Varggrop/ Wolf pit. About 4 meters deep. In the old days, the insides were lined with slippery wood to prevent caught wolfs from digging out or clawing their way up.

Every shelter on the road this hike has been perfect. With reasonably sharp axes, broom to clear away pine cones, pancake/kolbulle irons, good firepits, beautifully kept and placed by nice views . This is by lake Lilla Göljen, Fjällmossen nature reserve, where I had lunch (boiling water over the fire as I ran out of gas fir the stove)

Hike day 3 of 3, Valdemarsvik to Gusum through Tryserum.
Woke well rested (!), probably due to the nightly rain.
(Only downside is the ridiculous amounts of condensation in the outer tent, since no ventilation can be opened.)
I made pancakes for breakfast again and continued through fairly laborious terrain to Högsjön. I spent Valborg/Walpurgisnacht there last year, its a nice shelter on a rocky peninsula. Had a dip, lunch and continued on. The last 10 miles was along a path where there used to be a railroad. Flat, straight ahead, dull. My feet got blisters because I forgot the regular super thick socks so an additional annoyance. (the heels are too big, as they always are, on every single boot. If anyone would make a hiking shoe shaped like a barefoot shoe but with ACTUAL SOLES that take my weight and the backpack, I'd pay a decent sum... My altra shoes are nice, but they simply don't support a heavy backpack)
Anyway, lambs are cute and there were many to look at. Got ice-cream in Gusum before the bus home.

Hike day 2/3 Valdemarsvik to Gusum through Tryserum.
Woke up to a sunny morning at Lake Skirgöl. Made pancakes and coffee and headed off. The woods were full of bones.
Had tea at medieval church ruins (ruined in a fire in the 1600s) and ended up at lake Bymossegöl after some 22-ish heavy km.
The place was gorgeous, a combination of a bog (there'll be cloudberrys in some weeks no doubt) and nice rocks. The shelter was pretty, but since it was very windy, I opted to put up the tent, as a dead tree loomed above the roof. I put it at the top of a cliff and just as it was pitched the rain started to fall.

Hiking, Valdemarsvik to Gusum through Tryserum. Day 1 of 3.
First day went from Valdemarsvik to Lake Skirgöl wooden shelter outside of Tryserum. The 10 first kilometres down to Lake Rånen i have walked before so I took a few shortcuts. About 15-17 km in total the first day, I arrived early at camp.
Sunshine, some wind. The shelter had the good graces of being in possession of a mosquito net, axe, nice fireplace, bucket, dry firewood etc. Win! Grilled hot dogs, made hot chocolate, and watched the camp TV for the rest of the evening.
