Dark Arts (wielded “when necessary” which is really just…whenever her instincts say)
Pyromancy - Raegan is an Igneus; a species of witch that is immune to and can conjure fire at will, the trait being passed through her mother’s bloodline
Backstory
Born in Avignon, France, Raegan had a turbulent childhood. While her mother was loving and kind, she often had to travel for her work - as did Raegan’s father, meaning she was often with only one parent for extended periods of time or had to be watched by one of her paternal aunts. When he was around, Marcel was not an affectionate man…in fact, he was often physically and verbally abusive to his wife right in front of Raegan and extended the treatment to her as she got older.
Eventually he discovered that Kassady had had an affair and conceived a son with another man. This coupled with his disdain for witchcraft led him to abandon his wife and daughter. So, the two moved back to Kassady’s hometown of Galway, Ireland.
However, times were tough. Her mother’s career as a dragonologist was no longer lucrative enough in the troubling times, and so they again relocated to London.
It was there that Kassady met a tragic, sudden end at the hands of an unidentified serial killer (who many suspected was actually a wizard). A newly orphaned Raegan, upon hearing the news, burned her house to the ground and wound up killing the officer who reported it accidentally.
The emotion was enough to unlock the ancient magic that had been hidden away inside of her, and just days after her mother’s funeral she received her Hogwarts letter. She now lives with her best friend (Diana)’s aunt in Scotland.
Academics
Best subject: DADA
Favorite subject: Flying and History of Magic
Favorite teacher: Hecat and Sharp
Worst subject: Herbology
Least favorite subject: Herbology and Divination
Least favorite teacher: Binns
Quidditch: Chaser (sixth year) and Quidditch Captain in seventh
As a student:
Rarely late, but she does miss (more than) a few classes in her fifth year
Detention record reads more like a rap sheet
Infamous but still respected; dedicated and intelligent
Future
Career: Auror
Though Raegan notoriously resists authority and despises the incompetence of the Ministry, she sees working for them as an opportunity to change things. Being in on the more secretive matters going on behind the scenes of the Wizarding World (and the chance to deal with them under the protection of their influence) doesn’t hurt, either.
They likely would have fired her on her first day for her insubordination, but they can’t deny the fact that she quickly becomes one of the best they have. Really, it’s a case of mutual loathing maintained through an advantageous truce.
Eventually, she does leave of her own accord, and takes up studying ancient history and magical weapon making.
Spouse: Sebastian Sallow (m. 1898)
(thanks @rypnami for motivating me by association to finally post this months old draft 🤠)

