for the music ask game— 2, 12, 64 (blue)?
Thanks for sending!
2 - Do you still buy CDs (or other physical media)?
Absolutely, it's the primary way by which I get new music still! The feeling of holding something physical in your hands, appreciating the artistic work put into designing album covers and liner notes, and being able to listen to an album all the way through in the order the artist intended, with no breaks or ads, is something that cannot be replaced. It's a tangible tether between artist and listener.
12. Who’s the most obscure artist you listen to?
haha, that's a great question because most of the music I listen to already is way off the mainstream, given that it's metal. Hmm... I would say Criss Angel, honestly. He's a well-known persona but how many people are aware he made electronic-industrial metal (? I honestly don't know how to categorize it) in the 90s that formed a concept album trilogy about the mythology of his off-Broadway show?? It was a fairly difficult set of albums to buy back like 15 years ago when I got them but now, I can imagine it's a Herculean effort to track them down - they're called the System Trilogy. They were highly influential albums for me in middle school, and I honestly still enjoy them to this day. He's very talented as a musician in my opinion.
64. [Send me a color and I’ll post an album cover art of that color.]

My Sister
Sam pulled up to a quaint single story house. Gluntz sat in the passenger seat with Molly in her arms, nursing her.
“You coming in once she’s finished?”, he asked.
“Mm-hm.”
“Okay.” Sam looks straight ahead and breaths out through his mouth.
He then glances up at the front door. Inside was his sister. His half-sister. His half-sister he didn’t know or remember existed until almost a month ago. Now the day had come to meet her once again. He takes another look at his girlfriend and daughter in the passenger seat. Gluntz looks up at him and gives him a reassuring smile. Then he gets out and walks up to the door.
Even Sam was a bit thrown off by the fact that he was so thrilled to see his mom again, but with his sister, he’s getting cold feet. The major difference was that he knew and remembered his mother pretty clearly; the memories were somewhat faint, but not nonexistent. But when it came to Melanie, he couldn’t remember much at all. The most concrete thing he did recall was seeing a little girl smiling at him. He never really thought much about that because, soon after, it was just him and his mom in East Flubria.
Nervously, Sam knocks on the door.
“Just a moment”, a woman’s voice said inside.
His nerves fired all at once, giving him goosebumps.
Tens seconds later, the door opened and Sam saw, at long last, his sister.
She had the same drooping ears all Knoxes had, like his friend Guy. Her fur was pale orange and she had wavy flowing locks of chocolate brown hair. Said hair was complimented with purple highlights like she was still in her rebellious phase (since she spent most of her life in a foster home, and we all know how those can be, that was a distinct possibility). She wore a teal blouse and jeans. Altogether, she had an aura of being casual and professional at the same time.
“Hi, Sam!”, she said excitedly. She held out her hand for a handshake, not sure whether she really wanted to shake or hug her brother.
Then Sam took her hand and rapidly shook it up and down.
“Hey, Melanie!”
When he was done, Melanie held her shoulder as if it were dislocated. “Glad you could make it. I was just about to get dinner started.” Her head turned ever so slightly to Sam’s right and noticed someone sitting in the passenger seat of his car. “Who’s that?”
“Oh, that’s my girlfriend Gluntz.”
Melanie squints her eyes. She gasps. “Is that…a baby?”
Sam smiles and shrugs. “Yep”, he says with a little giggle. “We just had her.”
His sister turns a full ninety degrees, puts her hands on her temples and lets out a soft but excited scream. “I’m an aunt too?! Pam never told me that!”
“She didn’t?”
“No!”
“Hmm. I guess she wanted you to be surprised.”
——
After Gluntz finished up with Molly, Melanie led them all inside the house. Its aforementioned quaint nature also helped give it a cozy feeling. The floor was covered in polyester carpeting. A fire was going in the hearth. The couch faced the television with a coffee table right in between, the top of which was littered with a child’s drawings. The living room merged into the dining room/kitchen. Melanie wasn’t kidding when she said she was just about to get dinner started; there was a whole array of vegetables laid out on a cutting board with an uncooked soy substitute for poultry.
