1967 Ford Mustang - 08/20/23
From all the stories I've heard, this car has been sitting here longer than I've been alive. Located next to an abandoned bowling alley a few towns over from mine, this ole 'stang sure has seen better days. While the body lacks severe or even surface rust, the interior is noticeably shot and filled with spare parts and hubcaps. Another interesting detail I noticed was a Cobra head that replaced the circular badge in the rear of the car, likely an homage to the Cobra made infamous by Carroll Shelby, who also produced the GT350 and GT500 model Mustangs for Ford.
Update: Apparently it is NOT a 68'. IT IS NOT A 1968. I guess.

Ford Mustang GT 390 del 1968.
Two examples of Mustang were used during filming: one driven by McQueen equipped with a smoke system on the rear axle,
the other, driven by stuntman Bud Ekins and equipped with a roll cage and reinforced suspension (nicknamed Jumper, was used for the jumps on the slopes of San Francisco).
After the film the cars disappeared for decades. The first discovery was that of the Jumper, found abandoned in a warehouse in Mexico in March 2017; the other car came out a few months later from a New Jersey family who kept it in secret for forty years, then subjected to a conservative restoration by Ford itself and exhibited at the Detroit International Auto Show in January 2018, coinciding with the presentation of the "Bullitt Limited Edition" of the latest generation Mustang.