Strike (and patient...) Anon
Tumblr media
Forgive the out-of-character delay. I got entangled in a maelstrom of domestic complications and yet somehow managed to keep an eye on the SAG-AFTRA saga.
For context, clarity and empathy, I shall direct you straight to Chemistry & Timing's unique vantage point on this evolving situation (https://www.tumblr.com/fadeupin5432 ). You will probably not get a better, closer to ground zero understanding of what is really at stake, who the major players are and what lies ahead. And an important part of what is at stake, as she explained, is Man vs. Machine, as in TPTB trying to shamelessly exploit the profession's secondary players and rob them of their due rights by endlessly using them as mere support for AI-enhanced recreations of the original silhouette, voice and acting.
This impacts not only their earnings, as she mentioned, but the very long term survival of that unsung army of extras, brave one-line whisperers, stunts, body doubles, etc. But really, nobody is spared, because uncontrolled technology can quickly turn into a tidal wave of doom. Couple that with the studios' greed and we have an explosive cocktail with potential lethal impact.
This almost unprecedented move by SAG-AFTRA has most probably been informed by several successful European precedents, such as the regular strikes of their French and Greek counterparts (to mention just the ones I am most familiar with), eager to see their rights recognized by labor law as employees, not as civil law governed contractual collaborators (way less interesting and protective, since not opening the right to unemployment benefits).
Fun fact, the French artist's guilds almost always go on strike during the summer hiatus, trying to gain leverage and capitalize on a very busy period, featuring high-profile events, such as the Avignon Theatre Festival. Something to be a part of at least once in your life, if you ask me.
But the comparison stops here, because the right to one own's image/right of personal portrayal, including reproduction rights, is taken very seriously by civil law systems since at least the 60's. Because European artist's guilds/trade unions are far more aggressive and politically colored than in the US (on the left side of the spectrum, to be exact). And because whenever new technology rears its strange head on the scene, a group of experts takes it in its stride and thinks of a European directive to try and control its impact on individual rights and avoid exactly this type of situations. The downside of this protective regulation is that it becomes obsolete very, very quickly, because by the time you finished negotiating, technology did not wait for you and caught up already, for a good while.
Then you start it all over again: this is also why I branched off, with no regrets and some hefty experience gained. As I mentioned, I was one of that handful of folks, circa 2005-2010. We tend to quarrel a lot over a comma while thinking about Brussels winter rebates, but we did manage a fine job dealing with far less complicated things, such as digitalization of TV signals, broadcasting rights, pay-per-view regulations - the list is endless and very creative. Enough for the memory lane part.
The amount of Tumblr comments in Mordor from people who clearly have no damn clue of what they are talking about is insulting. The pretention to own the truth when you just pile up newspapers in a helter-skelter manner, also. Take for instance the trolls hoping for a Season 8 cancellation, who clearly never heard of the concept of force majeure, which protects better the parties' interests, in US legal doctrine, than torts' classical doctrines such as "impracticability" or "frustration of purpose". It is my deep hope that S&C's confidential contracts with * offer full coverage of force majeure situations, and I think, as per the COVID precedent, that they do.
Yes, both SAG members, most probably. No, she is not working. Yes, he will just sell the booze and you will be shrieking like banshees, again, in Mordor: tell me, did he take your dime out of your pockets by force, or what? No, no JAMMF pix for you, Onlies and Mommies. And I bet no blonde either, but that is beyond the scope of this note.
SMH. Morons.
Anyways. I had much fun writing this. Come back anytime with witty challenges, Strike Anon. And yes, I follow the situation very closely.
@fadeupin5432, I stand in solidarity.

SAINT OF THE DAY (April 5)
Tumblr media
Roman Catholics celebrate the missionary efforts of St. Vincent Ferrer on April 5.
The Dominican preacher brought thousands of Europeans into the Catholic Church during a period of political and spiritual crisis in Western Europe.
Vincent Ferrer was born on 23 January 1350 in Valencia, Spain. His parents raised him to care deeply about his religious duties, without neglecting his education or concern for the poor.
One of his siblings, Boniface, later joined the Carthusian order and became its superior general.
Vincent, however, would become a Dominican and preach the Gospel throughout Europe. He joined at the age of 18 in 1374.
As a member of the Dominican Order of Preachers, Vincent committed much of the Bible to memory while also studying the Church Fathers and philosophy.
By age 28, he was renowned for his preaching and also known to have a gift of prophecy.
Five years later, a representative of Pope Clement VII chose Vincent to accompany him to France, where he preached extensively.
While Vincent sought to live out his order's commitment to the preaching of the Gospel, he could not escape becoming involved in the political intrigues of the day.
Two rival claimants to the papacy emerged during the late 1300s, one in Rome and another in the French city of Avignon.
Each claimed the allegiance of roughly half of Western Europe.
Caught between the rival claimants, Vincent attempted to persuade the Avignon Pope Benedict XIII to negotiate an end to the schism.
Benedict, who was regarded as Pope in both Spain and France, sought to honor Vincent by consecrating him as a bishop.
But the Dominican friar had no interest in advancing within the Church. He regarded many bishops of his time as negligent leaders distracted by luxury.
“I blush and tremble,” he wrote in a letter, “when I consider the terrible judgment impending on ecclesiastical superiors who live at their ease in rich palaces, while so many souls redeemed by the blood of Christ are perishing.
I pray without ceasing, to the Lord of the harvest, that he send good workmen into his harvest.”
Vincent not only prayed but acted, committing himself to missionary work and resolving to preach in every town between Avignon and his hometown in Spain.
In a commanding style, he denounced greed, blasphemy, sexual immorality, and popular disregard for the truths of faith.
His sermons often drew crowds of thousands and prompted dramatic conversions.
Popular acclaim, however, did not distract him from a life of asceticism and poverty.
He abstained completely from meat, slept on a straw mat, consumed only bread and water on Wednesdays and Fridays, and accepted no donations for himself beyond what he needed to survive.
He traveled with five other Dominican friars at all times, and the men would spend hours hearing confessions.
For two decades, Vincent and his group of friars undertook preaching missions in Spain, Italy, and France.
When he traveled outside these regions, into Germany and other parts of the Mediterranean, those who did not know the languages in which he preached would testify that they had understood every word he said, in the same manner as the apostles experienced at Pentecost.
Although he did not heal the temporary divisions within the Church, Vincent succeeded in strengthening large numbers of Europeans in their Catholic faith.
He wrote little, although some of his works have survived, and exist in modern English translations.
Vincent Ferrer died on 5 April 1419 at the age of 62 in Vannes, Brittany.
He was canonized by Pope Callixtus III on 3 June 1455.
He has recently become the namesake of a traditional Catholic community approved by the Holy See, the Fraternity of Saint Vincent Ferrer.
He is considered the patron saint of builders due to his effectiveness in building up the Church.

