again I must ask; would your muse be supportive of livvy when she informs them that she is slowly and surely building an alliance with the local crows in her neighborhood with intent to weaponize them against her middle school's lacrosse team?

my salty, slightly lukewarm take, is that. sometimes people here take the "you don't owe anyone anything ever!" sentiment too much and too far. like "you don't owe anyone your time/energy/resources" advice is generally given to people being made to feel bad by complete strangers for not dropping everything to appease them. that's true, you don't owe that person a damn thing!!

but "you don't owe anyone anything" doesn't apply to friends, or at least it shouldn't. i would argue that it doesn't even apply to mutuals in an rp setting! baseline, you owe respect and consideration. if you know you aren't EVER intending to write with someone or even talk to them or whatever, if you don't have time to listen about their character or you get annoyed by them, you owe them a clean break so they can devote time to people who will give them that consideration. if your friend needs someone to talk to or wants to ramble about something important to them and you get upset at them for making you do "emotional labor", if you block people with no warning who have been talking to you regularly for years and consider you a friend, you shouldn't sit around wondering why you eventually find yourself with no fucking friends or writing partners,

like maybe it's me growing up in the generation of internet safety where the grown-ups were all like "u cannot be too careful u need to assume everyone u talk to online is going to be a creep and going by a nickname that can be traced back to you in real life is too much" but. the way people have become uncomfortably entitled to absolute strangers personal lives is fucking insane to me!! like in an rp setting the most you need is an age range (bc people don't always want to write with minors and thats fine) and a name and maybe pronouns if they want to refer to you. no one fucking needs a list of your diagnosises and conditions and where you work and what region you live in and what your genetic or ethnic makeup looks like; if you want to divulge any of that that's fine, but no one should DEMAND that of you or make you feel bad and like a weirdo for not disclosing it. good god lord.
