โ—Ž BOOK 001
CHUSEOK 2023 ( 093023 ) Blood is thicker than water ใ…ก but only sometimes.
The drive to the Lee family's not so humble abode is an intimidating one for those unaccustomed to the sort of lifestyle they live. A road leads to a region just outside of Seoul on the edge of Seongnam where the trees grow dense and the hills begin to crest. The location is at the behest of his father ใ…ก more accustom to his childhood upbringing in the countryside, despite his own family's accumulation of old wealth. And it masks his mother's request for her own spin on extravagance.
The homeใ…ก no, mansion can be seen if one looks up onto the hillside, earning it a mysterious ( and slightly ominous ) reputation from passerby's. What took five years of development and building became his mother's dream home. Not quite modern, leaning with her own touches on a luxury hanok with all the dรฉcor and meticulous landscaping fit for a queen's villa.
Although surrounded by lush greens and the fiery glow of the leaves turning for autumn, the warm atmosphere lends for something more uncomfortable on the inside. One step through the door, and the faรงade of perfection showed quite obvious cracks.
With the wide proximity between the home and roads or their neighbors half a mile away, few can hear the arguments nor the tantrums carried by the matriarch's voice. She flew into the occasion fit of rage when things did not go to her accordance.
The garden must be trimmed to perfection, elaborate pieces of artwork and sculptures were not to be touched, and the pond with her precious goldfish and turtles was entirely off limits.( Little did an 11 year old Hyunsoo know that exploring its depths to retrieve a lotus for her would result in such a severe punishment. His mother did not sully her own hand, noใ…ก she much rather command the groundskeeper to do so. The slap to his tender cheek, unaccustomed to the concept of violence, still stings when his eyes lay upon it. )
Even now, during a time meant for family peace and bonding, the tension within the dining room is palpable. Hyunsoo tastes it on his tongue when he breathes in.
Before him sits his older brother, Hyunbin, eyes bright as usual, coupled with a fleeting smile that he always seems to have. He rambles with a joyful tone about his new wife, of whom he had the pleasure of marrying in the spring. His mother expresses her pleasure with the arrangement, what with it being by her own hand. She makes sure to emphasize her victory with a glance to her husband who had never been quite so certain. Hyunsoo, however, is certain that despite Hyunbin's choice, she would have been accepting of the outcome. She sits adjacent to his brother, preening herself constantly, then brushing her fingers affectionately through his hair or dabbing a spare bit of food from his face. Even when he brushes her hand away and insists, "I am no longer a child", she smiles still, endeared unconditionally.
To Hyunbin's right is their younger sister, Miyoung. Her lips pressed to the side, she pushes around the japchae on her plate with a metal chopstick clutched in each dainty hand. Every so often, she would glance up at Hyunsoo and offer him a playful dart of her tongue, or nudge his foot underneath the table when she catches him losing attention. Her signature style of two 'space buns' is abandoned today for a more traditional maiden's braid cascading down her back. She scrolls through her phone to pass to her mother who merely sighs in response. The teen's face brightens when she motions to the miu miu purse she would like for her high school graduation next year ใ…ก her obsession with the brand fitting enough for her nickname of a similar phonetic sound.
Beside Hyunsoo, his father eats his dinner in relative silence, only occasionally nudging his son to bring him another plate of food from across the table. His appetite mirrors Hyunsoo's; especially fascinated with the taste of the songpyeon and dasik that are crafted into pretty shapes that he has no interest in. He idly drums his fingers on the table, playing a song on a piano no one else can see. His eyes can be seen traveling toward his wife every so often, and he huffs out a quiet snort when he realizes the extravagance of her hanbok and hair styling in comparison to the rest of them. When the meal finishes, he sits with his book in the corner of the room. His father is everything Hyunsoo would have become had he chosen to follow the path his mother laid out for him.
As for his motherโ€ฆ Well, she turns her focus on her middle child when the opportunity strikes, painted red lips turning into a thin smirk.
"Hyunsoo," she begins, tone condescending as ever. "you have not spoken a word. Is the rice flour too sticky?"
With her gaze finally on him, his father straightens his posture, eyes fixed back. "Well, I think it's lovely that each of us have our own goals. What an interesting and multi-talented family we've ended up with." Hyunsoo knows that tone, and a smile begins to push at the corners of his mouth but it is quick to fade when his mother retorts back.
He shakes his head in response. "N-No, itใ…ก W-well, I justใ…ก"
"N-no? W-Well, you justโ€ฆ what? You insist on not participating in our family time?" The imitation of his stammer earns a skeptical glance from Hyunbin toward her but her eyes ( eyes that grow wider with anticipation ) stick to Hyunsoo. "Is something else on your mind? I'm certain that must be it. You are doing a lot of things these daysโ€ฆ meeting new people, trying new things. It must be so overwhelming."
"Yes, it is. My scheduleโ€ฆ it is taking time to get used to. It can be difficult toใ…ก "
A chuckle from her cuts him off ใ…ก as it usually does. "Oh, do not complain. You are doing what you want. Had you remained focusing on piano, you would have so much more free time and certaintyโ€ฆ I would have supported you so much. But I suppose we all choose our own path, so one must deal with the consequences of it. Isn't that right, honey?"
"Lovely? The child barely spends time with us anymore, Minjae. A growing boy needs his motherใ…ก needs his family. If that company of yours had not insisted you move into those dormsโ€ฆ" She clicks her tongue in clear frustration. "Did it really make you happy? Living with unruly, strange boys you never met before in a small room? You have no friends in them. All you do now is spend time at your apartment because of it. Why don't you move in with us now that you can? It would be good for me. I can reconnect with my son."
Her hands fold in front of her. "You have been spending so much time with that little girlfriend of yours, too. Do you like her more than me now? Minseo is so pleasant. I do not blame you, but the least you could doใ…ก"
( And if she knew of their deceitful relationship? )
"Come now, darling," her husband waves his hand dismissively, inflection intentionally light ( facetious in a way she still cannot detect ). "He is an adult now. There are many things he is learning on his own now. We've raised another amazing son."
Hyunsoo furrowed his brows, pensive eyes examining the swirls on the empty porcelain plate before him. His throat tightens and he swallows with a visible grimace. Their voices carry in a conversation that fails to register, what with his ears beginning to ring. It only takes another utterance from his mother of 'my child' for him to raise in his seat.
She notices quickly, turning his head toward him again. "What are you doing? Sit down. It is rude toใ…ก"
"I do not want to."
"What? Stop speaking nonsense. Sit and finish your meal. The chefs are preparing your favoriteใ…ก"
"I said... I do not want to. Mother." Hyunsoo's firm voice is clear of any tremors. He is certain in his decision to assert himself, even if it means earning an incredulous look.
"You do not speak to your older brother that way. Every word out of your mouth tonight has beenโ€ฆใ…ก You have always been so insolent! Have some respect." Their mother stands, fists tightly clenched inside her long silk sleeves. Her voice escalates into a shrill "Sit. Now."
Hyunbin interjects, preparing to stand as well. "Hyunsoo, come on. Dinner isn't finished yet. We'll talk about something else."
"No!" Hyunsoo retorts with a shake of his head. His eyes fall to his hands: empty, cold. "You can sit here if you like and listen to the typical and be the better son all you want. I am sure like it so much, don't you? They've never argued over you."
"I said no," he does not mince his words, allowing them to fall out without filtration. "I do everything wrong anyway. Nothing will ever be good enough for you! And so, I will notโ€ฆ I will not subject myself to this torment anymore. I am not a puppet nor a toy! I am a person just like Hyunbin. Your sonโ€ฆ"
She stomps around the table to face him. With her short stature, she only comes level to his chest, but the fury she possesses puts him a step back. "Then say it. Say what you mean." He turns his head away to avoid her rage laden gaze. "Look at me when I am talking to you."
He falls silent, eyes glazing over with a feeling he has grown complacent with being encompassed by.
Hyunsoo stands still until an arm wraps around his torso to urge him away. He briefly snaps out of his daze to glance at his sister who now sits alone at the table. She sinks back into her seat, burying her head in her hands.
"Nothing to say now? I know what you are thinkingโ€ฆ That you never loved me. You hate your own mother! You would rather see me dead than happy! And then when I die, you will realize what you did to me!"
Her hand raises. The frail bones her fingers are made of crack and shake as they straighten. Around her wrist snakes the large, calloused hand of his father's, calmly urging it back to her side. She struggles against his grip, her movements more suited to an upset toddler than a grown woman.
"Everything! I give you everything! A beautiful place to live, nice clothing, your life. And this is how you treat me?!"
The sound of his mother's voice carries from the dining room into the halls, even as he hurries toward his bedroom in the other wing of the house. He comes to the quick realization that his guide is his older brother. He shrugs out of his grip, moving toward the suitcase placed in the middle of his bed.
"What are you doing?" Hyunbin stands in the doorway, arms folded. His eyes dart around the bedroom that, rather than being preserved when Hyunsoo left like his own, had been turned into yet another guest room.
"I need to get out of hereโ€ฆ and never come back."
Hyunbin sighs, "You know that's not going to fix anything. Running from things."
"And staying would? What would I doโ€ฆ? Apologize? I've run the word 'sorry' dry when it comes to her. It only makes her think that it's acceptable."
"Thenโ€ฆ I'm sorry, Hyunsoo. I didn't thinkใ…ก"
"Didn't think what? That it would escalate to this point? You're blind if you didn't anticipate this years agoโ€ฆ This house is full of complacent statues that do her bidding because they're too scared of her reaction. Not me. I do not care what she has to say anymoreโ€ฆ"
"I know more than you think. I know how she isโ€ฆ"
"Then why are you so content to let her get away with it? What aboutโ€ฆ What about how I feel?" Hyunsoo's voice finally breaks. He is unable to stop the tears from brimming his eyes, and he turns away from his brother's attempt for an embrace.
"You're a real fool sometimesโ€ฆ You're the one who can't see things when they're right in front of you," Hyunbin's brows meet with a wrinkle between them. He can only huff out a laugh of disbelief. "I won't force you to stay. Just know there's people in this house who do care about you."
Hyunsoo stops rifling through his clothing to glance back at him. Finally, he willingly falls into his brother's arms, voice muffling against his chest.
"It doesn't feel like it."

