? The ideal number of lumens for a dive light depends on various factors, including the diving environment, depth, water clarity, and personal preference. In general, a dive light with a brightness of 500 to 1000 lumens is considered suitable for recreational diving in clear to moderately murky waters. For night dives or exploring darker environments, a higher lumen output of 1000 to 2000 lumens may be preferable to provide better visibility and illuminate larger areas. What factors should I consider when selecting a dive light? When selecting a dive light, consider factors such as your dive profile, beam type, battery life, adaptability to different conditions, materials, ergonomic design, and sealing. These factors will ensure you choose the most suitable dive light for your needs. Can I get a good dive light on a budget? Yes, it's definitely possible to find a good dive light on a budget! While high-end dive lights can be expensive, there are plenty of affordable options available that still offer reliable performance for recreational diving. I'm an underwater photographer.
Nel 2000 Roberto Intrallazzi incontra Luca Provera, dj and producer.

Lumen, ogni venerdì, dillo solo a tuoi migliori amici
@ Barlume - Marina di Carrara (MS) Viale A. Vespucci 4.
Dalle 19:30 Aperitivo servito (su prenotazione)
Da mezzanotte, club & drink 10€. E' gradita l'eleganza.
Tavoli Aperitivo, Club, Info: 392 1161616
