Nun laufen die diesjährigen Wagnerfestspiele schon über eine Woche und in der Stadt hat sich die allgemeine Festspielstimmung breit gemacht. Es ist nicht so viele Festspielgäste wie sonst, aber dafür mischen sich noch andere kulturinteressierte Gäste unter, so dass wirklich viel los ist in Bayreuth. Und das freut uns natürlich. Bayreuths Prachtstraße zur Zeit der Markgräfin Wilhelmine war die Friedrichstraße. Ein Palais reiht sich an das nächste und man könnte sich gut vorstellen, dass diese Straße eine schöne Filmkulisse sein könnte. Rechts sieht man übrigens die Pianomanufaktur Steingraeber, die die wohl besten Klaviere und Flügel überhaupt herstellt. Hoppla, was macht denn der Saurier da mitten in der Bayreuther Fußgängerzone? Ziemlich ungewöhnlich für eine Stadt, die weltberühmt ist für die Musik, das Opernhaus und das Festspielhaus. Die Erklärung ist ganz einfach. Mitten in der Stadt befindet sich das Urweltmuseum. Und die haben einen Saurier vor dem Haus stehen und ein paar andere im Garten. Fast derselbe Standort wie das Bild von gestern, aber in eine andere Richtung fotografiertVon einer der Brücken über den Canale Grande (Mühlkanal) oder vom Straßencafé aus hat man hier eine der klassischen Bayreuth-Ansichten vor sich. Es bietet sich ein herrlicher Blick auf die Schlossterrassen, die beiden Palais des Hofarchitekten Carl Philipp Christian von Gontard (1731-1791), das Alte Schloss und den achteckigen Schlossturm im Hintergrund. Von hier aus links sieht man übrigens auch die Opernstraße mit dem Markgräflichen Opernhaus und dem ehemaligen Redoutenhaus am Eck (Perspektive von der Tourist-Info aus). Das Palais links von der Schlosstreppe war das Wohnhaus des markgräflichen Hofbaumeisters Carl Gontard. Er hatte es 1759-1761 für sich selbst errichtet. Das Gontardhaus gilt als gutes Beispiel für den barocken Klassizismus. Heute beherbergt das Gebäude das Dekanat der katholischen Kirche.