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more … November 16
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
42 BC – Tiberius, Roman emperor, born (d.37 AD); second Roman Emperor, from the death of Augustus in CE 14 until his own death in 37 AD. Tiberius was by birth a Claudian, son of Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Drusilla. His mother divorced his father and was remarried to Octavian Augustus in 39 BC. Tiberius would later marry Augustus' daughter Julia the Elder (from an earlier marriage) and even later be adopted by Augustus and by this act he became a Julian. The subsequent emperors after Tiberius would continue this blended dynasty of both families for the next forty years; historians have named it the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
Tiberius was the predecessor to Caligula and he was certainly the appropriate curtain-raiser. His sexual excesses were widely known, especially when he "retired" to Capri, governing Rome via correspondence, and becoming the patron saint of that future gay mecca. Suetonius reported that Tiberius trained young boys, whom he called his "minnows," to stay between his legs while he was swimming so they could lick and nibble him until he came. Suetonius reports that Tiberius can be credited with the "daisy chain" or spintriae - a conga line of people joined front and back in sexual congress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1942 – Barton Lidice Beneš, born in Hackensack, New Jersey (d.2012), was an artist who lived and worked in New York City. He studied at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York and Beaux-Arts, Avignon, France.
His father, the son of Czech immigrants gave him his middle name in memory of Lidice, the Czech town destroyed by the Nazis that year. He grew up in Queens with Czech-born grandparents, who instilled in him a dedication to the Roman Catholic traditions of reliquaries and memorials to the dead.
Barton Beneš' art incorporated shadow boxes filled with bits and pieces that revealed the myths and ironies of life. The fragments in Beneš' work often involved famous people and events, from a piece of Elizabeth Taylor's shoe to a crumb from the wedding cake of the Prince of Wales. His travelling exhibition series about AIDS, "Lethal Weapons," was the focus of an independent documentary film released in 1997. "Lethal Weapons" consisted of 30 vessels such as a water pistol, an atomizer, and hollow darts, all filled with the artist's or other people's HIV-infected blood.
Another work, "Brenda," was a wall relief carpeted with red AIDS-awareness ribbons and slathered with a coat of gray paste made from the cremated remains of a woman who had died of AIDS. "I absolutely hate those [AIDS] ribbons," he said, contending that wearing them did nothing more than assuage people's consciences.
Although galleries and museums refused to show this work, they were displayed without incident at the North Dakota Museum of Art in 1993. Beneš did not forget the courage and commitment to art of this prairie institution. When he died he left instructions to be cremated and have his remains placed in a pillowcase on his bed. The bed was the central part Beneš last completed and most personal work, his 850-square-foot home in Greenwich Village containing thousands of objects including masks and religious relics and the mementoes and remains of his loved ones. This enormous piece with its thousands of contents will be moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, where they will be exhibited in a replica of the apartment
Among the museums that have acquired his works are the Chicago Art Institute, the National Museum of American Art, the National Gallery of Australia, and most importantly the North Dakota Museum of Art.

