Another game that doesn't exist, but unlike the last one, I actually have like. A proper idea for this one. Even though I doubt I'm going to make it. But I want to!

Basically, it's like a fusion of Papers Please, Hypnospace Outlaw, Stories Untold and that feeling you get when it's 3am and you've been awake since 6 the previous day but you can't go to sleep because you need to get your project done/you want to play just one more level/you aren't particularly tired. You're up at night Doing Stuff and strange "anomalies" start appearing, and you have to banish them using stuff you have lying around.

More detailed gameplay thing below.

Ok so basically the entire game takes place at a desk, and you can rotate left and right to view a pair of tables with items on them, which can be used to banish anomalies. The player has access to a list of websites (think usenet but with websites instead of message-boards) that they can look through to find information about the different anomalies, such as what objects they're drawn to, how dangerous they are, and how to banish them back to their home dimension.

Some anomalies are harmless annoyances, doing things like opening random programs on the in-game computer, some are more serious, doing things like redacting important text on the pages or shuffling images around, and some are more dangerous, and when they appear in the room, the player has to hide under their desk and do the banishing ritual from there, grabbing the necessary items from the table when the anomaly isn't looking.

Hypothetical extra levels/gamemodes would be things like one with a laptop where you can move more freely but the hiding places are harder to access and the items are spread across multiple rooms; a level set in a lab where there is only one anomaly at a time, but most of them are unique, more dangerous, and have more complicated banishing methods, and the anomaly-identification is more complicated, involving symbols that indicate what type of item or process is required and a file database that hints at what options are used in the banishing process; and a timed mode where a single, dangerous anomaly is trying to break in, and you have until it does so to find a way of banishing it.

At one point I speculated that Fandaniel's throwaway comment about Zenos being a case where Emet-Selch "finally succeeded" was about Zenos' corporeal aether being as dense as an Ancients'. Not his soul, but his body at least being 2x as dense as the average Source inhabitant (and 14x as anyone from a Shard).

One of the big reasons for the Sundering was that extremely aether-dense people can't interact directly with Dynamis. You can hear Meteion bc your aether is so thin. People turn into monsters bc Dynamis overwhelms and consumes their Aether.

What if Zenos cannot directly interact with Dynamis. At all.

What if THAT'S why everything seems dull and boring to him? There's a whole spectrum of emotion & feeling that he straight up can't feel because his booty too fat his corporeal aether is too thick. But he's still a sundered soul, so part of him still needs Dynamis to feel connected to other people (unlike the Ancients who seem fine?). But his corporeal aether blocks it. The same way that Zodiark's shield kept us from hearing the Endsinger for all those centuries (& by extension the whole universe really), Zenos' thicc aether literally prevents him from feeling connection to others.

This explains why he so easily no-sold the WoL. In addition to supernaturally thick aether, he's also mostly immune to our Power of Friendship crap.

... Mostly.

Because obviously the Ancients still weren't immune to the Endsinger, her effect was just different. They didn't turn into monsters, but their imaginations turned on them, causing their creation magic to manifest ravenous nightmares. In the same way, some part of the WoL's Dynamis was so potent that it broke through. And that's why he became so completely addicted to us. We're literally the only person with powerful enough Dynamis that he can feel any connection at all.

Meet Argyros! She's a new character for a coming campaign (an Aasimar/warforged Cleric on DnD5e, and an Aasimar/Automaton Oracle of Life in PF2e). I had been wanting to scratch the itch to design a robot, and she was the perfect fit for it. I hope you'll like her! I can't reveal too much, but feel free to ask, I'd love to shape her a bit more~

actually Ackar and Kiina and Gresh and everyone who knew Mata Nui being reminded of him by the Toa Nuva is really good. I mean the Toa never got to meet Mata Nui for more than a quick goodbye. They didn’t know him. but they are his Toa. They always were. and there’s things about them that remind the others that they really were made for him in some ways. Tahu and Ackar spar and he notices that the way Tahu fights is a lot like Mata Nui’s, albeit more advanced, and whenever something needs to be done, Tahu always steps up for leadership or self-sacrifice without hesitation. Pohatu smiles all the time with Mata Nui’s smile and enthusiasm for the things and people around him and Onua speaks just like he did, deep and soothing, always seeming to find the right words. Gali has his eyes, and not just in color - the looks she gives Kiina sometimes stop her in her tracks. like she can see something in Kiina that even Kiina can’t see, something deeply worthwhile. Gresh says “but the Ice Toa isn’t like him at all” when they’re talking about it one day, but then hours later he sees Kopaka surrounded by his Matoran, touching the tops of their masks with fond fingers and looking at them like he would lay down more than his life to keep them safe, and something inside Gresh is wounded with grief for the rest of the day.

Ackar tells Tahu he wished he could have known Mata Nui for longer. Tahu agrees. He would have liked to know the spirit he has lived and fought for too. but Ackar also knows that in some way, Tahu has experienced Mata Nui in a profound way he isn’t even aware of - in his unity with his siblings, he is, in many ways, a recreation of the spirit for which he was created. Ackar is glad that, if Mata Nui himself couldn’t stay, he left this remnant in all of his people. those who knew Mata Nui are quicker to set aside anxiety and prejudice and see the goodness and value of this new people, because they see in the Toa, the Matoran, the Turaga, and all creatures who lived in his world, pieces of Mata Nui still alive and well.

Random Bionicle Thought

I've been thinking. There are quite a few theories around about Mata Nui and Teridax being actual brothers, not just brothers as in "basically the Matoran Universe version of dude, the colloquial term for other people" but rather actual brothers.

What if Mata Nui is actually a Makuta? Or, at the very least, a proto-Makuta, the first one to evolve into their current state (perhaps by the hands of the Great Beings), an energy being made out of Antidermis? Considering how only Makuta seem to be able to take possession of the Great Spirit Robot besides Mata Nui himself, and how easily the entire world got mirrored in the alternate universes where Teridax is the one who was put in control of the GSR...
