New Trainees
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nariko is getting used to the trainee life.
pairings: nix x yun, chae, dk, mentions of jihoon and other members
genre: slice of life
era: predebut, green practice room era
word count: 2.1k
a/n: since this is predebut, the girls use their first names since they haven't gotten stage names yet
warnings: feelings of insecurities and awkward conversations
The bright green walls that held the giant group of trainees were giving Nariko a headache. She scanned the crowded space, observing trainees practice dance choreographies while others did the same vocal run over and over again. It was only her second week as a Pledis trainee, yet doubts started to plague her. Was this all worth it?
Her gaze wandered through the room, finally her eyes settled on a glowing red light settled in the top corner of the room. The knowledge that anyone could be watching her every move, live, sent shivers down her spine. Nariko was still getting used to the people around her only speaking Korean, how was she supposed to get used to being in the public eye all of the time?
Nariko’s attention is abruptly pulled back as a cluster of trainees approach her. For whatever reason, she noticed that many of the juniors were drawn to her. When Samuel, the youngest of the group, reached for her hand and tried pulling her up, she felt discomfort mingled with gratitude.
“Come practice with us, Nariko!” Seungkwan says, his voice warm but insistent. “Sooyun said she’d teach us the new choreography for the monthly test.”
Nariko hesitates, a part of her was urging her to retreat into the safety of being alone. Yet, a part of her longed for connection, to be part of the group of trainees she often saw laughing together and supporting one another. With shaky hands, she allows Samuel to guide her up.
“Okay,” she murmurs softly, her voice barely audible above the chatter going on in the room. “Thanks, guys. I’ll try my best.”
As they make their way to the front of the room, near the mirrors, Nariko watches Sooyun speak animatedly with Chaewon. Of course, all of the trainees had been nice to her so far, but she couldn’t shake off the feeling of being an outsider looking in. While everyone had introduced themselves to her, some even making an effort to learn some phrases in Japanese, it was evident that most trainees had already formed tight-knit groups, leaving her to be on her own.
Sooyun and Chaewon, the only other girls, seemed to have their own separate roles. Sooyun was often by herself, working on choreography with Soonyoung, or sometimes even trailing after Jihoon. Meanwhile, Chaewon was usually fulfilling the older sister role, helping the younger trainees with anything and everything, leaving little time for personal connections beyond her circle of 95 liners.
Chaewon joins the group of trainees, leaving Sooyun to lead the makeshift practice. The tone of the practice is rather lighthearted, as many of the trainees talk as they are led through stretches and new people join their practice. Nariko notices that Chaewon is standing in the back, finally on her own. She takes a deep breath, trying to work up the courage to approach her, but is disappointed when she sees Jeonghan approach her.
During the practice, Nariko puts all of her energy into learning the choreography, determined to prove herself. She notices how a lot of the trainees watch her, but is unable to tell if they are impressed by her dancing or see her as competition. Their gazes are a bit unsettling, but she does her best to ignore them and focus on dancing.
Nariko has a background in traditional dance, so she had trouble adjusting her dance style to fit Sooyuns hip hop style. She attempts a turn repeatedly, trying to make it seem less fluid. Nariko grunts in disappointment as she watches herself in the mirror.
“Woah. You’re a really good dancer.” The trainee to the left of her says. His voice cuts through her concentration and startles her. Nariko turns in surprise to look at him… she vaguely remembers him introducing himself as Seokmin. “Can you help me with the turn? I keep falling over.”
His question once again catches her off guard. “Thank you,” she responds, a shy smile growing on her lips. “I can help you. Do you mind doing it again? So I can watch?”
Seokmin does the turn a few times, seemingly falling in a new direction every time. Nariko nods in understanding, “You’re putting all of your weight on your heel and you lose balance. Try it again on your toes.”
Seokmin follows her instruction, this time doing the turn on his toes. He still tilts a bit to the side, but at least he is no longer falling over himself. “That worked! Thank you so much!” He sends Nariko a large grin and excitedly does the spin again, no longer having issues with it.
“Of course. Once you're used to putting more of your weight forward, you don’t have to go on your toes, Sooyun doesn’t.”
Seokmin nods in understanding. The two of them keep talking as practice continues and by the end of it, Seokmin has showered her with compliments, unknowingly lifting her spirits.
After the practice session ends, Nariko says bye to Seokmin before getting ready to leave. However, before she can slip away unnoticed, Sooyun approaches her, a smile on her face, despite clearly being tired from leading practice.
“Hey, Nariko, I saw you at practice helping Seokmin, thanks!” Sooyun says, her tone friendly. Her gratitude perplexes her, prompting Nariko to question the unexpected gratitude.
“Why are you thanking me?” Nariko asks.
“Seokmin can be kind of shy, so asking for help can be hard sometimes. Whenever I lead practice, I feel bad I can’t help him at the moment.” Although Nariko wasn’t sure she really understood the depth of what Sooyun was saying, her understanding of the Korean language was okay, she seemed to understand that small acts of kindness were often appreciated amongst the trainees.
Their conversation comes to a lull, as neither girl really knows what to say. Sooyun’s gaze drifts to Chaewon standing near the exit of the room, prompting her to extend an invitation.
“Do you want to grab a drink with us? With Chaewon and me, I mean,” Sooyun explains. “We were thinking of trying out that new bubble tea down the street. Chaewon said it was her treat.”
Surprised by the invitation, Nariko hesitates a bit before nodding yes. Sooyun cheers in excitement before grabbing her arm and pulling her in Chaewons direction.
“Look who’s joining us!”
Chaewon looks visibly stunned by the news, but only for a second before she’s grinning,“You’re really coming?”
Nariko nods again, feeling a bit shy as the center of attention, but excited by the idea of being included as one of the girls.
As the three of them made their way to the bubble tea shop, ignoring the whining from the boys that wanted to tag along, Nariko found herself smiling as she watched Sooyun and Chaewon interact more closely. The constant banter between the two of them was amusing and she found herself laughing along. Despite the pang of envy she felt at their effortless friendship, Nariko can’t help but to feel grateful for the opportunity to spend time with them outside of practice.
Inside the boba shop, the atmosphere was quite infectious, filled with the scent of sweet drinks and light hearted music. Chaewon and Sooyun eagerly place their orders, barely breaking their conversation. Nariko stands a bit behind them, not really knowing when to come up to give her own order.
Luckily, Chaewon notices her and turns a bit towards her. “Come on, Nariko, what flavor are you getting?” she asks, flashing a reassuring smile.
Nariko steps forward, mustering her own smile as she places her own order. The three soon settle into a booth, Nariko facing the other two, and as they drink and chat, the awkwardness that once surrounded them starts to fade away. They exchange stories from their childhood and from training. The two girls try their best not to pry too much about Nariko's private life, noticing that she was giving short, straightforward answers, but quickly got into the rhythm of asking each other funny questions.
“So,” Sooyun says in a sing-songy voice, “Do you have a crush on anyone?”
Nariko cocks her head to the side, confused by her choice in words, “Why would I want to crush someone? That sounds mean.”
Chaewon and Sooyun laugh. “That’s not what she means,” Chaewon explains, “Crushing on someone means liking them romantically, she’s asking if you find anyone cute.”
“Oh.” Nariko ponders the question for a while, before shaking her head, “No, not really.”
Sooyun gasps in shock, “Really? Not even a little bit?”
Nariko feels herself flush in embarrassment at Sooyun’s surprise. She shifts a bit in her seat and plays with the end of her sleeves, suddenly self-conscious under this line of questioning.
“No, not really,” she repeats, her voice quiet but firm.
Chaewon slaps Sooyuns arm, scolding her. “Hey, not everyone is boy crazy like you. Maybe you’d know all the lyrics to that song we’ve been practicing if you didn’t spend all of your time thinking about boys.”
Sooyun whines, trying to hide the tinting in her cheeks, “Chae that’s not fair! How could you say that?”
Nariko cocks her head to the side, “Do you have a crush on someone?”
Chaewon smiles as she realizes that Nariko is attempting to use the new word she just learned and laughs as Sooyun becomes even more flustered by her question. Nariko can’t help feeling some satisfaction from turning the tables on Sooyun. She watches in amusement as Chaewon teases a squirming Sooyun.
“Chae, that’s not fair!” Sooyun protests, attempting to deflect attention away from herself.
Chaewon continues to laugh at Sooyun’s expense, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. “Sorry, Sooyunnie, but you set yourself up for that one,” she teases, earning a playful glare from her friend.
Nariko has been watching their back-and-forth bantering before asking, “Who do you have a crush on?”
Sooyun adverts her gaze, debating if this was something she wanted to share, if it was worth the teasing she would probably receive from the girls in the future. She mumbles her answer, almost hoping that they wouldn’t hear her, “It’s Hansol… and Channie.”