in which Hyunsoo uses a gloomy day to play a game he hasn't in a while
Hyunsoo directs his gaze out the window, watching as raindrops cascade down the glass in translucent threads. It's one of those dreary days where the sky blends into the grey of the concrete jungle below him. But for someone like him ( introverted, with a preference for indoor activity ), this weather is something of a blessing in disguise. It means a day spent inside, ordering something tasty to eat, listening to the calming sounds.
"Hello, everyone," he addresses the camera with a shy smile, hand lifted in a partial wave. It is clear he's just woken up, hair out of sorts and his glasses on. "It's rookie actor, Lee Hyunsoo! Welcome back to my channel... Today... Well, it's raining outside! Quite a lot, too. I decided that it would be the perfect time to film something and play some games on a day like this. You can leave in the comments what sort of things you enjoy doing on a rainy day..."
Hyunsoo turns on his console and settles onto his couch, the soft glow of the screen illuminating his face. The rest of the room is dim with the sky so dark. He pushes his lips out with a contemplative hum, scrolling through his game gallery until he settles on Persona 5. The soothing music from the opening screen has him sighing with contentment.
"It has honestly been a while since I played this so it might feel like a new game all over again, but... isn't it a great game for just chilling? Besides, I really enjoy the music and the aesthetic of it is a lot of fun. It makes me feel like I'm not sitting in a gloomy day. Next time, I really want to play the remastered version of Persona 3 for you all. I have heard nothing but good things so far..."
After rambling, he remains quiet for some time, watching the opening cutscene unfold and the mystery of plot as things don't seem so good for the protagonist as he is being questioned by the police, and the scenes give way to him moving and joining a new school.
"I'm quite honestly not so sure what I would do in this sort of situation... It seems rather bleak for him but maybe I will play this time with a sort of determination?"
He navigates through the game with relative ease, occasionally narrating the character's dialogue with his soft-spoken cadence. ( Call it a bit of renewed confidence given his voice acting courses, but he eventually gives up after his inability to not laugh at himself throughout. )

