i have lots of notes in a doc written abt how i ( as an abuse / grooming survivor ) perceived xiao’s backstory with the evil god to be written as a clearly abusive and toxic romantic / intimate relationship, along with being xiao’s first “ real relationship ” and how that colors the view of his own interpersonal relationships to the current day, and how he constantly berates himself for wanting more, but is unable and unwilling to allow himself that kind of vulnerability, out of fear of being manipulated and taken advantage of like that again, but like. i’ve never really found a good way to like. word it w / o it coming across as tacky in my own opinion.

scout update ( wrt 2 my long absences ) : as i’ve stated before- i relate to xiao as a survivor of grooming and csa, and i personally feel like xiao’s backstory is heavily coded as one that could parallel a csa survivor- and while i do genuinely adore xiao and enjoy writing him- i often have to make sure that my mind is in a stable enough place for me to properly write him w/o accidently triggering myself- and obvs, i don’t owe anyone an excuse to why i dont show up here often, but i feel like being a little bit brutally honest abt it.