“Both of them!” Chaewon exclaims. Her and Nariko exchange amused glances, barely containing their laughter at the younger girl’s admission. “Ooo, Sooyunnie’s got a double crush!” Chaewon teases, unable to stop herself from reaching over and pinching Sooyuns cheeks, despite her attempts at swatting her hand away.
“Whatever,” Sooyun says dryly, unimpressed by their shenanigans.  Yet, the hint of a smile tugs at the corners of her lips. Suddenly, her eyes light up, remembering something. “Narkio,  Jihoon is totally into you!”
Nariko’s eyes widen in surprise at Sooyun’s unexpected announcement, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She opens her mouth to respond, but before she can utter a word, Chaewon chimes in.
“Ooh, please spill, Sooyunnie.” Chaewon teases, her curiosity piqued. “What makes you think he likes her? I don’t think they've even properly spoken.” She turns to Nariko for confirmation, and receives it in a nod.
Sooyun leans back with a satisfied grin, enjoying the reactions she received from her revelation. “Are you kidding? Whenever they’re in the same room, he’s staring at you with heart eyes.”
Nariko’s eyes widen in surprise, her mind racing to find a response. She had never even considered having a crush on any of the other trainees, and even less if someone was into her. Despite her lack of romantic interest, she knows the importance of handling these situations delicately.
“Really?” Nariko says, her tone light but non-committal. “I hadn’t noticed.”
Chaewon eyes her, trying to read her reaction, “Jihoon can be shy, so if he does like you, I wouldn’t be surprised if you haven’t noticed.”
Nariko offers a small, understanding nod. “Yeah, that’s true. I’ll keep an eye out, I guess.”
Sooyun can’t stop herself from prying into Nariko’s thoughts, “You don’t think he’s cute at all? You wouldn’t want to date him?”
Nariko pauses, carefully considering her response. “Well, he’s nice and all… but I don’t really see him that way. I’m still getting used to training, you know?” She offers a tentative smile, hoping to express her sincerity.
Chaewon and Sooyun are quick to agree with her, and Nariko feels a wave of relief wash over her. She’s grateful for their reassurance and for not pushing her to pursue a romantic relationship.
Despite the many moments of awkwardness, Nariko finds herself enjoying her time with the other girls. They finish their drinks before walking back to the dorms together. Maybe, she thinks, if she got to know everyone else the way she gotten to know Chaewon and Sooyun, she could find herself enjoying being a trainee. The thought fills her with a newfound sense of optimism as they laugh and talk on their way back home.

I Saw It In A Dream
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing(s): yun x members, yun x carats
genre: humor, slice of life
wordcount: 1.5k
Idol Room was a variety show that Seventeen had continuously been going to for their comebacks. This was their third comeback in a row, and Coni and Doni (the hosts), were asking the members for tmi’s.
Dk was the first to speak up, “Yun predicted the weather today.”
Both of the hosts were visibly shocked, and some of the members laughed at their reactions.
Coni starts waving his arms and speaks directly at the camera, “No, you guys don’t understand, all week we’ve been told that it was going to be sunny. Even today! But an hour before we started filming, it suddenly started pouring! Everyone was surprised.”
“Yun has very good intuition,” Mingyu explains. “Her gut feelings are always right.”
Doni shakes his head, “I don’t believe you.”
Yun herself is watching this entire interaction go down, smiling to herself. The members' excitement for this was greatly amusing her. Luckily, the members rush to defend her.
“This other time,” Edyth says, “I was supposed to be on a rising platform for a performance. The staff always makes sure it’s working before I get on it for rehearsal. Apparently, they had never had problems with their lifts at this venue, and it was working fine so everyone was confident that the show would run smoothly. The rehearsals went well. But right before the actual performance, Yun pulled me aside and told me that there was something wrong with the lift and to be really careful during the performance.”
Everyone was listening to Edyth’s story and anticipating what was going to happen next.
Doni gasped, “The platform didn’t work?”
“The platform didn’t work,” Edyth confirmed. “It buffered while it moved me up and then wouldn’t come down for the rest of the song. Luckily, it went back down smoothly after the song.”
Coni shook a finger in Yun’s direction, “It sounds to me like Yun tampered with your platform.”
Yun laughs at the accusation and shakes her head. “I would never,” she says.
“I have another story,” Jeonghan says. “I didn’t believe the members when they talked about this either until this happened a couple of weeks ago.” “You don’t have to tell this story!” Yun protests.
Jeonghan waves off her reluctance to share what happened, “Recently, we did a concert in Osaka. There were a couple of us in a hotel room, I think it was Hoshi, Woozi, Nix, Yun, and me. We had just ordered food and were waiting for the hotel staff to bring it up. So, a couple minutes go by, and there's a knock on the door. I assumed it was our food and got up to answer the door. But as I’m walking to the door, Yun tells me to not open it. I checked through the peephole and it was a person in uniform, with a cart of food, so I really did just think it was staff with our food.
I really was going to open the door, but then Yun started freaking out, telling me not to open it. Hoshi and Nix believed in Yun’s ability while Woozi and I didn’t, so we didn’t open the door. We sat in silence for like 5 minutes while the person outside kept knocking on the door and saying they had our food. They finally left and I was complaining about how that was our food and I was hungry, but we got another knock on our door. It was one of our managers, and they told us that apparently some criminals had gotten into the hotel and were pretending to be staff in order to come see us. Right before I went back into our room, the staff came with our food. I asked if any other hotel staff had already come by, and they said no.”
“Random people were trying to get to you guys?” Doni asked.
Jeonghan and some of the other members nod enthusiastically..
Doni nudges Coni, “Maybe she’s some sort of a witch.”
“How do we test this?”
Yun is still shaking her head, “I’m not a witch. I just know when I should follow my gut feeling.”
The members are quick to protest this again. “No – she’s totally a witch.” Dk says.
Doni and Coni laugh. “What do you think?” Coni asks Minghao, as he hadn’t really spoken up with his own opinion.
Minghao smiles and looks over at Yun, there's a teasing glint in his eye before he looks back at Coni, “Maybe she’s not a witch, but she must have some sort of spiritual ability. She can predict the future with her dreams.”
Doni is quick to intervene, “How do you know it’s an ability though? Couldn’t it just be a coincidence?”
Minghao shakes his head, “It’s happened way too many times to be considered a coincidence.”
“Raise your hand if Yun has predicted something about you from one of her dreams?” Doni asks everyone. Him and Coni’s mouths drop open when all of the members raise their hands. “Are you guys trying to prank us?”
“One time,” Seungcheol said eagerly, his arms moving animatedly as he told his story. “Yun told me that she dreamt that a red jacket would give me a rash on my arm. I didn’t believe her but then a couple weeks later it happened! I bought a jacket but I had to get rid of it because it gave me a rash.”
“What about you?” Doni nudges Woozi, hoping that he’ll disagree with the members.
“I never give out the password of my studio to anyone. Only one of the managers, Bumzu, Hoshi, and I have access to it. One time I asked Yun to get me food while I was in the studio. I ask members all the time to do this and they always knock or just leave it outside, so I thought Yun would do the same. She had texted me that she had arrived at the building so I got up to accept the food but someone was opening the door to my studio. She just walked in and handed it to me super casually –” Everyone laughs when he makes the confused facial expression that he had as he told the story, “– I thought that maybe she had gotten the code from Hoshi or our manager but when I asked them they said that they didn’t. No one had given her the code and I was so confused. When I finally asked her, she said she dreamt coming into my studio and wondered if the code she saw in her dream would be the same one in real life.”
Coni points accusatively at Hoshi, “You gave her the code!”
He raises his hands up in defense, his voice loudly denying it, “I didn’t tell her anything! Woozi would kill me if I told anyone the code, I wouldn’t even be here!”
Everyone laughs at Hoshi’s ability to make any situation humorous and the mc’s move on from this segment into a game. Yun hadn’t thought much of this moment when they were filming it, in fact, she thought that it would get cut. But it was aired and it went viral, carats were amazed with her ability while others didn’t believe her.
Fascinated with the alleged ability, this often became a topic of discussion between the media and Yun. Interviewers would ask her what her latest dreams had been about and sometimes members would tell stories of Yun predicting things during a vlive. Of course, there were always people that were skeptical of the entire thing so Yun usually opted to not talk about this. The last time it was really a topic of discussion was when a fan went viral for telling their own Yun story:
“As a carat, I had heard the rumors of Yun’s ability of being able to see into the future through her dreams. I thought that it was a joke that all of the members were in on, but now I’m a believer. Yesterday, I went to the Seventeen fansign. I was excited to meet all of the members. I was one of the last carats to say hello to them, and Yun was the last member I would say hello to. When I finally got to sit in front of her, she was very excited and pleasant to talk to. When I told her my name, her eyes lit up with realization. She asked me if I had a boyfriend and I said yes. She then told me his name and how long we had been together (3 years). I was shocked and confused about how she knew, but she only laughed and said that she had seen our wedding in her dream. I told her that I wasn’t married, but that I wanted to marry him. Yun smiled playfully and said that my boyfriend would propose to me that upcoming Saturday. Imagine how surprised I was when it was true, yesterday my fiance proposed to me.”