“My husband and I are vegans. I hope you guys don’t mind.”
“Oh, no. I don’t”, said Sam.
“Me neither”, said Gluntz.
As Melanie began to tie an apron on herself, Sam noted to her, “I didn’t know you had a husband.”
“Oh! I was getting around to that.” She walks into the living room, pulls a picture off the mantle and hands it to Sam. “That’s him right there.”
It was a wedding photo of Melanie and her husband. He and Gluntz both looked at it for a good while. On the border on the bottom were the words: ‘Congratulations, Jack and Melanie!’ Sam looked at Jack in the picture: he had indigo fur with little jowls of excess fur on the sides of his mouth and his hands were pretty big compared to Melanie’s. He also noticed that his sister was pregnant in the picture; somewhere around her second weekmester by the looks of it.
That last detail combined with the drawings strewn about on the coffee table had a smile crossing over Sam’s face. “You have a child too?”
“Mm-hm. His name’s Terry.”
Gluntz nudges Sam’s shoulder. “You hear that? You’re an uncle too!”
“I know! This is exciting! Just keeps getting better!”
Melanie smiles. She was thankful her reunion with her brother wasn’t going wrong. “Now, you guys wait on the couch while I get dinner ready. I wanna see my niece too!”
As she returned to the kitchen, Gluntz and Sam sat themselves on the couch. Molly was stirring feebly in her mother’s arms, apparently having an escalating dream. Sam smiles looking at his little girl. Gluntz, very carefully, bounced her arms.
“Hey, Gluntz. Did Jack look familiar to you?”
“How can he? I’ve never met him before.”
“No, I mean, did he remind you of someone else?”
She paused to think for a second. “Umm,…no. I’m sorry. Who does he remind you of?”
“I can’t say either. I wanna ask Mel to be sure.”
“Well, just tell me. Who does he remind you of?”
Before Sam could say anything, there was the sound of a pot hitting the ground. It was so loud that it woke the baby up. Molly began crying and screaming.
“No no no, Molly! It’s okay. Mommy’s here”, Gluntz said, trying to calm her down.
“Sorry!”, Melanie shouted. She stopped what she was doing and came rushing over. “I’m so sorry…What’s her name again?”
“Molly”, Sam answered.
“I’m sorry, Molly. Auntie Melanie’s sorry she woke you.”
Molly didn’t stop crying.
Gluntz reached into her pocket and pulled out a pacifier. She coaxes it against the baby’s lips until it slips inside. That seemed to calm her down.
“Whew”, Sam sighed.
“Again, I’m really sorry”, Melanie apologized.
“It’s okay. It was just an accident.”
“Yeah. I’ll be back.”
“Wait!”, Gluntz rang out.
“Yes?”
“What’s Jack’s last name?”
“How come you ask?”
“Sam says he reminds him of someone we know.”
“Oh, okay then. His last name’s McWinkle.”
The couple’s eyes widen at once. “I knew it!”, Sam exclaimed.
“How do you know that name?”
“His father was my partner in the BADGUYS!”, Gluntz explained.
“You’re part of the BADGUYS?”, Melanie asked, now intrigued.
“Yeah!”
“And how do you know him, Sam?”
“Well…it’s kind of a long story”, he said with a chuckle.
——
After Melanie cooked dinner and they gorged themselves on a vegan dinner that Michellee would’ve had a coronary over, it was that good, Sam told his sister the whole story first with Mr. Jenkins, then the Moo-Lacka-Moo (Gluntz even adding her tangent with the cows for good measure) and, most recently, what happened in Whoville.
“So, in short, you released an endangered animal back to its home, prevented a feud from escalating to nuclear war AND stopped three men who had a grudge against you?”
“That’s pretty much it, yeah”, Sam answered. He did, however, not mention everything about Kyler Twotymer, since he is the one who partially dismembered him, cut his mom’s leg and, worst of all, killed their father. He didn’t want to reopen painful memories and spoil the evening.
“Wow.” That was all she could say. “You guys have quite the track record there.”
“You could say that again.”
“And you, Gluntz, still helped out even though you were pregnant?”