Scott Wittman (L) with Marc Shaiman
1955 – Born: Lyricist and director Scott Wittman, who, with composer Marc Shaiman, his partner in life and collaborator in theater, film, and television projects, has a long list of credits in the entertainment industry. Their work on the musical version of John Waters' Hairspray earned Tony and Grammy awards in 2003.
Both Shaiman and Wittman grew up in the vicinity of New York City, the former in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, and the latter in Nyack, New York. Both were fascinated with musical theater from an early age and dreamed of careers on Broadway. Shaiman played piano with local community theater groups from the time that he was twelve, and Wittman apprenticed in summer stock in his hometown. Such was their love for the stage that they both cut high school classes to travel into New York for matinees.
Wittman attended Emerson College in Boston but left after two years to pursue a career as a writer and director in musical theater in New York. In the city's East Village he crossed paths with Shaiman, who had quit high school at sixteen to join the New York musical scene. Wittman was directing a show at a club in Greenwich Village when Shaiman came in and started playing the piano. Wittman promptly hired him. They subsequently fell in love and have been a couple since 1979.
The two soon began collaborating professionally, writing songs that Shaiman describes as "full of anarchy and joy."
Since 1997 Shaiman and Wittman have contributed and directed music for the Academy Awards presentation show. At the same time Wittman, who humorously calls himself "a great diva wrangler," has directed concerts. In addition to working with Bette Midler, he has had a long association with Patti LuPone and has worked with Christine Ebersole, Raquel Welch, Dame Edna Everage (Barry Humphries), and Lypsinka among many others.
Shaiman and Wittman's greatest triumph thus far is Hairspray, an adaptation of the 1988 John Waters movie for the musical stage. Shaiman and Wittman wrote the music, and Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan the book for the play.
Tumblr media
The show dominated the 2003 Tony Awards, winning eight, including best musical and best score. At the end of their acceptance speeches Shaiman declared to Wittman, "I love you, and I'd like to spend the rest of my life with you." The couple then embraced and shared a long and tender kiss. News outlets around the world took note of this affecting moment.

1964 – Waheed Alli, Baron Alli is a British multimillionaire media entrepreneur and politician. He was co-founder and managing director of Planet 24, a TV production company, and managing director at Carlton Television Productions. He was, until November 2012, chairman of ASOS.com. He is the chairman of Silvergate Media, which purchased two of the media rights previously held by Chorion Ltd, where Alli was former chairman. He is a Labour life peer and is described as one of only a few openly gay Muslim politicians in the world.
In British political terms he is considered Asian, though both of his parents are from the Caribbean. His mother, a nurse, is from Trinidad, and his estranged father, a mechanic, is from British Guiana (now Guyana). His mother was Hindu and his father Muslim; he has two brothers, one of each faith. He was named one of the 20 most important Asians in British media in 2005. At the same time, he maintains ties with his Caribbean roots, both with other British-Guyanese politicians such as Valerie Amos and Trevor Phillips, and with President Bharrat Jagdeo.
Alli joined the Labour Party at the persuasion of his neighbour Emily Thornberry, to whom he remains close. He is also close to Anji Hunter, Director of Government Relations in Tony Blair's first government. Prime Minister Blair used him for years as a means to help him reach out to a younger generation (aka "yoof culture"), and as such he is considered one of "Tony's Cronies". He was made a life peer as Baron Alli, of Norbury in the London Borough of Croydon, on 18 July 1998 at the age of 34, becoming the youngest and the first openly gay peer in Parliament. He sits on the Labour benches in the House of Lords. The BBC summarised his appointment as "the antithesis of the stereotypical 'establishment' peer – young, Asian and from the world of media and entertainment".
Alli has used his political position to argue for gay rights. He spearheaded the campaign to repeal Section 28. He advocated lowering the age of consent for homosexuals from 18 to 16, equal to heterosexuals; this eventually became law as the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000. It was during a heated exchange with conservative opponents, led by Baroness Young, that he informed his fellow peers that he was gay. In April 1999, he said in a speech, "I have never been confused about my sexuality. I have been confused about the way I am treated as a result of it. The only confusion lies in the prejudice shown, some of it tonight [i.e. in the House], and much of it enshrined in the law."
In 2009, he spearheaded an effort to repeal clauses in the Civil Partnership Act 2004 which prohibited religious institutions from conducting the ceremonies on their premises. This campaign culminated in a bipartisan amendment, which became part of the Equality Act 2010.