The post went viral and gained over a million likes. Yun only responded in the form of a weverse post:

Missing Lunch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where does Edyth's lunch go missing?
pairing: edyth x wonwoo, yun, chae, jun, mingyu
genre: slice of life, a tiny bit of hurt/comfort
era: predebut
word count: 1.1k another short one:3
warnings: mean girls at school? this one's pretty tame.
...
Living in a tiny dorm meant a lot of things. It meant that you were sharing toothpaste with four other people. It meant you woke up two hours earlier than you had to leave because there was a line for the shower. It meant having no secrets, not because you didn’t want to, but because it was inevitable for everybody to know everyone's business when you live in a tiny ass space for seventeen people.
Yun and Edyth have never had many problems when it came to sharing things, but every once in a while, they push each other over the edge and end up arguing. This was a regular enough occurrence that no one is surprised when the two return from school one day, arguing with each other.
“I don’t understand why you can’t do me this one favor!” Edyth complained, “I would do the same for you.”
Yun huffed at this statement, “Shut up, Edyth. That would never happen and you know it. Stop trying to guilt trip me into this.”
Despite their arguing being a normal occurrence, the other members worried about them. Their arguments often needed a mediator or they would escalate into something worse.
“You’re useless, Yun.” Edyth spat out before leaving the living room and slamming a door shut.
Yun set her backpack at the foot of the couch and plopped down onto it. Chae, who had been in the kitchen, sat next to her. “What was that about?”
Wiping at her teary eyes, Yun says, “Don’t worry about it. Edyth will get over it.”
“Get over what?” Yun thought over the situation and thought about telling Chae the truth. If she did, she had no doubt that Edyth would be even more pissed at her, but if she didn’t, Edyth would continue to bother her about this.
“Edyth has been asking me for my lunch or money to buy lunch this entire week.”
This caught the attention of the remaining members in the room, all of them pretending to not pay attention but failing.
Jun, who regularly made both of them a school lunch to take with them, walked over to the two girls sitting on the couch, “What's wrong with her lunch?”
Yun shrugged in response, “I gave her half of my lunch on monday and tuesday, and then I gave her some money on wednesday, but I didn’t want to give her anything on thursday so I hid from her. I saw her give her lunch to a girl in her class.”
Chae put a hand on Yun’s head and ruffled her hair, “Don’t worry about this anymore, okay? I’ll talk to Edyth.”
Inside the other room, Mingyu, Edyth and Wonwoo were watching youtube videos together. When Chae walked in, the three glanced at her. Wonwoo and Mingyu immediately went back to watching the video when they identified the person coming in, but Edyth noticed something in Chae’s gaze.
Edyth sighed in disappointment, “She snitched, didn’t she?”
“Hmm?” Mingyu hummed, “Who snitched?”
Chae crossed her arms and stood in front of the three sitting on the bed, “Edyth has been asking for Yun’s lunch this entire week because she’s been giving hers to a girl in her class.”
“She’s lying!”
“So you haven’t been giving away your lunch when you know that we can’t afford to give you guys extra food?”
Edyth was speechless, she hadn’t even realized that Yun knew why she was giving out her lunch.
“Wait,” Wonwoo pushed his glasses up his nose to get a better look at the girl. “What have you been eating this entire week?”
Edyth knows that by telling them the truth, that she had shared Yuns lunch or had nothing at all, she would get her into trouble. But Edyth didn’t want to lie to them either, she always felt guilty when she lied.
“Edyth,” Chae scolded her. “Tell me the truth. What’s going on?”
Feeling the unwavering gazes of all three members in the room, Edyth prepared herself to tell them what had happened with her lunch.
“I just wanted to make friends.” She muttered so quietly, the three had to lean in to hear her. Mingyu even asked her to repeat herself.
With her annoyance growing, Edyth raised her hands in exasperation, “I don’t have any friends, okay? I try to be nice and talk to people but they ignore me or tell me to go away. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have to eat lunch with Yun and her friends or by myself? So a girl in my class said I could sit with her friends if I gave her my lunch. I asked her why and she said that the company I’m under probably gave us our lunch so I could just ask for another and I didn’t want to correct her because that would be embarrassing too. Like what am I supposed to say? ‘Sorry I can’t give you my lunch because the company I’m under hates us and won’t give me any more food.’ So, I suck it up and stay without lunch, but at least I have friends.”
Edyth’s chest heaved with heavy breaths. The other members watched her try to regain her breath but was starting to feel uncomfortable under their gazes.
Chae sat on the edge of the bed, “Edyth, these aren’t the type of people you should be trying to befriend. They don’t care about you at all. You’re being used.”
“I know.”
“Then I don’t understand why you would go through with this? I get feeling left out, but you're smarter than this.”
Mingyu pushed his hair back in frustration, “Which girls are they, Edyth? I’ll talk to them and get your money back.”
Wonwoo sighs and shakes his head, “Neither of you get it. You’ve both been popular your whole life. Talking to new people is hard for people like Edyth and me, especially if they’ve already made up their mind about what kind of person you are. I’m not saying what those girls did was okay, but I understand why Edyth did it.” Wonwoo glances at Edyth and they gently smile at each other.
Chae stands from the bed with a sigh, “Okay, fine. Just promise you'll stop doing that. You need all the energy you can get since you go straight to practice after school.”
Edyth enthusiastically nods her head, “I promise!”
Satisfied with her response, Chae leaves the room. The other three settle back into their spots and hit play on their video again. Edyth nudges Wonwoo.
“Thanks for that.”
Wonwoo nudges her back, “Give me your lunch and we’ll call it even.” He breaks into a laugh as he dodges Edyths arm trying to hit him.

Star Gazing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jun and Chae go on an incredibly late night walk.
pairing: chae x jun
genre: hurt/comfort, just a smidge angst
word count: 1k, short and sweet
warnings: alludes to Yun grieving, a stress breakdown of sorts
...
On most stressful days, Chae was usually tired enough to pass out after laying in bed. But with Yun on hiatus (and rightfully so, she would never be upset with her about that), and the rest of the members stressed out, trying to fill in the missing pieces of their comeback, Chae had grown restless.
It was maybe around 2 in the morning when Chae shoved her covers off of her, grabbed her phone, some headphones, and a hoodie, before leaving her shared room with Jeonghan as quietly as possible.
Chae sighed to herself, struggling to put on her converse. She reached over to the wall to try to balance herself but misjudged how far she would have to extend her arm and ended up tripping over her own feet, landing on the mat by their front door. She winced at the brief moment of pain but went back to the task at hand.
Seventeen had many nightowls, so it wasn’t uncommon for someone to pull an allnighter. Jun, however, was one of their best sleepers, and was the last person Chae expected to be silently watching her putting her converse on from the kitchen.
“How long have you just been standing there?”
Jun shrugs.
“You’ve been watching me the entire time?” Chae exasperatedly asks. “What are you even up for? Go to bed.”
Jun wishes that he was in bed, but for whatever reason, Seungkwan and Dino were both still up, watching youtube videos together and laughing their asses off. He had gotten up to grab a glass of water and was sipping on it when Chae walked past the kitchen. He could tell she was annoyed by how fast she was trying to get out the door but was still trying to decide if he should interrupt her moment or leave the kitchen without her noticing.
He sets down his glass and walks over to Chae, “Couldn’t sleep. Where are you going?”
Chae yawns and she rubs her hands against her face before responding, “On a walk, I guess? Just want to clear my head.”
Jun nods understandingly and grabs a random jacket that was thrown on a nearby chair, “Cool, I’ll come with.”
“Jun, you really don’t have to.”
“I know. But I like making sure you’re safe and could probably use the walk myself, so we go together.”
The first ten minutes of their walk is in complete silence. Chae opts to not put on her headphones, instead enjoying the quietness of being outside when no one else was. There is a slight breeze blowing through her hair, not strong enough to make her feel chilly but it was still refreshing. She can tell that Jun was enjoying himself too, occasionally kicking a rock that is on their path or slowing down when he catches himself walking a little faster than Chae.
Neither of them knew where they were going, but enjoyed the simplicity in just walking. They eventually end up in a park and sit at a bench facing a playground.
“I’m glad-” Jun jumps in his seat at the suddenness of Chae’s voice interrupting their silence and Chae laughs at him.