“Yeah. Didn’t wanna miss out that season”, she answered.
“What does that mean?”
“I don’t know. She says stuff like that from time to time”, Sam replied.
“Oh. Anything else?”
“Well, Mom’s dating Grinch now”, Sam continued, “then a few days ago, Gluntz had Molly. Your papa-in-law even showed up to congratulate her. That’s when he said that his son and you had a child not too long ago.”
“Definitely caught me off-guard”, Gluntz added.
“Hmm. What are the odds?”, Melanie pondered rhetorically.
“What does Jack do by the way?” Gluntz asked, trying to keep the conversation rolling.
“Ah. He’s a pilot. In fact, I think that he just touched down in Da-Dake yesterday.”
“That’s cool.”
“What’s Terry like?”, Sam asked with intrigue.
Melanie smiled at her brother. “He’s perfect! Only a year old and drawing’s his favorite hobby.” She gets up and picks up some of the papers from the coffee table and presents them to Sam and Gluntz. Even though they were indiscernible squiggles of color, they smiled upon seeing them.
“Wow! Tell Terry I said he’s quite the artist!”, Sam interjected.
“The next Picasso!”, Gluntz added.
“Why not tell him yourself?”
The couple stopped in their tracks. “We get to see him?”
“Yeah. If you would like to.”
Sam puts a hand over his mouth and tears begin to well up in his eyes. “Heck yes, I wanna see him!”
“Alright. I’ll be back.”
As she went down the hallway, Sam leaned back in his chair in excitement. Little Molly’s face lit up from watching her father and she makes an excited coo. Gluntz holds the baby’s little hand.
“You excited to see your cousin, Molly?” Sam asked in a baby talk-like voice. “I know I am.”
“I’m back”, said Melanie. She was carrying her little boy over her shoulder. At a year old, he was a tad big compared to Molly. Terry McWinkle had lilac fur, a crop of brown hair like his mother and was wearing red footie pajamas. “Well, Sam. Here’s your nephew!”
Terry was yawning as his mother held him in front of herself. “Okay, Terry. This is your Uncle Sam. Be a good boy now.” She hands him to Sam, who was beaming with emotion.
Gluntz raised her fists under her chin and said, “Aww… Look at him! He’s adorable!”
Melanie smiles and brushes a lock of hair behind her ear to get it out of her line of sight. Then she turns her head to her niece sitting in the high chair. The baby was leaning forward, reaching her hands out.
“Umm, you guys. Check out Molly.” The couple looks at their baby girl, watching as she excitedly reaches out to her cousin. “Do you wanna say hi to Terry, sweetie?”
Gluntz picked her up and brought her closer to the boy. She noticed Sam’s eyes shimmered with mesmerization. She realized he must’ve been thrilled to see his daughter and nephew in his line of sight all at once. “Say hi, Molly.” She took the baby’s hand and waved it for her.
Terry, in the meantime, had a blank look of bewilderment on his face. He turned around to face his own mother, who got up to join the group, and started babbling, “Ma ma ma.”
Melanie had her hands resting on the chairs as the sight of happy children and her guests filled her with delight. “Excuse me, Gluntz. Could I see Molly?”
“Sure!” She hands her Molly, whose gaze shifted from her cousin to her aunt.
Melanie smiled at her niece, twiddling her fingers in front of her. Little Molly’s attention was diverted to the movement in front of her eyes and she began grabbing at Melanie’s fingers. “You’re such a cutie, Molly”, she said in a soft voice. Poking out from behind her bow tie circlet was a small tuft of white hair. Since she mostly had the looks of Gluntz, Melanie assumed the hair was a trait from Sam, but he was wearing his hat, so she couldn’t get confirmation. “I love you.”
Molly made a little laugh. Sam heard her say that and smiled. His nephew was still quiet. Perhaps this was a testament to him being very well-behaved. Terry was smiling at him now.
“There’s that smile!”, Sam exclaimed in baby-talk. “I love you too, Terry.”
“Me too!”, Gluntz added.