2007 – Breakfast With Scot - In 2006, straight Canadian actor Tom Cavanagh began filming Breakfast with Scot, in which he plays a gay retired hockey player who becomes an adoptive father to a young boy. The film, released on this day in 2007, drew attention as the first gay-themed film ever to win approval from a major league sports franchise to use its real name and logo; Cavanagh's character formerly played for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Tumblr media
1989 – The Center for Homosexual Lifestyles was established in Berlin. It was the first time in Germany that a public office was established specifically to deal with the concerns of lesbians and gay men.
Tumblr media
1995 – A directive was issued by the Canadian Government allowing workers in same-sex relationships to take time off in the event of a partner's illness or death.
Tumblr media
1999 – The Rhode Island Supreme Court rules that all pending consensual sodomy prosecutions at the time of the 1998 legislative repeal must be abandoned.

The New Singer-Epilogue (Dilf ! Damon Albarn X Reader)
Pairing: Dilf ! Damon Albarn X Reader
Warnings: Language, fluff as hell, a bit of smut (P in V sex), maybe a few spelling mistakes
Words: 954
Summary: Damon and Y/N go on a little holiday with their baby daughter before he leaves for tour. They go where Y/N grew up in France.
A/N: And here we are, this is the end of the Damon fan fic era... I really enjoyed writing these fan fics for you guys and I hope you liked it as well. My requests are still open for you because this is absolutely not the end of the Damon era (I'll say it end well... NEVER). A requested smut with him is coming later in the day. On friday, the first chapter of the 90's Liam will be published and I promise to work as hard as I did (this is my way of working anyway). Much love to you all !
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
October 2021:
A little holiday, just us three, before Damon’s new album release and before him going back on tour.
Before me, going back to the studio.
Juliette was very calm. She wasn’t crying often. And when she was awake, she was curious, looking at the world around her.
This time, it was my turn to choose where we would be going. I Decided it was time for Damon to discover where I grew up in France. At least, for the memories I had from it because I never came back until this day. We didn’t only go to Avignon, we went around Le Mont Ventoux, as it is called.
Before going on the mountain, we visited a beautiful little town called Le Barroux. It has a wonderful medieval castle, a wonderful abbey, and a lake, where we stopped to have a picnic.
We ended up falling asleep a part of the afternoon with our lovely Juliette between us two.
When we woke up it was about 3pm. My daughter was looking at me.
Salut toi! (Hello you!) I said
She answered with one of her beautiful smiles. When growing up, Damon and I saw that she had his eyes, his nose and his smile, but she had my look and my lips.
It was time for her to have her meal.
My body created a shadow, which woke Damon up, as I was breastfeeding our daughter.
What time is it? He asked
3 pm sleepyhead.
I needed to sleep a bit.
Didn’t say anything. We’re tired new parents.
Damon laughed at my words.
We can say that.
While Juliette is still awake, we should take the opportunity to go to the llama farm. It’s not far.
Sure, let me put this away and we’ll go.
Let’s say Juliette was all smiling when seeing the fluffy animals. I took her little hand and helped her caress the side of one of the llamas.
Voilà, c’est comme ça qu’on fait ma puce. (That's how it's done, baby)
Vous parlez Français ? (You speak French?) The owner of the farm said
Oui, j’ai vécu dans le Vaucluse quand j’étais petite et aie vécu mes années lycées à Calais. (Yes, I lived in the Vaucluse when I was a child and spent my high school years in Calais.)
On croirait vraiment que vous êtes native d’ici, parce que vous n’avez aucun accent ! (One could really believe that you are a native speaker because you have no accent!)
Oh vous savez, avec de la pratique… (oh you know, with practice...)
C’est sûr que ça marche mieux effectivement ! (It certainly works better !)
*
It hadn’t snowed yet, but when on top, the air you breath is cooler. But it also was cold. Juliette was now asleep in the baby carrier. Damon and I we walked on the white rocks and ended up looking at the beautiful view. Views on another mountains, vineyards, also being above the clouds. A view on the Alps, covered in snow, and Damon who lifted his arms up in the air before saying:
I’m the king of the world!
Which made me laugh.
Well while on this mountain yes!
And you’re the queen.
Oh… I don’t know.
He came towards me and kissed me, before caressing our daughter’s head.
And she is the princess. It’s us three against the rest of the world. He added
*
Pants were filling the bedroom of our lodge, me on top of Damon. We were trying to be as quiet as possible, because Juliette was sleeping in her crib next to the bed.
I love you Y/N. Love you, love you, love you…
I was bouncing up and down on his hard member, his fingers digging in my hips. Damon had his head thrown back on the pillow, his Adam apple bobbing in his throat, both being on the verge of cumming.
As the heat invaded my body, I put my hand on my mouth to silence my incoming moans, and Damon groaned loudly, and I felt his release paint my insides.
Obviously, this woke Juliette up. Once we were done catching our breath, Damon got up and took her in his arms, because she started crying for once.
Shh, everything is fine my love. Stop crying.
I went to the bathroom, and soon, he joined with the baby.
It’s time for bath! He said
I agree.
Don’t put too much hot water, I don’t want Juliette’s skin to be burnt.
Thank you Damon, I know! I giggled
Once the bath was ready, Damon entered first and I handed Juliette to him. Then I entered second, and he gave her back to me. My head was laid on Damon’s torso, and our lovely daughter had her head on mine and was slowly falling back asleep.
I’m the happiest and luckiest man on earth. I mean, what more should I need?
That’s a good question.
Our little family… We just miss Missy.
Talking ‘bout that… She’s joining us tomorrow.
We will be complete then.
She told me she sewed something for her little sister.
I can’t wait to see that.
By the way… When we will come back home and before you go, I’ll need your help.
For what?
To write a ballad. For Juliette.
Back to where we started, huh?
In a way, yes. Back to when you met the new singer.
Damon smiled, kissed me, and held me tighter.
And I’m glad I met this new singer.

