Indigenous Men.

This is a rant but but me simp for a minute yall please.

Now, as a child who grew up in an indigenous household, I’ve had my share of exposure to fictional indigenous men.

(That’s maybe why I write fanfic about tall, blue, indigenous men but idk it’s just a theory.)

I was little when I first watched avatar but lemme tell yall one thing.

I was not looking at Mr. Sully. No sir.

You know who I was looking at?

C’mon now Mr. Thick slick and handsome don’t act like you don’t see me 🫶🏽🤭

I was down so BAD for this man. I used to draw him with my little box of crayons when I was a kid and pretend we got married.

He’s a warrior.

He’s strong.

Hes so fucking hot guys you can’t even fight me on this one.

It always kinda made me mad as a kid when a character choose someone else over the clear, green flagged indigenous male character.

Now, Neytiri is NOT an example of this. She never loved Tsu’tey romantically, and Jake was a better choice for her of course.

But you know what movie pissed me off the MOST when it came to this trope?

No, scratch that, the og of this trope??

Now I could spend hours talking about this movie and how incredibly fucked up it is. But we’re not gonna go there rn.

(That movie cover actually brings back so many memories for me. We had VHS when I was a kid and we used to draw with whiteboard markers on the vhs box movie covers and make fun of John smith.)

I watched this movie for one sole purpose when I was little.

And no. It wasn’t for John Smith’s tea drinking pudding ass.

IT WAS FOR HIM

I used to get so peeved at ‘Pocahontas’ (her name was Matoaka.)

This was the man of 8 year old me’s DREAMS and we’re going after Mr. Ken the Colonizer!?

Like c’mere baby boy if she don’t want you I’ll take you 🤷🏽‍♀️😔

And Mrs. Neytiri, Mrs. Fictional adaption of Matoaka that I no longer associate with the real person,

Trust me, I get it, I really do. I too have a white (half white, he’s mixed but he’s got an Italian accent, straight hair and slightly tanned skin.)

I too have a snow bunny man on my roster. He do be feeding be pasta and lobster.

If it ain’t snowing I might not be going.

But indigenous men will always have my heart 👆🏽😭

Sneak peaks!

Lovely readers, supporters, and friends, as you know, summer is fast approaching. And you know what that means?

More time for writing!

So, I wanted you to give you guys some sneak peaks at some projects I have planned for this coming up summer!

1. Sagitta 🏹🪶🌌🌳 (title may change later)

I am so incredibly excited to announce that I have planned a Jake Sully x Reader. Sagitta is going to be a retelling of Avatar, in which a y/n insert takes the place of Neytiri. Written mostly from the perspective of Jake Sully, and getting to see Pandora through his eyes.

I’m very excited for this one because it’s almost impossible to find a Jake sully x reader fic that isn’t smut, much less a story with multiple chapters and an actual plot. So I’ve taken it upon myself to write one.

2. pareidolia 🌄🪸🌺

Lo’ak Sully is an irreligious person. An agnostic when it comes to the worship of the great mother eywa. How can he? What has Eywa ever done for him? Lo’ak was never really one to believe in forces beyond explanation. Omens, angels, powers beyond his reach. And yet, his mind always wondered off the ground.

When Lo’ak and his family are forced away from the only home they’ve ever known, he meets Y/n. A woman whom held the position of right hand to the Tsahik of the Metkayina. A warrior, healer, a prodigy.

How could the stars not align for him when this embodiment of the sun and all its glory stood before him? The sun. The greatest star his universe had ever known.

3. ostranenie🪻🌑💫🌱

Kiri swears your life mission is to do 2 things.

1. Make terrible attempts at flattery.

2. Make her secretly enjoy it.

You’re a scientist and whose parents died fighting with Jake. You went through the transfer of consciousness at 13, a process that nearly killed you, but as persistent as you were, you always found a way back. You’ve grown up with Kiri, and with the both of you now facing the age of 19, unknown feelings find themself embedded within her. You’ve always flirted with her in a playful manner. You and your stupid, stupid smile and beautiful eyes..But what happens when she starts to wish for it to be genuine?

Or is it already real?…

3. Pavonine 🦚🪘🪬

Ao’nung. The prissy, mermaid bitch boy who enjoyed making your life miserable. Born to the Tayrangi clan, your parents died in the first war. Jake and Neytiri have raised you as their own from a young age. But what happens when your home is threatened? The return of Quaritch and his January 6th squad has turned your life inside out, upside down; and fucked it in the ass.

Arriving at the metkayina islands was a breath of fresh air. You felt at home again. You always felt a bit misplaced in the forest, and you missed your seaside life with the Tayrangi.

I just got a request for some neteyam and Lo’ak fluff (separately) and have decided to pause from writing chapter 4 of virago to write some oneshots.

For Lo’ak, I’m having a hard time deciding between an omaticaya or a metkayina reader. So, I’m letting ya’ll choose.

(The alternative option is that I make 2 for Lo’ak but they would take longer to write.)