——
Now back in the car, after telling Melanie that she, Terry and Jack were welcome to visit everyone else if they so pleased, Sam had just ignited the engine and his head was resting on the steering wheel, looking to the side at his two special girls. Molly was snoozing in Gluntz’s arms, exhausted from the long day.
This very thought was running through Sam’s mind after seeing Mel’s wedding photo. In fact, to be honest, it sat in the back of his mind since he found out he was gonna be a dad: Should Gluntz and I tie the knot? As he said back in Madame Vaneau’s house during circle time, “At least Guy and Michellee got married before having Junior”, that’s when he figured he was at least ninety-five percent sure he should go for it.
However, that remaining five percent was quite the vocal minority. But he had to realize that the only thing truly holding him back from popping the question was himself.
Then again, you never know until you try…
“What’re you thinking about, Sam?”, Gluntz asked, interrupting his train of thought.
“Huh? Just about…how much I love you. And how much I love being a dad.” He smiled. “Come on, let’s go home.”
And he backed out of the driveway, with Melanie waving goodbye from the front porch.

hi!! so im writing this thingey and i kinda need help with it. i don’t want to spoiler it too much, but i need to tell you a little about it. SO its an au where all the sides are like,,, part animal?? like depending in what kind of animal it is, they have different things related to it. like a bird person thingy (still dont have a name for them) would have wings, but also like feathers up their arms, down their back, some on their cheeks, etc. And going to a classic neko, they would have ears and a tail (duh) but also like whiskers, and like some bits of fur like at the elbows? or like up the arms like they have really hairy arms, idk. obviously janus’ is a snek, but for the others i kinda want it to be more unique, ya'know? like not what people usually make them. for example, rn romans is a peacock, that is’t something you see a lot, and if you do, it’s with logan cuz like blue indigo purple scheme, but i don’t really care about color schemes, just the meaning behind it, u get what im putting down? so like a peacock represents vanity and beauty, and i feel like roman would totally be showing off his feathers like, all of the time. i dont have the faintest clue what the others should be, but i do know that virgil and pattons are like,,, tropical ish? in some way?? and also that remus’ will be like sand/ desert-y, bc like janus’ is some desert snek, and they need to be together. logan is also with Roman but peacocks kinda are like everywhere, (i know definitely in Florida, but that’s a whole different story) so it doesn’t really matter what logans animal part is, as long as it’s like a forest dweller of sorts.
(im so sorry that this is so long!! i tried to put it in an ask, but it was too long 😅 u also dont have to answer if u dont want to 😊)
~~~~~
Me:
This is an amazing idea for an au and I love it. Here’s my ideas for the others.
If you’d like me to give example pictures of any of the suggested animals, just ask.
There’s a TL;DR at the bottom which is just a list of the character and example if that helps in any way.
Loving peacock Roman, it’s perfect. Keeping Logan and Roman together, I’d say use a bird for both rather than the area animals live in sonce peacocks are everywhere. Going with this, I’d say Logan goes as a blander patterned bird. Like, Roman is fancy and all, Logan I’d say should go as a bird that it maybe one colour - like a raven or something. There’s a lot of birds in the Corvid family that are black. If you want to go with a different group (since corvidae are known as the smart birds of the world) i’d say look for an eagle type (maybe the golden eagle). Here’s some other ideas for a bird Logan: Sparrow, Chaffinch, Stork. If you don’t want Logan to be a bird, here’s a few examples of animals that typically live in the same environments as peacocks: Raccoon, Mongoose, Tiger
I love the Remus and Janus are desert animals idea. Personally, I’d probably be able to give better ideas knowing what type of snake Janus is (then I can find some from the same desert that I think would be good), but I get that you might not know yet. (If you don’t have an idea of what type for Janus yet - Tiger Rattlesnake is cool). If you keep the reptile theme between them (like Pat and Virge are fish and I suggested Ro and Lo as birds) then I recommend the desert spiny lizard or the gecko. A lot of people see Remus as an octopus, I feel working with this a scorpian works.