DARKEST DUNGEON: THE CRUSADER
Every cause needs a champion, a hero to rally otherwise common men to a righteous cause and lead them to victory. The Crusader is that champion. With holy blade in hand he smites the wicked and sends them back to the darkness from whence they crept. While his armor restricts his movement it affords him great protection, allowing him to stand in the frontlines to take the blows that his weaker comrades cannot.
No matter the pressures he faces he will remain strong, finding strength within himself to keep fighting on while inspiring others to do the same. Even in the midst of battle he can galvanize his allies, giving them the strength to fight off madness for a little longer. When the Crusader is leading the charge, all of hell will know to fear the flame.
------------------------------------ Your name is Reynauld, of Avignon.
You came here when your campaign ended in defeat, and dismay. Not the staunch insistence of your commander nor the declaration of victory was able to erase the bitter memories of your dead friends, and dead soldiers. Among the many corpses that fell for zealous purpose, there was your own. Not much can assuage the bitter taste of war, the back of your throat used to the scent of fire and molding flesh.
You had a wife, and a child, but you could not face them outside of the helm that you wore at first. When you did try to reach them, they seemed to wish nothing to do with you. And thus, you took to older roads, in different countries far from the Light.
And then one day a man met you at a crossroads dive, looking for people to help him on an impossible quest
------------------------------------

Reynauld is a dexterity-based Great Weapon Fighter, whose montante great sword is aptly named “The Last Crusade”. He focuses on dealing and taking as much damage on the front line as possible, using his extreme endurance and quickness to distract the enemy from his allies. His offensive and defensive capabilities, as well as his experience in battle and healing capacity, make him an invaluable pick for expeditions into the dark corners of the Earth.

------------------------------------
VERSES
ON THE OLD ROAD WE FOUND REDEMPTION // DARKEST DUNGEON 1 +2
Canon storyline. Reynauld arrives to the Hamlet with precious few clear memories, meeting the soon to be heroes of the Hamlet and the valley beyond it. Under Regulus’s beckon, Reynauld descends into twisting dungeons and dangerous forests, fighting beside his companions and friends. The horror grows as the truth of the Hamlet, the surrounding area, and its people are revealed, and not only that truth, but the truth about himself as well. With the defeat of the heart of darkness, the darkness itself is now the enemy to fight ever onward.
------------------------------------
THE LIGHT
A religion that pre-dates the Crusades. It is a pagan religion, with focus on balance, sacrifice, purity of spirit, and human willpower to achieve these things. The Light in its simplest form can be explained as the worship of daytime, the sun, stars, and celestial bodies. There are many different sects of Light worship, each sect having its own particular set of beliefs. The Light is a benevolent and demanding entity, and understanding it is to understand one’s own self as well.
As if confirming the existence of such an entity as “The Light”, there also exist what are called “Light Touched”. Light Touched individuals seem to bear a piece of the Light itself inside of them, being innately attuned to its powers and will.
📖 Light Touched Template
FIRST ORDER
The First Order of the Light believes the light is like pure essence of life and they are the taps in to that stream. They have means to open that tap wider, and do so with caution, lest they be drawn in and left no longer as an individual but part of the whole.
SECOND ORDER
📖 Of the Light
THIRD ORDER
The Third Order of the Light/The Order of Tephos’, teachings focus on curating and protecting the already present light in all creatures.