-ห‹ห VIDEOGOMDORI โ—ก EP. 08
in which Hyunsoo visits his favorite pc cafe and has some tasty treats
Hyunsoo fidgets with his camera, adjusting the angle to get the perfect shot โ€” something he has not quite mastered even still. He plucks nervously at the the strap of his camera bag as he steps into the bustling streets in search of his destination. The air fills with the scent of street food and the chatter of locals he has grown so used to by now. Despite the familiar surroundings, Hyunsoo's heart races with a certain apprehension. Becoming accustomed to the concept of vlogging and filming his activities has been something of a challenge, but he is determined to share his passion with those who would bother giving his silly little interests a passing glance.
"Hello, it's rookie actor Lee Hyunsoo," he greets his viewers with a shy smile and a tepid wave into the camera, his voice low. ( Speaking to no one in a busy street is enough to make his palms sweat. ) "Today, I'm taking you to the PC Bang I've been going to since I was a trainee. Follow me!"
One transition later and he steps into the bustling cafรฉ. Rows of high-powered computers line the walls and fill the space in rows, many occupied by eager gamers lost in their virtual worlds. Hyunsoo navigates through the maze of tables to the spot he most often makes himself at home. His finger presses against the teddy bear sticker against the glass of the computer tower.
"This... is where I usually sit," he sinks into the chair and sets the camera down to spread his arms out. "It's quieter, and I can focus a lot better on my game."
He settles down with a contented sigh, firing up a game with practiced ease. Any observant viewers would recognize League of Legends booting up. As he plays, he narrates his strategies and shares tips with his audience, even pointing to his favorite characters either based on appearance or skill. Despite his soft-spoken nature, his passion for the hobby shines through in every word.
"Now, let me show you the other games I love to play," he says, gesturing to the screen while he waits for his next round. "This one is a classic that I've been interested in lately called Terraria. And over here is a fast-paced shooter that always gets my heart racing, honestly... I can't play it too much these days."
Between matches, Hyunsoo takes a break to order some food from the quick menu. He recommends dishes, describing each with mouth-watering detail. "You can't go wrong with the spicy chicken... And the cheese tteokbeokki is one of the best I have had in Seoul by far. Trust me, you won't regret trying it. This time, I'll order neoguri and the sausage and tteok skewers."
After devouring his meal, Hyunsoo dives back into his games with renewed vigor. Time seems to fly by as he immerses himself. With each victory and failure, he gives sheepish grins to the camera.
Hyunsoo's allotted time eventually runs out on his timer, ringing in at a total of two hours that seems to have gone by in a blink. It is hard to believe that it would eventually be edited into a condensed series of clips after he sends it off. He leans in closer and sighs,
"Thanks for joining me today, everyone. I hope you enjoyed seeing my favorite PC Bang as much as I did sharing it with you. I'm sure the owners would really appreciate it if you stopped by... but remember not to take my seat, alright? It's important to me!" He teases the audience with a snort and a playful scrunch of his nose.