“I’m glad you came with me.”
“Yea?”
“Yea.” Jun looks over at Chae, she is sitting with her head leaned back so that she’s looking at the sky and her butt is at the edge of the bench. “I like looking at the stars with you.” The gentleness in her voice is endearing to Jun and he can’t help but copy her position and gaze at the stars as well.
Chae lifts her arm and points at what Jun can only assume is a star.
“That’s you.” She says before moving her finger over a little bit, “And that's Myungho. And Nix. And Edyth, and Seungkwan, and Wonwoo, and Dk, and Cheol, and Dino, and Yun, and Mingyu, and Woozi, and Hoshi, and Jeonghan, and Vernon, and Josh.”
Her hand drops, but Jun is quick to grab it and pointing it at a very specific star, “And that's you. You're our North Star, Chae. You tell us where to go when we get lost. You light the way.”
Chae pulls her hand away from Jun and sits up. Jun once again mirrors her, and realizes that Chae is now crying softly. She uses her hands to cover her face and doesn’t let Jun pull them away. Instead, he tosses an arm over her shoulder and pulls her until she’s leaning into him.
“What if,” Chae sniffles, “What if I don’t know where to go anymore? What if I don’t know how to help?”
Jun uses the hand that isn’t wrapped around Chae to smooth out her hair. “You don’t need to know how to help all of the time, Chae. Sometimes, just knowing that you are there with us, offering comfort, is enough. You are more than enough.”
Chae cries a little bit harder and Jun hugs her a little bit tighter.
“Don’t forget that you’re a star like the rest of us, okay? And we want to help you too.” Jun feels Chae nod her head against his shoulder.
The two go back to enjoying each other's presence in silence. Until Jun notices that Chae is starting to fall asleep on top of him. He nudges her a little bit and Chae jerks awake.
“We should head back.” Jun says.
Chae nods in agreement. She lets Jun hold her hand and pull her away from the bench. He holds her hand the entire walk back to the dorms and even helps her untie her shoelaces when they make it back.
Before entering her room, Chae glances at Jun, who is watching her from his own door to his room.
She leans in his direction and whispers, “Thanks, Jun.”
He leans toward her too, “No problem, Chae.”
The two smile at each other one last time before entering their rooms and going to sleep.

How to Mourn a Parent
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing(s) : yun, yun x svt, focuses on jeonghan, some chan, and some jihoon
genre: ANGST LIKE I CANNOT BE MORE OBVIOUS THIS IS ANGST ON ANGST ON ANGST
word count: 3k
warnings: death & grief, death of a parent, mention of long-term sickness, panic attacks, swearing. Seriously, if this is triggering for you, please do not read it.
...
Seventeen worked hard. They practiced their choreos until they could perform with their eyes closed, ensuring that each comeback would be perfect. Yun, often the perfectionist, would practice every day until the comeback. With their first music show in a week, Yun was very comfortable with the choreo and was now helping Jeonghan, Edyth, and Dk with it as well.
Edyth was taking a water break while the other three went over the bridge when Edyth heard a slight vibration come from the table. “Hey, Yun!” She picked up her phone and waved it to catch her attention, “You’re getting a call.”
Jeonghan waves Yun off when she questions if he’s fine on his own and she jogs over to Edyth. She thanks her for notifying her and takes a deep breath when she notices the caller ID. Her aunt was calling her. Well, the closest thing she had to an aunt. Yun’s mom, an American, had been disowned by her family when she married her father, a Korean man. Her father passed away while she was a toddler, and she has no memory of him. So, her mother and her best friend raised her. That best friend is her favorite aunt.
“Hi, Auntie,” Yun says when she answers the call. It wasn’t uncommon for her aunt to call her, as she liked knowing what the girl was up to. But, Yun’s mom had been sick for a while and she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t concerned. In fact, she felt her stomach drop when her aunt let out a sigh.
Yun didn’t notice that the three members in the practice room had stopped practicing and were eavesdropping on the conversation. They knew that her mom had been getting sick recently and how it had been stressing Yun out. The company had promised to let her visit her mom after the comeback, so Yun had been working hard to make sure everything went by smoothly.
“Yun, sweetie,” her aunt said, “I hate that I have to tell you this, but your mom just had a stroke.”
The members watch in concern as Yuns knees buckle and she forcibly sits herself down on the floor, leaning against the wall. “What? Is she okay?” The panic in her voice triggers their panic as well and Edyth runs out of the room, telling the other two that she was going to get the leaders and managers who were in a meeting a couple floors above them. Dk’s instinct is to go over to Yun and try to offer her comfort but Jeonghan holds him back, knowing that this was an incredibly sensitive topic and Yun probably needed some space.
“I haven’t heard anything from the doctors yet, but I thought I should let you know. I know you said it would be a couple weeks before you could come, but I really think you should come sooner.”
Yun knew exactly what that meant: her mom wouldn’t last a couple more weeks. Her breathing started to dysregulate and she could hear her heartbeat pounding. Jeonghan, noticing the signs of Yun’s panic attacks, finally let Dk rush over. He sent a text to Edyth telling her to hurry.
Jeonghan let Dk help Yun, as they focused on controlling her breathing. He picked up Yun’s discarded phone from the ground and spoke to her aunt. He reassured her that Yun was okay, just a little shaken up before asking what was wrong. He looks over at Dk, who is now holding a crying Yun and running his fingers through her hair. Dk sends a questioning glance at Jeonghan. Hegrows even more concerned when he sees Jeonghan's eyes begin to water too.
Jeonghan promises Yun’s aunt that she will be there as soon as possible and reminds her to take care of herself too. He hangs up when a rush of people come into the practice room.
Chae’s reaction is to immediately drop down next to Yun, who has mostly stopped crying. She is joined by Quartz’s manager, Jiwoo, who tries to ask what happened as gently as possible. But Yun is still sniffling and doesn’t answer.
Woozi and Hoshi stand back, not really knowing what to do and letting Chae and their manager try to handle the situation. Seungcheol walks towards Jeonghan, glancing between him and where Yun is, before asking, “What happened?”
Everyone glances at Jeonghan when they hear Cheols question. Jeonghan, on the other hand, only looks at Yun, silently asking if it was okay for him to say. Both of them tear up as they have this silent conversation. The concern of the people around them grows.
Jeonghan quickly wipes his eyes and braces himself, wanting to be strong for Yun. His voice is soft, but the room is silent as they listen to him, “Yun’s mom had a stroke,” a couple of people in the room gasp and Dk’s hold on Yun tightens, “Auntie isn’t sure how long her mom can hold out for.”
Jiwoo stands up quickly, “I’m going to speak to the company and get a flight booked as fast as possible. Yun, don’t worry about anything, I’ll figure this out for you. Cheol, Chae, with me.”
Chae pecks Yun’s forehead before following after their manager. Cheol looks over at Hoshi and Woozi, both standing still in shock, and tells them that he’ll send a text later since they’ll probably have to round up the members.
All of the members and managers sat together in a meeting room. The members that already knew what was going on had agreed not to say anything to the rest until Yun gave the all clear to let them know. Before calling all of the members, Chae and Jiwoo gave Yun a debrief on what the meeting would be about. Yun had not spoken much since the phone call with her aunt, but was able to give them an okay to have the meeting.
The rest of the members could clearly tell that something was wrong by the way the members were acting. Chan had taken particular notice in the way Yun hadn’t said a word. His eyebrows scrunched up when Hoshi refused to tell him anything when he asked him if Yun was okay.
Jiwoo stood in front of everyone and cleared her throat. “We called for this urgent meeting because there has been a sudden change in Yun’s mothers health.”
“What?” Mingyu breathes out in concern, unintentionally interrupting their manager. He also accidently forces everyone's gaze toward Yun.
Startled by the amount of eyes on her, Yun begins to fidget in her seat. She opens her mouth to say something before closing it again when she can’t muster the courage to say anything.
Chae, who is sitting next to Jiwoo, taps her leg, asking her to continue with the meeting. “Unfortunately, she has suffered a stroke and Yun has been strongly advised to go see her mother.”
Yun is sitting between Jeonghan and Jun. While Jeonghan is rather stiff, Jun tries to offer Yun a comforting touch and he places his hand gently on her knee. While physical comfort is usually an accepted form of affection for Yun, the feeling sends her into sensory overload and she shoots up from her seat. Her eyes dart across the room, but the sudden movement makes her a bit dizzy and she sways a little. Jeonghan puts his arms out to catch her in case she falls over.
A few members have stood up out of concern, namely Wonwoo and Nix, who have both started to walk towards her. Chan tries to get up, but is stopped by both Hoshi and Woozi, who sit on either side of him, clutching onto his arms despite his efforts to go up to her. Wonwoo reaches Yun first and he tries to coax her back into sitting by gently nudging her shoulder.
