I have some thoughts on Shego’s powers, timeline, and family history. What follows is unhinged ramblings, lots of reaches and leaps, and a lot of filling in blanks that canon left open.

Okay so, we all know Shego is a villain who is fully capable of taking over the world and making it the way she wants it with very little rebellion and issues in this new world. However, she also used to be a hero on a superhero team called ‘Team Go’. They worked in Go City, Shego’s hometown.

The way Shego and her brothers (Hego, Mego, and the twins Wego), were playing in their treehouse one day and at this point Shego had a very good relationship with her brothers. She was the only daughter, and the third youngest with Hego and Mego being her older brothers and the twins being her younger ones. Shego loved her brothers, and at this point she still was a relatively nice girl. Maybe a bit sassier, sarcastic, and a bit mean spirited that the average nice girl, but nowhere near the bad guy we know today.

On that day they were playing in the treehouse, a huge ass rainbow comet struck their treehouse and instead of killing them, gave them powers. Hego got super strength, Mego got shrinking and growth, the twins could make clones, and Shego got her green energy blasts.

As for ages, I am going to put Shego as 15 or 16 at this point. With Hego being 23, Mego being 18, and the twins being maybe 8 or 10. Don’t quote me on this or anything, this is a rough guesstimate.

Anyways, they formed Team Go and began doing hero work. Shego used to be all for it, and was excited to help out others and bring justice to the world. Their acclaim rose as they became an unstoppable team, and crime was practically nonexistent. Sure they had their recurring enemies, but they were always dealt with easily. They even were gifted Go Tower and all the technology and jets that came with it.

However, this is where the divide started.

Shego was always the one holding the group together. She was the responsible one, the one who came up with plans, the one who saved her brothers from their own idiocy. She was the one who managed their finances, their property damage claims, anything that could have been an issue. She was the only who figured out how all the technology worked, the one who knew how to pilot the jet.

It’s a lot of pressure for a teenager, and Shego eventually grew more and more frustrated with her brothers taking advantage of her and not listening to her plans or advice until it was too late, or disregarding her feelings and opinions. Shego looked at the villains, and noticed how much freedom they had. How much fun they were having. It was at this point that Shego became cranky, easily annoyed and aggressive, becoming the Shego we know today.

However, she also went to college. In addition to her college work, her brothers still expected her to carry the team and hold it together. Shego was reaching her limit. Once she graduated at 21, Shego returned to hero work full time, letting her degrees and teaching certification collect dust. However, this time she was darker. She began snapping more and more, becoming more uncooperative.

Eventually, Shego had enough. She quit the team, cutting all contact with her brothers, and left Go City at 21. Shego began doing villain work all over the world, and soon developed a reputation as a wicked, evil, person. The Shego we see in the show. Her time as a hero was forgotten by all except for her, a closely guarded secret. Shego’s shadow of evil engulfed any reference to her previous life as a hero.

When she was around 23, after developing a solid reputation for herself, Shego became acquainted with the henchman/mercenary/sidekick business. At first, she wasn’t all that into it. But it was Drakken who convinced her to give it a try, and Shego negotiated her first contract and had a hefty salary, which she loved. Having money and vacations paid for? Oh yeah.

Now she’s in her mid to late twenties, in most verses, and is doing villainy with whoever tosses her the most cash. Most the time it is Drakken, which suits Shego fine. He’s actually her favorite. Shego is living her best life. Sure she’s in a duo or team again most of the time, but it’s different. Now? SHE is respected, listened to, and allowed free reign to do whatever she likes. There’s little to no responsibility, and Shego has the freedom to be who she wants to be and do what she wants.

I already touched on why Shego is so protective/keen on defeating Kim, but she sees Kim as a younger version of herself. She believes that Kim is being taken advantage of and is being burdened the way she was. Shego wants to get Kim out of that life. Her way of doing it is twisted, but it’s there.

Anyways, that’s that! Sorry for my unhinged ramblings. Take this all with a grain of salt, as these are all my thoughts with the little crumbs the show gave us regarding Shego’s home life and history.

Delinquent Verses Headcanons

I posted a new open starter, so here we go.

Default Verse

After completion of her prosthetic, Rachel was sort of at a loss of how to continue her life after.

Bianca was helping Rachel out financially until she got herself back on her feet.

At her sister’s suggestion, Rachel started taking up some classes. So she could get some exercise and spend time outside of the house. These included kick-boxing, mixed martial arts, and parkour classes. She also took fencing classes and participated regularly in escape rooms for fun.

One day, she was just walking along when someone was escaping the police. They handed her something in a panic and she herself was targeted. Not knowing what else to do, she started to flee, being pursued.

She managed to escape expertly, dodging the cops with surprising ease.

Once Rachel had a look at what she was handed, she realized that she could give the android parts to someone who needed it. So, she decided to try and track whoever the theoretical recipient would’ve been.

Ever since then, she’s decided to make a career out of being a courier.

She’s been incredibly successful at stealing parts from CyberLife and handing them off to clients.

Think Mirror’s Edge and how the runners work.

Take Rachel’s bastard energy in her canon verse and multiply that by ten.