๐“๐‡๐„ ๐’๐”๐Œ๐Œ๐Ž๐๐ˆ๐๐† โธป a tale of horror
SUMMARY : Set in 1999, a group of college students summons a spirit during a party, seemingly resulting in the untimely death of their friend. They work together to solve the mystery of what happened, only to find that the explanation of spirits masks something far more sinister and telling about human nature.
In the fading light of a chilly autumn evening, Yoo Minhyuk returned to university life after his military service. Despite his confident demeanor, he remained a loner, finding solace in the pages of his books and the vast expanse of the sea that he studied. Yet, when invited to a party through a mutual connection, he found himself drawn into a web of intrigue and tragedy that would change his life forever.
At the heart of the mystery stood Shin Hana, a figure from Minhyuk's past, their history intertwined with bittersweet memories of high school romance. As they gathered with their peers, including the enigmatic drop-out Kang Kitae and the softly spoken Nam Jiyeon, the atmosphere crackled with anticipation.
It was Jiyeon who proposed the idea of summoning a spirit, her fascination with the supernatural veiled beneath her quiet demeanor. Eager to impress her and perhaps seek closure with Hana, Minhyuk reluctantly agreed to participate.
But as the ritual unfolded, dread descended upon the room. In the chaos that ensued, Hana vanished, leaving behind only whispers of her fate and a trail of red . Accusations flew, fingers pointed, and amidst the turmoil, Minhyuk found himself falsely accused, his stoic silence only fueling suspicion.
Determined to clear his name and uncover the truth, Minhyuk embarked on a quest for answers, enlisting the help of his unlikely companions. Kitae, with his world-weary facade and penchant for the occult, offered begrudging assistance, while Jiyeon, torn between loyalty to her father's teachings and her own forbidden desires, grappled with guilt.
Together, they delved into the shadowy underbelly of their university town, where rumors of spirits and ancient evils lurked in the darkness. With each revelation, they peeled back layers of deception, until finally, they unearthed the chilling truth.
It was not a spirit they had summoned that fateful night, but something far more insidious โ€” they stumbled upon a revelation that shattered their understanding of reality: Hana had been dead all along, her demise a tragic accident hidden in the depths of Jiyeon's fractured memory. Hana merely walked the earth for a short time, leaving clues in her wake to the hidden cause of her untimely death.
As they confronted the darkness that claimed Hana, they realized that the true horror lay not in the supernatural, but in the depths of human depravity.
With the help of their devoted professor, Mr. Choi, they pieced together the puzzle, unraveling the sinister web of lies that had ensnared them all. And as the dawn broke on a new day, Minhyuk stood tall, his name cleared, his resolve unbroken, and his heart heavy with the weight of lost love and newfound understanding.

SUMMARY : Set in 1999, a group of college students summons a spirit during a party, resulting in the disappearance of their friend. They work together to solve the mystery of what happened, only to find that the explanation of spirits and supernatural meddling masks something far more sinister and telling about human nature.
YOO MINHYUK ( MAIN ROLE )
23 YEARS OLD ; a young man who has returned from his military service to resume university. He is determined, intelligent and confident. He is falsely accused of being the cause of her disappearance and works to absolve himself of it.
KANG KITAE ( LEAD ROLE )
21 YEARS OLD ; a recent drop-out who still hangs around the group. He looks and acts much older than he actually is and has quite the addiction to cigarettes. MR. CHOI ( SUPPORTING ROLE )
54 YEARS OLD ; a tenured mythology professor at the university. He is a well put together man and takes special interest in making his lessons fun and engaging. When he learns of the mysterious death of Hana, he jumps in to help his students solve it.

โธปย LOVE MONTH 2K24 ย / ย appreciation gift
When it comes to giving gifts, Hyunsoo fancies himself something of a professional in the art. It is one of the love languages he understands the appreciation toward ( particularly when he isn't able to give the person in question words of affirmation or a simple hug ). He does not pride himself on his generosity. Rather, he enjoys seeing the sparkle in someone's eye when they receive a neatly wrapped box, understanding that the feeling is something so good and positive.
Hyunsoo looks into what would be the best gift for Kim Dongsun with diligence and detail. He observes some of his habits, his personality, what he may wear often that any can see a pattern if they watch long enough. He concludes that his manager is an active man who is constantly on the go, and in need of a gift that would offer him comfort among the hectic schedules and whatever else he may have going on in his daily life.
As usual, he spares no expense, paying little attention to any price tags or what his manager's preferred limit may be. He wants to express his appreciation in an accurate way. ( Even if it could end up being overwhelming for some when they inevitably discover the price tag. ) And with the man's birthday also coming soon, Hyunsoo didn't mind putting in the extra effort to make him feel appreciated for both special holidays.
First and foremost, he decides to buy him a sweater. A fair isle pattern in a fern green, the material a soft and reliable wool, it is a piece he can wear while the weather is still cold and keep with him for a long time.
Next, he purchases a gift box with a variety of goodies inside for relaxation and self-care when his manager finally gets some downtime. Complete with a pair of wool and cashmere socks, a candle, products to keep skin from drying, and creme brulee and earl grey chocolate bars. In it, he includes a handwritten card expressing his gratitude for the hard work the man has done for him over the past nine months.