“Don’t touch me!” She shrieks. The shrillness of her voice shocks them. Wonwoo pulls his hand back. They all watch as she heaves a couple of breaths, sobs beginning to leave her mouth. She urgently wipes at her eyes, not liking the way her tears blur her vision. Nobody knows what to do for a second, all they can do is watch Yun try to cope with the situation. Although their stillness goes on for less than a second, it feels like an eternity, and so they are all shocked when Yun suddenly grabs onto Jeonghans wrist. He yelps when Yun starts to walk out of the conference room and stumbles to keep up with her. He even bumps into Nix, who is still standing behind where Yun stood, but he follows after Yun anyways.
There's another moment of tense silence following after their departure, but it is broken by Hoshi hissing at Chan, who is still trying to leave his and Woozi’s tight grip,
“Don’t even think about it.” The way he emphasizes every word seems to finally get through to Chan and he slumps into his seat in defeat.
Jiwoo clears her throat, “I trust that Jeonghan will take care of her for a moment. Should we continue with the meeting?”
The members look to Chae and Cheol, and they look to their managers before nodding an agreement.
“Very well.” Jiwoo continues, “We don’t know how long Yun will be absent for, but she is to be on a flight for tomorrow morning.”
A few hands shot up with questions.
“Yun has requested that she goes alone. She will be accompanied by security throughout her trip, but they will not be entering the hospital with her.”
The hands drop.
“As for the comeback, PLEDIS will put out a statement about Yun being absent and we will need to work on adjusting formations in the choreography as well as deciding who will cover her lines. Do to the short notice, I assume the members will want to take care of it themselves? Woozi with line distribution and the Performance unit with formations?”
All of the members nod in agreement to the plan laid out by Jiwoo.
“Great. Yun was meant to join Seungkwan during a couple variety shows and we will see if Yun will be available for those dates in the future. We’re not quite sure how long Yun will be in the US for, but we plan on giving her the time necessary to be there for her mother. Any questions?”
Jeonghan was the last member to speak with Yun before she left. After she had dragged him  from the meeting, he had helped her calm down before driving her to their dorm and helping her pack.
It was only about 8:30 pm when Yun fell asleep in Jeonghan’s arms, but considering the emotional exhaustion she must be dealing with, as well as an upcoming flight at 3 in the morning, Jeonghan thought it would be okay to let her sleep. He texted the groupchat letting everyone know where they are and that Yun was okay. He later waved at the members that peaked into the room to check in on them.
Then, a little past midnight, Jeonghan woke Yun up and helped her get ready to leave. He couldn’t help the wave of nostalgia that came over him. The motions of brushing her hair reminding him of how he used to help her get ready for school a couple years ago.
The entire time, Yun refused to speak, only answering yes or no questions with her head. Jiwoo, some security, and Jeonghan accompanied her to the airport. Hugging Yun goodbye, Jeonghan tried his best to encourage her. When his grip on her loosened to let her go, Yun only hugged him tighter. Shocked, Jeonghans hands only ghosted over her back.
Yun stood on her tippy toes, making sure her mouth was next to his ear.
“I dreamt this was going to happen.” She whispered before detaching herself from him and immediately leaving.
It had been about a week since any of the members had heard anything from Yun. This, of course, made them worry. Their careers, the distance, and the fact that Yun asked none of them to come made it hard for them to find a way to help her through the plight. Many of the members were upset about her mothers health as well, having met the woman and being saddened when hearing that something bad had happened to such a kind person.
Going to work was a good distraction, though. They felt some guilt when working on ways to fill in Yun’s spot in the comeback, but were comforted with having something else to think about. In fact, many of them had completely stopped thinking about Yun and her family when they started appearing on music shows. They had even won an award for the comeback, as bittersweet as it was. It wasn’t until a performance on Inkigayo when everything really went to shit.
“Uhh, do you guys have missing calls from Yun or is that just me?” Edyth worriedly asks. Multiple members scrabble to find their phones.
“I got a call from about three minutes ago,” Chan says.
They're discussing who should call her back when they realize that just about all of them had gotten a call. Woozi was standing quietly in the corner, staring intently at his phone. He didn’t want to say anything, but he hadn’t received a call from Yun. His first instinct was to feel rejected, but soon realized that that was insensitive of him, considering that Yun and him never really talk about deep stuff very often. But listening to the rest of the members, he’s realizing that the calls were very recent, Vernon even having a call from just a minute ago, so they probably just missed her call. And that meant that he was probably going to receive a call very soon.
His ringtone halts all the conversations in the room. Everyone turns to watch him as he presses the accept button on his screen with shaky hands. “Hello?” He says.
There's only static on the other side of the call and the other members take in his confused expression. Woozi waves off some of the other members that are asking him to put the call on speaker.
“Jihoon-oppa,”
Jihoon? He can’t remember the last time Yun called him that, even less oppa.
“My mom died.”
He covers his mouth with his hand. Part of him had expected this, but he is still shocked by the news. Some of the members close enough to hear what Yun says also are shocked, some sitting to process the information.
“God, Yun. I’m so sorry.” His heart breaks when he hears Yun sniffle.
“Don’t be sorry. I think we all knew this was going to happen.”
“Can we do anything for you? Anything at all?”
“Uh, I don’t think so,” a moment of silence passes, “Actually, do you think you guys could come to the funeral? We want to have it soon so I can go back to Korea, so we have it planned for tomorrow, but I won’t even know many people there anyways so I know it’s going to be really uncomfortable and–”
“Yun,” Jihoon interrupts, “We’ll be there. And you do not have to come back to work immediately. Take some time off, okay? We’ll be there as soon as we can get there.”
“... Okay.”
“Okay, see you then. Take care of yourself.”
Yun hangs up the phone and Jihoon immediately feels his face wet with tears.
The funeral home was quiet. And nearly empty too. The display room had been nearly full a couple hours ago but now Yun was saying goodbye to the last of her mothers friends. The only people remaining are the members, Jiwoon, and Hoseok (Yuns primary bodyguard). The staff had retreated to the office.
The members had dispersed into several groups, one standing outside near the entrance, getting some fresh air, another group sat in the kitchen, sipping on cups of coffee, and finally a third group sat in the back of the display room, silently watching Yun talk to the remaining couple.
Mingyu is half asleep, slumped over in his seat. The moment they had landed, he had spent the majority of the day clinging to Yun. Some people even assumed that he was her doting boyfriend. Seungcheol, always protective of Yun, had been hovering near her for the entire service. Far enough to let her do things her own way but close enough to send her reassuring looks when she needed them. He was talking in hushed whispers with Chae and Hoseok, presumably about what Yuns security is going to look like when they get back to Korea.
Chan tugged at his tie, loosening it. His eyes scanned Yun, her black dress reaching her knee, not a wrinkle in sight. Her face was a bit puffy from crying, but he knew only people that see her regularly would be able to tell. The slight redness in her eyes and the raspiness in her voice. He watched her raise her shaking hand, give the couple a handshake before they turn to walk away and Yun can finally drop the polite smile off of her face.
His hands twitch as he thinks about going over to her and giving her a hug. Luckily, he doesn’t need to do this as Yun walks over, sits next to him, and places her head on his shoulder. She has her eyes closed when he sneaks a glance at her. Chan doesn’t know, but Yun is thinking about how warm his side is, and how thankful she is for him and the other members.
She thinks about how gross she had felt earlier, sitting in the office picking out a casket with her aunt, and how Chan is so much more comfortable than the chairs she was sitting in all day. She thinks about how every single member bought a bouquet of flowers and how she took a flower from each one, pressing them in a book her mother gifted her.
Maybe one day, when it doesn’t hurt so much, she’ll show them.

Everyone Hates Nix
nix has learned to be unapologetically herself and that has gotten her into quite a lot of trouble. here's a list of some of her most prevalent scandals
pairing(s): nix x svt member, ten (nct), carats ?
genre: angst but not really ?
word count: 600ish but in long bullet points
warnings: attempted sa, hate (online and in person), physical altercations, swearing
...
Tumblr media
2015-16, Seventeen just debuted. Nix is pretty stoic, almost always with a neutral facial expression and not talking much. She gained a reputation of being cold, and a lot of people hated her, calling her ungrateful and claiming she was mean to the members. PLEDIS did nothing to protect her, but the hate started to go away once Quartz debuted and a new caring side to nix started to come out.
"she never talks during interviews... she must thinks she's all that"
"did you see her during the vlive? she was basically ignoring the members."
"they shouldn't have debuted her, she's too much of a stuck-up bitch that holds the rest of the group back."