Atz’lut v’ Ta’avah (7/?)
It’s been several days since Guy left the ship. He has not come back.
Will he come back?
youtube
Phoebus has been laying on the floor for G-d knows how long now. The clock on his wall has been ticking. There is a stillness he thought he’d never see again. A silence all too new, and yet too familiar. The lights of the candles create shadows of the golems that would deceive him of life lost long ago. Life he is forced to remember.
It’s just one little insult. It’s so stupid to be upset over. And yet Phoebus can’t be bothered to get up to apologize. Not with all he’s done for him. Done for Maman. Done for Noelle.
Tumblr media
At least there is peace now….. Peace to be with Maman and Noelle…. especially Maman, who looked forward to Phoebus succeeding in life to be her Good Little Jewish Boy...
Tumblr media
Just to be as himself. Happy. No comparisons to how much of an embarrassment Guy is.
Just focus on the family.
Tumblr media
No pressure. No one to breath down his neck or look over his shoulder. He can do this. He has to. He’s the firstborn. He’s the Good Son.
He can do this alone. With a sick mother and a starving sister. He’s not the layabout brother. Guy is.
He’s okay. He’s all right. He can do this....
Tumblr media
He’s the Good Son. He has to.

He joined at age 18 in 1374.
But the Dominican friar had no interest in advancing within the Church and regarded many bishops of his time as negligent leaders distracted by luxury.
Vincent not only prayed, but acted, committing himself to missionary work and resolving to preach in every town between Avignon and his hometown in Spain.
For two decades, Vincent and his group of friars undertook preaching missions in Spain, Italy and France.
St. Vincent Ferrer died on 5 April 1419 at age 62, in the city of Vannes in the French region of Brittany.
He was canonized by Pope Callixtus III on 3 June 1455.
He has more recently become the namesake of a traditional Catholic community approved by the Holy See, the Fraternity of Saint Vincent Ferrer.

For all those packing for Dragon Con this week, a memory of my own:
Me: AUGH.
Inner 12-Year-Old: ?
Me: I've had Morrissey stuck in my head since last night, whinging on about Joan of Arc.
I12YO: Ah! "Now I know how Joan of Arc felt... Now I know how Joan of Arc felt! La da de da de dah! La la LA da de da de dah!"
Me: That's the one.
I12YO: Sorry about that.
Me: Oh, I hardly think it's y-- wait. IS it your fault?
I12YO: Keeps me on-task.
Me: On WHAT task, pray tell?
I12YO: Packing. Like the PS3 music the other day, but without running up the electric bill.
Me: Why?
I12YO: Well, you have to admit it's appropriate.
Me: What? How? What does that song have to do with packing for a geek convention?
I12YO: Well, Joan of Arc, obviously.
Me: The song isn't about Joan of Arc. It's the greatest whinefest ever recorded about being offended that someone else was offended and trying to deflect the consequences of your actions onto others with guilt trips and manipulative self-martyrd--
I12YO: All I've ever been able to make out was the bit about Joan of Arc.
Me: Okay, fine. What does a 15th-century French saint have to do with packing for a geek convention?
I12YO: Marshalling the forces of creative order to lead them into battle with the armies of undifferentiated chaos, duh. Same as any time I pack.
Me: This is about you being overly-prepared again, isn't it?
I12YO: THIS IS A RELIGIOUS MATTER. Step aside, Greyface.
Me: Packing is not a holy war.
I12YO: Not to you. That's why I'm the one who does all the packing.
Me: And I have to hoist around the results of your holy offices. Brat.
I12YO: Hail Eris, full of clothes, the packing cubes are with thee.
Me: Did you just name my suitcase "Eris"?
I12YO: Think back to how well it DIDN'T roll down the streets of Avignon and tell me I'm wrong.
Me: ...Did you pack a toothbrush yet?
