The Almost Kiss

It just may be the cruelest, most frustrating thing a writer could ever pull. Two characters are finally about to bring all their shippers' dreams to fruition. They're about to resolve all the unresolved sexual tension and cross the 'Just Friends' line, at last. They're staring mesmerized into each others' eyes, inching forward ever so slowly, less than a millimeter away from lip-to-lip contact. This is it, the fans scream in their minds. They're finally going to kiss! And then... They don't. Were they interrupted by a knock on the door or falling meteor? Did one of them remember their late love interest that they promised never to forget? Was the thought of a relationship upgrade suddenly just too scary? Well, for some reason, they can't or won't go through with it. They may be giggling afterwards, or they may be crying a river. The sad thing is, the Almost Kiss says as much as a kiss, anyway, since we can see they both want it. Sometimes referred to as a "near-miss kiss".

When they're sleeping

It's not just the way they're at rest. It's that they're at rest with you. It's not just that they're safe but that they feel safe enough to let you see them like this. It's trust and it's intimacy. And you're not sure you're ready for them to see the emotions in your eyes right now. They've been through enough. You both have. Sometimes it scares you just how much you love them. It terrifies you that you feel happy as they lay there, eyes closed and hair a little messy. Their features twitch and you know they're dreaming and it scares you because if you fall asleep too you won't have a nightmare tonight. You'll dream of them. Or nothing at all. And either way it will make you need them more. And you're not supposed to need anyone but it's them. You want to hold them in your arms and never let go. You want to protect them but you know they want to protect you to. This is the kind of love you long for and it's the kind which will hurt if you lose it. But here you are anyway. It's too late now. You're glad it's too late to go back.

i might change the purpose of the library a teeensy bit? while its main function is to archive the records of the worlds ( which people can visit in their dreams ), theodore is allowed to give special permissions to those who may require the knowledge and allow them access to certain records even once they leave the library.

those who qualify are often deemed as heroes attempting to aid the destruction of their world. any destruction of a world can prove a danger to yggdrasil especially if the threat has the potential to reach across different worlds which can at some point, reach the library itself which holds invaluable knowledge that can bring destruction if in the wrong hands.

apart from heroes, i also firmly believe any higher being (such as demigods or gods) in the mortal world have the right to access certain records solely bc they have the divine blood in them. there may be other exceptions but its determined through a case-by-case basis from theodore + gaining permissions from the divine authority