She’s an absolute little shit and she takes the piss outta everything and has fun doing it.

Her activities definitely worry her sister a fuckton, but Bianca’s hesitantly supportive. She just hopes that Rachel won’t get herself into huge trouble.

In terms of attitude, think Shego from Kim Possible with more of a sense of humour and slightly less snark.

Evil Verse

More or less the same as base canon delinquent verse.

Main difference is that this time, Rachel doesn’t really have any scruples and acts entirely out of self-interest.

She’ll take whatever job comes her way regardless of context so long as it pays well.

She numbs herself to the moral implications and ends up being really into it for the adrenaline and thrills.

Sometimes she’ll fuck up somebody else’s plans or just mess with the cops for fun.

If base canon delinquent verse had a little bit of Shego vibes, evil delinquent verse is just so much Shego energy.

Snark, sarcasm, smartmouth, cranky, but overall just here to have a good time and fuck some shit up.

Super smug and confident in her fighting style.

She does not hesitate to fuck people up with her prosthetic’s power and even ended up paying to get someone to give her a cybernetic glove on her right hand with the same modifications as her prosthetic so she can be a true brawler like she is at heart.

Here for a good fight and a good time and that good money.

Makes a name for herself in the criminal underground for her smuggling skills.

1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?

The first I got involved in? Not wrote, but just... involved. Mh. It’s gotta be One Piece, that’s where I discovered fanart and fanfiction for the first time. First fic I ever read was some self-insert love-triangle between a Mary-Sue and Luffy and Ace and I absolutely loved it because the mere fact that here, for free, I just got to read about my favorite characters and my favorite anime was absolutely mindblowing.

15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?

I mean. 75% of the ships I love are “obscure”. I... I always find the very obvious mainstream ships... boring. I mean, sometimes I find them nice in canon, but mostly I find canon to provide enough about them that I don’t really need fandom to get more of it, you know? Or, which also often happens, I find the mainstream ships have more of a very strong friendship-dynamic, or even a sibling-dynamic in some cases, and I just can’t really find it in myself to want to see them in a romantic way.

So, if I have to pick an, as in one, obscure ship, I will have to go with my top OTP. Jagnus. Jace and Magnus literally lived together, in both the show-canon and the book-canon, yet somehow it is an “obscure” ship. I mean, not somehow, we all know why. It’s the unwritten fandom rule of “canon mlm shall NEVER EVER BE BROKEN UP HOW DARE YOU SHIP ONE WITH SOMEONE ELSE”. You have no idea how often that rule has come between me and my OTP. Basically every time there is a canon mlm ship, really.

And this in no way or shape means to criticize those who only ship canon and are content with it, you do you, but I do find the lack of creativity in shipping in fandom where there is a canon mlm ship... really damn boring. Fandoms without canon mlm representation have the wildest constellations of ships, have a far broader variety of content, but when there is canon mlm, the majority of a fandom tends to just happily sit down with it and hug it and prefer not to be creative with the content and the shipping. And as a certified multishipper, I don’t really get that - like, even if you like the canon, you could have multiple ships?

17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

My first OTP was Shere Khan/Bagheera, because gods do I love Jungle Cubs. And while other ships I interact more with have pushed it off the throne, if I see any form of Sheregheera content, I am immediately sucked in, no questions asked, no hesitation. I am utterly in love with this very rare, small, very obscure actually, ship and I will always love it and it still is one of my favorites.

23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.

Ooof. Interesting one. I’ve done a variety of PJO fics I’m particularly fond of in previous versions of such a question, so let’s go with something else this time. “The Lost Soulmarks”. It’s, at this point, probably my own personal most reread story. I just reread it the other night, actually. It just - it hits all of the right spots in what I want from a fic. Very often, I write to please my readers, with “What do my followers like most?” in my mind at least to a certain degree, but some things are absolutely self-indulgent. And I should really write more absolutely self-indulgent fics because those are the ones I myself keep coming back to. It has ABO-verse, it has soulmates, it’s Jace-centric, with lots of love, misunderstandings but not the kind where one of them is to blame but rather where it’s due to the circumstances, it’s really emotionally painful, but pays off in the end. It’s... seriously those are all the things I love.

Got inspired to do a Drakken and Shego Mafia au after rewatching that episode of their ancestors in the 1900s. This could be just them in an au or their ancestors either way THEY’RE STILL ASSHOLES LOOK AT THEM.

In this verse, the villains of the show are rival gangs and are public menaces but they’re mostly harmless and mostly just try to one up each other CONSTANTLY. Drakken fashions himself a Derringer type but is a total softie on the inside especially when it comes to his right hand lieutenant/enforcer who only goes by the name ‘Miss Go’ (I got very inspired by Vera Lynn, Lauren Bacall and a whole lot of other femme fatales). She calls him ‘Don’ the way canon Shego always calls him ‘Doc’.

ALSO PLEASE IMAGINE SHEGO MAKING HER VOICE DEEPER AND HUSKIER ALA BACALL AND DRAKKEN GOING FULL ON NEW YORK MOB BOSS TWANG IM YELLING.
