Celebrating 75 years since it's introduction to American Shores, the 1949 VW Beetle was on display in Volkswagen booth at the Chicago Auto Show.

1949 VW Beetle

The first year that Volkswagen Beetles were sold in the United States was 1949. There were only two available, imported to the U.S. by a Dutch businessman.

The Think Small ads, produced by the Doyle Dane Bernbach agency, not only fed into the car’s image of being inexpensive, small and unstylish but actually celebrated it. People who got the ads loved them, and many bought the cars.

The ads set the tone for VW through the 1960s, tapping into the offbeat, anti-snobbery attitudes of that decade, and spawned an astounding record of success for the homely little bug from Germany.

Volkswagen Type 1 Karmann Cabriolet Police Special Edition, 1949. Wilhelm Karmann first bought a VW sedan in 1948 and converted it into a four-seater convertible. After successfully presenting it to VW in Wolfsburg, Beetle Cabriolet began production in 1949 by Karmann in Osnabrück.

The PRO's got a call from Dan in Utah who had just got done watching an episode of Bitchin' Rides featuring the little sister, built by Dave King and his team at Kindigit Design.

He wanted to emulate it the overall stance on his 1956 Beetle with some slight changes, which everyone over at the HQ loves! Dan is going to install a 190hp engine in it so the PRO's needed to thing PERFORMANCE with this one. Up front, the PRO's went with a Stage 1 PRObuilt Beam that has been narrowed 4 inches and also has drop spindles. We went with adjustable shocks front and rear and an OEM PRObuilt Steering System that will last for years! GEN 2 BAD Series Brakes were installed on the beam in a Wide 5 pattern along with 4 piston Wilwood calipers in grey. This thing will handle, stop and can be tuned to his liking. I love it. We opted for the PRObuilt Performance Transaxles with short axle to give the VW a deeper dish in the rear on his 17" Two-Piece Smoothies. More on those later. We went with a 4.11 ring and pinion and the overdrive 4th out of a super beetle to keep his monster motor from over revving at high speeds. Mated to the trans, we installed a GEN 2 BAD Series Disc Brakes in the rear with an ebrake caliper, we opted for no color due to not being able to see them through the wheels. But should he decide to not install the caps, them GEN 2 matching center caps are going to look epic! Back to the 2 Piece Smoothies, we went with RAL3020 (red) on the hoops and went with the machined center....drool. The PRO's wrapped them in Kumho's, 205-40's up front and 215-45's in the rear. Everything Dan needed to do this install was purchased to allow him to have an adult Lego set from the PRO's at Airkewld. That's a real funny excuse considering it's okay to ship everyone else in Radiator springs. Let's do some quick math.

Flo(early 50s show car) and Ramone(1969 Impala) even on the high end of 1954 that's minimum a 15 year age gap.

Even more popular? Fillmore(1960 VW) and Sarge(1949) 11 years.

So? If they're happy and they ain't fucking abusing or gaslighting each other then so what? Lightning will be alone and heartbroken because Doc will pass earlier? His fucking choice.

because real Relationships aren't perfect. They can be gay, straight, same age, age gaps, healthy, abusive, short lived; long lived and so on.

But if there isn't active abuse and the parties involved are happy then move on.

I could go on arguing the father son versus romantic obsession in the third film but everyone's done that. Just remember the tramp stamp at the end of the third film. And yes it's a tramp stamp because they made that joke in the first film and yes there are people that actually get names as tramp stamps so it's not that much of a stretch.