You are cordially invited. Held on February 2nd, 2002.
โธป ๊ณ ๊ตฌ๋งˆ ๋ผ๋–ผ ; korean honey sweet potato pureed with milk and steamed, topped with a creamy layer of sweet foam, a sprinkle of candied walnuts, and a dusting of cinnamon; caffeine free
โธป ๋ถ•์–ด๋นต ; simple carp bread filled with a smooth vanilla custard with a sweet red bean paste swirl; served warm.
Lee Hyunsoo experiences an undeniable excitement on his birthday. He is thankful to be aliveโ€”grateful for having another day to feel the earth beneath his feet. ( And he knows years ago he wished he could not. ) He always smiles when the clock turns to midnight; just enough to put the small dimple by the corner of his mouth on display. With each year he grows older, he feels his fingers claw the dirt overhead away. He reaches for freedom.
But he pauses in his jubilation when he follows his manager into the filming location. Cameras point at him, draw his vision to the pristine marble countertop in the middle of the kitchen. He offers a stiff bow to both the baker and the barista, hiding his briefly nervous expression with the dipping of his head.
"Hello, everyone," he croaks out alongside a nervous chuckle. He keeps his hands at his sides and shuffles to stand at the marker on the floor. "I am here today to make a nice menu for those of you who are graciously giving me your support this whole time!" The concept of having fans in the first place goes well beyond his capable comprehension. He understands how, but fails to grasp the true reason why.
"Instead of trying to... come up with something new, I would like to share two items that bring me the most comfort, especially during this time of year," placing hands behind his back, he offers a serene smile to the camera. "I think that simple is best."
That is not without saying there will be a touch more flair to itโ€”his own little twist that adds more of a hint of his ideas.
He starts things off with the beverage. He opts for a drink that would be free of any caffeine but taste just as smooth as a standard latte. It is a bit of a staple to his winter days.
"Goguma lattes have become a bit popular. They have a unique, comforting taste and it really does taste like biting into a freshly grilled sweet potato," even now, his mouth waters at the thought. "For this one, we decided to use a honey sweet potato for a richer taste. It will be pureed and steamed with milk. Then, when it's all prepared, it will be topped with a thin layer of sweet foam with a sprinkle of cinnamon and candied walnuts!"
After moving aside for the barista to allow her to show off the finished product. He would take a sip later when it cools off a bit more.
"Next is something I consider to be my favorite food... bungeoppang!" His stomach rumbles at the thought, the smell of the batter cooking. He covers it up with a tepid clap. "It is incredibly versatile. For this option, my favorite filling flavor, vanilla custard, will be mixed with an extra smooth sweet red bean paste. When you bite into it, it will be very satisfying and rich. I guarantee leaving the birthday cafe will have you feeling full!"
A nervous laugh escapes him as he drifts closer to the chef. It's notable that his eyes are intense watching him pry one of the fish shaped breads from the press. He can only stand still while he pulls it apart, greeted with the pillowy shell. When offered a piece, he rather enthusiastically grabs for it and takes a bite. His eyes brighten, and he nearly forgoes his calm composure.
Hyunsoo has gotten lost in the moment. He clears his throat and turns back to his task at hand before giving a polite bow.
"Thank you for being with me up until now. For everyone who is supporting me and graciously celebrating my birthday, if you do decide to attend the event, make sure you are safe and to have fun. Um..." His eyes drift to the items. "Please enjoy the items I picked out! I hope you will be able to have this be a nice memory like I will."
And with that, he offers a wave to the camera.
"Thank you for loving me."

โธป LGC RETREAT PT. 2 / interview
Hyunsoo sits with an ... awkward smile. He is a bit fidgety โ€” still a bit on edge from the hectic day he left behind not too long ago. Fortunately for him, he does not have to sit in silence for too long before they begin with questions.
โ€œOut of all of the games that were played today, which one was your favorite?โ€
"Hmm, well... I'm partial to trivia, so I think that I liked the Breakfast Quiz... but I was incredibly hungry by the end. Of course, I knew the largest moon of Jupiter is Ganymede, but I froze up, in the end. It was fun answering the questions that I knew from the sidelines..." He clears his throat, forgoing his embarrassment for getting such an obvious question wrong. "Protect Your Item... Well, let's just say during that game, I learned more about the nature of humans when they want to win..."
โ€œDid you have any memorable moments during leisure time? If so, can you explain a bit more about what made it memorable to you?"
"The food, of course! It was unique they had so many dishes with the black garlic. I really wanted to try them all. I made sure to take some with me while we drove to the cave." Hyunsoo very well could have only spoken about the market with the swaths of delicious food and drinks or the quiet cave. Instead, something else lingered in his mind more presently. "But there's one thing. The skywalk... Though, not really a positive memory, that's for sure!" He sighs. "My palms are getting sweaty just thinking about it... but, I'm glad I had other people there who were willing to help me through it. I'm glad it was enough time after we visited the market, because I'm not so sure if I would have been ending the day without a total disaster..."
They quickly move on to the next question. "What is one thing that you would like to take away from this experience?"
"Well... it's certainly good to always be trying new things! Frankly, I'm more of an introvert, so having so many activities packed into a few days was a bit overwhelming at times, but it really forced me out of my comfort zone, like I said before! And I'm being... myself? Being myself in front of a camera instead of a character is something that I'm still not super used to yet. This definitely gave me some experience with that. Especially if I have to go on any variety shows in the future!"