Tumblr media
Early 2017, Nix went to dinner with some of her ‘96 liner friends, dispatch put out photos, but for some reason pictures of her hugging Ten from NCT circulated a lot. Articles started to come out and they were rumored to be dating. SM put out a statement saying that they were just very good friends.
"She already has thirteen guys to whore herself around too, why does she need more."
"I don't know who this nix bitch is, but she better stay away from ten and nct."
"she's literally disgusting. ten can do so much better."
Tumblr media
2017 (don't wanna cry era), some of the other members were doing a vlive, and Nix didn’t know. At one point, Nix can be heard saying “Shut the fuck up,” in the background and people speculated that she was saying it to Joshua. She got hate for swearing and being a bully to the other members. When PLEDIS didn’t defend Nix, the members did, taking to bubble and instagram. Joshua posted a picture that Seungkwan took of him and Nix sleeping on a couch together, with hearts as the caption.
"did you guys hear her? she' bullies the rest of the members"
"i bet she forced them to post that picture."
"#ot16 viral on twitter"
Tumblr media
Is known to tell off disrespectful interviewers. She’s corrected them from calling Seventeen a boy-group, being rude to other members/making them uncomfortable, lowkey shades PLEDIS, avoids sexist questions, etc.
“Are we all boys? No? Then we’re not a boy group, don’t call us that.”
“Woozi doesn’t like skinship, leave him alone, you’re not funny.”
“Our company has very talented idols, it’s a shame they don’t get to have many comebacks.”
“That's a dumb question, I’m not answering it.”
Tumblr media
2018 ( call call call era), Nix grew in popularity in Japan due to the Japanese comeback and a lot of knetizens thought it was undeserved. This led to a lot of fan wars online and an increase of hate towards Nix in Korea. There was a petition going around to not let her perform at 2018 SBS K-POP AWARDS (where call call call was performed), some ppl straight up left the venue when they got on to perform. There is a viral video that came from this era where Nix is coming out of a van and gets a shoe thrown at her head. The next day Nix posts a selfie of her with a thumbs up and a bruise by her left eyebrow.
"she posted that picture for attention."
"it's her fault so many people left during seventeen's performance, does she have no shame?"
"I'm glad she got hit."
Tumblr media
December 2018, multiple members posted for Nixs birthday, including Yun. In Yuns post, there are pictures of the two of them at a beach, in bathing suits, raising their hands up. Nix has visible armpit hair in multiple pictures. It goes viral and she faces a lot of backlash for being “unsanitary” and “unladylike.”
"that's literally the grossest thing ever"
"nobody wants to see that"
"and they wonder why she's the least biased member"
Tumblr media
2019 (wow thing era), Nix has an ankle injury and can’t perform for a lot of the comeback. PLEDIS opts to terminate Quartz promotions early and fans blame Nix. When Quartz returns in Seventeen for Happy Ending, during a fanmeeting, a saesang confronts Nix about the cancellation of promotions and blames her. Nix gets her hair pulled, but luckily security takes the saesang away before she is seriously harmed. Nix goes backstage for 10 minutes before returning to the fansign.
"we get one quartz comeback a year and she ruined it."
"she's such a bitch for making the rest of the members miss out on promotions only to be at a fanmeeting the next week like nothing happened."
"next time they shouldn't even put her in the song, then she can't cancel them whenever she wants"
"her ankle is literally fine, people saw her walking around at the fanmeeting."
Tumblr media
.December 2019, Christmas/Holiday fanmeeting, a fan brings a mistletoe and tries to kiss her. She avoids it and later a video without context (mistletoe is not included in video) blows up and she is accused of mistreating fans/being ungrateful.
"i'm so sorry to the fan, they probably were really let down"
"you would think that constantly being threatened to be removed from the group would make her grateful but it didn't."
"i'd skip her if i went to a fanmeeting"

Technical Difficulties
Tumblr media
pairing(s): edyth x (quartz) members
era: adore u
genre: (light hearted) angst, humor
word count: 1.4k
warnings: ... crying?
summary: pledis can't give the seventeen members in-ears and edyth faces the (embarrassing) consequences.
PLEDIS was… well… kind of poor. And Edyth would say “kind of” because they could have money if they had managed NU’EST properly, but we all know how that went. And now that they have Seventeen, you would think that the company would put a little more effort into giving the group the equipment they needed, but… still no.
Seventeen was a big group and that meant needing a lot of things. Seventeen stage outfits, seventeen mics, seventeen ear pieces… that they did not have. PLEDIS wasn’t able to provide the group with ear pieces for their music show performances, so the members ran down to their local convenience store and bought cheap headphones to replace them. And even though Edyth was unsatisfied with her DIY in-ear, she wasn’t going to bother complaining. She nearly did complain when one of the staff taped the earbud wire to her cheek and she was reminded of how the earbud kept falling out of her ear last performance.
“It’ll be fine,” Chae nudged her, “just try your best.” Edyth sighed deeply at this, trying her best wasn’t good when the earbuds wouldn’t work mid performance.
Literally. The earbuds stopped working after dk’s lyrics in the first verse. The initial panic could be seen in her eyes and it was easily noticed by the other members. Was she hurt? Did she have a wardrobe malfunction?
They quickly realized something was wrong with her make-shift earpiece when she missed her first line. All of the quartz members had relatively short lines, so this first missed line wasn’t noticed by the audience. Edyth knew that if she missed her later lines, when she sang the higher harmony in the chorus and then the high note adlibs, it would definitely be noticeable.
Her breathing became more labored as the pressure in her chest grew at the idea of potentially ruining their performance. She wasn’t in the camera's view during the beginning of the second verse and she hunched over to control her breathing. Quickly, Chae stepped in front of her, creating a barrier between her and the audience. Nix faced her and pushed her shoulders back, forcing her to stand up straight. She quickly grabs Edyth’s hands and places them on her shoulders. Nix starts to take deep breaths, hoping Edyth will follow. She then quickly pulled out Edyth’s earbuds and then put her hands on top of her, tapping the beat of the song in order to help her find the beat of the music. This whole interaction happened in mere seconds.
Edyth knew that she had to keep going. Following the members to stay synchronized was easy enough, She forced herself to count every single beat of the song. There were a couple moments in which she stumbled or found herself a beat behind the rest of the members. The members tried their best to reassure her, many patting her back or shoulder, but their support only made her feel more guilty. Logically, she knew that this wasn’t her fault, but for her it just felt like she was completely wrecking their performance.
The moment for the adlibs came and Edyth took a deep breath in order to help her support the upcoming high notes. She locked eyes with DK and followed his lead. While her first note was a little wonky, she quickly fixed it and even compensated for it by singing a couple whistle notes instead of just a third above DK’s notes. The outro of the song was a blur and she found herself mindlessly posing for the end of their performance. This was the first time she was happy about never being picked as the ending fairy, knowing that she couldn’t hide her teary eyes from the camera.
The second they were given the okay, Edyth bowed quickly to the audience before speed walking off stage and trying her best to ignore the staff members wanting to comfort her.
She ripped off the earbuds and handed the receiver to a staff member before jogging the nearest bathroom, ignoring the weird looks she got. Edyth pushed the stall door closed and sat on the toilet and bowed her head, finally allowing herself to cry.
Edyth is not a pretty crier. Her face scrunched up and snot ran from her nose. She tried to keep her wailing to a minimum since there were others in the bathroom and blew her nose with toilet paper. She cried even harder when she heard a knock on the stall door. Edyth knew that her members wanted to comfort her, that they would tell her that it wasn’t her fault, but she wanted to wallow in her sadness for just a while together.
“Edyth, come out.” Chae cooed softly. “You did all you could. And you killed those high notes! No one will even notice you were having tech issues.”
“I- I don’t care!” Edyth cried. “I’m so tired of everything! We deserve good earpieces! And- and- I’m so embarrassed, why did that have to happen to me.” Talking about her frustrations only made Edyth cry harder and Chae left the bathroom in order to give her a moment.
The bathroom was luckily near their dressing room and Chae made it there in no time. She was immediately questioned by Seungcheol, “How’d it go?” Only to receive a shake of Chae’s head in response. Some of the members looked at each other in concern. They couldn’t just walk into the girls bathroom because their member was having a meltdown.
“I’ll change quickly and go to her.” Chae said, only to be shocked at the sound of Yun dropping her backpack loudly onto the ground. She stood still for a second, as did everyone else in the room waiting for her next move. Oh no, everyone thought.
Yun abruptly started to stomp her way to the bathroom, avoiding the reaching hands of multiple members trying to stop her. She ignored the annoyed calls from Seungcheol, Chae, and even Jeonghan, determined to reach Edyth.
Noticing the bathroom was empty except for Edyth, Yun knew she could be as loud and demanding as she needed to be.
