**Ykonn is the continent that Hycinth (Xyria's homeland) is located. Glisha is the continent that Dhavya hails from.

The masked figure's scrutinizing gaze burns even from under the mask. The Reveler's head tips to the side ever so slightly, humming in quiet contemplation. Dhavya suppresses every instinct to bristle.

"You're pretty," the performer finally says, straightening. "You could make a fortune if you joined us, you know?"

Dhavya responds with an uneasy smile. "Thank you. But I've no need for riches, nor desire to..."

She trails off, unsure of how to word "circus" without it sounding like a slur.

The Reveler laughs, leaning back easily as if waving off the uneasiness. "Of course, of course. Force of habit. Anyways, what was it that you wanted?"

Now that the moment is here, Dhavya feels her mouth dry up, her throat sealing itself shut.

Hell, Dhavya. You came all the way here. Spit it out.

"Help me look for someone," she finally manages. "You're good at that, right? I've heard a lot about your... um... underground business. I need to find someone."

"Oh," The Reveler leans forward, elbows on their knees. Dhavya can hear the smirk in their voice. "And who is this person? Family? A lover? Do you seek vengeance?"

Dhavya forces herself to swallow, the action tickling her dry throat. "A..." she trails off. How would one describe their relationship? "She... It's complicated. She was sent to kill me, once. Then she worked for me for a bit... and... I made a promise to her."

There's a beat of silence. Dhavya finishes the thought that lingers in her mind: "I intend to keep it."

"Lover it is," The Reveler drawls. They stand, languid, like a leopard pressing itself to its full height. "So? Tell me about them. Can't very well find someone without knowing more than what they used to do."

"She told me her name was Xia. She has chin-length, dark blue hair. Purple-bluish eyes. Her skin's tan, a little lighter than mine..." Dhavya finds herself flushing hotly at the mere memory of the woman. "She was probably a soldier. Wouldn't tell me what nation she was from. Looked Ykonn. She's a good fighter. A good fighter. About this tall... Never told me where she was going, just disappeared. She was always careful about that sort of thing. Sprinkled in just enough inconsistencies in her story to let me know that she was lying about at least... at least a lot of her story."

The Reveler nods slowly, as if committing every word to memory. "I'll get started tracking her down. And you? Where will you be? Finding someone can take months."

Dhavya looks at the masked face, right where the eye slits should be. "I'll wait. I'll be in Arkya indefinitely, anyways. You can send updates to... this location..." Dhava tears a piece of paper from her journal and jots down an address.

"I will pay you richly for this," Dhavya promises. "I am a princess of the the Glishal Sands. My word is better than gold."

"Sure, princess," The Reveler takes the paper and turns their face to the map pinned to the wall. "I've no doubt."

"Now that business talks are over..." The Reveler prowls forwards slowly, until they reach out to place two gentle fingers on Dhavya's sternum. "I've got a show in about an hour from now. Will you be joining us?"

Blood thrums under Dhavya's skin. She allows herself to lean forwards against the fingers, a half smile lighting her lip.

"I've got time to spend," Dhavya agrees, and clasps a firm hand to The Reveler's removing it from herself. "But please. Watch your hands. I've found offense for less."

The Reveler only giggles at that, giving Dhavya a shooing motion.

"Go on, then. I'll see you later."

Dhavya dips under the curtain-door, into the half-light of sunset. She breathes deep, feeling anxiety and adrenaline wash from her system.

"All of this, for a mercenary." Dhavya laughs. "Oh, Xia. You really are something."

"What don't you understand?" Dhavya's voice is a frustrated plea. "Tell me! Don't you feel this as much as I do? Don't lie to me, stop lying to yourself! You know the truth as much as I do!"

Xyria whirls around, glaring, though it's not exactly pointed at the princess. "Leave me."

"No!" She can't bring herself to care about whether or not she sounds like a spoiled brat. "What don't you understand?"

"I understand everything clearly," Xyria takes a deep breath and holds it for a moment, pulling at the simple twists and pearls in her hair until she can comb through it messily with her fingers. "But don't be mistaken, Princess. This is nothing more than lust."

"Nothing more than lust?" Dhavya wants to shake the girl by the shoulders. A frustrated, angry laugh bursts from her.

"Fine, Xyria, then tell me. Admit it to my face. Am I nothing more than a fuck buddy to you?"

Xyria scowls, teeth grit. "Such words are unbecoming, Highness."

"Then-"

"Forget me."

The words are spoken quietly, a sudden respite from the raised voices that were present just moments ago. It takes Dhavya a moment to process them.

"Huh?"

"Forget me, Dhavya." Xyria turns away again.

Panic ignites in her chest, and she rushes forwards to grab Xyria's wrist.

"What are you saying now?" Dhavya can feel the way her heart pounds. "Don't say that. Don't ever say that."

Xyria sighs, the breath shaking through her whole body. "Fine, maybe this wasn't lust. But it was a mistake. None of-"

"We are a mistake?" Dhavya challenges. Go on, she lets the words remain unspoken. I dare you to tell me that we were a mistake.

"Don't make things harder than they are," Xyria says lowly. She won't meet Dhavya's eyes. "Do us both a favor and forget me."

"If I asked the same of you, could you do it?"

Silence. Dhavya slowly comes closer, wraps her arms gently around Xyria's waist, presses her cheek to the other's back.

"Xyria, how could I ever forget you?" She lets her hand entwine with Xyria's, smooth fingers against calloused skin. "You are imprinted onto my soul."

Akyri is from like, the Mediterranean ish area? think west asia/middle east/eastern europe ish? like white but. like a toasted white yk.

Kaia and Kayron are east/north asian coded.

Niras trio would be like china/mongolia/viet/thai area.

Onika and Aeon are black. think Onika from like ghana/west sfrica ish and aeon from central africa area (aeons people have cultural inspo from middle east/arab countries and stuff tho)

Jalecxia's white (sorry i love them but i had to nerf them a little/lh/j). like norway/finland/sweden ish.

asterion is brown, think middle east to india but leaning more on the india side, plus egypt.

selene is native american coded (story and culture wise) but like looks wise(?) shed be from like the Philippines/indonesia area

lycaon and litana are also white. litana's a lot more white coded than lycaon. lycaon'd be like half middle eastern/indian.

dhavya's brown, think india meets desert?