-ห‹ห VIDEOGOMDORI โ—ก EP. 06
in which Hyunsoo talks his older brother's retro game collection (and somehow beats him at Mario Kart 64)
In Hyunsoo's pursuit of leaving his apartment more and more, he eventually finds himself short on ideas already. Although, it is, in reality, his hesitancy to socialize and go beyond his comfort zone. He reaches out at a reasonable distance, despite the success of the previous episode. With the holiday season in full swing, he thought it no better idea than to take a visit to his brother โ€” and with a gift in tow. He was never much of one for Christmas, nor the rest of his family, but it is still something of a symbolic gesture, given what had been happening behind the scenes between the two of them as of late. Hyunbin was gracious enough to forgive his mistakes.
He holds the gift up toward the camera, waving shortly after. The tone he starts his introduction with is his usual plain one, but, today, there is a hint of nerves that become quite palpable the more he speaks. "Hello! It's rookie actor Lee Hyunsoo..." He wonders how much longer he would have to put 'rookie' in front of the title. Oh, the thought of it makes him kind of nauseous. Best not to think about that!
"Today, I'm taking a visit to my older brother. Why is that? He has a retro game collection!" He gestures vaguely, with the full intent to put pictures of it across the screen. "Nintendo is mostly what he's collected, but I went ahead and bought him a Sega Genesis for Christmas. When we were younger, he used to like this sort of thing, too. I find it really interesting in comparison to my computer, for example."
He chuckles, abruptly stopping his talking when he rounds the corner and runs into people. The camera cuts off for a moment, returning to a red-eared Hyunsoo with a lopsided smile. "A-anyway, we're here at his place..." There is, of course, a heavy amount of blurry and cut shots to omit potentially revealing the location of his residence. "Ah, filming in public is a bit embarrassing."
Clearing his throat, he eventually makes his way into his other brother's home. It seems to be a rather nice ( and large ) stand-alone house with large windows opening to a veranda. But it is as much as he shows before it cuts to them in another room.
"What's this?" His brother can be heard off frame, coupled with the crinkling of paper as he opens his gift. What comes after is a series of censored words and Hyunsoo panickingโ€”just a tad.
The scenes that follow involve the two of them discussing the gaming console already set up; namely, the Nintendo 64 hooked up to the television. On the other side of the room are several old school arcade machines. Hyunbin playfully insists that they play a round of a game he still enjoys playingโ€”Mario Kart 64โ€”before he has to go. Much to both of their surprise, Hyunsoo ends up winning three out of the five rounds they play.

โธป YEAR END 2023 / review
what were some of your greatest accomplishments this year and out of all of them, which one was the most memorable one for you?
"Honestly, I debuted... with a main role in Nova's web drama, at that. It was immensely memorable for me. I did not expect to be tossed out into the limelight so quickly with a role I think was important to establishing my place in this industry. Not only that, but I got to act in a show that actually played on television. So many eyes on the projects I've been in... I even received an award at AAA with an audience that huge and I got to travel overseas. I even got nominated for an award, too, which I feel is an accomplishment in itself. It has been so surreal. I am not sure how to tackle of it just yet. Perhaps when my career reaches a year long run next year, I will actually be able to process what happened."
what areas do you think youโ€™ve personally improved on since the beginning of this year?
"So far, I haven't really been focusing too much on improving things, just doing well. However, I do think that I enhanced my ability to engage with others and present things in a more meaningful way... without stumbling over my words! Public speaking, I guess you could call it. In terms of hosting my own YouTube channel series and being part of a show that was more comedy and variety oriented, I have improved, I think."
what are some of your personal goals for 2024?
"I would like to finally accept the fact that I am in the public eye. There's a lot of initial anxiety that comes with... all of this. It's something I have a difficult time shaking off. Mostly, I want to immerse myself into interesting acting projects so I don't have to worry about all of that so much. I would very much so like to be in more projects, maybe have another main role so I can prove that I am not limited to just one sort of character or one genre. My biggest worry is ending up typecast. Ah, and I would like to pursue tending to plants! I've always been interested in that."
out of all of the actors, what do you think makes you stand out from all of them?
"I acknowledge that it is rather self-deprecating to think this... but I do not think that I actually stand out at all. I don't feel my appearance is particularly unique or that I have a different voice or any signature that sets me apart from anyone else. There will always be people better than me, that's what my dad would always say. Exceeding at one's task is better than sticking out... but... if I can think of one thing? Maybe my physique? It's something I've worked hard on so I can eventually get more interesting roles. Does that count?"
aside from your main career path, are there any types of gigs outside of it that you would be interested in doing in the future?
"I have to think about that one... Hm... oh! Well, the first one that comes to mind is hosting. I want to be able to develop my confidence this way. Something like... a weekly music show, then eventually an award show once I get the experience. Commercials, too, I would like to do. My goal is to model banana milk at least once. I have to stay on theme! As for anything else... nothing really comes to mind. Though, perhaps, one day... I could sing an OST for a drama or movie that I am in. Maybe I could then see that I can confront music without it being so nerve-wracking."

โธป CASTING CALL 015 / audition
There is a certain similarity to Oh Gyeongtae from Bad and Crazy that Hyunsoo hasโ€”or perhaps it is more rooted in aspiration. This character is a young and determined police offer that dedicates his life to the cause of justice in a fair and benevolent way.
His pursuit of helping a child in her search for her missing mother is one that, while done with good intent, uncovers a slew of sinister plots done by the perpetrator. His careless quest for solving the case no matter what to bring this little girl closure results in so much agony ( physical and otherwise ) and yet he remains undeterred in his fight for what is right.
It is through his discovery that the driving point of the storyline kicks off. He is there along the way alongside the main character and changes as a person throughout the story, turning into someone with more self-determination and confidence to pursue justice than beforeโ€”even if it means putting on a tough act. Even so, he is soft inside and pure with his intentions.
Hyunsoo is very much so interested in portraying characters of this nature, inspired by their actions and ceaseless will in the face of dangerโ€”even if it results in many near-death experiences and subsequent injury. A good-natured rookie cop who will not stop no matter what. Underestimated due to his kindness and sincerity. Plays by the rules, but is not afraid to bend then when it means bringing victims the justice that they deserve.
He has also built up his physique in pursuit of these sorts of roles; thrillers at the top of his list with what he craves to be a part of. Given his young age, he understands that there are still certain limitations for what he can be cast for at the moment but portraying a starry-eyed, fresh-out-of-the-academy police officer or burgeoning detective is a dream role of his. Through parts like this, he wants to contribute to the storyline and add someone the viewers can root for and look to as a beacon of hope in a dark story. Even if bad things may happen to him.