“Edyth!” She called out, “Get your ass out of the bathroom right now. The stylists need the clothes back and I know you don’t want to be a bother.” Yun stood directly outside of the stall and knocked patiently on the door. Then she waited for a response from Edyth, only receiving a weak and wobbly, “Go away! I’m not done crying about it.”
Yun let out a long and dramatic sigh, “Don’t make me kick the door open.”
She waited a couple seconds, listening to Edyth’s sniffling, and was about to knock on the door again when she heard the lock turning. She watched as Edyth opened the door but remained in the stall, she wiped her nose with her sleeve and refused to look up from her shoes.
Yun smiled softly at her emotional friend and gestured for her to leave the stall, “Come’re.” Edyth stumbled into Yun’s arms and buried her face into her neck.
“I just majorly embarrassed myself, huh?” Yun chuckled at her question, “Nah, not really.”
Yun grabbed onto Edyth’s wrist and led her out of the bathroom. Edyth walked directly behind her in order to avoid having to look at any of the members or staff. Yun couldn’t help but look smug as everyone's faces showed their shock, not thinking Yun could actually get Edyth out of the bathroom.
Once in the center of the room and of everyone’s attention, Yun pulled Edyth from behind her. Everyone quieted down and watched as the two bickered,
“Yun, I don’t want to!”
“But you have to!”
“No! It’s not a big-”
“Of course it’s a big deal, you were in there for forever.”
Edyth would have kept complaining if it wasn’t for Yun jabbing her in the side and pushing her a step forward. Her ears reddened at the attention and the amused looks coming her way.
Edyth bowed 90 degrees and stayed in that position as she apologized, “I’m very sorry for causing you all to worry. I had a malfunction but that does not excuse my reaction and inconveniencing many of the staff from doing their job. It won’t happen again.”
At the end of her speech, several people started to laugh. Edyth quickly stood up and turned to Yun, “I hate you.”

The camera switches from Yun to an unsuspecting Yeji (Itzy), who is loudly cheering for her. She quickly stops once she realizes what happened and sheepishly smiles at the camera as her other members laugh at the situation.
The moment goes viral and Yeji tweets that she loves Quartz.
The following day, Yun replies with a tweet of her own
“Itzy x Quartz collab ?”
Tumblr media
During a Channie’s Room Episode (Bang Chan from Stray Kids vlive) he reacts to Quartz Wow Thing MV
“Wooo the dance is incredible”
“Yun was the lead producer in this? Yea, I thought so, she’s a great producer”
“We’ve talked a couple times and she seems really nice. Yea, I would love to maybe work with her one day.”
Tumblr media
Chungha during an interview
“Who is somebody that you want to collab with?”
“Seventeen Yun! She is so talented and a great dancer, I think we could make something really cool together.”
“I think she is so versatile in dance styles and would push me to be a better dancer so… Yun… let me know if you're interested.”
Cue her laughing at the directness of her answer
Tumblr media
In a youtube video of one of Seventeen's music show performances
Yun is walking down a relatively empty hall, holding a go pro on a selfie stick
“Carats, I was the first member with their outfit and make-up off, so now I have been tasked with getting everyone's water because we ran out… the only problem is… I’m a little lost”
She peeks around a corner, where the bathrooms are and Minhyuk (MonstaX) comes out of it
“Oh, Oppa! Hi:]”
Minhyuk smiles upon seeing her and waves at the camera hello
“What are you doing here Yun?”
“...I’m lost” they both laugh at her situation
Turns out that minhyuk doesn’t really know where she could get waters from either, but wishes her the best as he hugs her and says goodbye to Carats
Yun continues on her journey to find waters
She runs into Irene (Red Velvet) but doesn’t have much time to do much other than bow, say hello, and quickly compliment each other
When she finally finds what seems to be like a break room, she sees Kevin (the Boyz) struggling to carry water bottles
He freezes a little when he realizes that he’s been caught and Yun laughs. Her laughter makes Kevin laugh too as she helps him
Kevin is introducing himself when Changmin (also the Boyz) appears with a bag [to carry the waters probably]
“Oh wow, you're Yun from Seventeen. You’re a crazy good dancer wahhh”
Changmin is a bit starstruck and embarrassed, his ears turning slightly red
But it’s okay because Yun is flustered from his compliments
They quickly say goodbye and Yun gets her waters [in a spare bag Changmin gave her]
When she finally gets back to Seventeen's dressing room, Jeonghan asks her, “What took so long?”
She looks at the camera for a second
“Oh, uh, just saying hi to a few people”
Edyth approached them both while Yun was speaking, she leans over to hug Yun
“Well next time be quicker. You’re ours, everyone else can wait for their Yun time.”

Leader Problems
Tumblr media
pairing(s): quartz x quartz, largely focused on chae x other oc's
era: mansae / bungee
genre: (light) angst, slice of life
word count: 1.2k ish
warnings: not really, maybe arguing ?
summary: small mistakes are being blown out of proportion and it is a leaders duty to take responsibility.
“Chi-Won, do you know why we have called you to this meeting?”
Chae hated it when they asked her this. Just because she was the leader of their subunit didn’t mean that she babysat the members every second of every day.
“No, sir.” she mumbled. She could only guess what she was called in for a meeting; it could be Nix in another scandal, or Yun going on vlive without the staff's permission, or Edyth spoiling something from their comeback. Chae doesn’t even know who this man is. He isn’t one of her managers and he surely isn’t the CEO, so why does he get to lecture her on how her members' screw-ups are her responsibility?
A loud bang caused by the man slamming his papers onto the table in front of her shocks her out of her train of thought, “This is a serious conversation and you’re mumbling!”
Chae raised her head and forced herself to maintain eye contact with the man, “I’m sorry, sir.” The man tsked and rolled his eyes. He swivelled in his chair to the side and stood up. “Fix your attitude.”
The rest of the meeting was a blur. The higherup and the staff scolded her for not being able to control the girls for what seemed to be the hundredth time, she didn’t even catch what the problem was this time, something about Nix taking jewelry from their last photo shoot… or was it Edyth? It didn’t matter as long as they returned it the following day.
Chae sighed deeply on the ride back to the dorm. Seventeen had been working hard on their comeback and were finishing up a very long dance practice when she was told by their manager that there was a meeting that she had to attend. Not Quartz, not even Seungcheol, just Chae. What seemed to be minor mistakes were being blown out of proportion and Chae was taking the brunt of the blow. The meeting dragged on for nearly an hour, so all of the members had already returned to the dorms. None of the staff offered to get her a cab and Chae’s pride prevented her from asking for it. So she dug through her backpack until finding enough change to take a bus home. She ignored the pictures being taken of her on the bus and thanked the driver before walking the remaining couple of blocks back to the dorm.
...
On the 8th floor, Yun, Hoshi, Vernon, and Minghao were in the middle of a very intense Mario Kart race. Dino, who was watching, greets Chae as she enters, “Oh, you’re home!” He instantly realizes Chae is in a bad mood by her lack of response and how quickly she takes off her shoes. Dino scurries away into his room knowing that an upset Chae could be scary.
The loud whine from Yun (after being overtaken by Vernon for 1st place) tells Chae that she is in the living room. Her loud voice somehow managed to annoy her even more, so she reaches over the table for the remote and shuts off the tv mid-race. The four members sitting start to complain, each claiming that they were about to win the race.
“Chaeeee, seriously?” Yun pouted, “The race was almost over.” It is only after saying this that Yun notices Chaes tense stance and her balled up fist.
“I don’t care.” Chae said. All four of the members' eyes widen to hear her steady, calm voice… damn, she was really mad. Chaes shifts her focus from each of the male members before mumbling, “Get out.” Vernon, Hoshi, and Minghao are instantly on their feet, speed walking to the rooms. Hoshi says, “goodluck” to Yun over his shoulder, only to get slapped on his shoulder by Minghao.
Chae slowly sits across from Yun and the two sit in silence for a second. Yun worries that she’ll say the wrong thing and annoy Chae even more. “Want me to get the other two?” Yun softly asks. Chae nods in confirmation and Yun quickly gets up to get the other two.
...
Instead of texting or calling them, she opts to run down to the 6th floor, not only to get the other two quartz members, but to let the other members know that Chae was visibly upset. Edyth, always the dramatic, needs to be dragged from her room, exclaiming, “Save us! If Chae is mad, then I’m sure we will all perish!” Nix drags her up the stairs by her arm as Yun tries to prepare them for how seriously upset Chae is.
The entire way to the dorm, Yun complained, “I don’t know why she’s so mad! We always get in trouble for really dumb things and only we get in trouble. Hoshi and Dk do way more dumb things then us and they never get in trouble, how is this fair!”
Nix sighed, “It may not be fair, but it’s not Chae’s fault either.” “Hmph,” Yun continued, “I’m not saying it’s her fault, I’m saying that she shouldn’t be this upset with us for something so dumb.”
