Leida hums in agreement. Surely neither of their absences have gone unnoticed. The commander and the outsider — one yet to wake, the other not in their rooms. She can only imagine the talk.

Last night was a night where the bullpen wasn't good. Annoyingly, they were not good against a team they should have been good against. The Cardinals are not good this year. They are a team screaming to be swept when playing them at home. With the AL East so unbelievably competitive, the Sox need to grab all the wins outside of the division they can. So, yeah, I guess you could say I am a little bit disappointed in the results from last night. However, it was not all bad. There are some significant bright sides.

James Paxton's return to the mound after roughly a decade recovering from Tommy John and assorted subsequent complications was great. He went five, gave up only two runs and struck out 9.