ใ…ก BANANA DIVISION / character creation
Choi Jihoon is a 20 year old, fresh-faced intern who is overly enthusiastic about his job. As a part of the pursuit of his marketing major degree, he has decided to join the internship program. Originally, he is from a small town and decided to move to Seoul for university for a taste of the big city life. However, he has still maintained his small town charm and outlook. He goes about life at his own pace, striving to stop by to smell the flowers and greet everyone along the way.
He is clumsy and he can always be seen either running into things, spilling coffee, or dropping papers. However, he has a go-getter attitude and is determined to do well no matter what. Perhaps his optimistic nature can be a tad annoying to others working in the office. He can often be heard muttering an enthusiastic 'fighting!!' to any coworker who appears to be down in the dumps or seemingly overwhelmed by a project. When he is undergoing stress, he will do it to himself in the mirror but when it becomes too much he can be found performing Tai Chi to calm his mind. In the heat of the moment, however, he stumbles over his words and laughs nervously.
He is interested in graphic design and drawing, as his father ( allegedly of whom has been quite a lot of things including a firefighter, nurse, and fisherman ) used to be a talented manhwa artist. Unfortunately for Jihoon, his excitement does not reflect his skill whatsoever. He is determined to get his idea of a cute cartoon monkey mascot named Soong through to corporate by the end of his internship.
Despite his jovial personality, he is surprisingly susceptible to becoming a purveyor of gossip, listening intently to what others say about each other or their gripes about their job. He has quite a bit of random snippets of information that he keeps to himself but he has the propensity to reveal them rather easily and he has a difficult time controlling his voice's volume when surprised. Of course, he always means well.

-ห‹ห VIDEOGOMDORI โ—ก EP. 05
in which Hyunsoo becomes an E-Sports player for the day
With more episodes lingering over the horizon for Hyunsoo's YouTube channel, his mind finally begins to brew with more and more ideas. He thinks back, realizing each episode so far directly involved him staying cooped up inside the entire time. Although his introverted nature greatly preferred to do so, there is a compromise made within his head the more he starts to craft outlines for what comes next. Viewers may become utterly bored from him being in such a stagnant setting. And so, he ventures outside, squinting at the camera when he finally steps into the sunshineโ€” Well, not particularly anymore. The sky has a vague grey hue to it these days. Winter has finally fallen over the city of Seoul. He grits his teeth and shivers.
"Hello! This is rookie actor Lee Hyunsoo," he doesn't forget his add-on. "Today, as you can see, we are getting out of the house... I-I know, I know. Quite shocking, is it not? Well, I had this desire to do something a tad different. Although, if you all prefer my homebody vlogs, then say so and I will do more of them!" A caption appears on the screen that reads: Staying home is my happy place these days.
"Today, I will be going somewhere special. Care to follow me?" Perhaps he is getting a bit better with the video editing. Although, he cannot help but wonder if the cuts and additional effects on screen a bit too much right away. He did not want to appear too manufactured.
The video cuts to him in front of building, and he walks inside. "I'm here at Chungang University, and I am going to interact with the students who are majoring in something called 'sports science'. They are burgeoning e-sports players and.." he nearly trips up the stairs. "They will walk by me how everything is done!"
When Hyunsoo walks into the room, he gasps in awe, immediately panning over the high quality computers on the desks. In front of them are extra cushion-y gaming chairs. "Wah... It's just like a PC Bang?" A voice from off camera chuckles before confirming his observation. The two have a brief conversation about the quality of the desktop machines, Hyunsoo marveling over the keyboard and gaming mouse.
"Admittedly... I usually play a lot of single-player games... But Starcraft II and LoL are both things I'm alright at. I'm getting better at shooting games. Maybe you can teach me how to be as good as you."
The other players nod. Some of them answer questions from Hyunsoo when he inquires about their aspirations and what they hope to accomplish by going further into the world of e-sports. His face notably lights up when he listens to each of them. Eventually, they boot up several games to give him a run-through experience of what it is like to work on a team. They all get rather serious, Hyunsoo, himself, getting rather immersed in the games despite not being quite as good as those making gaming their career.

