There's a mere second of debate there, in Utterson's mind, as he assesses the other's tone. It certainly doesn't seem on the upside to him, but he can very well be mistaken. Oh how he hopes he is mistaken. In the end -- yes, the end of that one second -- he winds up choosing to just lay out the first response that comes to mind, UNFILTERED. Which, he often does. It's just that recently, when it comes to Jekyll, he's learned to ever-so-slightly proceed with CAUTION.

❛ alright, fuck this. i'm getting a drink. ❜ again Jekyll to Utterson. Jekyll is fed up with… whatever XD

Language, Jekyll. He thinks it but knows better than to voice it lest his friend completely lose his grip.

" If you can just calm yourself for a moment, Jekyll, we might be able to tackle things with some manner of rationality. " Some manner of it. That's all he's asking for. He understands how difficult it must be for his friend right now -- his involvement with a hooligan or something of the like; it couldn't have helped his evidently deteriorating mental state.

Utterson has so many questions as to just who that MR. HYDE is; and what dirt he could possibly have on Jekyll to rope him into dealing with the aftermath of his unrelenting malevolence. Laying any on Henry now, nevertheless, can't possibly be the right thing to do. If anything, it's just about the WORST thing Utterson can do right now if he wants any sense of sanity out of his friend.

" Erm, I don't suppose this Mr. Hyde could join us eventually? It would prove rather helpful if he were to tell us just what it is that's gotten him in trouble with the law. "

May 24th, 18xx.

I made the judgment to visit Jekyll earlier today. We had tea. His hands shook as he held his cup and I felt a most disturbing chill run up my spine. Something is not right with him. He is showing marks of not illness per say but... perhaps it being such might somewhat put me at ease.

I would not wish any illness upon him but by God's will does he have my thoughts swallowing themselves up in dismay at his demeanor. I presumed, at the start, that he might have over-invested himself in some manner of scientific revelation. Now, I am not so certain. I will make a point of frequenting his quarters.
