stepping out of my comfort zone (but in the comfort at my own desk hehe)
one of the upsides to distance learning/quarantine is that you have no one to judge you as you try & fail & try again
i’m still trying to get through each day & feel satisfied with what i accomplish, but it’s a learning experience for sure.

I left my highlighters + pens + extra notebooks behind when I moved home due to Rona, so it looks like all of my notes are on the same topic, taken on the same day.
I'm working, I promise 😂

Hello guys! These posts are few and far between because I'm currently working extra to try and save up before university. These are a few bits I picked up to take with me including a midwife specific planner and some milestone cards to track my progress! How are you guys doing? In times of isolation feel free to message me if you want. Stay safe!

I’ve been struggling with finding a balance between not burning myself out & not feeling gross at the end of the day after getting nothing done. It’s a lot of reminders that taking time for myself is okay - but also that I genuinely enjoy learning new things, and getting to-do items checked off is beneficial in the long run. Not quite sure if I’ve found that perfect balance yet, but the sky remains gorgeous and there’s plenty of time to figure it out.
hope you’re all having a good day/night, wherever you are in the world ✨

In law school, we don't say "I love you." We say "It's ok. I didn't read either," and I think that's beautiful.
I made a studygram. Here it is.

This week and next week in my bullet journal. This layout worked super well for me, so I just re-did it in a different color. It came out a bit messier the second time around, but whatever. I also have a small notebook that I use for my daily lists. I could do it in my bullet journal (and I used to) but having the full weekly layout visible at all times with a separate daily list that I’m not afraid to scribble all over and be messy on has been great.
✨ Week 15: Sunday - When was the last time you climbed a tree just for fun?
About two weeks ago, actually. It’s a bit of a rare occurrence, to be honest, but my brother and I were visiting my grandfather’s house and reliving our days of climbing every tree we could when we were little. The time before that was probably last summer.

30/04/2020; 57/100 days of productivity:
I had a haematological malignancy webinar at midday. I haven’t had much haematology teaching and I think I find it difficult, so it’s not my favourite at the minute, but I really enjoyed the webinar today. Maybe I just need to take my time with it when the time comes. Then I made some flashcards for the lectures I had this week and last week. I’m about to do some revision for my exam that’s less than a month away !?!

saturday the second of may, twenty twenty.
today my goal is to get all caught up with my uni work, which includes watching a few lectures and completing an assignment (two, if I want to be proactive).
How do you guys stay on track for days when you have no other events? I find it easier when I know I have to be somewhere by a certain time, eg work, but today is just wide open for me.

09/05/2020; 58/100 days of productivity:
I haven’t done as much as I should have done during this week, but something does count. I had three meetings in the first half of the week, coupled with a few webinars. I’ve been doing some cardio and resp revision, focusing more on guidelines and management because I haven’t been so focused on that before. On Wednesday I found out that my group won one of the prizes for the clinical humanities project assigned for my general practice placement! I’m so happy because I wrote an awesome poem about language and communication barriers during consultations, something which is so prominent in the area. Even thinking about the current pandemic situation, it must be increasingly difficult for them to conduct phone triage when language is a barrier :(

uncommon songs to add to your study playlist
i usually never study without music; sometimes it can get distracting but most of the songs in my playlist are ones i know well enough that i’m content to let them be background music. these are some of the songs i’ve been putting on repeat as classes have started picking up for spring semester – imo, they’re all very soothing and peaceful with beautiful melodies that make a great background track to studying and doing assignments! most of these songs aren’t super well-known – they aren’t title tracks or are by less popular artists, but are definitely some of my favorites!
DARK CLOUD by younha (unstable mindset)
younha is a korean singer-songwriter most well known for her recent collaboration with rm from bts on winter flower (which is also a beautiful song you should check out, but slightly too intense for studying imo). dark cloud is from the same album (unstable mindset) and has a gentle rock beginning that eases into a more passionate and more soulful chorus. the song is beautiful and younha’s vocals are so soothing and definitely pull at the heartstrings. this is definitely one of the more intense songs on this list, though.
FLOWER by ikon (i decide)
flower is from ikon’s new album i decide and has a soothing beginning and a very pleasant melody. i love what ikon has done with the harmonies and making the melodic line interesting while still pleasing to the ear. the song is both soothing and energetic/motivating at the same time, and i think it’s perfect for keeping yourself working hard as you study!
NAP OF A STAR by tomorrow x together (the dream chapter: star)
one of my favorite and one of the most underrated songs from tomorrow x together (or txt)’s debut album! the entire song is very soothing and calming, with soft/whispered vocals and repetitive backing instrumentals. txt has amazing range and capability for conveying emotion even at such a soft volume, and i absolutely love their vocals in here, particularly the ad libs! i think this track really showcased the group’s breadth when they first debuted and has been one of my favorite study tracks.
MOONCHILD by rm (mono.)
i am absolutely in love with rm (yes, from bts!)’s mixtape, mono. i think any of the tracks on there could be used to study to, but i particularly enjoyed moonchild. the track features extremely interesting backing instrumental and percussion, and rm’s rap/singing has an amazing tone that really completes this track. i definitely suggest checking out the rest of mono. to see what floats your boat! close runner ups to moonchild were tokyo, seoul, everythingoes, and forever rain (whoops i just listed half the album).
YOU ARE HERE by bts/lee hyun (bts world original soundtrack)
i was amazed that bts world had such an amazing soundtrack considering it’s only a game! heartbeat is definitely the headlining track from this and i absolutely love it, but an underrated favorite imo is you are here – it’s one of the last tracks on the album and features very soulful and passionate vocals. i love the melody in this song and the drive from the backing track.
here they are! please let me know what you think of them, and if you’d like more recommendations in the future (because i’d be happy to provide them!).