ใ…ก HALLOWEEN 2K23 / GINGERBREAD VILLAGE
The universe is mocking Lee Hyunsoo. He becomes convinced when he is presented with distinguishing between fake and real food in the room. The act brings him back to a certain incident involving his good friend in Fabula and the sound of her musical laughter in his ears. Imitation fried chickenโ€”now, imitation cookies and tiny finger foods. His shoulders deflate when he bites into the third bat shapes macaroon and he is able to venture into the next room.
His eyes light up when they fall on the extravagant display laid out before him. An island of gingerbread housesโ€”some done up in adornments from previous guests, most of them still empty and waiting to be done up with a personal touch. In front of the next one is an array of different decoration options that he cannot help but find impressive in terms of scale alone.
"Wow..." he marvels quietly. "The staff must have spent a lot of time on this."
He steps toward an empty one and grabs an array of different icings, lugging one small bucket of 'candy' pieces along with him. He paints the sides of it with dark purple stripes of icing, lining the roof with black swoops and the addition of spiderwebs, bats, and other sprinkles he picked up. He includes a door, crumbling off bits to give it the appearance of it rotting.
While he decorates, he grabs what appears to be a candy corn and attempts to sneak in a bite of it.
"No... Oh no..." The bitter taste of something inedible touches his tongue. He grimaces rather visibly.
Much to Hyunsoo's dismay, his suspicions are true: the universe is indeed mocking him. His brows furrow, teeth placing the crumbly bit of imitation candy back into his palm. He deflates even further, hanging his head. His free hand lifts the end of his tie, pressing it to his face as he expels an irate sigh. But now is not the time to lament over lost opportunities of the snacking variety. His eyes close and he inhales deeply.

ใ…ก LGC RETREAT 2K23 / INTRODUCTION
Hyunsoo sits securely in his spot on the ground, legs pulled up to his chest wirh his arms encircled around them. He glances up at the center of the room, intently following along with each individual's introduction. Some he finds himself cracking a slight smile of amusement at. However, his nerves are enough to detach him from much sense of joy with the looming threat of his own turn coming up. He wracks his mind for possible things to say, muttering several options of approach underneath his breath. He has already convinced himself that he lacks the sufficient charisma and energy required to accomplish a memorable introduction; well aware he is better suited reciting a script or lingering behind the camera.
Perhaps it would be better to simply go off the cuff, but Hyunsoo was unaccustomed to this sort of activity. In fact, he does not recall having done so since his first day of university. He drifts into his memory in an attempt to tap into what he might have said back then. Though, he must have changed a bit since that time. He has no desire to boast about his parents or brother or hype up his own skills.
There is not much time to think up a script for himself in the moment. A staff member gestures to him to come out next.
Hyunsoo pulls himself off the floor and stumbles into the center of the roomโ€”quite literally. His hands touch the ground, leg lifting back. He falls into a bow at the waist, arms folding up as he attempts to retain his sense of balance. It is a display of the least graceful swan in the room. Since when did he become so hopelessly clumsy?
"Aha... hello! I am rookie actor Lee Hyunsoo! I trained for just about three years before making my debut as an actor." Despite the softness in his appearance and his meek nature, his voice emerges in its typical rather stoic cadence. "And three facts?" He keeps his hands behind his back, and his eyes drift to the side. There is not much else to say. Aren't I too uninteresting to come up with three facts? After the brief pause, he hums with contemplation.
"I can eat about six or seven cheeseburgers in one sitting... without feeling sick!" Why would he admit such a thing? He nearly grimaces. "I have a lovely cat named Cocoa Bean! She is a rescue from a shelter." Okay, a bit better. "And lastly, I think there is more out there in the universe than the human race!" He nods and makes a gesture similar to the iconic aliens meme. Oh, no, why did you say that? His mind screams and he quickly leaves to go back to his seat.

-ห‹ห VIDEOGOMDORI โ—ก EP. 03
in which hyunsoo shows off his gaming consoles
The third episode of Hyunsoo's show is when he finally seems to find his footing. After hours of editing his own videos for submission, he finds joy in knowing each one has been approved. Perhaps he is overzealous attempting to do this all himself but the end result is always satisfying. He reads the comments ( well, most ot them โ€” his mental fortitude is not quite there yet ) in search of suggestions and questions that he could address in the next episode.
As an intermission of sorts, Hyunsoo decides to shoot a ten minute episode detailing his game consoles that aren't his beloved PC.
He pulls out each one to set on his coffee table, arranging the camera on a stand to point down at his hands, and another positioned to capture his face. He intends to cut between the two shots to give the video some visual variety. With a small lapel mic clipped to his shirt, he is ready to begin his video.
"Hello again! It's Lee Hyunsoo," He needs to think of a better introduction. "Today, we're going to be looking at my consoles. Surprisingly, I happen to have a few that I switch back and forth between depending on the game I want to play." He holds up his Nintendo Switch and Steamdeck. Unfortunately, the brand labels have to be covered by a thin layer of tape and censorship during editing.
"These are the portable ones that I play on the most... The Stemdeck probably more than my PC, even, if you can believe that... I just enjoy laying down and pulling it up. Or, I can just take it with me to play on between my classes and scenes, since it can be a long wait. I can play all my PC on it, but... it doesn't compare without my 4K monitor. So... My favorite games to play on it are mostly top-downs or hack and slash ones like Hades or RPGs like Persona 5..." On the side of the screen is a display of all of his games in Steam.
He clears his throat. "On the Switch, it's mostly for ..." then he laughs. "Uh, Animal Crossing. I play it with my friends, especially who aren't super into the games I am. But it is nice and calming!"
Hyunsoo drums the table before presenting his PS5. "Somehow... I managed to get one of these. I stayed up all night to get one! It's the first actual... standalone not portable console I have had. I mostly got it to play the new Final Fantasy 7 remake that will be coming out... and Spiderman. I'll try to play a lot of the games I've listed for you all. Let me know in the comments what you'd like to see."
After sitting for a while, he finally stands with a grunt, nearly falling forward as he waves goodbye to the camera.