Patton and Virgil as tropical fish *chef’s kiss*. I’ve not got as many ideas since I don’t know as many as with the others. Virgil I feel works as a Cichlid from the patterns. They come in a variety of colours including purple & black, black & white, yellow, and red. Patton I can see as a clown fish (they look very cool). I’d say the Black Saddle Back Clownfish, the Tomato Clownfish, or the Clarkii Clownfish. If you stick with a blue theme, the blue Molly fish is cool and works well in my eyes.
TL;DR:
Logan: Corvid bird, Eagle, Sparrow, Chaffinch, Storkm Raccoon, Mongoose, Tiger
Remus: Desert Spiny Lizard, Gecko, Scorpian
Virgil: Cichlid fish
Patton: Clownfish (Black Saddle Back Clownfish, Tomato Clownfish, or Clarkii Clownfish), Blue Molly fish.
Obvs not a drabble (but each segment is 175 words long).
Funerals are when one is buried in the hearts of those that know them.
Will Graham has four of them.
--
1. The first happens in a Baltimore hospital. Jack Crawford finds Molly Graham’s room. Her shoulder is still in a sling, and her son sleeps on the couch. The news is playing on mute. Molly’s eyes are somewhat puffy and she taps the TV remote on her thigh silently.
Jack’s coat still smells of the emergency flares and the spilled gas from the crash site. He takes a seat.
“It’s probably not a good idea that we talk right now,” Molly says.
He nods. The news show footage from what the band at the bottom of the screen calls a national manhunt. “Will told us to tell the media that he had assisted Hannibal in escaping.”
Molly shuts her eyes. “It’s kind of funny how you just phrased that,” she says.
A moment stretches, and as it dilates, Jack becomes dimly aware of the thing that will one day have grown into guilt. “Whatever happened,” is what he says, “I’m sure he wanted you to know that.”
“Really? Sounds like you wanted me to,” Molly says.
 --
2. The second takes place in some very dark waters.
“Be careful, alright?” his mother says.
Walter turns around. The wind breathes in the pines around the lake. It’s almost dawn. “Why? The ice is really thick,” he says.
Molly smiles. “Be careful anyway.”
Down the hole in the ice there are only some slivers of gray and indigo blue, then just dark things below. Walter opens the small polished, wooden box he has brought with him. He’s made sure they are all there. It’s snowed last week, but since then it’s been so cold that the snow is dry and rough. The lures shine on the ground.
Walter ties a weight to a fish line, and then he ties all the lures on it. It takes some time.
In total, there are seventeen lures. Walter puts the weight near the edge of the hole.
“You can say something if you’d like,” Molly says.
The boy shakes his head. He pushes the weight and watches the lure slide on the snow, then disappear in the water.
 --
3. The third is in Jack’s office.
Agents Price and Zeller are at the team’s meeting with the others. The only clue they have is the Hallmark’s birthday cards.
“With a key inside,” Jack repeats. “The key is found to lead to a locker. First was in a Kansas public pool. Second was in the MIT library. Last one was at an outfitter near the Canadian border. The locker has a map inside with a cross marking the location of a body.”
Jack paces in front of the pictures and the maps. He does not impose as much as he used to.
A muffled voice comes from the back. “Even Will Graham wouldn’t be able to figure this one out.”
Silence falls on the room. Zeller turns, but he can’t set his eyes on who’s said it.
Jack has heard. He stands very still. He doesn’t yell as much as he used to either.
Back at the lab, they pour themselves whisky in beakers. They toast over the third victim’s body. Neither of them says anything.
--
4. The fourth is featured in the tabloids.
“Agent Crawford. Agent Crawford!” Freddie Lounds calls out in the corridor. “Could Tattlecrime’s readers, by any chance, have a quote from you on the new room?”
Jack stops. “I was under the impression that you had been denied access to the opening, Miss Lounds,” he says.
Freddie Lounds gives Jack her widest smile. “Only to the press conference.”
The Evil Minds Museum is closed, only a few employees linger. Jack puts on his hat. “I can’t help you,” he says, over his shoulder. “You can say I didn’t agree with it.”
She fidgets with her camera, and returns to the entrance. To the new room that leads to all others.