...
Once they are all sitting in the living room, Chae wastes no time in getting to business, “Which one of you stole jewelry from the set?” The hardness of her voice makes the other three members nervous, still Nix raises her hand. “I forgot to take out my earrings at the end of my shoot, but it was totally a mistake. I can give them back.” Chae leans forward in her seat, rubbing her temples and nodding her head in agreement.
Edyth claps her hands in excitement and stands. “Well if that’s all-” “Sit your ass back down.” “I will be sitting back down.”
Chae lets out a deep sigh before starting her lecture, “Please, learn to be more careful about these sorts of things. It’s like the third time in this month that I’ve had to sit in a multiple hour meeting because one of you screwed up. Just because I’m the leader doesn’t mean that I’m supposed to clean up all of your messes, it wouldn't kill you guys to be held responsible every once in a while.”
Nix mockingly laughs at this, “Yes, I’ll make sure that the media stops twisting my words and act like a good girl so that dispatch stays away from me. I’ll stop being such a handful, okay leader?” At Nix’s sarcastic reply, Chae realizes how unfair she was being with the others. This is a problem she should be taking up with management, not them. “Nix, you know-” “Save it.” Nix leaves the dorm, slamming the door shut.
Chae lets out another deep sigh and rubs her eyebrows in frustration. The other two look at each other knowingly. Nix wasn’t typically the sensitive type, but she often thought that her scandals were holding the group back. Edyth put her hand onto Chae’s shoulder, “Maybe you just need a lil break, just so that you can figure out how to talk to management about being a leader and what that role should actually entail.” She got up and quickly put on her shoes, “I’ll check on Nix, don’t even worry about it.” Edyth and Yun exchanged goodbyes.
“I’m sorry,” Chae whispers to Yun. “For what?” Yun replies. Chae doesn’t have an answer to her question, and Yuns shuffling around the living room was distracting. She finally opened her eyes and lifted her head as she felt Yun nudge her. She offers her a controller and grins wolfishly at her, “Want to play Mario Kart?”

Attraction
Tumblr media
pairing: nix x hoshi
era: an ode / wow thing
genre: humor, slice of life
word count: 700 ish
warnings: talks of sexuality (but it's pretty lighthearted), like one (1) swear word, talks of sex/horniness/sexual attraction (also lighthearted).
summary: hoshi accidentally discovers a secret about nix, one that even she didn’t know about herself.
MAMA 2019 was coming up, and Nix wanted to be done with it the minute Seventeen had started to prepare for it. Now, don’t get her wrong, MAMA performances were always fun to put together and incredibly satisfactory when finally completed. But the amount of work Nix has had to do this year was overwhelming.
Nix had been facing an overwhelming amount of hate through the entire year due to the cancellation of Wow Thing promotions. The members all pushed for Nix’s involvement in MAMA to be higher in order to lessen this burden. Nix was thankful, but incredibly tired. Luckily, she was able to negotiate the extent of her involvement. Instead of getting an entire solo, she would be performing a relatively short duet with Hoshi.
The dance within itself was choreographed by the both of them and approved by Yun and their other choreographers, so Nix had no doubt that it was good. It’s just that the dance was a bit… spicy and Nix hadn’t quite gotten the hang of it. Even that doesn’t truly explain the situation, Nix had all of the moves down, and had strong stage presence as always. The choreographer explained it as “not a lack of chemistry in terms of dance… but it’s a sexy dance, so you should have some sort of sexual chemistry.” Thus resulting in Nix’s current predicament, having a solo practice with Hoshi at 1 in the morning to build “sexual chemistry.”
“I don’t know what I’m doing wrong! We’ve done sexy dances before and I’ve never had this problem,” Nix complained. “That’s because they’ve been group dances. You’re being weird since it’s just us.” Hoshi replied. Nix groaned internally at his words, knowing what he was going to say next. “Is it because it’s me?” She wasn’t even looking at him and could hear the smirk on his face. “Does dancing sexily with me make you nervous, Nix?” He crept up behind her, talking directly into her ear. Nix cringed and turned around, shoving him away. Hoshi laughed as he stumbled away from her.
“I know your ego may be too big for you to understand, but I am not attracted to you. Not even a little bit.”
“Well, who are you attracted to? Maybe you can pretend I’m them.”
Nix thought about it. Who was she attracted to? Sure, she’s had crushes but Nix can’t say that any of those had been sexual at all. She wanted to date someone, not fuck them. Nix shrugged her shoulders at Hoshi. “I don’t think I’ve ever been sexually attracted to anyone before.” Hearing this, Hoshi started to choke on the water that he was sipping, and Nix patted him on the back.
“Are you serious?” Hoshi questioned. Nix looked at him warily, “Why do you say that like it’s weird?” Hoshi shook his head, “It’s not weird. Just a bit surprising.”
The two sat down against the mirror, both needing this break. “How come you didn’t tell any of us that you’re asexual?” Nix gave him a look of confusion and Hoshi started to panickingly backtrack, “Not that you have to tell us! I mean Chae practically let us figure out on our own that she was lesbian and Yun told us directly that she was bi, so you don’t have to tell us you know. I didn’t mean-” “No, no, Soonyoung, that isn’t it at all. I just- I didn’t ever think that I was asexual.” “Oh.” “Yea, ‘Oh.’”
“It doesn’t matter anyway,” Hoshi stood up. He extended a hand to Nix and helped her up. “Have you ever been horny?” “Why are you asking me this?” “Just answer the question.” Hoshi waited expectantly. “Yea, I think so.” Hoshi chuckled at the response. “Close enough. Okay, listen, don’t think of this as a weird thing, but try to remember what that experience was like… and then pretend that I was the one that made you feel that way.”
Nix nodded in understanding, “I think I get it.” “Good, good, just look at me as if you wanted to fuck me.” “You’re pushing it.” “Sorry.” It’s safe to say that this was a very productive practice.

First Kiss
Tumblr media
pairing: yun x chan
era: predebut
genre: fluff, humor, slice of life
word count: 500 ish
warnings: kissing (?)
summary: yun has a question for chan and it leads to an awkward situation.
“There's something I want to say, I have something to say, I’m just gonna say it!” Yun exclaimed as she walked into the nearly empty dorm room. Dino and Yun had planned to do homework together, but Yun had something she wanted to talk about first.
Dino jumped at her loudness and scolded her, “Yun, don’t yell. You scared me.” Yun shrugged, “Sorry.” She was not sorry. Yun sat next to Dino on their bed and shoved his textbook away from him.
“Can this wait?” Chan sighed, “I have a project due at the end of the week and I won’t have any time to finish it during the week with all of our practices.” “No! I have something important to ask.” Chan faced Yun, “What?” “Have you had your first kiss yet?”
Chan's ears turned red at the question, averting his gaze as Yun continued talking. “Cause I haven’t had my first kiss yet, but if you haven’t either then it's really not a big deal.” Chan shook his head, still avoiding eye-contact, “I haven’t, but why are you asking me this when we should be working on homework?” He reached across the bed for his textbook, pulling it toward him.
Chan let out a breath of relief when Yun reached for her pencil case, presumably to start her homework, when she froze. Chan leaned slightly in Yuns direction, trying to get her to stop blankly staring at the wall across the room. To Chan, the silence was deafening, and while he hoped they could move past the subject he knew Yun would continue to bring it up. Her freezing was definitely a sign that she was still thinking about it. He was so deep in thought that he didn’t notice when Yun set her pencil case down or when she shuffled closer to him.
He blinked in shock when he felt warm lips on his own, but only for a second. Yun giggled as she watched Chan process the situation, his hand coming up to his lips, before looking at her with something unknown in his eyes. “There,” she said, “now we can both say we’ve had our first-”
Yun was cut off by Chan leaning in to give her another kiss, a proper kiss, not a peck. Yuns hands hung off of Chan’s shoulders and his right hand landed on her left cheek. When they separated, both of their eyes widened, struck by reality.
“What was that?” Yun exclaimed.
Chan was equally as flustered as he replied, “I- uh, I don’t know! You kissed me first!”
“Yea, but not like that!”
The two settled in an awkward silence trying to come to terms with what had just happened.
“This doesn’t mean anything.” Yun said as Chan spoke at the same time, “You can’t tell Jeonghan hyung this happened, he’ll kill me.” The two stared at each other for a beat of silence before bursting into laughter together. They leaned onto each other for support, unable to stop laughing.
After they finished their homework, they said goodnight to the members in the other room before climbing into their bed. Yun and Chan laid on their backs, staring at the glow in the dark stars stuck onto their ceiling.
“You know, I’m actually quite glad you’re my first kiss.” “Me too, Chan.”