Personally, she thinks it’s a bit overwhelming, but they went for realism, she figures. It’s a replica of Will Graham’s bedroom. Only it has better lighting. There are cards on the walls and furniture. The door to the kitchen leads the visitor to Hannibal Lecter’s kitchen. A nice touch.
But she’s certain Will Graham would also not agree.
Shelby and David’s wedding at Providence Hill Farm
Ever wonder what the wedding of a floral industry insider looks like? Well look no further than Shelby and David’s day at Providence Hill Farm. The bride’s sister, and owner of Tulip, filled the day with burgundy dahlias, apricot ranunculus, king preotea and romantic antique garden roses and accented with gorgeous rentals from Lovegood Wedding & Event Rentals. The details were completed with flea-market-finds by the mother-of-the-bride (think hundreds of antique glassware and brass candlesticks). Lucky for us, Beth Morgan Photography was on hand to capture all the lovely boho vibes.
What made the wedding special and unique?
Well for starters I work for a floral design company, Tulip Floral + Goods, and it was pretty special to be a part of something that I’ve become so passionate about. Burgundy dahlias, apricot ranunculus, king preotea, romantic antique garden roses were just a few of my favorites. So Lesley Frascogna, my mentor/best friend/sister & owner of Tulip made it happen. She absolutely knocked it out of the park with florals.
We tried to source a lot of the unique decor ourselves. My mom started thrift shopping the second I got engaged. I’m not joking when I say that everyday for almost a year she was in every single flea market remotely close to Jackson. She collected nearly 100 vintage colored drinking glasses & a ridiculous amount of brass candlesticks for the seated dinner at the reception. We indigo dyed table runners the day before the wedding because that’s just what you do, right? The rest of the unique pieces came from Lovegood. I knew from the moment I saw Lauren’s collection of beautiful furniture/decor that she was my answer for everything I envisioned on my wedding day. The antique rugs, lounge furniture, and handmade wooden tables played a huge role in the overall feel of the reception. It was a total dream.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I knew I wanted different. I knew I wanted long sleeve. So I was casually stalking Pinterest looking for wedding inspiration when I first found out about BHLDN. The rest is history. I immediately found the dress I wanted and wouldn’t even consider looking around at local dress shops. It was a dusty rose color. It had a high neckline. It had intricate beaded embellishments. It was the one. I made an appointment with a stylist for the following week. My mom, my sister, and I drove to the nearest BHLDN location in Atlanta and the rest really is history. (Adona Dress from BHLDN)
My bridesmaids all wore Show Me Your Mumu in different styles & colors. My bridesman wore a beautiful blue suit with a floral printed tie to match the wedding flowers.
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
Aside from all of the boho/antique touches, the thing that stands out the most to me is the ceremony & reception music. My husband and I are both huge music people. We followed a band all around the country at one point. (Note: We didn’t have our basset hound or bills to pay at the time). So music played a huge role in the feel of the entire day & night. I knew I did not want traditional wedding music. So I put together a playlist on Spotify for the ceremony music, which included Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Ray Charles. I walked down the aisle to Louis Armstrong’s version of La Vie En Rose. We had The Patrick Harkins Band out of Jackson, MS play at the reception. They even learned our first dance songs beforehand. Our first dance: Widespread Panic’s version of Genesis and the father daughter song: Bob Dylan’s slow version of Forever Young. It was so so special.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
The most memorable part of the day for me would probably have to be when our photographer (Beth Morgan) sneaked us away after our first look to take some pictures of just us two. I could never have imagined how intimate and special those moments would be. Simply just being together away from all of the wedding day chaos, and completely forgetting the camera was even there turned into pure magic.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met at a local outfitters shop here in Jackson. He sold me a pair of shoes and somehow got my number shortly after.
We planned a trip to Telluride, CO for a music festival in the summer of 2015. After a missed flight and a few minor meltdowns, we made it to Colorado. We pulled over at a rest stop overlooking a beautiful mountain range somewhere in Buena Vista, CO. Before I knew it he was on one knee asking me to do life with him forever. I laughed, he cried, and we celebrated with our favorite band in the cutest little mountain town.
